For Asthma, Maintenance "I was on Qvar for several years, and my asthma was well under control until using the RediHaler. I started wheezing much more during the day and waking up and having to use my Proventil inhaler at night. I was suspicious that it was the inhaler and then noticed that when I was using it, it would release the medication when I CLOSED the lid. I was not getting any of the medication for almost 2 weeks. I took the inhaler into my pharmacy, and they called Teva while I waited. They were told to give me a new inhaler and to send the one I had been using back to them for 'testing.' I immediately contacted the FDA. Very easy to do online, and I heard back from them the next day asking for more information on the product. I encourage anyone who has problems with this inhaler to do the same. It could really be a matter of life or death for some."

For Asthma, Maintenance "The new one, Qvar RediHaler, doesn't work properly, it quits working halfway through. A lot of the time, it sprays after the fact. I am having trouble breathing due to this not working correctly. I am going to my pharmacist and my doctor to have them change to something that will work. Get your expensive drug off the market, recall this before you end up with a lawsuit."

For Asthma, Maintenance "I was using the old Qvar aerosol inhaler and doing very well on it. Since switching to the new RediHaler, I am back to wheezing and coughing up phlegm. It is very hard to sleep at night. When I started on the new RediHaler, things were fine until the inhaler was about half used. Then I felt like I was not getting any medication from the inhaler. Usually, I taste the medication when I exhale after a treatment, but I stopped getting that feeling. That's when my asthma symptoms came back. I tried blowing down into the inhaler to see if anything came out. All that came out the mouthpiece was my breath. While I'm relieved that it isn't my asthma getting worse, I am angry that Teva has a defective product out there and they don't seem to care."

For Asthma, Maintenance "I’ve tried using Qvar on 3 separate occasions, each time I use it, it causes asthma symptoms (wheezing, shortness of breath), which means I have to take my rescue inhaler or albuterol right after taking Qvar. I refuse to take this medicine again! Does more harm than good!!"

For Asthma, Maintenance "I've been on Qvar 80 mcg for a long while - years - with no issues and good asthma control. Swapped to Qvar RediHaler last month because the conventional propelled Qvar was no longer available. Same dose, 80 mcg. Same general method of taking, fully exhaling beforehand, then inhaling deeply and holding breath - just no shaking of inhaler and no pushing down to actuate. Only now it seems to wear off much faster, so that I feel the need to take my next dose a couple of hours before it's due (I don't take it early, but I feel very wheezy). In the past, I sometimes forgot my second dose because I didn't feel like I needed it. My pulmonologist says there's been no adverse changes in my lung health to explain this. And the medication and dose haven't changed. So it makes no sense to me that I'd be fully controlled on one, poorly controlled on the other."

For Asthma, Maintenance "I started using the new Qvar RediHaler inhaler in December 2018 and had issues almost from the start. I’m happy to see that others have as well because my pharmacy made me feel as if the fault was mine. I know the RediHaler is ineffective because I had an old inhaler that had 100 puffs left on it, so in March, after many calls to the company (and they did graciously replace the inhalers a couple of times at their expense, but to no avail), I finished out my old inhaler, and I was fine during that time. Now that I’m back on the new inhaler, I’m wheezing again, and I’m very unhappy. Anyone who suffers from asthma knows all too well how frightening it is to not get relief from a trusted medication. This once effective, expensive medication (I pay out of pocket) is no longer doing its job! Please find a way to return to the original dispenser without compromising the quality of the medication."

For Asthma, Maintenance "This new RediHaler design did NOT work at all. I started thinking that something else was wrong with me. I asked primary for a different script, and fortunately for me, he obliged. Sorry, but my asthma symptoms were way out of control using Qvar."

For Asthma, Maintenance "Qvar has worked very well for 7 years, but when they changed the canister from 100 puffs to 120, I find I start getting shortness of breath when the inhaler goes into the red. I used to get 4 inhalers from Kaiser, now I get 3, and I pay more money. So now I quit using an inhaler when it turns red. The reason I'm writing this review is I used it this morning, it was down to 8 puffs, and I got shortness of breath. I can't afford this med anymore. Dr. says if it starts turning over when you put it in a bowl of cold water, it's out before they put a counter on it."

For Asthma, Maintenance "The RediHaler does not dispense a full 200 inhalations. I have found month after month that when the inhalations get down to the 25 inhalations range, it does not dispense a full inhalation. I have the same breathing and withdrawal symptoms month after month. Pharmacy will not refill before the full 200 inhalations are prescribed or used. The manufacturer needs to fix this problem."
