For ADHD "I'm 30 and have taken several types of ADD medications since I was young. I stopped taking Adderall/Ritalin when I graduated from college (about 25 years old) because I did not like the side effect, particularly loss of appetite and jitteriness. I have since had to get back on meds because I have a sales job, and I was making mistakes at work. I started on 25 mg a couple of months back, and it worked great at first, but has tapered off some. I wasn't sure if it was still working, but at night when the morning pill wears off, I can't get anything done, and I'm super scatterbrained. That tells me it is working. I should probably take the doctor-recommended evening dose, as well. Only complaint on side effects would be extreme sleep spells."

For ADHD "Side effects are nausea, inability to eat, dry mouth. However, as a grad student, this is an excellent medicine to take for focusing on studying and exams. However, when I am in the clinic, I do not take it."

For ADHD "Recovering addict, difficult time with focus and motivation - have bipolar. On Lamictal, Risperdal, and Celexa. Was on Ritalin extended release, stopped as it was too much even on a low dose. Due to addiction history, asked about a non-stimulant to help with focus and motivation. Dr. put on 30 mg of Strattera. 1st day was a nightmare. Had depersonalization effects and felt completely out of it 2 hours after the 1st dose. Was nauseated, lost appetite, and just felt scared. Focus was great, but the side effects were overly focused on causing horrific feelings. Took 2 mg Ativan and it didn't help. Finally took PM medication of the Risperdal and was able to sleep. Flushed the medication. The morning after, on the way to work, face and ears feel like they are on fire and still feel off. Hopefully, the effects wear off soon, only took 1 30 mg. Dr. informed if any bad side effects to stop ASAP, and that's what happened. It was a horrible experience, and for a non-stimulant medication, this was worse than any stimulant."

For ADHD "This medication did not really work for me at all. It gave me massive side effects such as worsened depression, as well as significantly reduced appetite. The benefits to ADHD were minimal and are far inferior to that of stimulants. I would not recommend this as a first-line treatment for ADHD, stimulants are just overall more effective and have fewer side effects."

For ADHD "This medication sucks. I took 20 mg Adderall XR, which worked wonderfully for my ADHD, for a month, but had to get off of it because I have Tourette Syndrome, and Adderall aggravated my tics. My physician then put me on Strattera. It is extremely expensive since it is patented until May 2017, and I was given a sample 6-week starter titration pack (from 25 mg to 80 mg). I took a 25 mg capsule last night around 7 PM, and an hour later, I was nauseous and lost my appetite, and I experienced sexual dysfunction (it took over an hour to reach a burning, painful orgasm). The next day (today), I am constipated and depressed. I'd recommend clonidine or guanfacine before trying this garbage for ADHD."

For ADHD "30-60 currently 80 mg... 4 weeks in? Mental effects: I am very paranoid. I had suicidal uncharacteristic thinking, experience anxiety, and very low frustration tolerance for anything. I trust almost no one. However, my explosive temper and impulsiveness seem to be almost nonexistent, better described as sedated. My intrusive thoughts are calming but in an eerily quiet way. Definitely calmer, but many apps open in my head and none will close then. My hyperfocus is now like an intermittent hyperfocus, which is very annoying. Zero creativity, reflecting on my life before medication, leads to depression and very low self-esteem, which has gotten pretty bad. Physical effects: seriously debilitating nausea (TAKE THESE PILLS WITH FOOD ALWAYS). I have obtained what appears to be a bladder infection, but I believe these are something to do with this medication. Slow urinating, sore testicles, abnormal bowel movements. I have appetite loss, taste loss, vision has gotten worse... I don't recommend."

For ADHD "I am 57; on my birthday last year, 2024, I decided to get myself tested. I chose Strattera because it had worked for my son when he was a teenager. I began with 10 mg... yes 10...and within 2 days I felt like a completely different human! I stayed on that for a few months, then went to 18 mg. Then I decided to try 25 mg... it gave me terrible bradycardia... I was having a heart rate of 33-35 beats per minute while I was sleeping. My brain kept trying to wake me up. I discovered what was happening by the data collection on my Apple Watch. I immediately went back down to 18, after only 3 days of the 25 mg. Went to the doctor, told him about it. He sent me to a cardiologist, who immediately dismissed me that it was the Strattera that did that. Bless her. I feel amazing, but I am melting away. I have lost 13 pounds in 7 months, and I have no appetite. I am having every weird side effect, but it has changed my life."

For ADHD "I took my first dose about 3 hours ago. I'm on 40 mg and feel like I need to toilet all the time, and my legs are like jelly and keep sweating. My appetite is not there either. I'm going to force something down me now."

For ADHD "80 mg enables me to concentrate. I take it at bedtime. I have noticed a change in appetite, but that's good for me because I am overweight. I do have dry mouth a lot. The doctor is moving me up to 120 mg. So we will see how that works. I am able to get more done while on this medicine."
