For Bacterial Infection "I received this shot a week ago for upper and lower respiratory infection. It was a painful shot, which is expected. However, a week later, I still have pain at the injection site. It’s about the size of a grapefruit and is painful to the touch and flexing of the gluteus muscle. I would say it did help relieve the symptoms of the infection, but not as quickly as some of the other reviews state. I’m just wondering how long I’ll have this pain in my glute."

Ceftriaxone for Urinary Tract Infection "Fortunately, I don’t get UTIs very often, but when I get them, they’re extremely severe. I will feel one coming on, and then within an hour or two, I’m peeing blood, in severe pain, and going every few minutes. I was hit with one in the middle of the night four days ago and was left with no choice but to go to the ER. I was prescribed Macrobid, which has always helped me in the past, but a couple of days later, I felt that I was getting even worse. I went back to the ER yesterday morning, and they gave me an IV of Rocephin and switched my at-home antibiotics. It’s been almost 24 hours since my Rocephin dose, and I feel AMAZING. It helped the pelvic pain within maybe 4-6 hours. I woke up this morning, and it still burned to pee, but now that I’ve been up for a few hours, the burning is gone. I am so grateful for this miracle antibiotic. I finally feel like a human again."

Ceftriaxone for Urinary Tract Infection "I had a UTI come back 3 weeks after taking Bactrim Sulfate for 3 days, and I woke in the middle of the night with sweats and the painful urgency to go pee. It was so bad that I couldn't wait to see my doctor the next day. I went to the E.R. at midnight, and after receiving treatment, I was given an injection of Rocephin 1 MG, with a written prescription for a 7-day antibiotic. LISTEN to me when I tell you this injection was like Satan slapping me on my rear and saying enjoy the next 10 minutes of fire. It hurt going in and hurt so bad, like my skin was melting for 10 minutes afterward. But IT WORKED, when I got up the next morning at 6 am, the urgency to pee was gone, and I had no pain. The injection site was very tender."

Ceftriaxone for Bacterial Infection "Got the shot in my hip last night for an infection in the lymph nodes in my neck. I felt a little better, but it made me even more sore and sensitive in my shoulders and chest afterward. Now it's been a full day and all the pain is back, the only thing that isn't is the dizziness. So far, no real difference."

Ceftriaxone for Gonococcal Infection, Uncomplicated "Found out I had gonorrhea. Doctor prescribed this and antibiotic pills (doxy). The shot is not as painful as everyone says, especially if you take precautions: 1. Insist that they mix the shot with lidocaine, 2. Ice it when you get home, ice it before bed. I got it in the left arm, and I was rock climbing the next day. Symptoms decreased significantly 6 hours after the shot."

Ceftriaxone for Bacterial Infection "My doctor prescribed this for a tooth infection until I could get to the dentist. I have problems with my stomach and can't take oral antibiotics. I had 2 grams the first day, then one gram for the next 4 days. It seems to be helping the infection, but I started having pain between my shoulder blades and belching. I also had bloating and pain in my stomach. So, same stomach issues as oral antibiotics."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I received 4 pills and this thick liquid antibiotic shot, Rocefin/Ceftriaxone. A shot never hurt me until I got this one, lol. The pain of the shot was so bad in my arm I could only laugh. The doctors told me that’s all I needed, I didn’t have any follow-up antibiotics, which kind of concerns me, but maybe I’ll take some over-the-counter antibiotics to be sure it’s treated. After 2 days of taking the pills and the shot, my UTI symptoms have already faded, it actually worked great."

Ceftriaxone for Urinary Tract Infection "Got 3 doses over 3 days for E. coli UTI. Helped immediately after a failed course of Suprax. Now continuing with a 7-day course of nitrofurantoin to complete treatment. When administered intravenously, no pain at all. Love this antibiotic for UTI relief."

Ceftriaxone for Urinary Tract Infection "Woke up and had pain in my right side to the point I was doubled over, went to ER. They gave me a shot of Rocephin and Toradol for pain. Was fine for about 3 hours and then started vomiting and didn't stop, it was brown and black and awful. My neck, side, and legs hurt. I'm not doubled over anymore, but still hurting and headaches, so I'm not really sure it has helped. Was given a prescription for Nitrofurantoin mono 100 mg and now I'm scared to take it after reading the reviews. I can't handle the side effects right now."

For Middle Ear Infections "I've gotten this ceftriaxone shot at least five times in my life. Most recently, and every time for double ear infections. They shot me in my butt with two shots, one this, and the other was a steroid. Either way, I don't have back issues whatsoever, and my lower back is usually on fire, it really hurts! I most definitely feel this shot is worth whatever pain you are going through to need it. Suffer through the pain and get by."

For Middle Ear Infections "Had this antibiotic injection for an ear infection. Recommended by a friend in the medical profession, she said it works better than anything else. Stings a bit going in the butt, but absolutely worth it, felt better a few hours after the injection. One and done. I would not hesitate to get this if it happens again. Sometimes you might need a second or third, but it is still the best option out there."

Ceftriaxone for Urinary Tract Infection "I was given the shot today, after having finished a 7-day antibiotic which did not help my UTI at all. After reading the reviews, I see most people's symptoms cleared within 4-6 hours, however, I cannot say the same. I hope by the time I wake up I notice a difference. It's been 3 weeks, 2 oral antibiotics, lots of azo, and now the Rocephin shot. Let's cross our fingers and hope it makes the difference!"

For Bronchitis "My 16-year-old son had a persistent sinus and throat infection. On our second trip to an urgent care center, the doctor prescribed a Decadron shot and a 1-gram shot of Rocephin. He was not very happy to hear he was getting two shots, but nothing else had worked. The nurse came in with the shots and said both had to go in his bottom. The Decadron shot wasn’t too bad, but the Rocephin shot looked very large and was very painful. Even so, it really worked. He was sore from the Rocephin shot, but symptoms were almost completely gone the next day. I know he hated the Rocephin shot, but it really did work."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I've taken all antibiotics on the market for UTIs over the years. I already had a doctor appointment scheduled for the end of the week, so I pushed through. I had never known of the shot and was startled when my doctor asked, 'You can have this shot or take a week's worth of antibiotics.' Of course, I took the shot! The initial shot wasn't bad at all. But after, it felt like someone had punched me in the butt cheek. I looked funny rubbing my cheek, but it helps disperse the fluids through your tissue better. The soreness only lasted about 2-3 hours, then it was fine. The pain from the urine infection started going away quickly, so much faster than oral medication! It is Sunday now, and already I feel so much better. Now, to await the vaccine that's in the works!"

Ceftriaxone for Bacterial Infection "TMI, I was burning pretty bad down there. It was the worst pain I had ever experienced down there. I finally gave in and went to an urgent care. Come to find out, I had a raging UTI. I had never had one before, so I had no idea. The doctor gave me a shot of Rocephin in the butt and boom, the next day I was back to normal. They made me wait 10-15 minutes before I could leave to make sure I didn’t have any side effects. I really recommend getting this if you have a UTI. I know that there are antibiotics out there for UTIs, but most of them take a couple of days to start feeling relief."

Ceftriaxone for Urinary Tract Infection "I live in Africa. I had weird headaches for two weeks, with back pains and abdominal pains. Went to the hospital and was diagnosed with malaria and severe UTI. The doctor put me on malaria pills and Rocephin for 5 days. After two injections, I feel much better. Can’t wait to finish all my injections. But my hand is swollen from the injections."

Ceftriaxone for Urinary Tract Infection "My daughter (5) got up one morning and went to the bathroom at least 40 times in 10 minutes (autistic, can talk but not with things like that) and I thought she was just being weird until it clicked it was a UTI. Took her to the Urgent Care and was running a fever and positive screen for UTI. Doctor recommended this shot to get treatment started and I thought about it for a minute and said do it and my daughter was better within an hour playing outside. The shot was obviously painful for her, she didn't enjoy it at all. And was prescribed additional antibiotics for 7 days. Glad we did the shot. I was surprised at its fast-acting abilities."

For Joint Infection "I was bitten by my cat and ended up in the hospital for 6 days with an infection in the wound. I was put on ceftriaxone through IV. I was then sent home with a PICC line, and I was giving myself this medicine intravenously for 15 more days. I suffered through some side effects, and now I have to get treated for Clostridium difficile, which is caused by long-term IV antibiotic treatment. The jury is still out on how effective it is."

Ceftriaxone for Bronchitis "I was given this medicine after my doctor and discovered I pretty much had an absent immune system. I have been on several pill antibiotics, and nothing was working anymore. I had this medicine by IV in a doctor's office one time. My infection finally went away. I didn't have any reaction to this medicine."

Ceftriaxone for Bacterial Infection "I received Rocephin for treatment of thyroiditis through IV in a diluent 2 years back. Just after 3 to 4 minutes of IV infusion, my body started getting warmth and severe itching on the whole body along with sweating. The medication was immediately stopped, however, the feeling continued for the next 10 to 15 minutes. I was given an antidote immediately to reduce the symptoms and was shifted to ICU for vital observation. It was the worst experience of my life with any antibiotics. It didn't work for me. But everyone must also be careful if they are getting it for the first time."

Ceftriaxone for Urinary Tract Infection "I suspected that I had a UTI before we left for a week in Florida with my three kids, their spouses, and my six grandsons. I was sick the entire time and ended up in the emergency room in Destin. They gave me IV Rocephin and a prescription for oral antibiotics to finish when I got back to the house. I won't say it started helping right away, but it did help cure my severe UTI. I haven't had any blaring side effects, and I don't know whether to attribute this to the medication or to my illness, but nothing tastes the same since I was sick. I'm nauseous, but not all the time, and again I can't attribute that to the medication because I was so nauseous during the course of the illness. I'm very grateful for it."

Ceftriaxone for Pneumonia "Got sick really fast, had bad sinus drainage, fever, and coughed up my lungs (it felt like) with so much force. My doctor did an X-ray, which was normal, but I’ve had pneumonia several times, so he started me on Rocephin and a steroid shot. The next day, another shot of Rocephin and day three, another plus a few steroid pills, 20 mg, but those make my head almost explode. I can do the shots better. It seems I’m still coughing, but mucus is getting clearer. But I’m happy to have a doctor that knows me and how fast I can get sick. I’m putting my ankle surgery off, I was supposed to have it next week but am waiting three more weeks to get stronger."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I just came back from getting my first of two ceftriaxone injections. This is the second time I have gotten these injections after suffering for years with UTIs from a combination of bladder prolapse surgery, a hysterectomy causing hormonal changes, and age all setting me up for UTIs. I had tried every oral medication available for many years with only short-term relief and often horrible side effects, including fainting, vomiting, and more. Cipro was the first and made me black out and hit my head on the bathroom floor when I keeled over, blacking out. Taking D-mannose, using Premarin estrogen cream, and an internet-touted product called UriAlive only offered short-term relief, but the bouts always came back about every two months. Now I have discovered ceftriaxone, and it seems to be a miracle cure for me, and I don't mind the butt injections at all, considering the alternatives."
