For Supraventricular Tachycardia "I have been taking Bisoprolol 10 mg (one per day) for 3 years now. I was suffering from Tachycardia and was fainting regularly. At 70 years of age, I go jogging and go to the gym once per week. I feel super fit, and my personal trainer says I am fitter than many of his customers who are 30 years younger than me. No doubt I will just drop down dead one day (Brexit will probably still be rumbling on!), but in the meantime, hallelujah!"

For High Blood Pressure "Caution-efficacy varies greatly depending on the generic manufacturer. For 15 years, I used MYLAN generic. It worked wonderfully at a 5 mg dose. Then the pharmacy switched to the Unichem manufacturer-my BP went to over 170/110. I’m certain it was the Unichem generic because I was able to return to MYLAN and my BP reduced again. Also, for those with palpitations or Right Bundle Branch Block with PVCs, your potassium levels may be low. My abnormal ECG was completely cured with a prescription potassium supplement. It also lowers BP and restores normal sinus rhythm from bradycardia (too slow). Look at your blood test results yourself and compare them with normal ranges. Often, doctors only tell you if your results are very far out of range, however, even slightly off can cause many symptoms. You are entitled to copies of medical records, and good information is available on the internet regarding normal ranges."

For Supraventricular Tachycardia "I am fed up with this drug. I was prescribed it at 2.5 mg in April 2023 after an episode of SVT that resulted in hospitalization. I have suffered so many side effects - tired, dizzy, headaches, and body aches, particularly nasty left leg pains and stiffness. As a consequence, my dose has been reduced to 1.75 mg. But I am still suffering side effects - tiredness and now very itchy skin. I have had a few incidents of arrhythmia and high heartbeats since taking it at the lower dose too."

For Supraventricular Tachycardia "Acute illness went into SVT - Initially given 2.5 mg daily, which was increased to 5 mg, then 7.5 mg to control episodes. Things seemed to settle down, and I was discharged home. Took 7.5 mg daily for 16 days, then was rushed back into the hospital with what I thought was major heart issues. I suffered the worst panic attack I have ever had: shaking, palpitations, crying, pacing, nausea, vomiting, the list goes on. It lasted over 12 hours. Eventually settled after other medications were given, and bisoprolol was stopped. I have had a few breakthrough episodes, which are getting milder now (fingers crossed). Reading some blogs, I am wondering if it is actually the bisoprolol that has caused this event, as I have never suffered from anything like this before."

For High Blood Pressure "Not really sure how much this is helping me. Heart disease, STEMI heart attack... 99% blockage, 2 days on the bathroom floor, thought it was food poisoning but turned out way worse. Have moderate tissue damage and now have recurrent palpitations, so trying to get it all squared away. Was on many different types of beta blockers, so many that my HR was low 30s."

For High Blood Pressure "Terrible experience. Within ninety minutes of taking a 2 mg dose, severe palpitations and pain around the left pectoral and left shoulder. Significant discomfort lasted for around four hours. Stopped taking completely after two days. Previously on Metoprolol 50 mg daily, with no similar adverse effects, other than cold feet and hands after 6 weeks of medication. Male, 55 to 60 years."

For Mitral Valve Prolapse "My history is bicuspid aortic valve replaced and grafted aortic root. Was on sotalol for 20 years (it was mostly an antiarrhythmic with some beta-blocking qualities)... but then they stopped making it. Cardiac doc switched me to bisoprolol 5mg daily. One year later: arrhythmia with a vengeance since going on this. Have also been taking magnesium citrate 150mg daily as per doc. Not liking the constant funny heartbeats and how tired I am in the afternoon. Going to see him soon to see if metoprolol might be a better alternative to this."

For High Blood Pressure "A dangerous drug. It's supposed to help with palpitations, but it actually gave me worse arrhythmias and breathlessness that led me to the ER. It also causes severe anxiety when trying to wean off it. Don't let your doctor prescribe you this rubbish as there are better alternatives out there."
