Ceftriaxone "I had a shot after several days of a UTI. It cleared the UTI quickly (in addition to oral antibiotics), but the lump at the shot site is still there! It's been over a month, and I can still feel the lump under my skin. Slightly painful to the touch."

Ceftriaxone "I had what I think was a kidney stone. A week later, a UTI started. It was the lightest UTI I have ever had, yet the hardest to treat. I've never responded poorly to any shot nor antibiotic, but because I have had a lot of GI and gallbladder problems this year, my body hated the oral antibiotics. My doctor tried two different ones. And I was as sick as a dog. I was also scared because my liver and gallbladder were hurting, and I stayed in bed for a week trying to combat nausea. My doctor then recommended this shot. I had two, and so far, no side effects (NONE), and my UTI seems to be improving. I recommend! I hope I don’t need a third, but if I do, I want the shot! The shot did not hurt me either time. I've had way worse shots, and this was cake in comparison and WAY BETTER than nausea and liver damage!!! Why are all UTIs not treated with the shot? It is way better!"

Ceftriaxone "I have a bowel infection and it went into my bladder. I had no UTI symptoms except the strange color on my water wipe. I'm always sick with something and thought it was just the flu. Not around anyone. Long story, but after ER anaphylactic reaction on a med that was helping, things got worse. So by the end of the week, it had started making me feel delirious. Heard that can happen with seniors. Being allergic to almost every antibiotic, the ER doctor wanted me to have something while waiting for the culture to result. So after IV fluids, I chose Rocephin. It was given IV and I was told to come back the next morning for another injection. The highly compassionate nurse did not want to cause me pain, so she mixed it with lidocaine to minimize the pain. The area was sore after the shot but not while I was getting it, and I have no muscle on me. She gave me an ice pack and the soreness was gone in 30 minutes. This is a miracle drug for me. I can't take the pill version. I was on my way to sepsis. It saved me."

Ceftriaxone "Had Rocephin for bronchitis once, and it worked great. (3 shots) This week, I was in the ER and given this in IV for UTI. Felt much better. Sent home with Macrobid and got very ill. Will ask for Rocephin next time!"

"I just came back from getting my first of two ceftriaxone injections. This is the second time I have gotten these injections after suffering for years with UTIs from a combination of bladder prolapse surgery, a hysterectomy causing hormonal changes, and age all setting me up for UTIs. I had tried every oral medication available for many years with only short-term relief and often horrible side effects, including fainting, vomiting, and more. Cipro was the first and made me black out and hit my head on the bathroom floor when I keeled over, blacking out. Taking D-mannose, using Premarin estrogen cream, and an internet-touted product called UriAlive only offered short-term relief, but the bouts always came back about every two months. Now I have discovered ceftriaxone, and it seems to be a miracle cure for me, and I don't mind the butt injections at all, considering the alternatives."

Ceftriaxone "Fortunately, I don’t get UTIs very often, but when I get them, they’re extremely severe. I will feel one coming on, and then within an hour or two, I’m peeing blood, in severe pain, and going every few minutes. I was hit with one in the middle of the night four days ago and was left with no choice but to go to the ER. I was prescribed Macrobid, which has always helped me in the past, but a couple of days later, I felt that I was getting even worse. I went back to the ER yesterday morning, and they gave me an IV of Rocephin and switched my at-home antibiotics. It’s been almost 24 hours since my Rocephin dose, and I feel AMAZING. It helped the pelvic pain within maybe 4-6 hours. I woke up this morning, and it still burned to pee, but now that I’ve been up for a few hours, the burning is gone. I am so grateful for this miracle antibiotic. I finally feel like a human again."

Ceftriaxone "I had a UTI come back 3 weeks after taking Bactrim Sulfate for 3 days, and I woke in the middle of the night with sweats and the painful urgency to go pee. It was so bad that I couldn't wait to see my doctor the next day. I went to the E.R. at midnight, and after receiving treatment, I was given an injection of Rocephin 1 MG, with a written prescription for a 7-day antibiotic. LISTEN to me when I tell you this injection was like Satan slapping me on my rear and saying enjoy the next 10 minutes of fire. It hurt going in and hurt so bad, like my skin was melting for 10 minutes afterward. But IT WORKED, when I got up the next morning at 6 am, the urgency to pee was gone, and I had no pain. The injection site was very tender."

"I received 4 pills and this thick liquid antibiotic shot, Rocefin/Ceftriaxone. A shot never hurt me until I got this one, lol. The pain of the shot was so bad in my arm I could only laugh. The doctors told me that’s all I needed, I didn’t have any follow-up antibiotics, which kind of concerns me, but maybe I’ll take some over-the-counter antibiotics to be sure it’s treated. After 2 days of taking the pills and the shot, my UTI symptoms have already faded, it actually worked great."

Ceftriaxone "Got 3 doses over 3 days for E. coli UTI. Helped immediately after a failed course of Suprax. Now continuing with a 7-day course of nitrofurantoin to complete treatment. When administered intravenously, no pain at all. Love this antibiotic for UTI relief."

Ceftriaxone "Woke up and had pain in my right side to the point I was doubled over, went to ER. They gave me a shot of Rocephin and Toradol for pain. Was fine for about 3 hours and then started vomiting and didn't stop, it was brown and black and awful. My neck, side, and legs hurt. I'm not doubled over anymore, but still hurting and headaches, so I'm not really sure it has helped. Was given a prescription for Nitrofurantoin mono 100 mg and now I'm scared to take it after reading the reviews. I can't handle the side effects right now."

Ceftriaxone "I was given the shot today, after having finished a 7-day antibiotic which did not help my UTI at all. After reading the reviews, I see most people's symptoms cleared within 4-6 hours, however, I cannot say the same. I hope by the time I wake up I notice a difference. It's been 3 weeks, 2 oral antibiotics, lots of azo, and now the Rocephin shot. Let's cross our fingers and hope it makes the difference!"

"I've taken all antibiotics on the market for UTIs over the years. I already had a doctor appointment scheduled for the end of the week, so I pushed through. I had never known of the shot and was startled when my doctor asked, 'You can have this shot or take a week's worth of antibiotics.' Of course, I took the shot! The initial shot wasn't bad at all. But after, it felt like someone had punched me in the butt cheek. I looked funny rubbing my cheek, but it helps disperse the fluids through your tissue better. The soreness only lasted about 2-3 hours, then it was fine. The pain from the urine infection started going away quickly, so much faster than oral medication! It is Sunday now, and already I feel so much better. Now, to await the vaccine that's in the works!"

Ceftriaxone "I live in Africa. I had weird headaches for two weeks, with back pains and abdominal pains. Went to the hospital and was diagnosed with malaria and severe UTI. The doctor put me on malaria pills and Rocephin for 5 days. After two injections, I feel much better. Can’t wait to finish all my injections. But my hand is swollen from the injections."

Ceftriaxone "My daughter (5) got up one morning and went to the bathroom at least 40 times in 10 minutes (autistic, can talk but not with things like that) and I thought she was just being weird until it clicked it was a UTI. Took her to the Urgent Care and was running a fever and positive screen for UTI. Doctor recommended this shot to get treatment started and I thought about it for a minute and said do it and my daughter was better within an hour playing outside. The shot was obviously painful for her, she didn't enjoy it at all. And was prescribed additional antibiotics for 7 days. Glad we did the shot. I was surprised at its fast-acting abilities."

Ceftriaxone "I suspected that I had a UTI before we left for a week in Florida with my three kids, their spouses, and my six grandsons. I was sick the entire time and ended up in the emergency room in Destin. They gave me IV Rocephin and a prescription for oral antibiotics to finish when I got back to the house. I won't say it started helping right away, but it did help cure my severe UTI. I haven't had any blaring side effects, and I don't know whether to attribute this to the medication or to my illness, but nothing tastes the same since I was sick. I'm nauseous, but not all the time, and again I can't attribute that to the medication because I was so nauseous during the course of the illness. I'm very grateful for it."

Ceftriaxone "I have been suffering with a UTI infection. My PCP tried all kinds of antibiotics, nothing worked. Unfortunately, I cannot take oral medication due to my stomach sensitivity. Oral medication produces acid reflux on me extremely badly. Then I went to the ER last October, I was admitted to the hospital. I was given Rocephin IV, only 1 dose. It worked, and I was sent home. I was supposed to get five days of oral treatment, but that did not happen. I did not have any pain anymore. Anywhere after a few months, it began again, and I was given the generic injection, which was painful and did not work."

Ceftriaxone "I was given Macrobid and Cipro first for my UTI at urgent care. Both made me throw up, even with Zofran, so I went back. The doctor gave me this shot. I got it in my buttock, and it didn't hurt at all. The liquid burned a little, but I mean biting my tongue hurts worse than that. Overall, I'm super happy because my symptoms are gone a lot faster than with antibiotic pills, which always upset my stomach anyways. I will be asking for this for every UTI I get moving forward."

Ceftriaxone "I had one intravenous dose of Rocephin. Within a few minutes, I developed a burning/tingling in my fingertips and in my chest. It has been one day, and it has not gone away. Do not know if UTI is better, as I never really had much pain. Just discovered with urinalysis. I do not like the side effects if they are permanent."

Ceftriaxone "Cannot say enough about a shot of Rocephin to kick start getting rid of an infection along with Cephdnir if you have had a urine culture to say it is susceptible to antibiotics. A common bacteria Klebsiella infection, especially in older women such as myself who have had a total hysterectomy. One word of advice: get a culture done. I have also had to have three shots for strep that kept coming back, knocked it out finally after six months. No side effects."

"Had 3 shots of ceftriaxone over a 5-day period. For a UTI where 2 rounds of meds already failed. This did not help either. 2 rounds of more antibiotics later, I'm still infected. Going for tests. So no luck with this drug. Took under observation because of a possible allergic reaction. After the first shot, I started to shake and almost passed out. Though this may be due to the lidocaine as it speeds up my heart and makes me shake at the dentist. Was fine with the other two. The injection sites felt lumpy and hurt on and off. 3 weeks later, I'm having some nasty pain at the area of the last injection. Exercise, sitting wrong, carrying anything, or doing things around the house causes pain that doesn't let up."

"Went to urgent care this morning, been dealing with a UTI for the past 2 months. All tests were negative, prescribed Flagyl, moxifloxacin, Cipro, and Bactrim. They didn't eradicate the problem, insisted to the doctor to administer ceftriaxone, she complied, and I must say the results are spectacular... also sent an order to the pharmacist for doxycycline 100 mg 2x a day for 14."

"I found out yesterday from my ortho doctor that I had a very serious UTI. I slept 22 hours the day before, headache, diaphoretic, chills, nausea, severe abdominal and back pain. Saw my primary care physician today, and she asked if I would like a shot of Rocephin before I started my antibiotics. I was like sure, anything. All my pain symptoms were gone within 6 hours. Amazing. It is 11:00 pm now and I can't believe that just 10 hours ago I was weeping from extreme pain and discomfort. Minimal pain with injection in buttock."

"Had a serious UTI that. Bactrim didn't do anything to. First shot of Rocephin, not much changed. Burning, stiff lower back, feeling like rubbish. Woke up feeling the same way the next day. Got my second shot and, minutes maybe as long as an hour after the second shot, I'm feeling soooo much better. It's amazing. Can't wait, I have 3 more shots to take in my muscle. I am a paraplegic and use a leg bag with a Foley catheter. This is the first time that oral antibiotics haven't worked. I'm so happy that my doctor prescribed this shot. It really is a miracle drug."

"So I just received this ceftriaxone shot. Getting it wasn't so bad, but after I got hot and sweaty, and then the pain in my arm was so bad I couldn't help but cry out in pain. It's only been a half hour, and the pain is still there. I hope it goes away soon. But will update if it works."
