For Sinusitis "Was prescribed this for suspected strep throat. I had a fever, so the doctor went ahead and prescribed this to me. First day, I had loose stools and nausea. This continued until the fifth day, I had severe muscle pain and a severe headache. It was a struggle to just walk to the bathroom. Right now, I have watery diarrhea and stomach cramps. Earlier today, I had a fever and severe body chills. Over-the-counter pain meds have not made a dent. Last night, I was tossing and turning in pain and got very little sleep. Cure worse than the cause! I've tolerated many other antibiotics very well in the past, and I will never allow my doctor to prescribe this to me again."

Cefdinir for Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "I get tonsillitis every year, and recently I decided to go to the doctor to get some antibiotics. He prescribed me cefdinir, and it worked great, my tonsils cleared up, but there is only one problem: the side effects. I decided to not go the full 10 days and stopped using it after a week. I developed horrible vaginal itching as well as diarrhea, which led to blood in my stool. This medication did the job, but I don't think I would ever take it again. Hopefully, since I stopped this medication, these side effects will go away soon."

For Sinusitis "I was prescribed on a Tuesday to take cefdinir for a sinus infection (alongside a steroid, which I only took for a day). Tuesday went fine, I felt better. Wed PM before my fourth dosage, I had intense stomach pain (I can normally handle stomach pain/cramps) and was advised to eat something. Felt better and took my 4th pill. Woke up around 3 am Thursday, and I could taste the pill in my mouth (indigestion/reflux). Pushed it off, went to sleep, and woke up an hour later, and I thought I was dying on the toilet. Stomach pain, diarrhea, and vomiting (at the same time) and this weird finger cramp where I couldn’t move my fingers, along with panic/shallow breathing. This lasted off and on for almost two hours (mostly diarrhea), and I was too scared to finish the RX."

For Sinusitis "My ENT doctor prescribed Cefdinir for my sinus infection. At day three, I thought that the green discharge in my nose was getting less. But it’s come on strong again at day five. The side effects are constant, mild headache and then screaming headaches at night. Fortunately, ibuprofen and acetaminophen get rid of them at night. Also, diarrhea is a constant companion with this drug. I can’t even rate it, I am so upset. Loaded with side effects and no positive effects. I don't like writing bad reviews because my kids are doctors, but folks, here you go! My observation is that doctors are no different in their rally points than athletes. The latest and greatest new thing will be prescribed because the drug companies are all over them like flies on flypaper. Unfortunately, my observation is that it takes a lot to undo this new reliance on the 'greatest new thing.' I wish you luck in dealing with a sinus infection, but I am putting myself on amoxicillin today."

For Middle Ear Infections "They prescribed this to my 10-month-old for an ear infection. She wasn’t showing any signs of infection, but during her visit, they discovered the infection. So they prescribed her cefdinir, and after the first two doses, I missed almost one day, so instead of double dosing, I just let her skip a dose. I feel terrible for missing a day, but for stuff like this, if I don’t set a timer, I miss the mark. However, I know these symptoms aren’t from a missed dose, they’re from the medicine. She kept a temp of 102-104, so I took her to the ER, and they told me the home remedies for breaking the fever, so I did. But no matter how many times I broke it, it would rise again immediately. It got up to 104.7. I thought I was going to vomit seeing my baby look so miserable. She had diarrhea from it, she lost her appetite. She was like a limp noodle, and she couldn’t get comfortable. I was so scared for my baby. But I don’t know if I should just abruptly stop giving it to her?"

"I was on this for UTI and thought I was the only one to hallucinate with cefdinir, honestly, it wasn't that bad. Some mild swirling of vision the second day of taking cefdinir. Other than that, the pharmacist warned me it might cause diarrhea. Note to those taking it, it definitely causes diarrhea the first few days. I am taking 300 mg twice a day with food. My UTI has been clearing up, so I can't complain. I'll finish the course (1 week) before I say anything conclusive, but so far, cefdinir has worked for me."

Cefdinir for Sinusitis "This medicine made me feel worse than the original symptoms. I usually have a high tolerance for meds, don’t usually get dizzy or feel nauseous ever. But this medicine made me feel as if I was suffering from being hungover. I would drive 8 hours later after taking the meds and would feel like I could black out whenever. I would randomly feel nauseous. The headaches were a constant theme. Now that I’ve read the comments, I can attribute some of the diarrhea I had to it. I went back to the doctor and was prescribed Doxycycline, so I’m on day 4 and I feel better but still suffer from a cough."

For Bronchitis "I took this medication for a respiratory infection. It gave me severe, relentless diarrhea that I am still suffering from a year later. I have been hospitalized numerous times from it. It has completely disabled me."

"I was prescribed cefdinir 300 mg for a UTI. I have taken it 3 out of the 7 days prescribed. I have severe diarrhea. I have called Dr. waiting on callback. I take meds for IBS and diverticulitis. It has been so bad overnight that I even took Imodium, which hasn't helped. Nauseated since yesterday, fatigue also."

For Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "I regret allowing this to be prescribed for my 17-year-old son. He normally takes Zithromax for respiratory infections, but he was seeing a new/different provider. She wanted to give him this. After a total of 4 doses, he was no better, not even slightly. I understand drugs need time to work, but I almost think he worsened a bit on this. And then, after the 4th dose, he developed diarrhea. This is hard for a busy high school student. I had been carefully giving him probiotics also, but that did not help. The doctor's office is switching him back to Zithromax."

For Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "I'll give it credit that it did make me feel better - but the cost was a very upset stomach. I've never had issues with antibiotics upsetting my stomach before, but this medicine gave me really bad diarrhea one day after starting it. Still not over the diarrhea after almost a week off the medicine. Obviously, everyone reacts differently, but I won't be using this medicine again."

For Sinusitis "The cefdinir seemed to help. I had very thick drainage in the back of my throat for several months. However, on day 8 of the antibiotic, I got a fever…fairly low of about 100.5. But horrible body aches. Far worse than what I had with Covid and a fever of 103. Then the diarrhea started. Couldn't stay away from the bathroom. Horrible stomach pain as well. I'll never take it again."

For Sinusitis "I took cefdinir in combination with methylprednisolone for a suspected sinus infection. I took it every 12 hours for 10 days. We didn't confirm for sure that I had a sinus infection, but my symptoms were gone by the last day of cefdinir. I did experience gas and diarrhea for the first 5 days of taking cefdinir, but it was manageable and did not interfere with my daily life. The side effects tapered off and stopped occurring by day 6. My doctor recommended that I take a probiotic while taking cefdinir, so every day I took two probiotics 6 hours after the first dose of the day. It seemed like eating lots of fiber helped lessen the gas and diarrhea as well. I wasn't sure that this drug was helping at first because I expected my symptoms to get better very rapidly, but my symptoms got better slowly and gradually, and I didn't feel fully back to normal until day 9. Unless your side effects are severe, be patient and complete your antibiotics, it's worth it."

For Middle Ear Infections "I was given Cefdinir for an ear infection by a doctor at the urgent care. He had access to all my records and knew I was allergic to most antibiotics, which cause swelling of lips and turn my face red. He said I would be fine with Cefdinir. Just finished the last dose this morning after taking it for 10 days. No side effects except for a loose stool. Since I am prone to ear infections, I am relieved to know this drug works for me."

For Middle Ear Infections "5-month-old infant prescribed cefdinir for ear infection; next morning, diaper full of bloody diarrhea; to ER; MD said ear infection not serious enough for antibiotics; discontinue cefdinir; continue to treat 'pink eye' with drops."

"Be careful taking this. I experienced very bad stomach aches, gas, and bloating, along with very watery diarrhea for about 2 weeks after taking it. Only just now feeling better after week 3. Highly recommend taking a strong probiotic to help rebuild your gut."

Cefdinir "Great drug, one dose, and your UTI is pretty much gone, but so is all the other bacteria you need. This medication made me so violently ill. Vomiting, watery diarrhea, and stomach cramping. Had to pull over while driving to vomit (never had to do that before in my life, not even when I was pregnant). Thankfully, it has a short duration of activity in the body, so by the next day, I was okay. But this went straight into the garbage can after that."

For Pneumonia "Started with a cold, but better in 3 days. A couple of days later, bad sneezing/coughing spells, body aches, and lack of energy!!! I still hung tough, thinking it had to eventually go away…until I got to the point that I was so sick I couldn’t get out of bed! A friend helped me go to the hospital and I was diagnosed with pneumonia and prescribed five days of cefdinir, 300 mg, twice daily. After the first day, I could feel a difference and was able to get a few things done. I felt even better on day two; HOWEVER, I was up all night with diarrhea! On day three and four, I was back to feeling really crummy. Today is day five and I feel absolutely horrible, with diarrhea, stomachache, headache, exhaustion, whole body aching, and difficulty remembering how to do simple things, like opening our car door!!! Hope it killed the illness, but it is day five and glad I no longer need to take this medication!!!"

"For a UTI, took 2/day x 10 days as prescribed and I do not plan on taking this again. It caused nausea with vomiting most mornings (not pregnant at my age), then colitis with bad diarrhea! With all of the diarrhea I will be blessed to not get another UTI, which would defeat the purpose of taking it to begin with…"

For Sinusitis "I have had a sinus infection and ear infection for months on end. I was prescribed this and had been suffering severe constipation before. No more constipation, I have to take it easy because exertion makes the digestive issues worse, but I understand the need to cleanse the system, and for some that is diarrhea and vomit. Those that have allergic reactions, I'm sorry, but it isn't a reason to take it off the market, allergic reactions to meds should always be looked at. I'm hoping this will finally get rid of my infections. Can't smell and have loss of hearing. It sucks."

"I had been taking Bactrim for several months for UTI. The symptoms would come and go. So my PCP said I was positive. She says the bacteria I have is resistant to Bactrim. She called in this antibiotic. Within the first couple of days, the diarrhea began, and each day it got worse. The burning pain is unbearable. The diarrhea is uncontrollable and unrelenting. I haven't slept. I called my doc to tell her I want to switch to another. She said for my strain of bacteria, there are only three. This one, Cipro, and one other, which she says would cause even worse diarrhea. I have one day left on this wicked drug. This drug also has risks of Steven Johnson syndrome, which is very scary. I wish I'd read this web page before I consented to taking this. I certainly wasn't even expecting this misery."

For Middle Ear Infections "Very happy with my overall experience on this medicine. I had a severe ear infection and other antibiotics did not help. After taking this, I am much better than I have been yet. Although the infection is not fully gone, it is less than it was. The worst part about this was the loose stool, but I can handle that in comparison to anything else. Personally, I would recommend this, but this is just my experience and everyone is different."
