For Premature Ejaculation "Out of nowhere, I started having premature ejaculation problems, so a doctor prescribed Anafranil. The drug definitely worked, and after I stopped taking it after a couple of months, my problems were gone. The drug did make me feel pretty queasy and out of it (I threw up once), but it was as if my sex life was rebooted and my body trained to orgasm later. I recommend, but don't drive or do anything important while on the drug."

For Panic Disorder "Tried a few other SSRI meds such as fluoxetine and sertraline, both made my panic and anxiety worse. The Dr suggested clomipramine, titrated up from 25 mg to 75 mg over 4 weeks. Had some side effects for two weeks, such as dry mouth, headache, and nausea, but these passed. The clomipramine cured my anxiety, panic attacks, mild acrophobia, and dizziness. A truly amazing and often overlooked medication."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I always swore I’d found a drug that helped me, that I would come back onto this site and post a review. After suffering from anxiety and depression for over 10 years, my diagnosis changed in the past 2 years, and I was crippled by pure OCD (obsessional thoughts but no compulsions). I tried Citalopram, Sertraline, Mirtazapine, and now Clomipramine. When I first tried this drug, I had no hope and couldn’t see a way out of the dark place I was in. I had no faith in therapy or drugs as both had failed. The initial week was tough - side effects included increased anxiety, jitteriness, nausea, etc. But I pushed through these, and within 2 to 3 weeks, I started to see light at the end of the tunnel. I’ve been on 100 mg now for 3 months, and this tablet has honestly saved my life. I was at a stage where I couldn’t do anything but think about my intrusive thoughts, and nothing brought me joy. My obsessional thoughts are now reduced by over 80%!!!"

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I have OCD on a few things, which I don't want to share. My OCD increased last year. I felt nausea and also vomited daily on getting OCD thoughts. Initially, my treatment started with a low dose of fluvoxamine, and it was increased to 200 mg/day. My OCD decreased by 50%, but it was not eliminated completely. I still have nausea and sometimes vomiting also. After some time, I decreased the fluvoxamine dose to 100 mg/day because I was thinking I would cover up with strong willpower. But symptoms had not gone, nausea continued, and sometimes I vomited also. In short, my doctor kept me on 100 mg/day fluvoxamine and clonil 25 mg/daily. Later on, my fluvoxamine dose (100 mg/day) was kept fixed, and the clonil dose was increased to 50 mg/daily. Now it's just like magic, my OCD is about 90% gone, and there is no nausea and no vomiting. My mind is also calm and working according to the present situation."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I had terrible OCD in my late teens and twenties. Totally life-consuming - I thought I was going mad. I suppose I was. The side effects have been difficult - long-term erectile dysfunction, years after coming off the medication. And at the time, when the dose went up, sort of 'flu-like' symptoms: achy, nausea, upset tummy. But it evened out. And it was really worth it. Still can't get it up properly - but I can live a life. As for cost - I live in the UK, so all healthcare is free for everyone. I paid"

Clomipramine for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "After trying a few different medicines (with no benefits), my doctor pulled out the big guns and gave me Clomipramine. I have severe OCD but the purely obsessional (intrusive thoughts). I used to be a checker and hand washer, though. I took it for over 1 year. Unfortunately, Clomipramine did nothing for me on 250 mg, which is pretty much the highest dose you can take. I did not have a lot of side effects except dry mouth when I was on it. I quit taking it after I ran out on a holiday weekend and saw the withdrawal symptoms: severe nausea. And even when tapering slowly off it over the course of months, I still had terrible withdrawals (vomiting and nausea)."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "This med caused me to hear internal voices (auditory hallucinations, but in my head). Made me paranoid, anxious, scared to be alone, tired, nauseated, no appetite, and felt schizophrenic. Started at 50 mg, coming off immediately, per my PDoc. I hope it gives you relief, as most seem satisfied. Bummer it wasn't my lifesaver."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "The lowest dose of clomipramine in combination with Luvox gave me dry mouth, nausea, headaches, loss of taste, weight gain, dizziness, fatigue, feeling like needing to pee, and sexual dysfunction. It made me feel numb inside. Some reduction in the intensity of obsessive thoughts due to being so sedated. This drug is very old and strong and did not work for me at all. I quit cold turkey after four weeks and have never felt so depressed."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "Intense drug. Didn’t help me. Side effects were brain zaps, nausea, insomnia, suicidal thoughts, increase in depression and anxiety. Was on it for 4 months at 150 mg. Quit cold turkey. Withdrawal was gnarly. I changed to ERP (exposure and response prevention), exercise, and a healthy lifestyle, and you may be better off."

For Depression "Only took 25 mgs of clomipramine, and the effects were horrendous: shaking, restlessness, all-over body burning, pins and needles, anxiety, nausea, insomnia. It was so bad I ended up in A&E. I'm glad I only took 3 doses."

"I really wanted this medicine to work. And it helped with depression and maybe even started to help with my OCD, but I felt thirsty all the time, which made me nauseated, have a headache, and really sleepy. It also made me have to pee every 20 minutes for some strange reason. I had to get off of it, and those bad side effects disappeared once I was off."

For Panic Disorder "Only lasted one day on this drug. I took 25 mg of clomipramine right before bed last night and experienced exhausting, intense, vivid dreams. Woke up groggy and very spacey. This lasted for a few hours before the nausea hit, which lasted most of the rest of the day. For the first half of the day, I was very tired, but not sleepy, and would start crying randomly. I wasn't as lethargic in the afternoon, but the nausea kept me on the couch. Was prescribed for OCD cyclical thoughts feeding into my anxiety. Granted, I haven't had any such thoughts all day, though this may be due to the distraction from the side effects of the drug. For me personally, the side effects outweigh any potential benefits. I do tend to be highly sensitive to medications, though, and have had previous issues with antidepressants. Hope it works better for the rest of you."

For Obsessive Compulsive Disorder "I don't even know where to start. This medication was the breakthrough for me. I had tried so many medications over a year and a half before my doctor put me on this. I was skeptical at first, started off on a small dose, the nausea and headaches were not too terrible. The first few weeks my obsessions got worse, but once I was at 100mg, I felt a small breakthrough and a small ease of my symptoms. I had even greater results at 150mg. I'm now at 200mg, working my way up to 300mg, but honestly, this is the best I have felt in years, and for the first time, I feel like I can enjoy my life and breathe without the constant obsessions and compulsions. I'm not saying this will work for you, but do not give up. I thought I was hopeless and medications would never work for me until I finally got on this. There is light at the end of the tunnel, and you deserve to have this same feeling!"
