Cephalexin "I had a tooth that broke off while eating pretzels. Well, as time goes by, no real problems with it, however, it made the tooth next to it get loose and agitated. It becomes an infection. I get put on Keflex 500 mg three times a day for seven days for the infection. I have taken this medication before. After two days, the infection starts to go away, and my mouth feels better. I’m not in pain anymore, however, the night terrors, hallucinations, and anxiety. The night terrors are morbid, they are something out of the 'Saw' movies! If you have any mental disorders or any small underlying ones, I recommend you do not take this medication, because it will make you crazy!"

"My doctor, as soon as I start to see the onset of one of these cysts, goes ahead and prescribes me Cephalexin 500 mg capsules. And they don't even form into what looks like a little bug bite. And again, it's gone in under two days. Because I'm not sure I could deal with another Mount St. Helena cyst like before. It disrupted everything I did. It made it hard to sleep, just sit there, putting tops on, for sure, walking, dancing, being goofy with my kids, and much, much more. So for me, Cephalexin is a miracle-working drug. It's freed up a lot of my life from so much pain and allowed me to be the real me again! :) <3"

"Was prescribed Keflex for a minor but painful infection as a result of an ingrown toenail. Took 250 mg 3x/day for seven days and saw results after one day. Only side effect was acid reflux immediately after taking the pill. I also take probiotics every day, so that may have helped to prevent other side effects."

Cephalexin "I had a blister that got infected from wearing tight boots for a few hours and then I had it! I got an infection, so I went to the nurse and got me some pills of Keflex for 4X a day for five days and an antibiotic cream. I feel much better. Don't ever wear tight shoes, ever."

"It's a wonder drug. I had an infection on my acne, and my cheek was swollen. The doctor prescribed me cephalexin 500 mg four times a day for 7 days. It works very quickly. Within some hours, the deep purple inflammation completely subsides. And the swelling has reduced drastically. I was amazed... On top of it, I also got Fucidin cream to apply to the affected area. Cephalexin works wonders!"

"I have folliculitis that started from an insect bite. This medicine works, but my skin feels so hot all over my body when I take it. It feels feverish, but no actual fever. It does work very well, though. I'm just so hot!"

"Horrible medicine. My doctor prescribed me cephalexin for an infected boil that I burst and got infected. I was told to take 4 tabs, 500 mg daily for 7 days. I'm a lupus patient already taking plaquenil 400 mg daily. Anyway, I went after 7 days, the infection wasn't healed yet, so my doctor told me to continue for 10 more days. But when I started to continue, I got a horrible rash all over my arms and neck. Along with this, I got continuous headaches, so I stopped the medication. But the rash is still there, and I'm getting blisters on my body. Thinking of going to the emergency room."

"I had a cyst removed and was given cephalexin to stop it from getting infected. Took the first one at 2:30 pm, finished the workday, ate dinner at 7:30. Then started getting side effects, the chest pain started by 12:00. I could barely breathe, and the chest pain is so severe now. Pain in the shoulders and neck, it hurt to breathe. Cannot lay down, else, the pain gets two times as bad. At the hospital now: chest X-ray, CT scan, blood tests, ultrasound. Nitroglisoran helped a little, all tests came back negative for heart blockages. The next day, a little better, I got to the doctor. Said I had a reaction to this antibiotic. I will never take this again, close to death after taking one pill."

"I've been taking this medication for about 4 days now. It's done an excellent job dispersing the infection below my tooth and behind my eardrum. The condition was very painful at one point, and I hardly notice an issue now."

Cephalexin "With only 4 doses of 500 mg in 3 days instead of 3 a day, my symptoms got progressively worse. Blurred vision, dizziness, rash, leg pain and swelling, heat sensations in legs, muscle pain, back pain, swelling and pain in the stomach, and extreme fatigue. Stopped taking and reported adverse reaction to the pharmacy and will tell the doctor. Very glad I did not take the full dose. Use with caution if you are sensitive to meds."

Cephalexin "I have a slight eye tissue infection. The optometrist suggested Keflex, 2 a day for 10 days. Let it be known I have experience taking a large amount of pharma over my lifetime. Three hours into the first pill, my back completely seized up and tightened. All my lumbar muscles came to an aching halt. Something I have never felt before in my life. I have competed in highly competitive sports my whole life and know my body well from years of training, and never in my life have I felt weird muscle discomfort as I did taking this. Almost 24 hours after taking 1 pill, I still feel the pain. It all depends on the person after reading other people not feeling any sort of discomfort from taking this stuff. I will not be taking this again."

"Excellent medication for soft tissue infection. Prescribed 500 mg 4x daily for 7 days - noticeable improvement after 24 hours, significant improvement after 48 hours. I'm thrilled. On day one, I did feel some stomach upset, which easily subsided with a bit of food and rest."

Cephalexin "This medication gave me really bad traveling gas with cold sweats and made me very nauseous on the very first pill! I might ask my doctor to replace this medication with something else. I find it very strong, especially for a mild skin infection due to a spider bite!"

"I have chronic folliculitis that has left scars on my lower legs. Twice, I was prescribed topical ointments by a dermatologist that did nothing. My primary doctor prescribed Keflex, and the results were amazing. Now, every time I have a flare-up from shaving during the summer months, I request Keflex. I do not experience any side effects. I try not to shave as often, use good and clean razors, but the Keflex has been what helps me the most."

"Ended up with an infected wound after foot surgery. Was leaking pus and blood from the incision site. Was put on 500 mg 2x a day for 10 days. After the 3rd day, I noticed no more pus, just blood draining. The pain decreased as well. No bad reaction as I usually get very nauseous from other antibiotics, but not Keflex. I made sure to take the dose on time every day and had a small meal 10 minutes before each dose. 2 hours after each dose, I took a double dose of probiotics and was also taking Saccharomyces boulardii (another probiotic, but it is a yeast and is not killed by antibiotics since it is not a bacteria). Did NOT experience any stomach pains, diarrhea, anxiety, lightheadedness like others. Also stopped drinking coffee and consuming sugar while on these antibiotics, bacteria thrive on sugar in the gut, and the coffee makes your body acidic."

"I have had an on-and-off condition with skin boils. I am also diabetic and allergic to penicillin. This is one of the few antibiotics I can tolerate. I have been on this dose for 12 days and am getting vast improvement. I am concerned, though, because my provider wants me on this for 4 more weeks. I have read other reviews, medications all have side effects, but having numerous boils under my arms, the top of my legs, and under my breasts have just gotten out of control. And scars are bad as well. Just feeling so much better without so much infection and things healing up."

"Had a bad reaction all the way. Within 15 minutes of taking, experienced shortness of breath, dizziness, diarrhea, throwing up, shakiness, full-blown rash/hives, cold/chills, confusion, slurred speech, rapid heart rate, ringing in the ears, extreme tiredness."

"I was prescribed this following a Bactrim DS prescription that was causing me problems. I did not have any real issues with cephalexin, but it did not clear up my paronychia infection as I had hoped. I would take this again, as it was gentle and had no side effects at all."

"I've been fighting cellulitis in both legs for 2 years! After 2 hospital stays and several different doctors, my newest put me on 500 mg 4 times daily. After only 3 days, my legs look and feel better than they have since I first got it! Also, I've been taking 5 or 10 mg of oxycodone every 6 hours to ease the pain. I took 0 the last 24 hours! The only side effect is diarrhea, which is a pleasure after being constantly constipated from the oxy!"

"I was prescribed 500 mg 4 times a day for 10 days to treat my folliculitis after shaving with a bad razor. The first day, I felt okay, but I'm on day 4, and I already feel like crap. I feel dizzy, extremely fatigued to the point where I feel like a lifeless potato, nausea, lightheadedness, and some mild abdominal pain here and there. I pretty much don't feel like doing anything. The folliculitis seems to be slowly improving, though it flares up again when I wake up, so I'm not entirely sure if this antibiotic is working. Might discontinue it if side effects get worse and try to get a different antibiotic."

Cephalexin "Been on Keflex for a week now for folliculitis, 2 pills (500 mg each) for a week (finished the whole bottle), and my folliculitis is still the same. No real side effects for me. I’ve had folliculitis for a month now, and nothing seems to help."

"This drug has worked very well! I had a skin infection, with a urinary tract infection. I was put on the medicine for 10 days, 2 times a day. The first couple of doses, I didn't think that it was really working, but after 4 days of taking the medicine, then bumps started to go away, and I could urinate comfortably without any burning. On the 8th day, the bumps have completely dried up, and new skin is forming on top. I didn't really experience any bad side effects. The only side effects I had were minor diarrhea and fatigue. I would definitely recommend this medicine. My only wish would be that it would do a better job at clearing the bumps more effectively!"

"I had a 500 mg dose every 6 hours. I got something called a brain zap! It was terrifying. Days 4-10, every time I tried to fall asleep, it felt like an electric current ran through my head and startled me awake. I’ve never felt that in my life. It got so bad I stayed up for 2 days straight. I woke up panicking every time. It was terrible. I usually have anxiety once or twice a week, but this medication amplified my anxiety x10. I got at least 3 anxiety attacks a day, like 30 minutes or more at a time. Other than that, I had trouble breathing and slight body aches, but the worst of it was the brain zaps and anxiety. My infection was completely gone in 2 days and I was almost pain-free. Effective in that way, absolutely, but was not worth the side effects at all. If you have the option to take a different antibiotic, I would recommend you do that!"

"I get blurry vision and mild headaches when I take cephalexin. But I get golf ball-sized cysts on my face, and cephalexin really helps. I just had one developing and started taking it before it got out of control; helped so much. I can at least still go to work."

"I had a staph infection in my nose, so my doctor put me on a week of cephalexin, 500 mg 3x daily. I was worried about GI side effects but was absolutely fine. The only side effects I noticed were very, very minimal fatigue and the slightest headache that was barely noticeable. I also took a once-daily probiotic with my dose in the evening just for peace of mind."
