For High Blood Pressure "While the medication seems to work, the side effects are unacceptable. My dose is 25 mg. It leaves me very lightheaded all day and with absolutely no energy at all. I spend most of the day in bed. My muscles become very fatigued with minimal exertion, and I develop rapid heartbeat and respirations."

For High Blood Pressure "I was started on chlorthalidone because losartan didn't lower my blood pressure, and I was having too many side effects with lisinopril. It lowered my blood pressure well for a few months and then seemed to stop working. During these three months, I was also dealing with heart palpitations. I completely stopped caffeine and alcohol. I had a Holter monitor test and was told I was experiencing harmless PVCs and PACs. My doctor doubled my chlorthalidone to try to get my BP back under control, and then I started to feel really terrible. Headaches, muscle cramping all over my body, weakness, fatigue, frequent heart palpitations. I thought it was just a little bit of dehydration since this medication is a diuretic, but my labs showed that my potassium dropped to severely low. I was taken off the medication and had my potassium replaced. Once my potassium was back to normal, I started to feel better, and after a few weeks, I also noticed that my heart palpitations had completely stopped."

For High Blood Pressure "I was on this for blood pressure and fluid retention. This medication has been difficult to take! I am highly allergic to sulfa, and I don't understand why I have taken this horrible drug for this period of time. I have experienced several side effects which I have struggled with daily. I have had major problems with hives, rashes, gum bleeding, indigestion, heart flutters, hair loss and thinning, lack of energy, tingling in hands and fingers, dark spots on the skin, depression, stomach sickness, dry mouth and eyes, dry and peeling skin, and heaviness in legs and thighs. There are other side effects that include sharp pains all over my body. I am now seeing a dermatologist and taking additional drugs to tolerate the indigestion. Generic drugs are not for everyone. This is definitely a form of abuse, and no one should be forced to go through this process! There has to be a better way to do this!"
