"A few things to know: this medication will change your life. Even taking it once will make you realize that those sad, dark, anxious thoughts in your head are ONLY anxiety. I promise you are going to be okay. There are many people on here searching for meds who suffer from this debilitating anxiety that a lot of others (without anxiety) cannot understand. Klonopin gives you that extra push you need to come to this realization and gets you through dark moments. Another thing: it is not as addictive as Xanax, which is extremely important when deciding which benzo is best for you. Best of luck."

"This is a great medication for me. It alleviates the cycle of negative thinking that spirals into a panic in my mind. I have 0.5 mg tabs. Sometimes I use 1/4, 1/2, or a whole one, or in bad circumstances, I take 2 or 1 mg. It takes about an hour to notice it working, and I feel more relaxed over the next several hours as it is gentle. I honestly could probably use 1 mg or even 2 mg a day for how high my anxiety gets, but I don't want to back myself into a corner with this drug. My advice: take it easy with them. Don't rush to one every time you feel a little anxious. But don't be afraid of something that can help you tremendously! Xanax worked the best for me and helped with anxious depression too. Klonopin is my second most helpful, with Ativan being very, very close. Tapering off can be done if you want or need to. But be kind to yourself, anxiety is awful in that it never sleeps."

"I started struggling with symptoms unbeknownst to me and my GP as crippling anxiety at 9 months postpartum and was prescribed Celexa. After 2 days of taking it, I was hospitalized. That was when I was introduced to a wonderful postpartum psychiatrist who listened to my concerns and wishes to continue breastfeeding. That’s when I was first introduced to clonazepam. I started slowly with 0.25mg twice daily. After taking that first tablet, I felt complete relief and couldn’t even cause myself anxiety when trying my hardest. I cried and cried that I wanted to be around my family again and hold my babe, not just nurse her. I continued taking clonazepam and seeing my psychiatrist for the following 3 years. I did need to up my dose to 2mg three times daily. However, when we were ready for baby #2 and wanting another successful homebirth with our midwife team and doula, I knew I needed to be on 0.5mg three times daily and slowly tapered down to 0.25mg twice daily. I surpassed my goal, had my homebirth, and have been on clonazepam again at 2mg three times daily for 16 years happily!"

Clonazepam "I have used Klonopin over the years for anxiety. I've been looking on the internet saying it's so hard to get off of. But I've never had a problem. I used to take 3 milligrams a day on and off for years, and then when I quit, I just quit. I don't understand where the problem lies with this drug because I've never had a problem coming off. Has anybody else had problems?"

Clonazepam "I am on a maintenance dose of 1 mg three times a day along with a different Xanax 0.5 if I am having a panic attack. I'm agoraphobic and suffer from anxiety because of multiple reasons. I find Klonopin is an amazing medication that helps tremendously. I wouldn't have the life I have today."

"I am 34 years old and have been on clonazepam 0.5 twice daily since I was 19. I have never had any side effects and I can truthfully say that it has been an absolute lifesaver for me! I have anxiety disorders, depression, and PTSD. I highly recommend it if you have anxiety/panic attacks, and it does help me relax and sleep. I've also never had to increase my dose in all these years while taking them."

Clonazepam "I started getting anxiety about a year ago out of the blue. I had to go to the ER because I thought I was dying or something. All my tests came back negative. The doctor told me it was an anxiety attack. I got sent home with nothing. A few days later I had another one. I went to my PCP and they put me on clonazepam. I try not to take them if I don't need it, but you never know when it may manifest. So I try to take half doses to make my script stretch and to also not be as dependent. I noticed that it works but to a lesser degree. I commute to school and work a full-time job so my mind is always running. In a nutshell, this medication works."

Clonazepam "The last 15 years of taking Klonopin have been a total improvement of my quality of life, and an improvement in anxiety to the point where I am like the friendliest guy in town, so to speak. Whereas before taking Klonopin, I had severe social phobia. As a result, the stress was definitely related to making me get cancer at 40 years of age. It works. Buspar and all the other more popular anti-anxiety meds did not work, and I don't want to stop taking Klonopin. William P."

Clonazepam "My anxiety came out of the blue. I had been suffering from depression and waited until I was close to rock bottom before seeing a psychiatrist. He put me on Zoloft, and for about 10 days, I convinced myself it was all getting better... then WHAM! I started waking up with panic that was overtaking my entire body! I took Xanax just to go to sleep for an hour. A counselor tried to get me to do breathing and muscle relaxation exercises, but I was too anxious to concentrate. I had to take off work because I ABSOLUTELY COULD NOT FUNCTION! My psychiatrist just put me on Klonopin 1mg 3x a day. That's a lot, but hopefully I can taper off soon, and the Zoloft can do its job. I can now think clearly and not panic at the simple thought of bathing!"

"There is so much negative information out there about benzos. I have been using them off and on for about 13 years. Ativan was always my go-to, but about a year ago, my primary care doctor suggested that Klonopin might be a better fit for my general anxiety because it lasts longer. I would agree. I am prescribed 0.5mg up to twice a day. I normally use less. 1/4 mg usually takes the edge off, and sometimes I take another 1/4 mg later in the day. I have taken it daily not exceeding my prescribed dose for months at a time. When my mind settles for whatever reason, I forget to take it, and I have never experienced any serious withdrawal. What I can share is that, although I don’t like relying on Klonopin, it keeps me functional when I fear I wouldn’t be otherwise. I can concentrate on tasks and get things done. I imagine that taking high doses of any benzos long term would lead to some challenges, but used in moderation, drugs like Klonopin can be a lifesaver."

"I was misdiagnosed for years with depression when the real culprit has been anxiety all along. I was put on every antidepressant, one after the other, and suffered horrible side effects from all of them. I finally gave up and went back to a life that was awful and stressed. I have severe social anxiety and now PTSD from so much medical mismanagement. I recently decided I had to try again, so I went to see a psychiatrist who actually listens to me. He started me on benzodiazepines, and my life is finally revealing itself to be enjoyable again. Some people just don't respond to SSRI meds, and we need the different stuff. I have no problems with clonazepam 0.5 mg 3x a day when I need it, and the sun is shining again for me after 20 years of being unheard and in fear. I'm well-educated on the risks and cautions, but I'm 70 years old, and if I need this for my remaining years, that's okay. Nothing else worked, some of it was dangerous, and I'm satisfied. I smile again."

"Changed my life! I was close to suicide and just couldn’t deal with the panic attacks and daily anxiety that was literally damaging me from the inside out. I was prescribed 1 mg 2X a day, and everything changed. I went back to work, not one panic attack, appetite returned, I was able to relax and watch TV and go to sleep peacefully at night. I also give all glory to God because He answered my prayers! I prayed for the right medication, and I found it! I tried all the antidepressants, and they made things worse."

Clonazepam "Have been prescribed a plethora of antidepressants and non-benzodiazepine anti-anxiety meds; all accompanied by horrendous, long-lasting side effects. Had a bad experience with a psychiatrist and also held a negative attitude toward being dependent on medication, therefore decided to be unmedicated for several (miserable) years. Eventually came to terms with the fact that I cannot properly function in society without medication. It took a while, but I have finally found a great combination of meds, including 0.5 mg of Clonazepam. Anxiety is better managed. Happy to no longer be missing out because of anxiety. Would recommend a low dose (prescribed by a doctor, of course) to someone that has tried multiple anxiety medications with no avail."

Clonazepam "I first tried Buspar for my generalized anxiety disorder, and after several weeks, gave up on it. I decided to work with my psychiatrist instead of my GP. He agreed to let me try Klonopin. Wow. I only take 1 mg a day but I feel 90% recovered to my old self. I am more social again, working on my novel, doing well at work, handling stress well, having a lot more fun and joy. I've been on it for 3.5 weeks and hopefully can stay on it permanently. I know one needs to be cautious with it."

Clonazepam "I've been taking 1mg of Klonopin daily for 3.5 years, after the sudden death of my father. At the time, my anxiety was a 10 and Klonopin allowed me to continue working and raising my 4 kids. I consider Klonopin an absolute miracle drug that probably saved my life. My psychiatrist, and 2 other consulted doctors, don't express the least amount of concern about using 1 mg of Klonopin daily perhaps indefinitely. However, I went 42 years without taking a prescription drug and it really is my hope to not need Klonopin for much longer. The notion that Benzos should not be taken beyond 4 weeks is purely irrational. Find a good doctor!!!"

Clonazepam "I'm writing this in case anyone else is in my position of being afraid of taking this out of the fear of it making you high, since so many people have voiced strong opposing opinions about Klonopin. I was in the same exact position of being afraid of taking it, even though those around me (which is part of something I have to learn... accepting that people know what they're talking about when it comes to anxiety) were telling me that nothing would happen. It took me a spur of the moment gather of courage to take Klonopin... and now I can say that *when needed*, I love Klonopin. It melts away anxiety and leaves a dent in depersonalization (if you struggle) and allows you to function and level off for a few days afterwards."

Clonazepam "I had been on Zoloft for about a year or so which helped manage my anxiety, but didn't help when it came to a very stressful day or event that led to side effects like racing heart, labored breathing, sweating, stomach ulcers, etc. I needed something that I could take immediately to stave an anxiety attack off. My doctor prescribed Klonopin and I'm so grateful for it. For me, it doesn't make me tired, lethargic, or dull me down. I was afraid of a medication that would just sedate me. This drug takes the edge off and makes me feel good enough to continue with my day. I haven't had any side effects."

Clonazepam "Took this medicine for 12 years, then stopped for 2 years. Those 2 years off it I had a hard time with panic, sleep, and anxiety. It has improved my life. And, you can take it long term with no side effects. I take 2 to 3 1mg tablets daily. Some people need help with daily living. Mental helps the physical!"

Clonazepam "I started off taking Klonopin after developing severe panic attacks 20 years ago. It was a lifesaver for me! I took it for 15 years and weaned myself off of it with no problems. I am back on it now after 5 years of not taking it due to recent life events that started the anxiety back up. I take 1 mg tablets up to twice a day. I've never had any of the horrifying withdrawals that other people complain of. Klonopin definitely works for me."

Clonazepam "I was prescribed Klonopin to get me through anxiety exacerbated by starting on Lexapro. It is a benzo and therefore highly addictive so I was very careful about taking it as little as possible. I found it to be very effective, and one tablet would actually keep me calm for around 36 hours (it has a very long half-life). I did not feel side effects and didn't feel drunk or disoriented. It was effective for me but needs to be used with care."

"I've been on 1 mg up to 3 times a day as needed for anxiety for the last 3 years. It changed my life greatly. Before taking this, I would not make eye contact with people, was always worried about little things, and had ruminating and intrusive thoughts. I was also initially prescribed this for sleep, but it does not really make me tired even at the max dose. However, it is great for anxiety and panic disorders."

Clonazepam "I have been on Klonopin for almost a year now, and it has been an absolute lifesaver! I had horrible panic attacks, was scared to drive, couldn't even go shopping without getting dizzy and anxious. Anxiety had taken over my life, the panic attacks were so scary I thought I was going to die. I'm very grateful to have this medicine. I've heard of problems with dependency, but I don't know what I'd do without it. I'm also on Zoloft, and I feel like I have my life back!"

Clonazepam "Best medication personally for anxiety and panic attacks. I have been taking 3-6mg a day since I was 16 and compared to all the other benzodiazepines, it has been the safest for long-term use. I have tried Ativan, Xanax, and Valium also and did not have good experiences due to many side effects, and they only worked for a couple of weeks for me. Personally, all medications have withdrawal, so why not choose the best medication for yourself. SSRIs are just as hard to come off of as Benzos because of withdrawals, but most doctors don't tell you that."
