For Depression "I have anxiety and depression. I tried SSRIs, and they just masked the depression and caused sexual side effects. Wellbutrin XL helped me feel much better, and I didn't have negative sexual side effects. Best sex I've ever had on Wellbutrin XL. Now with the future I think about, feel optimistic about, and am planning for it. I don't have anxiety like I had. I am more philosophical, 'Tomorrow will be a better day.' I'm motivated to accomplish things. I wish I had found this med years ago."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have been taking Wellbutrin 300 XL for about 3 years. It helps my depression a lot. I am able to function daily and not overreact. Started at 150 mg and went to 300 mg. Before Wellbutrin, I was very depressed, and working, parenting, and everything was causing me grief, sadness, and fear. I was overweight and I overreacted to small things. I felt hopeless and on edge every day. I have a low-functioning thyroid as well that may have been making my depression worse. So now I am on track. It took me about 2 weeks to feel a difference. Now I do have several of the side effects. I lost about 30 lbs. I have a low appetite, I have ringing in my right ear. I also have dry mouth, anxiety, trouble sleeping, and blurred vision. I can handle the side effects but not the depression. So I have stayed on the medicine. Also, I suddenly stopped taking the meds one time and it caused suicidal thoughts and flu-like symptoms."

For Depression "After being on several medications and therapy for over a year and experiencing numerous suicidal thoughts, I had given up on life. I read reviews on here of people saying: 'Be patient and your life will change.' My life never changed and I was stuck in the same lifeless routine every day. I now take 187.5mg of Effexor XR with 150 Wellbutrin XL, and trust me, it took months for things to improve, but everything changed. Suddenly, life didn’t seem so awful. I began making goals for myself, and I wanted to get up and be active instead of sleeping my depression away. I do get slightly depressed here and there, but nothing so bad that I would want to end my life. Please don’t give up hope... reach out to someone you love and trust, they will help you get through this difficult time. And be patient even if it takes two years. It took me almost two years of suffering to get to where I am now. There is light at the end of the tunnel :) feel free to ask any questions you might have."

For Depression "I relied on these reviews when I first started meds, so wanted to share my experience. I have been on Wellbutrin XL 300mg for about 2.5 years with extremely positive results. This is the first antidepressant I have ever taken, and I have been much better on it. No more falling through emotional thin ice 20+ times a day, no more crying, and hardly any negative thinking. Started on 150XL for about 1.5-2 months then up to 300XL. Experienced almost no side effects -- only a few occasional strange headaches in the beginning. Only side effect is constipation, which can mostly be mitigated with fiber and good eating. Exercise is still a must for me to feel okay. Before, post-gym I would go from -6 to 1 or 2. Now with Meds I go from 3/4 to a 9/10."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder in 2006. My depression comes in cycles, but I take this medication every day. I was on Zoloft for about 3 years off and on and gained about 30 pounds, was tired all the time, and had some discouraging sexual side effects to top everything off. I did my research and discovered Wellbutrin, which other people said was more stimulating and had no sexual side effects. I asked my doctor if I could switch and started tapering off Zoloft while starting 150 mg of Wellbutrin. My doctor upped the dose to 300 mg and I had never been happier! It has drastically changed my life. Lost weight and can get up in the morning without being a total grouch. I only gave it a 9 because of the cost."

For Depression "26-year-old male. Been on it for 31 days. 1st week 150mg XL: high-speed energy. Mild insomnia (up till 3 am most nights). Waking early and generally good mood. 2nd week 300mg XL. Very high constant anxiety. Emotional swings. Broke down in tears one day. 3rd week: Things were smoothing out. Still slightly anxious. Less emotional. 4th week: Feeling completely normal, almost like I'm not on any medication. More level-headed and better mood with fewer swings. Anxiety disappearing and confidence growing. No side effects. This is in combination with seeking help from a counselor, and confiding with a close friend of mine about how depressed I have been over the years. I am happy I took it. It has got me back on my feet and allowed me to seek help."

For Depression "This medicine has saved my life. I was on it for several years (300 mg) and felt it wasn't helping anymore, so I quit it on my own. No problem quitting, but a few months ago began feeling hopeless due to financial problems and could not do anything on weekends but lay around in bed and sleep my weekends away. I couldn't get anything done and put important things off that needed to be done. In just the last 2 days, I can tell that I already want to get out of bed and do housework and get a shower. I didn't realize what Wellbutrin XL did for me, but I do now and am grateful I am back on it!"

For Depression "I have been on Wellbutrin XL now for almost 7 years and I love it. Before starting Wellbutrin with the other medications, I felt tired, could hardly function, and could not think clearly. It was so bad that I was ready to quit all the meds and just live my life depressed. I mean, after all, I was sleeping my life away anyway so it didn't matter. So I told my psychiatrist and she put me on Wellbutrin XL. It took about 3 weeks to start noticing a big improvement. I felt energetic, I wanted to do things again, my mood has been really good, I could concentrate. It helped me tremendously in my job and I was able to start living life to the fullest and be that fun-loving, energetic person I want to be. I highly recommend this medicine."

For Depression "I've been on Wellbutrin for 6 months now for anxiety and depression, and I feel AMAZING. I've lost 30 lbs and am still losing, not through any actual work on my part. I just find that I'm not as hungry. I'm full of energy every morning and it lasts all day. I've also noticed an insane increase in libido, and I've easily kicked some bad habits without really trying, like biting my nails. It just doesn't happen anymore. I also don't have any desire for alcohol or cigarettes. For once in my life since starting this long road of antidepressants, I FINALLY feel like this is the one for me. The only negative side effects I have noticed are that my chest and neck stay flushed, and I really do have to remind myself to eat."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I used to have 0 motivation. I could not get out of bed for weeks at a time. I ate whatever food I had and peed in bottles because I couldn’t make the effort to go to the bathroom, even though the bathroom is across from my room! On the second day of taking Wellbutrin XL 150mg, I found myself washing my dishes! It surprised me! And it continued to get better from there. Now, after about 6 weeks, I’m back in school, working, eating, exercising, meditating, my room is spotless, my car is clean, I shower every day, and I’m more motivated than I have ever been. A few tips: 1. As helpful as this med is, you can’t just rely on this to help you. You must create a healthy lifestyle (eat, exercise, sleep, etc). After all, health comes from healthy living. 2. You might get insomnia and nightmares. To help with insomnia, I take 300mg magnesium glycinate and melatonin. It helps but it’s not 100% effective. 3. You won’t get hungry, but remember to eat at least 2,000 calories."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I’ve been taking this for a little over 2 weeks now. Before this, I was on Zoloft for almost 5 years. 6 years of my life, I had constant thoughts of ending it. Ever since I’ve been on this medication, I finally want to live. So far, I’m having the basic side effects of most antidepressants: loss of appetite (although it is coming back), dry mouth, constipation/stomach pains, and being a bit more sensitive than usual. I would much rather deal with any side effects than wanting to end my life. I’ve read that some side effects will go away within time (since I’m only on my third week)."

For Depression "I've been battling moderate anxiety and depression for most of my adult life. I'm 24 now, and since my official diagnosis at age 20, I have tried 4 other medications (Celexa, Zoloft, Paxil, Buspar) and found that each one increased my anxiety or made me a despondent zombie. 3 months ago, my PCP put me on Wellbutrin. Let me tell you, this medication saved my life. I went from spending days lying in bed, smoking weed, having daily panic attacks to waking up with a desire to take on the day. In the few months since I've been on the medication, I've lost 30 pounds. It suppresses the urge to binge eat and provides energy for the gym. My friends said I finally seem like me again. Highly recommended if you hate SSRIs like me!"

For Major Depressive Disorder "Before: I've lived with depression for at least 10 years. I've tried Lexapro, Paxil, and Prozac in the past, unfortunately, it left me overall numb. I felt antidepressants weren't for me, so I tried overcoming my depression by changing my lifestyle. For a year, I ate healthier, worked out, and got enough sleep. While my overall health did improve (based on my bloodwork), and I did feel a bit better, my depression was still hovering over me like a cloud. I was still down, had crying spells, snapping at people, bouts of anger, irritable, and just had zero patience. I knew I had to do something when I couldn't even enjoy my vacation at a beautiful resort. Present: My doctor prescribed me Wellbutrin XL 150 mg, and oddly enough, I started to feel better after 3 days. Two weeks in, my husband noticed I was more focused, calmer, happier, and overall uplifted. 2 months in, I feel like a different person. Please give Wellbutrin a try, you have nothing to lose."

For Depression "I've had mild to severe depression my whole life. I was on Prozac from high school to my early 20s. When I was pregnant with my first child, I stopped taking my Prozac. A year ago, I knew it was time to get back on something because my depression was creeping back in. I spoke to my OB/GYN, and she suggested Wellbutrin XL, and OMG! So grateful that she suggested this. I started with 300mg, and now a year and a half later, I'm on 450mg. And let me be honest... losing 35 lbs because of this medication is a PLUS, especially for my depression!"

For Depression "Started out on generic XL 150mg/day taken in the morning. After 2 weeks, started seeing results; feeling great all day with occasional depression at the end of the day. Doctor increased to XL 300 mg/day. Big improvement - more energy and motivation, no problem with any side effects except for welcomed weight loss! Dropped 18 lbs in two months. Really easy to diet on this med!"

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have struggled with anxiety and depression for years. I've tried some other meds, and they've all made me crazy. I'm usually anti-pharma, but I have no regrets taking this again. I'm also taking St. John's wort, and I feel like the combo really works for me. My sex drive is back, my motivation is through the roof, I can focus and concentrate again, most of my brain fog has lifted. I wake up and feel a sense of calm. It has also helped with my anxiety. Things don't bother me much anymore. It doesn't numb my emotions though. I actually feel excited, joyous, happy, and confident. I'm so grateful for Wellbutrin because it's given me myself back. I'm less angry. I'm less likely to react and fight with my partner. I'm on 300 mg. I highly recommend it, but I do know everyone is different, and this is just my experience! I wanted to share because of how much it's benefited my life! I'm a better mom, friend, and partner because of it."

For Depression "This medication is very activating without making me anxious. I take it for depression, but I also have general anxiety disorder and OCD. I was a little worried about taking it at first because one of the side effects indicated that it could make anxiety worse, but I didn't have that problem at all. It definitely helps with depression and lifting my mood. It's not a 'happy pill,' but it is good with getting and keeping you going and not letting depression ruin you and keep you from doing what needs to be done and living your life."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I am on day 3 of taking 150 mg Wellbutrin XL, extended release. I was previously taking 10 mg Lexapro for 4 years. I found myself constantly fatigued, absolutely no libido, and gaining weight. I'm a 44-year-old, 145 lb female. Day one I noticed immediate effects such as calmness, and I wasn't as sad. Keep in mind, I took a month off from no meds at all. I wanted to give my body time to adjust without having the Lexapro in my system. Day 2 and 3, I noticed my appetite was suppressed. I wasn't as hungry as before. I have also been experiencing a slight headache. I am also dealing with insomnia. I think I got maybe 1 hour of sleep the first night, second night, slept better but did wake up and had a hard time falling back to sleep. I will keep you updated and good luck to anyone taking this medication! I have read horror stories of mixing this with alcohol. I haven't tried it and am almost scared to have a glass of wine...I'm not a big drinker but am scared to have at least 1 or 2 glasses of wine."

For Depression "I've been taking generic Bupropion XL (150mg) for three days and I can already say I feel like a new person. Before, I had no energy. Other than going to work, all I could do was lay around and feel sorry for myself. In just three days, I feel more clear-headed, energetic, and optimistic... I wish I had started it sooner! The only other medication that's worked for me in the past was Adderall, but I couldn't go on taking it due to the many unwanted side effects. Bupropion has worked wonders - little to no side effects for me, other than a slightly increased sex drive and loss of appetite (though nothing compared to Adderall in that department). I've also been having really vivid dreams, which I love, since I've never been one to remember them."

For Depression "I have been on this medication for half a year. I was prescribed it for my ADHD and depression. It changed my life completely. As I have never felt so great in my whole life since I was a child. High motivation, increased energy, no suicidal thoughts, and it helped me to eat less and lose weight! I was on Lexapro for anxiety and panic for 5 years and gained a lot of weight. Also, I had some other side effects with Lexapro. Happy!"

For Depression "I've never felt compelled to write a review for a medication before, but Wellbutrin XL saved my life. I suffered from chronic depression for years before I started taking Wellbutrin, and within weeks, it was as if the rain stopped, and there's nothing but clear blue skies and sunshine since. Seriously. I cannot say enough good things about this medicine. The great thing about Wellbutrin (I take 150 MG) is that it doesn't make you feel zombie-like at all. I feel like a brighter, happier version of myself. I also take 150 MG of Lamictal, which has also significantly helped as well. I highly recommend these medications to anyone suffering from bipolar depression. They have done wonders."

For Depression "Was taking Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) 150mg in the AM & Zoloft (sertraline) 150mg at night. There was a miscommunication at my pharmacy, so I was out of Zoloft over a holiday weekend (3 days). It was the best miscommunication ever! With solely the Wellbutrin XL, I have my old self back minus the anxiety & depression. I wake up refreshed. I have more energy. I'm not napping every day or extremely lethargic. I'm excited to exercise, my libido is back & I'm calm and happy. It also has seemed to help with my food cravings, an extra bonus."

Every year, it has helped me. In the fall, I feel a sadness coming over me, and find myself sleeping more, getting out and doing less. When I start taking the Wellbutrin, within a week, I am back to my normal self."

I take 1 x 150mg in the morning but work full-time in sales, go to school, and just recently moved in a year ago with the father of my 6-year-old. Prior to this medicine, we almost didn't make it. I was angry, jealous, compulsive, impulsive, and could have committed suicide twice in one month. This medicine has saved my life and possibly my family. Nothing else worked. I also take 200mg of generic Lamictal twice a day. I am alive again."

For Major Depressive Disorder "If at all possible, you really need to use the name brand Wellbutrin if you're going with the XL version. I thought this med was terrible (Bupropion XL), causing heart palpitations, confusion, nightmares, the list goes on. I tried two different generics, both were terrible. I read a few posts regarding issues with the XL version, as well as some FDA articles on removing the generic XL from the market in 2012 (that's not too long ago). This got me wondering if it was the time release mechanism of the generics causing all of my side effects. I have been taking it for over a month now with miraculous results. Side effects are non-existent, happiness is back, motivation is back, sex drive is back. This med truly is a miracle for me. It's also helping so much with my ADHD, to the point I've all but stopped using any stimulants. Please, before you write off this medication, try to get the name brand."
