Diazepam for Anxiety "This is the best anti-anxiety medicine there is. It doesn't leave you with more anxiety if you don't take your next dose due to the long half-life. Xanax and Ativan, for example, have short half-lives so you feel terrible in a few hours. Stick to good old-fashioned Valium for anxiety."

Diazepam for Anxiety "I started having anxiety attacks and intrusive thoughts, I have OCD. I've been taking diazepam since November 30, 2024, and now I will slowly start to taper off of it. It worked very well with the anxiety, I slept very well during the night. I only took 5 mg of it. I hope the taper goes smoothly and see if anxiety leaves me alone, if not, I'll start diazepam again or maybe an SSRI according to what the therapist suggests to me."

For Anxiety "Best treatment for panic attacks out there, in a time-tested medication. Recently been found to be closest to the body's natural neurotransmitters compared to other benzos. You can get addicted to any drug. I've tried many antidepressants. Bad side effects. Terrible side effects. Look at risperdal. If I have a headache, I take some Tylenol or Motrin and 9 times out of 10, my headache goes away. I can't take any drug that might take 2 weeks or longer to start working. Maybe. If I'm having a panic attack, I can't wait 2 weeks. I need something that works quickly. And if I have a seizure, I don't wanna wait weeks for that either. I consider this drug like my insulin. I was diagnosed with severe anxiety disorder among other things, and I have had seizures before. Valium works best for me. 5mg in the morning, and I am productive and fine for 8 to 10 hours. This medication has been a lifesaver for me for a long time. I do not believe it deserves the bad reputation it has for being SO addictive."

For Meniere's Disease "I have used Valium on and off for years, just a small dose - half of a 5mg when needed to treat tinnitus and vertigo. Now I've been told by my GP they won't prescribe it anymore - they told me after the last visit not to ask for it again. It's such a useful drug with very few side effects, but GPs are denying us something that actually works, why?!"

Diazepam for Anxiety "I have been suffering with Bipolar, Severe Depression & Severe Anxiety for many years now & have been put on & tried many different drugs by doctors BUT the only thing that works is Valium & I take up to three 5 mg per day & I feel so good. I can function, I am way more productive & I actually get out & talk to people which is normally a no-no for me. I also get a great appetite which I don't have if I don't take any. I was under a great psychiatrist for many years until he retired. I then had to move to the country where it was extremely hard to even find a GP but I finally did. I have had to go private & he has put me onto a barrage of new doctors to see in the New Year who are all private as well so I am stressed about paying for all of these at the moment & getting the new GP to give me any Valium is like asking for his kidney but on 2 rare occasions he has given ten 10 mg Temazepams which did help but I had to stretch them out."

Diazepam for Meniere's Disease "I have severe tinnitus. Extremely loud ringing/clanging 24/7, exacerbated by allergies and sinus infections. My doctor gave me 2 mg Valium yesterday to help with the ringing, and it is the first time in so long that I can't recall that the ringing has subsided almost all the way. It had progressed to the point that nausea and vertigo were constant, and blood pressure was seriously elevated. Valium has helped more than I can express. Relief at last after years of this."

Diazepam for Anxiety "I'm 24 and have PTSD, bipolar, and anxiety disorder. I have recently had the scariest panic attacks, 911 calls, and ER visits. So bad I thought I was dying every night. I took Klonopin, and it didn't help. My doctor prescribed this today, and I haven't felt this relaxed or not in fear in a long time. I'm thankful for this medication. I couldn't handle it anymore. Nothing else has helped."

Diazepam for Muscle Spasm "I suffer from lower back pain. I had a back fusion in November 2013, about 6 months ago, I started having really bad back spasms around the area they did the fusion, which was my L5/S1. They had me on Flexeril, but it did not help. They tried Valium, and it works. I do not take it every day, only when I have the spasms. Between that and the Percocet, it is the only thing that works. But I only take them as needed."

For Muscle Spasm "I’ve taken Valium fairly regularly for about 8 years. First started out prescribed 10 mg daily as needed, always broke in halves or even quarters. Then got a new script for 5 mg daily, still mostly break in half, take a whole a couple times a week if needed. It’s the best med, hands down, I’ve tried for chronic pain: migraines, degenerative spine arthritis, herniated disc (spine surgery), sciatica, muscle spasms in my neck and lower back. Also for bad chronic TMJ, I’ve made a paste in a small bit of water, rubbed it on my back gums. Almost immediate relief. I’ve tried to be judicious about taking it. Even though it’s a benzo, and not an opiate, it can be very difficult to get off it. Because it’s so good. I also experienced little to no side effects. Sometimes woozy as with a Sudafed or similar. Nothing alarming. Anyways, hope this is helpful. If your doctor will prescribe it, (sometimes they’re hesitant), get it. Try it out."

For Anxiety "Highly effective & reliable for anxiety & panic with no side effects. I take 5mg as needed, usually once every few days, and have done for years with no addiction or need to increase the dose. This drug has an undeserved bad reputation due to abuse by a minority, which is a shame as it has become harder for people who would benefit to access this valuable tool."

For Meniere's Disease "23 years ago I woke up and felt high. Diagnosed with Meniere’s, Mal de barquement?, horrible tinnitus, anxiety/panic attacks, allergy issues, and depersonalization as well, hence the high feeling. The first 7 years I struggled through Zoloft, Lexapro, allergy meds, and back surgery until one day a friend told me to ask my doctor to try Valium. Game changer!! After the very first 5 mg dose of diazepam, I felt a sense of calm for 2 days that I had not felt in 7 years. The last 16 years I don’t think I would’ve made it if it weren’t for “Mother’s Little Helper.” Over time I’ve gone from 5 mg daily to 10 mg, my body craved more based on my symptoms worsening. Still, I get panic/anxiety attacks once in a while, but they have never sent me to the hospital like during those initial 7 years of suffering. I’m turning 50 soon and planning to somehow make it till the end with diazepam's help! Good luck to you all!!"

Diazepam for Anxiety "I was 20 when I began having severe panic anxiety. I have been taken to the ER many, many times, doctors saying nothing was wrong with me. Finally, a doctor gave me Valium 10 mg, 4 times a day to start. I took it for 2 years at that dose, then went down to 5 mg, 3 times a day. Now, after 52 years, I am at 2 mg as needed. It's been long, but it has always helped me - saved my life. It is a terrible problem with panic anxiety. Through the years, I was tried on other meds, but this was the best and had no side effects, only relief. I will take it till I pass... I do not feel I was ever addicted because I never used more than told, and my dose never increased. I am grateful to Valium."

Diazepam for Anxiety "I take Valium 2mg PRN for panic attacks. I was nervous about using it. I also had this warped idea that I would be labeled a pill head for taking a drug like Valium. I can honestly say that Valium is a lifesaver. The first time I took it, all I could think about was how I regretted not taking it sooner. I can actually live my life now. You have to be careful though. It is very easy to build a tolerance to it. Use the lowest amount you need because you would be surprised how much of a difference 1 mg will make. I have been trying to use it as a tool rather than a crutch. I also have ADD, and Valium helps me fall asleep at night when I feel restless."

Diazepam for Anxiety "My disclaimer is: Valium is highly effective in treating stress and anxiety reactions. It has a wide therapeutic index. It is sometimes overly effective, thus why people abuse it. If you do, I can promise the effects will be life-damaging. When taken responsibly (usually a few times a week as needed), it is safe & a godsend for those crippled with anxiety. I had no side effects."

Diazepam for Muscle Spasm "It gives me rapid relief of my muscle spasms starting within 10 minutes. It's the only 'as needed' medication I know of, whereas the others I've been prescribed are 'take at scheduled times' meaning they have slow bioavailability and one may be taking unnecessary doses."

For Muscle Spasm "I have herniated discs in my neck, which causes terrible pain between and around my shoulder blades and down my left arm. I also have herniated discs in my lower back, and the pain goes into my left hip and left leg. With fibromyalgia added onto this, days can be pretty bad, to say the least. For the past 6 years, I can honestly say there is nothing I haven’t tried: root blocks, trigger point injections, Botox, physio, acupuncture, possibly every home remedy going, and all the nasty meds, e.g., Gabapentin, Amitriptyline, etc. and nothing has worked except Diazepam! I honestly don’t know what I’d do without it. I only have the 2 mg tablets and use them for emergencies only, as the doctor is really reluctant to prescribe regularly and seems like I’m not the only one having this problem after reading other reviews here. So, when my pain is at its max, when I can’t literally move as my back is in so much spasm, that’s when I take it, the rest of the time, I just have to put up with the pain daily."

Diazepam for Meniere's Disease "I've suffered with Meniere's/vestibular neuritis for over 37 years and it has cast a dark shadow over my quality of life. The only medicine that has helped me to live with the episodes (loss of balance, vertigo, disequilibrium) has been Valium. Because Valium suppresses the central nervous system, it helps me to cope."

Diazepam for Alcohol Withdrawal "I have been taking valium for the last 10 years. Before I was a raging alcoholic and always put myself in danger because of the effects of the alcohol. It should be illegal because it is a terrible drug. My life has been normal for the past ten years now and I have a happy family thanks to one little pill."

For Anxiety "I've been using Valium on and off for over 20 years. It is the only drug that helps my anxiety. I can't take SSRIs or other antidepressants because they trigger rapid cycling mania/depression. I take 2.5 mg when my anxiety gets too bad, and when going through a particularly bad time, I will take it every day, then wean off when things settle. I have been doing this for 2 decades and know how to handle the withdrawals. Unfortunately, I can't take it every day long-term because it worsens my depression when I use it daily for longer than a month. This drug has honestly saved my life and my sanity, but it is becoming harder to get a prescription for it because the younger crop of doctors are so set against it. Which is better - to suffer with debilitating anxiety that makes you suicidal, or to be dependent on a highly efficient drug that allows you to function normally? Doctors need to get out of their ivory towers."

Diazepam for Anxiety "I have severe GAD since my teens but it really hit me harder in my early 20s. I had been taking generic Valium for 8 years then got into a psychiatrist. At first, he switched me over to Xanax 1mg 3 times daily, which works for immediate panic attacks but would wear off very quickly. I would wake up first thing in the morning with my heart racing and had to take 1. I told him this and got switched back to my original dose of Valium which lasts all day, 1 and a half 10mg in the morning and the same at night. I no longer had to wake up first thing for my meds, and they pretty much prevent my panic attacks unlike the Xanax. I can function just fine, work with people now that I'm at the right dose, and not be self-conscious. Great medication!"

"I woke from a C56 fusion in 2007 with vertigo symptoms and inability to use my shoulders/arms. After a year of not being able to even walk and losing 50 pounds, I was diagnosed with cervical vertigo. Valium is the only med that allows me life where I can be vertical, walk, and move around. I had a blood test that showed my body doesn't absorb it like the average person. I have tried 6 mg, 8 mg, tried taking 2 mg 5 times a day, and the only way I have a life is 5 mg night and day. Now in 2025, my pain management is retiring and can't find anyone to help. Using my arms causes migraines, C56 is known to affect shoulders. I need oxy for that. This has been my regimen for 20 years, and now nobody wants to give me Valium and definitely not with oxy. I'm in trouble. Spinal cord implant C3-6 with battery causes vibration that causes migraines. Trying occipital blocks and Medtronic's new battery that has less vibration, crossing fingers. Now, another implant for occipital is recommended to try."

Diazepam for Anxiety "Bless the doctor who finally saw this drug as an anodyne for me. I have arterio-venous necrosis, which means my joints are collapsing due to the death of tiny blood vessels, a very painful condition causing difficulty walking and using my arms. Valium not only relieves the pain, it also calms the crippling fear of falling, which keeps me from progressing with my physical therapy after the hip replacement, which I'm finally beginning to walk again after more than 2 and a half years on the Rollator. It allows me to sleep, it blots out social anxiety, and it prevents nausea and muscle spasms. I call it my anodyne... it is THE medicine for me. If I am addicted to it, so be it. I'm addicted to having a livable quality of life! Thank you, Diazepam!"

For Anxiety "I rate diazepam a '10', it's still the best & safest in its class - but only when taken very sparingly. I liken it to a 'fire extinguisher', use only in case of emergency. If you take on a daily schedule (e.g., 3 times a day, every day) then you're making yourself a slave, and you'll be dull-witted & stupid much of the time. Just like reliance on any pill. We owe it to our families, friends, employers and ourselves to be productive, happy and helpful. I have the 5 mg tablets in case of emergency. It acts fast, not too strong. There's no craving for 'another pill' hours or even days later, because it's very long-acting. Be smart. Use only in case of a real emergency and it's the best."

Diazepam for Muscle Spasm "Last week I went to the emergency room with my neck completely frozen and a blinding headache. After 72 hours of trying heating pads & everything from Advil to Flexeril to Vicodin with NO effect, I was convinced it had to be meningitis. My BP (normally a chill 120/70) was 145/92, so when the doc said 'I'm not trying to minimize what you're going thru, but you've just got a stiff neck, I'm giving you Valium', I was furious. Well, my apologies to the ER doc, because so far it has worked like a charm--only 4 days and I've got 80% of my mobility back, and the remaining pain is manageable with Advil. I always thought Valium was only an anti-anxiety drug, but I'm happy to have been mistaken. I'd highly recommend this as short-term treatment for muscle spasm, Flexeril had always been my go-to, but if for some reason it's ineffective on your spinal pain, Valium is great. However, I can't WAIT to get off it: I feel it's really impaired my mental acuity."
