Dupilumab "My EOE got to a point where I was having trouble eating most of the time. I've had dilation and tried swallowed oral steroids, which worked fairly well and better than omeprazole. But with swallowed oral steroids (fluticasone), I still had periods where I had more trouble swallowing and short (but painful!) blockages. With Dupixent, my symptoms are GONE. No trouble swallowing, no blockages. At times, I have a slight slowdown in food moving through my esophagus, but I think that has more to do with 48 years of EOE that was untreated and some inevitable damage that has been done. This has been my miracle drug."

Dupilumab "I’ve been taking Dupixent for 10 weeks now, and I’m quite pleased with Dupixent. Its response time is pretty much immediate, which has given me the much-needed relief it promises. In addition, I’ve noticed how quickly I feel the return of the symptoms of EoE when it’s time to do my weekly dose. 5 stars."

Dupilumab "I have been on Dupixent for 2 weeks now. No side effects so far. I did not think the shot hurt as bad as I was expecting from reviews. The first thing I noticed was I could breathe better. This is not what I was using it for, but it's a nice bonus. I have had EOE for 25 years. My esophagus is very damaged to the point they can't fit a camera down my esophagus or do any dilation. It is very painful for me to eat most food, so I have been living on smoothies and soup. I do feel like I have more energy. I don't feel much of a change yet eating, but it has only been a few weeks and I have a lot of healing to do."

Dupilumab "I have suffered from EoE and other GI-related issues my entire life. I have required emergency care for esophageal food bolus obstruction resulting from my EoE. Swallowing and eating food was difficult. My gastroenterologist suggested Dupixent after more trying conservative treatment options. My EoE signs/symptoms have improved and my esophagus has healed. Dupixent changed my life, and I am grateful for it! I no longer fear eating or worry if I’ll end up with another obstruction. In my opinion, the only downside to this medication (when prescribed and taken correctly) is Dupixent’s cost. It was problematic when I lost health insurance/prescription drug coverage. I called the patient assistance number and, unfortunately, didn’t meet their very stringent requirements. I am very fortunate to have a physician who advocated for me and for a Dupixent representative who stepped in to ensure I received this life-changing medication!"

Dupilumab "I use the pen, and it is definitely a bit spicy. I take it on Sunday mornings and have found if I take it out of the fridge the night before, it helps a lot. It’s towards the end of the injection that I have to wince a bit. It’s just a sharp kind of pain, but it’s not unbearable. Once it’s done injecting, the pain pretty much stops immediately. That being said, the area is swollen for a bit, sometimes I get a big red welt that looks like an allergic reaction, but it’s not. Just an injection site reaction that seems to be normal with this medication. It’s gone by the next day. The injection site does not like band-aids. I’ll put one on for a bit just to catch any minor seepage or blood from the injection, but I’ll take it off after 15 minutes, otherwise, the redness and swelling are 10 times worse. All that to say, it’s done wonders for me. With the first dose, my eczema cleared up, and I haven’t had any more “allergic reactions” or issues eating really anything."

Dupilumab "This has been life-changing, I can finally swallow normally without convulsive hiccups and mucus pulling from my stomach. I do feel the design of the self-injecting pen is horrible. Very painful as I am lean with little belly fat. It injects 2 full mL subcutaneously, this is unheard of. Leaves a huge bubble on my skin, and about every 4th shot I lose 50% of the medicine due to it being unable to fit under my skin and leaking out. A vial and insulin syringe would be 1000% better."

Dupilumab "I have asthma and EOE, and I just want to tell you how much this drug has changed my life for the better! My esophageal count was really extreme, over 130, which my doctor said is one of the highest counts he's ever seen. The issues with swallowing were honestly the least of my issues. I had it so bad that it would attack my airways when I ate certain foods and I could not breathe. An inhaler helped very little, and I would get sick (throw up) because of me being unable to breathe and the irritation and pain I had in my esophagus/stomach. My doctor suggested Dupixent because I was such an extreme case, and I am so thankful he did! It's been such a game-changer for me. It takes a few doses to really get you feeling amazing, but you notice a difference after each shot. To me, this saved my life, and I can now live a more normal and pain-free life. I can breathe, food doesn't get stuck, and I'm able to sleep so much better at night because I don't feel irritable."

Dupilumab "Within just weeks, I could swallow better and eat more normally again. The first couple doses did make me feel strange and tired, but now I only notice some vision issues for a couple of days after each shot. The shot is easy to use, and discomfort is minimal."

"As of today, I've had no real side effects. I have been on this since February 2024. I just don't enjoy injecting myself every week. I have been able to eat more normally since on this medication. Thank you."

Dupilumab "My 25-year-old son has had EOE since around 2 years old. Watching him struggle to live through the years has been traumatic for all of us. He has starved, down to an extremely low weight more than once. Hospitalized many times and given a feeding tube. We eat to live, and he couldn't. His throat would close to the size of the opening of a straw. My son is also on the spectrum, which made this disease even more of a challenge. He has been on Dupixent for a year, and let me tell you... he is living because of this miracle medication. If I could hug the makers of this drug, I would. They saved my son's life. On his last scope, there were no eosinophils. Thank you!!!"
