For Birth Control "I've been on Aviane for 11 days now, starting the 1st pill in the pack the first day my period started (Sunday). I've now had my period a full 11 days, and it's starting to get really annoying. My sex drive has decreased a bit, I have vaginal itching, burning and redness, and I find myself becoming frequently dizzy. My breasts have become extra sensitive and seem much fuller than normal. My acne/clearing of face seems the same as before taking the pill, but my mood swings have been the worst. One moment I want to cry, the next moment I'm cheerful and happy towards everyone."

For Birth Control "I have been on Aviane for two years now. I was a healthy 140 lb when I started, and now I weigh 220 pounds. Aviane, however, did clear up my skin and made it glow! I am not blaming it for my weight gain, but I am definitely making a comparison. I have horrible mood swings and get so angry at the littlest things. Those are unbearable. Other than that, Aviane has done its job for the two years, and I've never been pregnant."

For Birth Control "This pill, Aviane, works as a birth control, and it made my periods super short and super light, and cramps disappeared. That being said, there were a lot of cons associated with this: headaches, nausea, weight gain, acne, acne, acne (my skin was clear before this), and crazy anxiety, depression, and mood swings. I would not recommend. Going to switch back to Ortho Cyclen."

For Birth Control "DO NOT USE! Not only does this birth control NOT WORK, it has horrible side effects, not just on me, but on my roommates who were also prescribed it. We went together and got prescribed Aviane for birth control. Since being prescribed Aviane, I've been extremely irritable, hormonal, angry, depressed, and I am easier to lash out at people for no reason. I've gained a lot of weight and worst of all, I'm covered in cystic acne all over my face, neck, back, and thighs - sometimes on my bum too - I've never gotten acne before taking Aviane!!! And on top of that, I'm 1 month pregnant, even though I took the pill every day, on time, exactly how I was supposed to. My roommates have experienced all the same things. One of them got pregnant 2 months after they started taking it, another gained almost 50 pounds in only a few months, and don't even get me going about all of our acne problems. Ladies: do not use. Aviane birth control doesn't work, you could end up pregnant!!!!"

For Birth Control "First couple weeks I had some nausea and first couple months I had some spotting, nothing a panty-liner couldn't fix. This has been a life-changer. No more painful periods and bloody messes. It cleared up my acne. My skin hasn't looked this good in decades! I haven't gained any weight and my mood hasn't been affected. No headaches or side effects now. I love this stuff. I take it continuously so I don't get a period. I'm 43 and started this about 7 months ago. I should have been on it for the past 30 years!"

For Birth Control "This was the worst birth control I have ever been on. I am honestly stopping birth control because this stuff gave me the worst mental breakdown of my life. I stopped taking it and immediately started bleeding after. I have gotten acne where I have never had it before, and I have had the worst flare-up of BV in my life... not even antibiotics helped. Now I suffer from severe cramps and stuff, and this made things worse... I have never been laid out in bed because of cramps before this medication... 100% do not recommend!!!!"

For Birth Control "Hasn't caused me to gain any weight. I've had less cramping with periods, as well as lighter periods. The only negative side effect I've noticed is I feel a bit more moody/emotional during my periods, other than that, it's fantastic. Probably the best birth control method I've used."

For Birth Control "I feel that this contraceptive has both positive and negative effects. I'm a little disappointed my breasts have not grown at all since I've been on Aviane. My moods are slightly more moody, but my cramps and periods are painless. This is a lower level of birth control, meaning it won't make you gain weight or any other negative side effects others would cause."

For Birth Control "I've been on Aviane for 13 years. I don't experience a single negative symptom, and the few times over the many years I've missed a month (due to vacationing and forgetting my birth control pack at home), my cramps are significant. On the pill, I don't experience cramps, weight gain, mood swings, or anything. Off the pill, I get cramps during my cycle. This BC works very well with my system."

For Birth Control "After my last two birth control experiences (Yaz made me a nightmare and Loestrin 24Fe gave me a rash and hives), this is a welcome change. I've had no problems since I started this pill. My mood is even, and my periods are fine. I'm glad I finally found one that works for me!"

For Birth Control "My only complaint is that my period has not ended, and I'm on day 11. Who wants to bleed for 11 days and counting?! I'm going to my OB/GYN this week and will ask her to switch the pill. I haven't had any other side effects; no cramps, no weight gain, no acne, just abnormal lengthy bleeding."

For Birth Control "I've been on this pill for 2 months now, and I'm growing to like it. During the first month, I experienced the side effects (as expected). My breasts were very swollen and VERY tender. I had to buy new bras to handle the pain. I had one day of nausea and never had issues with it again. I had migraines on and off throughout the first month, and they have gone away. Periods are much shorter, lighter, and much less painful. I have had bare sex on this pill and have not seen any signs of pregnancy. It made my face break out during the first month, however, in month 2, my skin looked WAY better. After about 3 months of taking the pill, all side effects seem to subside!"

For Birth Control "I have been on Aviane for about 4 years now. I was first put on it to regulate my period because I would go without having a period for as long as 3-5 months. I went to my doctor and was told it sounded like I had polycystic ovarian syndrome. Aviane made my periods regular but very light. They are only three days long. I don't know if that would be considered a side effect, but it is what I'm used to. I gained a little bit of weight after starting Aviane, but not very much. I get emotional the week of my period, but nothing too extreme. Overall, I am happy with it and don't see a reason to change brands."

For Birth Control "I'm 23, taking for 3 months. I take my pill every day at the same time, no missed doses. I don't consume the pills during the placebo week. Pros: Not pregnant. Acne has improved. Still get a few blind pimples on the placebo week, though. No longer experience ovulation pain related to cysts. No weight gain. The only thing I've noticed is that my breasts went up about 1/2 cup size, but I had minimal soreness, if any. My period is very light, no cramping. No hair loss, oiliness, normal sex drive, no yeast infections (my doctor recommends taking a probiotic), no migraines, no breakthrough bleeding. No signs of any of the more serious side effects like blood clots, etc. Cons: On the first few days of the placebo week, I experience some depression and anxiety. I do have a history of these issues, though, so that may be a factor. Some moodiness. I don't get as 'wet' during sex. Some fatigue in the first month. In weighing the pros and cons, I'm moderately satisfied taking the pill."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on this Aviane birth control for 8 months now, and it’s made my PMS symptoms and depression so bad. Like a week before my period, I feel like I’m going insane. I feel like every month it makes it worse and worse. Honestly, I don’t think I can take this pill anymore, it’s wrecking my mind. It always made me gain weight, and my boobs are sore 24/7."

For Birth Control "I have been using Aviane for a month and a half now, and I see nothing wrong with it. It did not make me sick. I think I did notice a swing in my mood while I was having my period - not a serious one, but I was more emotional, which I'm normally not. Hopefully, it was just a bad week, but other than that, this pill did not affect my emotions towards more positive or negative."

For Ovarian Cysts "For four months, I have suffered from constant cramps, 24/7. My doctor finally took an ultrasound and found two very large cysts. One was filled with blood. He explained to me this is why I am in so much pain. I also have been experiencing other symptoms: thinning hair, low back pain/throbbing, nausea, ill feeling, facial hair, etc. I went back in, and he finally put me on birth control pills. I am 37 and taking birth control pills for the first time. I am almost two weeks into taking them, and to my relief, I have not suffered any bad side effects, but it's still early. I can only hope that this is a good sign. And I can only hope that my pain will subside and my cysts will dissolve. I have my fingers crossed. Wish me luck!"

For Birth Control "Been on this pill for about 3 years. All of my symptoms that I got when I first started this pill went away after 3 months. Now my period is like clockwork. I know exactly when it will come. It works to purposely skip my period (skip placebo pills and just start the next pack right away), it worked well to not get a period until I had the placebos again. (My doctor recommended that I don’t skip more than three periods in a row.) I’ve really enjoyed this pill, but it’s the only one I’ve ever used. I’m not giving it a ten because I did have some emotional issues the first few months when I started."

For Birth Control "Though I have only been on Aviane for a week, I just wanted to say that it's great! My breasts got bigger within a day or two of starting the pill. They're a bit sore, but it's nothing horrible. I have occasional cramps, but they are infrequent and only last a few seconds. I have noticed that I am hungry a lot more often, but the key to not gaining weight on birth control is to not give in to the increased tummy rumbles. I had a little bit of stomach bloating the first three or so days of starting the pill, but it's subsided now. One more huge benefit I've noticed is that within a day of taking the pill, my mood did a complete 180. I have noticed that, since starting Aviane, I am a lot happier and optimistic. It's great! I highly recommend this pill!"

For Birth Control "I was on Aviane for 2 months. I did not notice any change in my weight or appetite. The only negative side effect I noticed was my emotional state. Exactly a week before my period, I was on an emotional roller coaster. I could be happy, crying, angry, all in a 20-minute period. I knew that I could not live like that a week and a half out of the month."

For Birth Control "If you can make it past the first couple of months of this drug, it's actually really good. I started taking it about five months ago, and the first 2-3 months were really difficult. I had horrible mood swings and would cry at almost nothing fairly often. I also got migraines during the placebo week and had a lot of vaginal dryness. Now that my body has adjusted, I feel normal again, no migraines, no mood swings, and no more dryness. My complexion has also improved. I've had unprotected sex all during these months and no pregnancy. I haven't missed any pills; I only took one about 3 hours late one time. I have already recommended this pill to friends, with the disclaimer to be prepared for the first few months of difficulty."

For Birth Control "I love this birth control. I've been on this pill for 3 months already, and I simply love it. Works in a matter of a week, and it really protects you from pregnancy. My boyfriend and I have sex all the time, and I always get my period on the first day I take my placebo pills. When I started taking this pill, I was 155 lbs, now I'm 146 lbs. I must say losing weight is fantastic. Aviane makes me bloat some days and lose my appetite, but the whole point is you won't get pregnant! Love it."

For Polycystic Ovary Syndrome "My periods were fine. I was ovulating, had normal blood flow, slightly heavy cramps. I started this pill for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome symptoms. While it did clear up my skin a little, it has made me borderline suicidal. Within 3 days, I started hating people, crying at the drop of a hat, becoming irrationally angry, entertaining thoughts of suicide, and becoming severely depressed. I would be losing weight since I have no appetite, except I'm so bloated it doesn't matter."

For Birth Control "This is the best birth control pill ever! I wanted to share my experience with everyone because after choosing the wrong pill before, I realized how important it is to search to find the right pill. I'm on my 3rd month so far, and I see no effect on myself. My weight is the same, my skin is the same, I don't have nausea or a headache (as I experienced on my previous pill called Esme). My mood is normal, as I am as usual. I loved this pill because I see no effect. So, I can move on with my life like I'm not on a pill. I started this pill after reading so many good comments about it, and I definitely recommend it!!!"

For Birth Control "Overall, Aviane works pretty well. My periods are average, and I have had no weight loss or gain. The one side effect I have had is terrible acne! My face was pretty much clear when I started (I'd get minor breakouts around my period, but nothing bad). Within a couple of months of being on Aviane, my cheeks started breaking out really badly. I've never even had acne on my cheeks. It's painful, and there's scarring. I've tried staying on it in hopes that my body would adjust and the breakouts would stop, but they've only gotten worse."
