"I don't usually post but I find these helpful and feel like this could help others (it also helps articulate my thoughts). Only been on this for 2 months after being on Abilify. Cariprazine seems okay and seems to do the job, might need more time to adjust to give a more accurate review. So far no major symptoms that I notice but still minor/faint things in certain situations (hard to explain), far less sedating than Abilify. Feel a bit flat mood-wise but helps with depression, feel a bit more relaxed mentally, not as hard on myself. Do get very shaky legs when sitting still for long periods of time. Started finding time to do some self-care which is out of the ordinary."

Cariprazine "I have schizoaffective disorder with predominantly negative symptoms. While other drugs have settled my positive symptoms like hallucinations and mood swings, nothing would erase my anhedonia and avolition. I was eventually deemed unfit to work because I couldn't function. Vraylar was only recently approved here and I was my psychiatrist's first patient on the drug. It took a while to find the right regimen, 3 mg in the afternoon and 3 mg at bedtime. Within a few weeks, I was functioning again and back in the office motivated and productive. The side effects are a bit unpleasant, especially the akathisia. I also developed hypomagnesemia, causing crippling fatigue, so that had to be supplemented. Unfortunately, it didn't replace the other antipsychotics I'm taking, namely Latuda for psychosis and Seroquel for hallucinations and mixed episodes. I still credit Seroquel for changing my life, but Vraylar gave me my brain back."

Cariprazine "Vraylar did nothing to stop the voices from my schizoaffective disorder. Ativan, Klonopin, and Valium work better at stopping the voices. I would get off the Vraylar and find a doctor or someone else that prescribes benzodiazepines like the ones I listed in the second sentence. If you want your voices to be gone, get on a benzodiazepine immediately. It relaxes your mind and sometimes produces a euphoria. I have schizoaffective disorder."

Cariprazine "My psychiatrist started me on 3 mg, now I'm on 4.5 mg. Very tired and feel unmotivated, and lazy. I still hate people and stay home and don't want to socialize. I'm a recluse."

"I had such bad symptoms with voices and hallucinations that my doctor started me on Cariprazine at the dosage of 3 mg. I am now at 6 mg, and I can honestly say it is so peaceful to finally not hear a voice in my head or whispers in my ear. I finally have peace in my life, and I am so thankful for my doctor and the creator of Vraylar. I am in love with this medication. I have had no side effects other than being hungry, but that’s typical with any antipsychotic."
