For Major Depressive Disorder "It’s working for me. The first month wasn’t pleasant. I tried to go in with an open mind, but when nothing had happened during the third week, I felt desperate. Then, after the 6th session (third week), I was able to do some minor tasks that had seemed overwhelming. By the end of the 4th week, I felt significantly less depressed—no suicidal thoughts at all, less hopelessness, more willing to engage with the outside world. Feeling some pleasure. I’d estimate that I’ve achieved a 70% lift from one of the darkest and longest passages I’ve ever experienced. I’m currently stabilized at a higher level than what I’ve achieved after adjusting meds until I’m on a combo that works for a while. I ruminate less. I get off the couch occasionally. Most important, my head is clear enough that I can do some work in therapy. Unfortunately, Janssen’s long-term study was for maybe 8 months, so who knows how long it’ll work?"

For Major Depressive Disorder "September 24, 2020, started Spravato after dealing with self-hate, suicidal thoughts, depression, and rage for over 35 years. Being admitted to a mental facility and being prescribed several different medications which worsened the idea of suicide, I felt this was the last option. I am taking 3 sprays per month, and it has helped me a great deal. I take a Zofran shot before treatment and also take 2 Phenergan when I wake up the morning of the treatment to help with nausea, however, I still vomit during the session. I have tried an empty stomach, and that doesn't help either. I am very sensitive to smells now as well. The smell of the doctor's office now makes me sick to my stomach. Other than the side effects, I do think it is a good drug for me. I do seem to lose my train of thought, and if speaking, sometimes I cannot complete sentences and cannot think of words. I am a bit skeptical of the long-term affect of using this drug."

For Major Depressive Disorder "The Spravato nasal spray literally saved my life, and I did it for a year straight. I did end up overdosing by taking it with tramadol that I was given for pain from my third hip surgery that I had no idea would interact with. I only got to the 2nd spray before I had to spray the other into the trash to act like I used it because they refused to believe I had overdosed. I stopped going back for that unless for emergencies. It was perfectly fine for a year, and I felt as if I could live. I used to do acid when I was younger, so tripping never scared me. It is a huge experience for anyone wanting to try it, but if you're at wits end, I'd say go for it. It worked for me. Just remember that tramadol is a MAJOR interaction, and both kratom and klonopin/xanax will make the Spravato less effective when using it. Hope this helps for anyone wanting to try."

For Depression "Spravato Let’s just say this is when you have tried everything else and you still need help. If you think this is just a way to get high, you're wrong. Although my one and only bad experience out of 40 treatments was pretty psychedelic, I just didn’t know where I was. My doctor was nervous. Otherwise, this drug has worked very well for me in certain areas. My suicidal thoughts have lessened by half. Depression down a quarter. This is a new drug so they are still working on it."

For Depression "Spravato has been miraculous for me. The day after my third treatment (first at 84 mg) I felt the darkness lifting. My depression score went from severe depression to mild mood disturbance. I haven’t felt normal in six years. Tried dozens of meds, and nothing. I’m still not 100%, but so much better. I don’t dread my life anymore. The crushing sadness is gone. I know everyone responds differently, but for me it’s been life-changing."

For Depression "I was having suicidal ideations when I got my first Spravato last Thursday. The thoughts went away until Saturday morning when I was a mess. I had my second Spravato Monday and have had no ideations back. I am still depressed, but it is working for me. I have my third treatment tomorrow."

For Depression "I’m happy with my results. It took me until the 4th week to feel substantially better. I’m a few months into a weekly maintenance schedule. I found the treatments somewhat unpleasant initially, but soon grew used to them. My advice: It’s not a miracle cure, so try to temper your expectations—the limited studies have shown that Spravato + a new antidepressant is maybe 30% more effective than a new antidepressant alone. Although the manufacturer contends people might feel better within days, not everyone will. It’s not a psychedelic therapy; any dissociation is a side effect—talk to your doctor about how Spravato works. The intensity of the dissociation is not an indication of how strong a given treatment is. It’s not a treatment for bipolar, anxiety, or PTSD."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I complete week 4 Monday. 84 mg is super strong - can be trippy. Start with 56 mg. Do NOT drive for several hours. Do NOT move around much during the session as you could get nauseous. My depression is much improved so far. Improved, but this is not a magic bullet."

For Depression "I have been doing Spravato treatments for approximately 10 weeks (for bipolar) and I, and everyone who knows me, have seen a wonderful improvement in mood and energy. Prior to starting treatments, I had been sleeping 16+ hours a day and had little motivation to accomplish even basic self-care. Now my sleep is about 9 hours a night and I wake up ready to set and accomplish goals. Having bipolar disorder, I am hypervigilant about not getting manic and so far no manic episodes, just healthy increased energy. Due to my improved condition, I am currently enrolled in three online courses which I am thoroughly enjoying - this would not have been fathomable just three short months ago. Yes, the 2 hours during treatment can be a bit 'trippy' and uncomfortable, and I agree with other posters, surround yourself with comforting, soothing things. Listen to soft music, wear comfortable clothes or watch uplifting videos."

For Depression "People need to understand that no one is the same and that everyone will have different reactions. Take me for example (then compare it to the experiences of others): Diagnosis: MDD & CPTSD Dose: 84 mg Duration: 4+ months Prior use of psychedelics: None As for me, I’ve found substantial relief for the first time ever (42 years of age). I’ve had 2 experiences of disassociation, which were extremely pleasant, controllable and very mild, at best. At no time have I had any “out-of-body” experiences, no dizziness, no side effects at all — other than mild sedation afterwards (for approximately 20-30 minutes). TMS did not work, nor did ECT or DBT. Ketamine infusions worked well, that is until I developed severe UTIs, kidney stones, and a PSA level of 9.8! I could go on and on, but the point of this review is to show the lack of correlation between my experience and those of others. BOTTOM LINE: WHEN IT COMES TO MENTAL HEALTH, NEVER TAKE THE ADVICE OF ONLINE REVIEWS."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I had my 6th treatment today. I have struggled with depression for 32 years. Meds have helped, but I was kind of out of options. Spravato has been amazing for me so far. I was doing quite well going into treatment, but my brain just hurt, was still slow to think, and joy was stagnant. My experience of Spravato has been a spiritual experience. During treatment, my prayer is focused, and my mind recalls so many good things in my life, like the things and people that matter the most are front and center. I have listened to some music, and other times am just quiet. I am fully present, but at the same time, my brain is clear and fixated on whatever I am thinking of. Speech, words in music just seem to slow down, I can hear everything perfectly. This lasts for about 45 minutes. My brain pain and depression are gone. I can think more clearly, my sense of humor is fully back. Small things don't seem to upset me quite as much. This medication has helped me, and I am encouraged."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have now completed 10 treatments with Spravato, and I find myself more alert, focused, less moody, and just happier overall. I was diagnosed with depression in 1992 and have taken several other medications and TMS. Everyone around me has commented on how much happier I appear. I am also doing Cognitive Behavior Therapy sessions along with the Spravato treatment. I wish I had discovered this earlier."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have had treatment-resistant depression for 31 years. My doctor suggested Spravato. I had thought about suicide many times but never had a plan. Now, I was scared. Even though I started Spravato, I made a plan to kill myself. I didn't want to live anymore. I continued with the treatments faithfully. 84 mg for 16 total treatments. Around the 10th treatment, the thought of killing myself lessened more and more. Spravato saved my life. I don’t know how, but it did. There is hope. The suicidal thoughts have lessened. Now I am coming out of my isolation, negative thoughts, pessimism, and everything that depression brings with it. For Major Depressive Disorder "I have struggled with depression and anxiety for years. I have tried many different meds. In 2019, I lost my middle son. In 2021, I lost my youngest son, and in January 2023, I lost my partner. I ended up in this hopeless, anxiety-ridden depressive state along with PTSD from having to drive my son's car after he had been in there for 2 days after he passed away. I thought about suicide 24/7. I am on week 3 of the treatment. I am taking the 84 mg 2x per week. All I can say is I couldn't remember what it felt like to not be in this brutal pain, and this is the first time in such a long time that I feel hopeful that something will finally work. I am feeling better every day. This is not a cure-all, and I went into this treatment recognizing that. I still have a lot of work to do and therapy ahead of me, but this has been a game-changer so far."

"I have tried to manage mood/depression issues since my early teens. Every antidepressant had no effect. I experience an out-of-body experience during the Spravato treatments. For Major Depressive Disorder "I've been on Spravato for 6 months and it got me through a period I'm not sure I could have endured otherwise. I highly recommend it. I started EMDR therapy last month, and EMDR + Spravato has been so incredible. It's like I started all over again. Definitely recommend, but I super recommend it with EMDR if you can swing it. They're like two sides of the same coin. My brain is quiet some days, and that feels like a miracle."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I've had nothing but a positive experience with Spravato. The key to getting the most effective treatment is to just relax and avoid any distractions, such as your cell phone. Close your eyes, lay back, and let the drug do its work. Then you will get the best experience. If you are distracted, it will not work as well as it can. I've been on Spravato for 6 years, and I can't say enough good things about it. It gives me a sense of normalcy if only for a while. Just relax and let it do its magic."
