For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I was on Paxil for a decade, and it slowly started losing its effect. After suffering from panic attacks, I realized it had stopped working. From that moment, I tried everything, none of it worked. I tried mirtazapine, Wellbutrin, fluoxetine, citalopram, and pregabalin. You can imagine how I felt I would never feel okay ever again as each medication failed to work after months of trying. The doctors in the UK told me there was nothing else they could try, and I was in a very dark place. I contacted another doctor who said clomipramine was their last-ditch attempt at helping me (not a great way of saying it, but oh well). Within the first week, I felt like a new person. I actually feel quite emotional writing this. My panic attacks are gone, my racing thoughts and spiraling are basically over. I can just let them go, and that’s that! I used to not be able to be alone with my own thoughts because I would have a panic attack from them. Now I feel HAPPY and have ENERGY."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "Saved my life. My OCD has always caused vulgar and aggressive intrusive thoughts, they became so potent that I nearly checked myself into an early grave. The only side effect I had when starting was that it made my sleep a bit lighter, so I woke easier. I haven’t known silence like this from my intrusive thoughts in all my life. I can breathe again."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "This medication, paired with a small dose of Celexa, literally saved my life. I have panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and borderline personality disorder. I was addicted to Klonopin, and it wasn't even working anymore, making me like a zombie. I started this medicine, and within 2 weeks, I could feel a change. Then by the next month, I went from being a suicidally depressed insomniac with uncontrollable and obsessive thoughts to a normal person. For the first time in my entire life, I feel normal and at peace. This is a Godsend. I seriously don't know what would have happened to me had I not found this medication. It doesn't cure BPD, but my moods are the most controlled they've ever been. There is a light at the end of the dark tunnel."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I started taking this medication after suffering severe anxiety and unwanted thoughts for 13 years. I have been on this medication for approximately three months, and the anxiety attacks stopped, except for maybe two so far when it was 8 to 9 a day. The intrusive thoughts have not stopped yet, but somehow the anxiety has. I don't know how that is since the thoughts are what cause my anxiety, but somehow it is easier to control my thoughts or get off the intrusive thought that would have caused the panic attack. I am hoping 100mg helps me with the thoughts. Never stop trying and never stop being your own advocate in your mental illness. 13 yrs for me."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I was first prescribed this medicine for severe/major depression at around eighteen years old. I had tried various forms of psychotherapy and nothing had worked; over the course of a year, the depression had worsened to the point where I could no longer function. 50mg of Clomipramine transformed my life after about ten days. It has been, for me, a life-saving medicine. The side effects are sometimes bothersome, but to this day it regulates my mood almost perfectly and I can live a full life. Highly recommended."

Clomipramine for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "This medication was a miracle for my OCD, like, I swear my intrusive thoughts had almost gone! I was able to do things that I couldn't do with OCD! Sadly, I couldn't continue it as I got a really bad side effect of low blood pressure! I wasn't able to do much during this time. It was worth a try though!"

Clomipramine for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I have been depressed for years and just recently discovered I had OCD. Only 1 or 2 medications would help, and then they would stop. I tried holistic supplements and diet, and nothing helped. I was becoming hopeless, and then I heard about someone who tried Anafranil. I started on 25 mg and gradually went to 150 mg. Finally, after 4 or 5 weeks, I started feeling better. I wanted to get up and go to work in the morning. Side effects were a dry mouth, insomnia, and some dizziness, but I'm hoping they will go away with time. I would recommend it."

Clomipramine for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "My son is 14 and has suffered with OCD for 2 years. Lexapro made him a happier obsessive with extreme gas but OCD symptoms no better. Anafranil has been great. Has fewer obsessions with less anxiety. It's an older drug you have to ask for."

For Panic Disorder "Tried a few other SSRI meds such as fluoxetine and sertraline, both made my panic and anxiety worse. The Dr suggested clomipramine, titrated up from 25 mg to 75 mg over 4 weeks. Had some side effects for two weeks, such as dry mouth, headache, and nausea, but these passed. The clomipramine cured my anxiety, panic attacks, mild acrophobia, and dizziness. A truly amazing and often overlooked medication."

"I have a sound sensitivity disorder (hyperacusis). A pharmacist recommended that I give clomipramine a try. I increased the dose slowly to 200 mg. It has been working! Most of my ear pain is gone, and I can hear loud sounds without getting worse hyperacusis. I still have some degree of sound sensitivity, but it has improved quite a bit. I am going to continue taking this drug for at least six months. I don't know if there is any research on hyperacusis and clomipramine yet, so it is definitely an off-label use. I know I am not the only one who has gotten improvements in hyperacusis from this drug... if you have hyperacusis, I urge you to give this a try and see if it works for you also."

Clomipramine for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I was diagnosed with OCD when I was 18/19, but I'd had intrusive thoughts from as early as I can remember. It just got worse to the point I was suicidal in my late teens. Anyway, luckily, the psychiatrist I saw was able to diagnose me and prescribe me Anafranil. I can honestly say I probably owe my life to this medication. I took it for a number of years before switching to sertraline. I find Anafranil does make me drowsy, but the effectiveness of it is worth it at times. Not everyone can take SSRIs. I'd recommend trying this medication for OCD or other anxiety disorders. :) Peace."

For Depression "This has to be the best medicine. I replaced it with my depression bad. As I stopped taking it without Dr. consent, I honestly was very bad. Went twice to the hospital. After being put on these meds for 5 weeks, I got my life back. Never been this happy. I'm really overwhelmed writing this review. No side effects, only constipation, but settled quick. My depression is gone and the bad anxiety, for which I was taking Ativan up to 3 times a day, also gone. I'm alive again, going for morning walks every day, as I found it helped me a lot. What can I say? The best med ever. I honestly thought nothing was gonna work on my depression and anxiety. Here I am writing a review on it. 10 out of 10. Please give it a try."

Clomipramine for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "Anafranil saved my life. The side effects are not pleasant, but not having the intrusive thoughts is well worth the effort! I am scared of long-term effects, but my fears are lessened by the effectiveness of Anafranil for OCD."

For Panic Disorder "I was on Paxil for over 10 years, and they slowly started to stop working to the point of my previous agoraphobia returning. I tried augmentation with Abilify, but the side effects were horrific. I was terrified nothing would ever work again as I tried a few other meds like Remeron, which did nothing. Then my psych decided to start me on clomipramine. I started very slowly due to fear of side effects. It's been 5 weeks, and I'm currently on 87.5 mg. As of 5 days ago, I started to see and feel the benefits! It's really amazing! No more daily anxiety to the point of panic. I have started to leave the house alone and go to the shops or for a walk, which I hadn't been able to do for many months. This drug quiets your mind and gives you confidence!"

For Panic Disorder "I'm 23 years old, and I've been suffering from general and social anxiety, panic, since I was 13. I also had OCD by the age of 19 and ended up with severe depression and suicidal behavior this year. For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "Worked right off the bat. Just 25 mg at night worked way better than any antipsychotic I've tried (SSRIs barely helped at all). My mind has finally quieted down. It's a blissful feeling altogether. Definitely give this a shot."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I’ve been struggling my whole life and had no relief until my early thirties when my current psychiatrist gave me no option but started taking clomipramine. Currently on 150 mg, and it feels awesome, no major issues with side effects. Highly suggest taking it along with CBD oil drops. Trust me, I’ve tried at least five different antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, and sedatives, among others. When I look back, I feel sorry for myself for not stepping up and asking for those two drugs. Now I’ve got a career, a steady job, and I live by myself. My thoughts, behaviors, everything was compromised until now. I truly believe that it is not psychological but biological. Give it a try, you must be miserable at the moment anyway."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "Out of all the medicines I have tried for my anxiety/OCD, this one, clomipramine, has worked the best! I take 50 mg a day, and it took about 3-4 weeks to start noticing a difference. I went from OCD thoughts running my life all day/every day to having small thoughts throughout the day that I am able to easily dismiss. My panic attacks are also gone! Side effects have been dry mouth, a little bit of weight gain (maybe 5 pounds), and sexual side effects (delayed ejaculation). This medicine is expensive and has caused a few side effects, BUT IT IS WORTH IT!"

Clomipramine for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I was on Anafranil many years ago. Took it for 5 years. Unfortunately, after 5 years, it stopped working for me. But it is a wonderful medication. Give it a try. More than likely, it will work for you. If not, give fluvoxamine a try. It is another really good one. Only side effect was dry mouth. Small price to pay for the wonderful effects I got from Anafranil. Give it a try. When I took it, there was no co-pay. Nowadays, there probably will be a co-pay, but probably not a bad one."

Clomipramine for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I’ve taken Anafranil for a month now because I had been struggling with anxiety with an OCD element as well. I’m on 150 mg right now. This medication is definitely helping. I take Prozac 20 mg as well, and I think they work better together. For me, it’s helped to stop worrying and thinking about things that don’t matter. Also, I’ve had random intrusive thoughts of uncomfortable words popping into my head. It’s made me realize how ridiculous it really is and that it’s really a bad serotonin imbalance. My mood has improved as well, so I think this drug should be used more because it’s a potent drug. It’s gonna hit the anxiety/OCD hard, whereas I tried Zoloft, Viibryd, Pristiq, etc., and they alone usually aren’t enough. You gotta be on Anafranil plus Prozac/Luvox/Paxil or some other SSRI. I’m also on Rexulti, which basically boosts the two primary medications. No side effects so far either. Hope this is helpful."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "This medication takes time to work. You need to be patient and give it maybe 3 months. Maybe more. It's given me my life back. From waking every day in terror, I now just wake up like a person without OCD. No SSRI drug has helped me. Clomipramine has removed the mild depression that I had for 2 years following an episode of clinical depression. It has taken away my constant anxiety and calmed my obsessions. I'll stay on it forever."

Clomipramine for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "Bear in mind that this, like any medication, may work differently for you, but I can attest to the point that it does not work for everyone. I had a combination of OCD and depression. I took Anafranil for months. For one thing, it didn't do squat for the condition. It didn't help one bit. What it did was make me so tired and lethargic that I could not do a thing. I failed a college semester because I simply could not keep myself awake, and there was not enough caffeine on earth to do it. It made my situation many times worse."

For Depression "I had several attacks of depression in the last 25 years following stress at work with variable severity. All of these attacks respond well to Anafranil in 3-5 weeks of therapy with some side effects like sweating and tremor during the first 2 weeks. Then I take a small dose for another several weeks and tapering it without problems. During the last attack of depression, I made a mistake when I started treatment with Zoloft, depending on the opinion of a psychiatrist who said to me that this drug is very good with fewer side effects in comparison with the 'old drug Anafranil with unpleasant side effects,' as he said. I'm on Zoloft with up to 150 mg for the last 6 weeks without significant improvement. I decided to stop this drug and return to my Anafranil."

Clomipramine for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "Works well for OCD, wonderful for body pain, and moderate for depression (it takes 6-8 weeks for me to see any effect), but the side effects are not pleasant: dry mouth, fatigue, drowsiness, difficulty concentrating, and anorgasmia."
