For Birth Control "First couple weeks I had some nausea and first couple months I had some spotting, nothing a panty-liner couldn't fix. This has been a life-changer. No more painful periods and bloody messes. It cleared up my acne. My skin hasn't looked this good in decades! I haven't gained any weight and my mood hasn't been affected. No headaches or side effects now. I love this stuff. I take it continuously so I don't get a period. I'm 43 and started this about 7 months ago. I should have been on it for the past 30 years!"

For Birth Control "I am a 48-year-old athlete with little body fat. I have not had a period for 4 years. Recently my hair began thinning, and sex has been very painful. My doc suggested that I have blood tests to determine whether or not I was in menopause. The tests showed that my estrogen was low, so he prescribed me Aviane. This pill has been my miracle drug. My hair stopped falling out, sex is no longer painful, and I feel happy all the time. No issues except for very light spotting while taking the hormonal pills. I did call my doc to ask if this was normal, and he said that it was my body adjusting to the new hormone. I am very, very satisfied with the outcome!"

For Birth Control "At 35, I have tried many BC pills out there. I post reviews, good or bad, to let people know of possible benefits or side effects. Low dose levonorgestrel has been the best pill for me. Always the least side effects. Inactive ingredients played a part in how each brand affected me as far as spotting or not. I was switched back to this type of pill after 3 weeks of straight bleeding on a minipill that only got heavier. This pill slowed a lot of the bleeding, but I still have some light spotting. The nurse said once I have that 7-day withdrawal bleed, I shouldn't spot any longer on active pills next month. She most likely is right because any pill I have ever used that has less than 7 placebos or is designed to eventually stop my period, my body retaliates and I get breakthrough bleeding until I switch over to a brand with 7 placebos. Hope this helps any of you ladies having BC pill issues."

For Birth Control "I've been on this birth control for 3 months and have not gained a single pound. I've actually lost weight, which was surprising. I have not had any side effects other than mood swings for the first week I went on it and spotting the week before I got my period. I don't use condoms with this birth control and have sex every other day and still haven't gotten pregnant. I really can't say enough positive things about this birth control."

For Birth Control "I've been on Aviane for about a month now, and I haven't had any issues. Before, I was on Chateal, and I had no sex drive. Then, I tried Lutera, and it gave me extreme anxiety. Aviane has helped me get my sex drive back without causing me anxiety. I read a lot of great reviews on here about Aviane, so I decided to try it. The only issue I have now is light spotting in between periods, but I know that's normal when you switch birth controls."

For Birth Control "I'm finishing up my 1st month of Aviane, and all I have to say is it is great. I've had a little spotting, but it's never that much, and it never lasts for more than a couple of hours. I haven't gotten any mood swings, no weight gain, and my acne has cleared up very quickly. This is definitely the birth control I would like to stay on. Even though everyone's different, this pill works great for me."

For Birth Control "I have been on Aviane for a month now (never been on birth control before), and I am going to start a new pack tomorrow. Personally, I have had no weight gain (I actually lost weight), my moods were a little off the first couple of weeks, but they are back to normal now. I experienced mild spotting at the beginning. However, I did not get my period during the placebo week, so I am a little confused about that. I spotted for around 3 days right before placebo pills, but I don’t believe that it was my period. Also, my skin has broken out significantly (which could be because of my period coming soon????), but it has definitely not done anything to help my skin so far. Hopefully my skin will clear up, because then this pill would be amazing!"

For Birth Control "I've been taking Aviane for a little over a week now. So far, it's alright. Though I have noticed that my boobs hurt extremely bad, and I have been spotting nonstop the whole time. Also, I am breaking out, and I normally have clear skin. But I suppose it could just be my body adjusting to it."

For Birth Control "Aviane is the first birth control pill I’ve ever taken. I’ve been on it for 11 months now. The pros - my skin has cleared up a lot and I barely break out. I haven’t gotten pregnant. I have lost weight, 12 lbs, but I do work out and diet, so that may be why I lost weight. The cons - I’ve had abnormal bleeding since I started the pill. I thought it’d be gone by now, considering “breakthrough bleeding” is very common, but it hasn’t. I don’t think I’ve gone a full week without bleeding, but it’s not like a heavy period. It’s more of spotting, and I wear a tampon so I don't have to deal with the blood. It’s very annoying, and I’m debating on switching BC pills, but I really don’t know how my body will react to an alternative brand. Moods - I don’t really get moody, I’m more blah and laid back. Actually, my moods seem stable now, I used to PMS bad. I would recommend this pill minus the ANNOYING SPOTTING, but I will give it a chance and hope it goes away completely."

For Birth Control "My doctor first prescribed me this medication in October 2017, and I was doing just fine. Now it did help with my acne, but not until December, and ever since I started to take it, I’ve experienced horrible mood swings and depression. Let's not forget the nausea and hot flashes, which is the worst. Other than those symptoms, I didn’t mind it, but by mid-February, I started to have bloody discharge and spotting (breakthrough bleeding). Of course, I called my doctor and explained to him what was going on, and he assured me it’s just my body getting used to it (this late in the game?) and told me to wait 3 months to see if I needed to up my dose. But it is now March, and I can’t take it anymore, so I’ve decided to stop taking it since I’m on my last week, and hopefully, that’ll stop my breakthrough bleeding."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "My doctor prescribed Aviane to me after I was suffering from very severe anemia caused by my ridiculously heavy and painful period. I used to bleed heavily for 10-12 days, meaning I would have to change my pad every 30 minutes or less. This is the first and only birth control pill that I have taken, and I am only taking it for anemia (but consider using it for its original purpose), and it has been a Godsend. My periods are significantly less painful, lighter, and the side effects are not nearly as awful. I have been taking the pill for about 3 1/2 years now, and other than some nausea, spotting, and discomfort for the first couple of months, it's been great. Mood swings occur, but so has breast enlargement. Fair trade in my book."

For Birth Control "I took Aviane for only 10 days, but in that time I gained a bit of weight, had severe migraines almost every day, spotting, and severe nausea. I have migraines triggered easily normally, but this was ridiculous. I woke up one morning and almost threw up because I constantly felt so sick. On day 11, before I could even take my next pill, I started my period very heavily with very painful cramps - I wasn't supposed to start for another 2 1/2 weeks (this is what I was put on the pill to control)."

For Birth Control "My doctor initially put me on Aviane after expressing I was experiencing unbearable ovulation pain. Growing up, I always experienced painful periods as well, so I was always curious about birth control. For the first 3 months, everything seemed fairly normal (with the exception of headaches and mild nausea). My skin cleared up immensely, and I didn't gain any noticeable weight. I noticed I got a little moody during my 2nd week on the pill, but nothing that wasn't manageable. I am now on my 4th month of Aviane and started experiencing extreme nausea 24/7. While finishing my 2nd week, I also started getting stomach cramps and spotting. For someone who is sexually active, getting symptoms like this is obviously worrisome, but after reading a few reviews, it seems like a good number of people have experienced a version of this! Hoping this will pass through because besides this, the birth control has been great."

"I have been taking Aviane for the past 3 years, and I have no complaints whatsoever. You may have headaches, nausea, or spotting when you first begin taking it, but that's just your body getting used to it, don't be fooled by terrifying reviews if they've been taking it for less than three months. Before I started Aviane, my cycles were INSANE. I would be in terrible pain, and the changes in my hormone levels were so extreme that I would often have excruciating migraines and vomit for 8+ hours. Now my periods are very light, regular, and typically last for only 3 days. My skin is clearer, and while I did put on some weight at first, it was less than 10 pounds, and I've already worked it off. I would recommend this pill to women everywhere."

For Birth Control "I've been on Aviane for almost 3 months now. It's my first birth control attempt, and so far, I haven't noticed any weight gain. However, I have been very fatigued and headachey for a few weeks after attempting to skip a period for a month (which I thought had no effect on us). I've also had some irregular spotting, but I think this goes away after the first 1-3 months. So far, I haven't noticed any mood changes, but I do have larger breasts now :) (which is always nice for someone of my previous size). I would recommend this to anyone who can handle a few headaches and possible irregularity for the first few months."

For Birth Control "Update: I made a comment on here in November, 2 months after taking Aviane, and it was good, but now I’m on month 5 and I do not like it. I am constantly spotting and having breakthrough bleeding after my first week of active pills, and it lasts all the way 'til the first week of my next pack. I had terrible acne last month, which I never had before this pill. My moods are always changing, and I get mad super easily. I would be able to deal with it if I wasn’t constantly spotting and bleeding randomly, but I’m going to switch because it’s driving me crazy."

For Birth Control "I was switched to this from Diane 35 after the birth of my 2 girls. I had been on Diane for 12 years and never had a problem. I've been on this pill for 1.5 years now and absolutely don't like it. Within the first month, my acne got worse and has been a struggle since. If I am late taking my pill by even 5 hours, I will start to spot, but then when it comes time for my period, half the time it doesn't come. PMS symptoms are worse as well."

For Birth Control "So I have irregular periods and decided to get back on BC to regulate them. I'm on day 11 of Aviane, and it is the absolute WORST! I started spotting within a day of taking the pill. I figured since it had been a while that was normal. Ugh. Then I started a full-blown period the next day, and it hasn't gone away. I missed one dosage, and that lightened it up, but now that I'm taking it regularly again, it's a heavy cycle again. Also, I've vomited once and have been consistently nauseous and have headaches all day. I try to drink water and eat, but nothing is helping, except laying down, and I can't do that all day. My mood is ridiculous. I cry about everything now. I cried because the sun was out and it was beautiful. SMH. I would say stay away!"

For Birth Control "I started Aviane 2 months ago. My 1st month, in my third week, I started cramping. I started spotting the day before my placebo pill, which was followed by extremely agonizing pain in my stomach and pelvic area. Nothing helped take the pain away (heating pad, Pamprin, Percocet, peppermint tea, hot bath, stretching, etc.). For 3 days I had spotting, and then it was like the floodgates opened on the 4th day. Every hour I was changing a super tampon and pad because the bleeding was that bad, still with the horrible pain. My period this month is now doing the same thing with the horrible pain. My doctor is switching my pills, so hopefully I don't experience this pain again. It's truly the worst pain I have ever felt in my life!"

For Birth Control "I made a previous post right after I started Aviane. Now I'm a month in and back to review how things are going. I've been spotting since day 3. I've been trying to live with it in hopes things will get better, but 3+ weeks of this is really wearing on me. My mood has been normal. Nothing out of the ordinary, except some obvious frustrations regarding constant bleeding. Sex drive (which has been an issue on previous pills) is good. I'd say it's the same as without the pill. I've been having more breakouts. A couple of huge, painful zits that won't seem to go away. I've never had issues with zits much at all before, but not a huge deal. I may be slightly more bloated and hungry than before I was on the pill, but nothing major."

For Birth Control "I have been on Aviane for 4 packs now, and at first, there was spotting for about the first three weeks. Then I had an increased sex drive, but it quickly returned to normal after about a week. In the past 6 weeks, I have been having a problem with canker sores in my mouth. I'm not sure if they are due to the pill, but otherwise, I think it's a good BC pill."

For Birth Control "I started on Aviane to stop my period for a while: I get horrible cramps, and Advil had always been my go-to drug, but I was diagnosed with stomach perforations from taking it, so my gyn thought giving my body a break from my period might be a good idea. I started with NuvaRing because it had the lowest estrogen, but I HATED it: I could feel it inside and within a few days, I had thick white discharge. Aviane has been great so far. I'm almost done with the first 3 weeks, and in the last week, I've had minor cramping and a little bit of spotting, but nothing I haven't been able to handle with no painkillers. Other than that, no side effects - if anything, my sex drive might be a little better. So far, so good!"

For Birth Control "I have been on Aviane for a week now. Already feeling so much better. Have a little bit of spotting, but I'm actually happy to be seeing that. I was on the Depo-Provera shot for almost 3 years, and I haven't had a period in 2 1/2 years and gained about 30 lbs. I couldn't lose weight on the shot no matter how much I've tried, and all I do is eat. Before the shot, I was only 110, so I am still thin. I have a sex drive again, and sex feels better than ever! I am not so moody or angry anymore. So far, this was an amazing change, although it is only the first week, I really enjoy it a lot. I did get scared because of the horror stories, but experiencing it myself is way better! I have a good outcome."

For Birth Control "I've been on Aviane for about 3 months, and so far, it's been pretty good. I've had no weight gain, hardly any spotting, and absolutely no pimples, lighter periods, a few mood swings. I do get migraines, which I got before I started the pill, and nausea, which are both tolerable."

For Birth Control "I have been on many different birth controls, Ortho Tri-Cyclen, Yaz, Yasmin, Mercette, and this is by far the best. Initially when you start it, the first few months you may experience breakthrough bleeding, but this stops by month three. I usually take it around the same time every day, which prevents spotting. It has cleared up my skin for the most part, besides that occasional pimple before my period. My mood swings are the best on this pill, and there is absolutely no weight gain or off-balance of hormones where you feel the side effects of taking hormones. I recommend this birth control to anyone, but just be patient with the adjustment it takes to get acclimated to your body."
