"I started taking Loryna about 3 months ago, and I've never felt worse! I feel bloated all the time, get severe headaches (which I normally never get), have gained stomach issues, and to top it off, I have put on a few pounds. Plus, Loryna also makes me feel sad 24/7! And if I'm not sad, then I'm having outrageous mood swings. This oral contraceptive is definitely not the one for me. However, everyone is different, so take my experience as you please."

"I have been taking Yasmin for 8 years (with a 10-month break after 5 years). I stopped to have a baby, pregnant within the first month off the pill and back on it right after birth. This pill has been great! Clear skin, no weight gain or side effects. I think people starting any pill will have a rough beginning but give it a chance. All body types are different, so nothing works for everyone... But this worked great for me."

"So this is my first time taking birth control, and I'm 19, and I'm only starting my second week on Syeda. So far, it has been very bad for me. I already have anxiety, and so far it has made it 100% worse to where I feel like I'm backtracking with my mental health, like I can't control it. My acne is starting to have redness, and I never really had that before, and I'm eating so much. I'm getting my birth control changed ASAP and would not recommend."

"Personally, it gave me huge amounts of anxiety and depression. Before starting the pill, I was a super happy 'normal' person. After taking this birth control, it was like my daily life was a struggle with anxiety, and I was lucky to have a day without any symptoms. Absolutely horrible experience for me. I was taking it to control my PMS and severe cramping I get during my period, and it did an amazing job with that, but not worth the anxiety."

"I hate writing bad reviews, but please do not use this birth control! I have been on it over a month and bleeding nonstop, having anxiety attacks all day long while at work, intrusive awful thoughts, vision feels different and blurry, feeling depressed and moody one minute, the next I'm fine. Will not be taking any more pills on this brand. I was on Loryna (which they say is comparable), and it is not. I felt perfectly fine on Loryna and figured it would be the same on Gianvi. It’s not, I don’t want this to happen to anyone else, so please girls watch out."

"I was prescribed this birth control, but after reading the awful reviews, I was seriously considering going back to the doctor to ask for another. I decided to give it a try, and I've had absolutely no side effects. This is my first time taking birth control, and it really worked perfectly for me. I usually have a lot of acne, and that has cleared up a lot already, which is a big plus! Don't be discouraged by the other reviews, it might work for you too!"

"I was on Ocella for about 14 years. I didn't gain weight nor get acne. It was actually a GREAT experience. I'm now getting off it to clean my system, but I highly recommend this pill. I would get my period for about 3 days with no pain."

"I've gotten into a serious relationship this past year, and I opted to get birth control. I have had the Xulane birth control patches and the generic Yaz, Gianvi. Xulane gave me every side effect possible-mood swings, nausea, and headache, and Gianvi made me have mood swings. I asked my pharmacist to give me the non-generic version, and I finally got Yaz. I've had zero side effects, no mood swings, no weight gain, and glowing skin! If you're hesitant to try because of previous bad reviews, give it a shot! I am the person who has every possible bad side effect of every drug, and I highly recommend it!"

"I recently started the Yasmin pill, and at first, I honestly didn't think I would be able to carry on with it because it was making me feel so nauseous! I also got really bad headaches, which caused me to be really moody. However, my doctor told me to give it a few weeks to settle and for my system to get used to it. I was not happy about this, let me say! I wanted to scream at her to feel how ill I felt. It got better though, on the fifth day, I woke up, and I felt fine all of a sudden, all of the side effects I was feeling had just gone. I had terrible skin, and it has made my skin so much better, and I feel fine now. If you're taking it and you're feeling ill like I did - I know it feels like crap, but honestly, just hold on, because it will go."

"Been on Yasmin for 6 months now after years on all other brands under the sun. I have always been fit and healthy, but for some reason on this pill, I am even thinner. I can't gain weight no matter how bad I eat, it's amazing! The only downside is I am so hungry a lot of the time, but it's awesome because it doesn't lead to any weight gain, so I can eat as much as I want! Also, no cramps at all, and I used to get them bad. Limited headaches. Finally, after 12 years, I've found something that works super well for me."

"This is the absolute worst birth control! I was taking the name brand Yazmin for years, and I never had any issues with it. I moved, and the pharmacist gave me the generic brand Syeda. I didn’t have any issues with it until 2 months in. I started experiencing the WORST anxiety and panic attacks, spotting, and the worst cramps. I have never had any of these issues before, nor did I ever have anxiety or panic attacks until I started taking this. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of Syeda."

"Been on Yasmin for 5 years. Always had brain fog. Gained 50 lbs. Lost hair. Stressed. Appetite went way up. Recently decided to go off the pill. After the period, I instantly felt better. Sex drive is coming back. Just feel good. Hope it keeps up, but I'm not going back."

"I had a very severe stroke from using Yasmin, it was ten years ago but has still left me seriously disabled. Ladies, if you want to use birth control, just make sure that it is progesterone only, which is much safer for you. NOT combined estrogen and progesterone like Yasmin and Yaz. My neurologist, a stroke expert, gave me this information!"

"Yaz has been a complete lifesaver. I used to suffer with heavy bleeding and cramps that had me bedridden. I've been on Yaz since 16, and I don't regret it at all. I have absolutely no side effects, and there are no complications with my health either. If you're a first-timer, Yaz is the way to go."

"I've been on this pill for the past ten years, and I love it. I've never had a menstrual cramp in my life, I never feel PMS symptoms (bloating, cravings, moodiness, etc.). It has been helpful with acne. One downside is my sex drive has diminished, but it's hard to tell if the pill is the culprit, as I've been on it for ten years. No weight gain from this either!"

"Was on Yasmin for 6 years and for the first few years, everything was fine. No side effects at all. Until recently, when I started getting low moods, severe anxiety, IBS, and then ended up in A&E with severe abdominal pain, which turned out to be gallstones, all of which were attributed to this pill. So, cons: • Anxiety • Depression • Gallstones • IBS Pros: • Didn't get pregnant • Clear skin • Regular periods Did the pros worth the cons? Absolutely not."

"I regret ever taking this. Took it for 7 years. Everything was great while on it, but I lost about 40% of my hair volume (telogen effluvium) and had severe cystic acne for 6 months after it. On top of that, it messed with my humor. I felt angry and sad for months. It's now 1.5 years since I stopped it, and even though the condition has improved, I still have a long way to go. I had to cut my hair short, and I'm trying to fix the scarring from the acne."

"At first, I was really scared to start with Nikki because I’m a first-time birth control user, and I saw so many bad reviews here. But I tried it anyway, and I’m so glad I did. I’ve been on it for a full month now, and I didn’t experience any spotting or extreme nausea or things like that. Three days after I first started taking the pill, I had a bit of cramping, but nothing intolerable. I just have a lot of discharge (which is probably caused by the pill), so I have to wear pantiliners frequently. However, the withdrawal period came just in time (three days after I took my last active pill). My skin was already clear before I took Nikki, and it still remains clear until now. No weight gain, no acne whatsoever. It also didn’t affect my sex drive at all, in fact, it gave me peace of mind. All I can say is that everyone has different reactions to this pill, and it’s worth trying!"

"DO NOT TAKE THIS IF YOU WERE SWITCHED FROM GIANVI. I was on Gianvi for a year and had no issues at all, and my pharmacy switched me to Nikki last month. Since I switched, I have bloated, felt depressed, and have acne (and I have never had more than two zits in my entire life). Do not let your pharmacy switch you to Nikki! I am going to try non-generic Yaz and see how that goes. I do not usually write reviews, but these last few weeks on it have been miserable!"

"I've only been on this for a few days, so I don't have much to say about it, but all I can say is I suffer from depression and anxiety and was on another brand of birth control and felt so, so depressed, it made it so much worse. My gyno switched me to this one, and in the matter of only 3 days of taking it, I can say I feel happier than I normally did without any type of bc. My bloating also stopped after switching to this one, the other one I was taking made me feel heavy, depressed, and tired. The only thing I've noticed about this one so far is my breasts are a little bigger, but I can't complain about that because I love that!"

"I am in my second week of my second month of this BC and have been nauseous every day, along with having terrible headaches. I honestly feel worse now than I ever did during my pregnancies. Wouldn’t recommend."

"I LOVE GIANVI! No mood swings, no weight gain, it's helped my acne, it controls my appetite, and my breasts have actually gotten bigger. I have been on and off Gianvi for three years now (I tried different birth controls here and there, but I always come back to Gianvi because it has always been the best for me), and it's absolutely free! I definitely recommend it, but like always, everyone is different."

"I started Yaz a year ago, and all was fine for the first few months, but I started getting so moody, so I decided to stop. Then, after 4 months, I started again, and it’s been the worst decision of my life. The only benefits are no pregnancy and less pain on my period. My mood swings have been crazy and unending, and my anxiety and depression are following me everywhere. I’m losing contact with myself, and I don't know who I am anymore because I feel so numb. I have lost interest in people I know I love, and I’ve become lazy. I have decided that I will stop today."

"It's been 3 weeks now, and I have decided to stop taking it. I was on Blisovi before. The Yaz pill made me EXTREMELY emotional. I have already been diagnosed with anxiety and depression, and this pill made it that much worse. I began having really negative thoughts, along with emotional tantrums and horrible mood swings. My sex drive is at an all-time low. Please do not take this pill if you are prone to anxiety or depression."

"This birth control pill Yaz has made me not recognize who I am. I was such a fun, outgoing, lovable person. I've been taking it for two months now, and it has almost ruined my relationship with my boyfriend. These past two months, I have cried, been annoyed (at anything), and lashed out at everyone around me. It has made me feel like I have no control over my body or my personality, I was once so proud of. I started taking it just to regulate my period, and all it has done is make me feel like garbage about my (usually confident) self, deleted my sex drive, made me aggressive, given me two UTIs, and dampened my mood completely."
