For Birth Control "So I've only been on this pill for a month. Before this, I was on Yasmin for a month, and before that, I was on Junel Fe for 4 months, and before that, Lo Loestrin Fe for 2 months. I know it's still pretty early, but so far it is a great pill. On Yasmin, I was a monster. My temperament is usually very laid-back and carefree, but I was an emotional, depressed mess. After switching to Apri, it almost feels like an antidepressant for me. I'm in such a happy, good mood all the time. So far, I've only gotten sad one day the week before my period week, where I cried a little, but nothing compared to last month on Yasmin. So far, no weight gain either, my skin hasn't broken out on this, and my boobs are getting bigger (plus for me, being an A cup)."

For Birth Control "I've been on Reclipsen for a few years now. I loved it, had no problems until the past 8 months. My PMS-type symptoms grew increasingly worse and have started to severely affect my life. I feel crazy, mood swings changing within the same hour. Depressed and feeling like something is always off and wrong. Will be switching birth control next week."

For Birth Control "I wrote a review about this birth control when I first got on it. I had a positive experience both then and now and wanted to update. This is the only pill (or birth control method at all) that has worked so well for my body. Everyone is different, of course, but I haven’t had any bad side effects at all! Before I got on any birth control, I would have the worst period cramps that I couldn’t move or perform daily tasks. This pill has helped significantly with my period cramps and hasn’t contributed to any acne or weight gain. I used to be on Azurette and had the worst anxiety and depression ever. It’s crazy to me how just a slight difference in the formulation of a pill can have such a drastic effect. I feel like most of the time people only write about when they had a bad experience, so I feel it is necessary to share when we have good ones, too! Definitely worth the trial and error, and I’m grateful I found one that works for me."

For Birth Control "Haven’t gotten pregnant on this, and my period is pretty light. It lasts about 5 days. My face is also pretty clear, except for random chin breakouts. However, I am SO moody/ sporadically depressed, have gained 15 lbs, and have a severely decreased sex drive. I kept thinking something was wrong with me because I’ve always been very easy-going/positive, but I’m beginning to think it’s this pill. Beware!"

For Birth Control "This is the worst birth control I've ever taken. I have been on it for a few months now, and it's making me miserable. Depression, constant aches and pains, bloating, decrease in sex drive, and yeast infections are most of my symptoms. Do not take this. I am going to quit taking birth control altogether if I cannot replace this one because I would rather have awful periods than deal with all of these side effects."

For Birth Control "Enskyce honestly is the worst birth control I've had. I have had depression on a previous pill (Cyred) before, but that was always just two days before my period. This one gives me really bad mood swings, going from being fine to being super angry or completely depressed to the point of crying. This is all within the first two weeks of taking the pills. I've also started getting really bad headaches about an hour after taking the pill and have felt really fatigued. I have never experienced this many side effects within the first month of taking a birth control pill. I've been on Cyred and Reclipsen. Reclipsen was the best for me, but they changed it at the pharmacy because 'they're the same thing.' Obviously not."

For Birth Control "Started taking Reclipsen three months ago, and it was horrible. It brought on anxiety and intense mood swings, along with depression. I'm finally getting off of it, but do not buy this if you already have anxiety!"

For Birth Control "I have been taking Reclipsen for over 6 months now. I am 21 and have no children. This is my 3rd birth control to try, after Depo-Provera and Natazia. I decided to try Reclipsen for my acne and cramps. It immediately cleared up my face and is effective at preventing pregnancy, but I'm starting to wonder if the side effects are really worth it. I am extremely irritable, and my attitude goes from great to depressed/angry in an instant. I even tried Zoloft for a while but realized it was the Reclipsen. I still have a period for about 5 days a month, along with the awful cramping. I'm calling my doctor soon to discuss other options. I know medications affect everyone differently, so it may be a good choice for you, but definitely not for me."

For Birth Control "I've been on Reclipsen for years now. It's been horrible, but I've felt trapped to stay on it. I do not believe in IUDs and many other forms of birth control, so my primary care doctor felt this low dose would be best. We've never had any unwanted pregnancy, so it's effective in that manner. But here are all the issues I've had with it: mood swings, depression, anxiety, emotional instability overall, low sex drive, vaginal dryness, and migraines. I'll be getting off of it soon with the guidance of a new OB/GYN."

For Birth Control "I’m beginning to think the cause of my low sex drive, depression and anxiety, and skin rash is due to this birth control. I always thought it was just me, but after reading similar reviews, I don’t think it’s just me."

For Birth Control "This pill sucks. I was always anxious, but this actually made me depressed. Also, I felt hungry every 5 minutes and nauseous for the rest of the day. I always woke up dizzy, I broke out with acne. And I was always lightheaded and fatigued. Advice to people that don’t want to feel like rubbish: never take this! I’m warning all of you."

For Birth Control "I've been on Reclipsen for about 2.5 years now. The first months were an emotional roller coaster, I experienced depression, but after a while, that went away, and I was back to normal. This pill has been wonderful for my mild acne and even better for my severe cramps. Before the pill, my period would last a full seven days, and now it's only three. It's always on the same day, and now my cramps are nearly not as bad as they were before. I have suffered some migraines, but nothing some Advil and a small nap can't cure. Overall, this pill has been great for me."

For Birth Control "I switched to this by accident from Valette — on Valette I had a very stable mood, clear skin, no weight gain, etc. This pill, on the other hand, is horrible. I had nausea for the first week and a half, cramps for two weeks, and I’ve just come to the realization that my insane mood swings are from this pill. It’s making me very depressed, and I cry often."

"My experience on this pill has been horrible. I feel depressed all the time, have had a loss of appetite, and feel like something is always wrong. I can't get a full night of sleep anymore because I stay up all night thinking. Pills affect people differently, this pill has had a completely negative effect on me."

For Birth Control "I was put on this birth control pill in preparation for IVF. I've been on other birth control brands in the past and have never had an experience like this! It's only been one week and I am miserable. Incredibly depressed, emotional, fatigued, and unmotivated. I've also noticed a huge appetite increase. In the beginning, I was also super nauseous, but that is fairly typical in my experience. I know that different pills have different effects on people and it takes a while to adjust, but as I said, I've been on multiple brands and none has ever been this bad. All I want to do is sleep, eat, and cry. Good times."

For Birth Control "Absolutely horrible. Been on Viorelle for 4 months now. I get severe headaches for a week, very lightheaded and dizzy. I haven't been able to get out of bed for the past 2 days, my body feels very weak, I can't get my exercise in, I feel very down. I feel this way every 3 weeks. I want to tell the entire world not to take these pills. I'm fine all month until the 3rd and 4th week, and then I experience all this. Awful. I can't wait to let my doctor know on Monday and can't wait to try something else."

For Birth Control "Love this birth control. I was nervous before taking it because I read so many reviews about depression and mental health issues associated with it, but I have none of those symptoms, and I’ve been on it for about a year. Light periods and no weight gain for me. I am also a diabetic, so this is a great birth control as it doesn’t affect my blood sugar levels as some other birth control methods have in the past. I would definitely recommend."

For Birth Control "I have been on multiple kinds of birth control and switched to this one because the hormones in all of them affected my mood intensely. This one is one of the worst when it comes to mood swings and cravings. I cry at the drop of a hat and have intense emotional breakdowns constantly for literally no reason and go down the overthinking/anxiety birth control side effects rabbit hole of sadness. I highly do NOT recommend this kind. I chose this kind because it had fewer hormones, and my doctor said it would be better for me in the side effects department. I haven't even gotten a full pack in, and within the first week, felt intense side effects. Don't take this if you have ever experienced depression or anxiety."

For Birth Control "I’ve only been on Isibloom for 8 days. I’m taking it for acne more than I am for actual birth control. The reason why I’m writing this is because in just a few days my mood swings have been INSANE. I have gotten this random anxiety that feels very intense and scary. I normally do not get anxiety or mood swings like this at all, but I get these sudden rushes of rage and depression causing me to sob uncontrollably and act hysterical. I’m scared of how this may affect my life if I continue, because it’s causing me to feel depressed after each moody episode. I’ll continue taking it until the end of the month because I desperately want to clear my acne, but if it’s not 100% clear skin by then I will definitely switch brands."

For Birth Control "Was switched to this Viorele from Azurette, and it’s the worst. Horrible mood swings, fatigue, depression, and low sex drive. The only good thing is no acne, but I’m only 20 and shouldn’t be tired all the time. I noticed this about a month after taking these and would rather stay off of them rather than put myself through that again."

For Birth Control "Let me tell you that the first couple of months of Apri were bad. I had trouble sleeping, nausea, very tender breasts, among other things, but the worst part was the depression and anxiety. I would cry pretty much every day for absolutely no reason. I lost a lot of motivation to do anything. It was pretty miserable, but I decided to stick it out for a couple of months hoping that these symptoms would go away, and they did. I’ve now been on this birth control for about 6 months and I am very happy with it. It regulates my period, which is the main reason I went on birth control because my periods were consistently 10 days long and very irregular, sometimes I’d have a 2-week cycle, sometimes 2 months. Now I get a 5-day period, exactly every four weeks, it’s great. I do still get cramps, but they are not as bad as they were before I went on Apri. I would recommend this birth control if you are prepared for a rough first couple of months."

For Birth Control "I used Isibloom for 3 years. I initially got prescribed it at age 16 for hormonal cystic acne, and it immediately perfected my skin. I have not had cystic acne since, and I rarely get pimples. It was great at lightening and regulating my periods to the Wednesday of the placebo week. I did gain weight, but I believe this is not due to the medication and more so to just my body changing for the better over time (I was really skinny, 120 lbs, 5’8 when I started it). The reason I went off it was that I have anxiety, and remembering to take a pill every day was not good for my mental health. My body also did not respond well to the sudden decrease in hormones during the placebo week (I would become very depressed, bloated, and increased anxiety). But again, I did have an anxiety disorder prior to starting this. I switched to Nexplanon, and so far, it has been a lot better for me. But Isibloom is an AMAZING birth control for someone who is alright with taking a pill every day to prevent pregnancy."

For Birth Control "I have been taking Viorele for a little over two years. I started out with a prescription for Kariva, but CVS gave me the generic version, which is Viorele. I was really impressed at first because my face was very clear and my horrible cramps and backaches from my period went away. After a few months, I gained 20 pounds and 2 cup sizes and became very depressed and anxious. I did not know that Viorele was the cause of this until I went to my doctor. I just switched to a different birth control, and I am waiting to see if there is a difference. Overall, this was great for acne and cramping, but the depression and weight gain were not worth it."
