"I was on Levora for a year and absolutely loved it. Never a negative side effect. I'm finishing my second month on Chateal and have gained weight, experienced extreme mood swings, crying and yelling for no reason. I'm also cramping like crazy before my period. I'm in more pain than before the birth control. (Which was the reason I started in the first place.)"

"I have been taking this for 2 months now, and I love it. The only side effects I've had are moodiness/irritability and being more emotional than usual. I've actually lost weight, and my breasts have grown a whole cup size. And I haven't gotten pregnant or had a scare!"

"Trust and believe, ladies, you better not have anything going on in your life if you start to take this! I've only been taking this for a month and a half, but the mood swings are uncontrollable! I am a very level-headed person most of the time, but I have been an emotional wreck since I started. My breasts have been extremely sore, but they are getting bigger, which is a plus for me! Haven't had any acne or weight gain, but it did help regulate my period. I haven't had any irregular spotting, which is great because I just switched from the Depo shot. So I'm really liking this so far. We'll just have to see how it goes, I guess!"

"I've been on this pill for a month and a half since Planned Parenthood switched me from Reclipsen. I've never had any side effects from my pills that I've used, I started with Diane when I was 18 because I had severe acne, and it went away with the pills like two weeks after I started! So happy I did that. After that, they switched me to Jasmine, which was fine, then Reclipsen, which was fine, and then Chateal. I've had two side effects with this pill so far: nausea and headaches. It hasn't been that bad, though, and I hope they go away. I feel like if you have a lot of side effects with pills, you will have them with all pills, and you should choose another method. This is the birth control that is for me but not for everyone!"

"I've been on Chateal for about 2 months now. I have read about the negative side effects of this birth control, but different bodies have different reactions, and so far it has worked really well for me. I have high levels of androgens, which gave me really irregular periods, so I need to use birth control with more estrogen. I've used a different brand before and suffered severe mood swings and night sweats, which scared me from using pills for a long time. Ever since I gave Chateal a try, I've noticed that my old reactions to birth control are no longer there. I haven't gained weight or gotten mood swings. The only negative effect I get is the occasional headache. It works at preventing pregnancy and period regulation for me."

"I just want to share my experience because I'm pretty impressed with this pill. I was on another pill previously, and it was okay, except for the fact that I would spot ALL THE TIME, which got annoying. So my Dr. suggested I try this to see if my spotting would stop, and at first, I was hesitant to try it due to the bad reviews I've read, but I'm glad I tried it anyway because so far I don't have any negative reaction to it. No headaches, no increased appetite, no weight gain, no breast tenderness, I don't find myself really emotional, no PMSing, which is great. I would recommend trying it, it takes about 3 months for your body to adjust to BC pills. I'm glad it's working out for me, better than the previous pill I was on :)"

"This is my first ever birth control. When I first started, I had lots of cramping, but nothing I wasn't used to before taking it. So I took some Advil and continued using this birth control. Periods are a lot lighter. The first one was really heavy, but the second one was light and lasted only a couple of days. Haven't had any other negative symptoms that are over the top or causing me stress or pain. Overall, I think it's great and haven't gotten pregnant yet."

"This is my first time taking birth control pills and so far LOVE it! I had an IUD put in last year and had it taken out within 2 months because I was consistently bleeding, got a rash all over my body, and I had horrible cramping, but so far I haven't had any side effects with Chateal, yet. I read about this birth control before I took it and I was so afraid to even try it out, but I did and so far so good, everyone's bodies are different so don't be afraid to try it! I even asked my husband to help me keep track of any side effects that he may notice, especially mood swings, but he hasn't noticed anything either. I will update this review if I start to experience any side effects."

"Sooo, I took Chateal early 2019. The first month was okay, I thought I found a BC that worked for me! Sikeee!! The second month, I started having really, really bad anxiety, severe nausea, headaches, really bad thoughts (suicidal), smh! I had to stop mid-pack because the symptoms were horrid! Now, to the previous day, my fiancé and I want to have a little blessing, and it’s really hard because it’s been six months of trying and no luck, sadly! My periods are very irregular now, and it’s hard to track ovulation! I just hope I’m able to conceive soon!! Fingers crossed."

"Five because I never got pregnant, gained weight, spotted, or lost my sex drive. However, my skin has been absolutely horrible the past 7 months on this pill. I had flawless skin before birth control. I also had flawless skin on the Nuva Ring. I wake up and dread seeing my face because I know there will be a raised red bump(s). They never surface and are cyst-like. I used to never wear foundation or powder, now I have to cake it on because I can't stand looking at the huge bumps. Beware. As someone who had flawless skin until 19, this birth control can do a number on your face. Also, I have been extremely emotional and moody constantly."

"I have been on this pill for about 6 months. Sure, I'm not pregnant, but I have noticed a drastic change in my personality and body. I have had mood swings in the past, but nothing like when I started Chateal. I find myself crying for no reason at all a lot of the time. I get severe cramps when I start my period and about a week and a half prior to starting my period. I don't know if it's the pills that are causing this, but my periods on average last 10+ days, and the bleeding is always very heavy, and my bad cramps last at least 5 days. No acne, though."

"Started taking the pill three weeks ago. No side effects like headaches, weight gain, or fatigue, but I'm having extremely bad mood swings constantly. This pill makes me feel like a crazy lady! I'm normally a calm, relaxed person, also, my anxiety is extremely high. Seriously considering stopping the pills ASAP. Hopefully, Planned Parenthood has something else to offer that works for me."

"I've been on Chateal birth control pills for almost a year from Planned Parenthood. I LOVE it, and I will forever continue to use it. These pills definitely make my period shorter, lessen the pain of my cramps, and helped my acne. I used to have the implant, and I had my period every single day and broke out on my face and chest. Usually, I get bloated before my period comes. Once I start the green pills, bleeding begins on the 3rd or 4th day. I never experienced weight gain or migraines."

"I was prescribed this medication shortly after my abortion (sadly). Normally in the past, I don't have major side effects of birth control, but Chateal birth control I did. First off, this birth control gives you the same exact symptoms of pregnancy: back aches, acne, nausea, fatigue, etc. I have been on this birth control for about 3 weeks now, and I had to QUIT. Please do not take this birth control. I have HORRIBLE nausea that lasts me all throughout the day, it is horrible. Also, my back aches are really bad as well. I had to take a pregnancy test. The acne I got from this was horrifying. Usually, I have pretty nice skin, and I RARELY get acne, but this made me break out on my whole face :( All together, this is not worth taking, I would DEFINITELY use condoms over this. Also, this medication causes me SEVERE anxiety as well and headaches! Please do not take this medication."

"Honestly, this birth control took me months to get adjusted to, but a year in and it works fine! It doesn’t help with my acne, but my boobs did get bigger, and I only gained a pound or two (although that could be from my bad eating out habits, lol). Also, it’s super effective. We are not using any other form of contraception, and I’m not pregnant!!!"

"I had an intensely bad experience using Chateal. The first few weeks of taking Chateal were okay, I started to get more and more anxious as time went on, and by the fourth week of taking this birth control, I had a major panic attack/mental breakdown that sent me to the ER. I thought I was having a heart attack. I had numbness in my legs, arms, and face. My other symptoms were major mood changes, including depression and anxiety, loss of interest in life/suicidal thoughts, tightness in my chest, trouble sleeping, nightmares, sleepwalking, and irritability and anger/sadness. It was terrible."

"I have been using this pill for almost a year now. At first, yes, I felt a little nauseous, but not over the top sick. It does the job (not getting pregnant). I’ve used patches, Mirena IUD, implants, and other pills. I definitely think this is a great pill for teenagers and adults. The only downfall for me is I don’t have much of a sex drive anymore. The good thing is no weight gain and no crazy breakouts. So it’s definitely worth a try. I’d recommend this pill for anyone."

"I am 18, and this is the first birth control I have ever been on. I have really heavy and painful periods, so I decided to give it a try. It has been almost 3 weeks since I've taken it, and I've had an awful experience. A lot of nausea, headaches, really painful cramps last 30 seconds or so, but the worst has been my mental state. I wake up sometimes and feel almost numb, no energy, and sometimes I sit there with blank thoughts, but other times I just cry. I actually cry a lot, everything upsets me. My appetite has gone down, and I'm feeling like this just isn't worth it anymore."

"I have been taking Chateal for about 3 weeks; after a year-long break from birth control. So far, the only negative side effects are tender/sore breasts. I have taken 3 different types of pills in the past, NuvaRing, and Depo shot; so far, Chateal is pretty good. I have noticed bloating, but it seems to be water weight and has reduced significantly on its own within the past couple of days. My mood and emotions-I find this pill to actually be somewhat of a mood booster! I am the happiest I have been in a long time, and my emotions are pretty stable. Acne: I have always had acne (I'm 23), and birth control has always helped. NuvaRing was the best for acne, but after being off birth control for a year, my acne went haywire. Chateal has helped."

"I've been taking Chateal for a little over a year. It's a great option if you want to become incredibly depressed, gain 15 pounds you can never get off, have no sex drive, and never have another orgasm. To look on the bright side, I didn't get pregnant!"

"I took this pill for 5 months before deciding to get off of it a week ago. For birth control and unwanted pregnancy, it definitely does the job. The first couple of weeks, I felt nauseous almost every day and just all around sick. One time, I felt so overwhelmed and burst into tears at work for no real reason. After week 3, those feelings went away, and I didn't have those problems anymore. However, I feel as if it suppressed my metabolism, and I gained about 15 pounds. And tired. All I wanted to do was sleep all day, and if I let myself, I slept for hours. The biggest issue I had, though, is my sex drive went completely away. I didn't care if I had sex or not, which created a big problem with my boyfriend."

"I have been on different names of this pill for almost 6 years, and I love it. I have never had an unplanned pregnancy or even a scare (but I do use the withdrawal method also). My periods are great and always like clockwork. I used to have really bad cramps and heavy flow. Now my periods are manageable. I was 18 when I went on the pill, and I did have to go without it recently. One month being off, I developed a ton of PMS symptoms and a cyst on my breast! But once I got back on with Chateal, the cyst and symptoms have all gone away! Take it on time and make sure to prepare with refills, and you will be fine! And as always, just call your nurses if you have questions... Don't guess!"

"I got on these pills mainly due to the fact that my partner and I are highly sexually active. As of late, not much due to these pills making me moody, as well as, of course, I would get one of the rare side effects. I have vaginal dryness, I have no period, which makes me sketched out, and my libido is low. This pill just isn't for me. I couldn't make it past the one-month mark. I feel like I should have shopped around for more options on the pill side."

"Chateal is the first birth control I've ever loved. I've tried them all, and they make me severely depressed and moody. I realized I never had levonorgestrel, which is the hormone recommended to treat period pain. I specifically asked to try this after tons of research. I skip the placebo pills and take only active pills. I breakthrough bleed about every 4 months and give myself a painless 4-day kind of period. I lost weight, acne was reduced, boobs bigger, great sex drive, no periods really, no pain. Miracle pill. I've had 2 amazing years. I am 28 and have been experimenting for 12 years and have hated everything until now. I did just grab a refill and was given Chateal EQ. I hope it's the same thing. Looks like it is."

"Chateal is the first birth control pill I've tried, the brand chosen for me by the clinic I went to. Everything seemed fairly normal and predictable within the first month. Then in the second month, I began to experience side effects: lethargy, 'over-tiredness,' and severe mood swings. I'm already a very emotional person, so I quickly became overwhelmed (as did my poor boyfriend) and decided to quit before the end of the second month. In the days that followed, I experienced an ordinary period and an improvement in my mood and energy level. Chateal kept me from getting pregnant, but I really couldn't handle the side effects. My advice would be to just listen to your body and be thorough when looking for the pill that's right for you."
