Amoxil (amoxicillin) for Bacterial Infection "Had my wisdom tooth pulled, and I'm hard-headed and hate all medications, and ended up with a sinus infection, and it was painful. Finally took my prescribed medication of Amoxil, and I felt it working 17 hours later. First time I finished all of my medication."

For Dental Abscess "Been on this medication for 3 and a half days with absolutely no relief, only pain continuing into the ear and below cheekbone to neck with a little lymph node and yeast. I'm tempted to quit, but I'm trying to see if I'll get any positive result."

For Dental Abscess "6months ago, I went to Dentist in regards to my back bottom molar. Took it for 3 days for pain to became manageable. Well it went away until I started eating my celery sticks once more (munch, munch, munch) then again, on amoxicillin, every time my top back molar touches that bad tooth I see birds flying around my head, not robins, but blackbirds, ok not literally. Immense pain, taken max dose of paracetamol, did nothiung! I took ibucalm - got 2 hours sleep but woke, realising my back upper teeth were grinding on the 'PAINFUL TOOTH' at the bottom. I've got panda eyes. Lost 3 lbs, 45mins after soup, the pain goes CRAZY. Once I had a slice of bread and I nearly went to war on myself when I chewed on the back tooth. I'm in agony, sometimes I want to cry, other times I want to smash things up and when I've taken ibucalm, I get to watch a bit of TV. My poor tummy isn't used to this starvation. My weight scales however, are delighted. Wishing HEALING on everyone. I know Day 5, I should feel a human again."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I am 87 and was one of the first to use penicillin for strep throat. Still today, in any format, best for me. All other antibiotics cause severe constipation for me. At this very moment, writing this, I am suffering because they gave me a different antibiotic for a UTI infection. It will never happen again, believe me."

For Bacterial Infection "I've been prescribed amoxicillin many times for many different infections. Most recently, for strep throat. I'm on day 2 of my 10-day treatment, and I've never had a problem with side effects other than a little drowsiness. Works like a charm any time I have strep, an ear infection, or UTI. Just wish I could still get it in liquid form as an adult!"

For Dental Abscess "Dentist prescribed amoxicillin on the same day of tooth extractions. On my 5th day of 500 mg x four times a day = 2000 mg in a 24 hr period. I have no idea if it's working or not but after reading the reviews of no results I recommend that if you have not seen any positive results OR you experience negative results that you should question the quality control of the manufacturer, because if the manufacturer cuts corners in the production line then you are more likely to experience negative results from the result of poor quality than you are from the drug. Amoxicillin works IF it's manufactured properly. Stay away from the generic form manufactured by Aurobindo pharm. It will be marked with A45 pink & blue capsule."

For Dental Abscess "Got put on amoxicillin liquid suspension for 5 days to clear up a dental abscess whole right side of face is swollen after 5 days the swelling is the same no results at all. Lost 3 days money so far cause I'm missing work due to the pain have booked another dentist appointment for the morning to hopefully get put on some stronger antibiotics or get something done to this horrible abscess never felt so run down in my life. I have a toddler and I would gladly choose the pain over having more children then having this dental pain ."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I'm on Day 5 out of 7 and am calling it quits and try a different one tomorrow. The side effects hit me all at once on day 3. I got extreme exhaustion and muscle weakness. I couldn't even lift my arms without feeling exhausted. I got really irritable and extreme mood swings (yelling, crying). I got heart palipitations and extreme anxiety/paranoia. Strange rubber feeling in mouth, weird thoughts. On day 4 I started hallucinating a bit (nothing extreme but it was terrifying). Every muscle in my body aches. Oh and I checked to see if my infection improved with an at home test and it's still there! I quit, this is honestly the worst drug I have ever had in my life and didn't do anything. I can't wait for this to wear off."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was on a 5-day treatment for a urinary tract infection and was taking it 3 times a day, 500 mg. It did not treat it completely. It stopped the urge to pee every five mins and stopped the lower belly pain, but I still had the pain at the end after I would pee, and I still had bad back pain, so back to the doc I go."

For Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "I was prescribed Amoxil after a nasty bacterial infection in my tonsils. I had tried the Z-Pak in the past, but it gave me bad side effects, so we switched to the amoxicillin. It started working within 24 hours for me. I had experienced slight diarrhea in the past with this antibiotic, but my doctor gave me Align Probiotic Supplements to replace the good bacteria that antibiotics tend to destroy along with the bad bacteria, which is what causes the gut problems. Worked amazing! No diarrhea! The amoxicillin does make me feel a bit sleepy. I napped a lot the first few days. Also, the 10-day dosage is a lot to remember, but hey, it worked great, and I am much better now."

For Bacterial Infection "My oral surgeon prescribed amoxicillin 500 mg three times daily for 7 days for an infected wisdom tooth prior to the surgical extraction of four impacted wisdom teeth. After two days on the antibiotic, symptoms associated with the infected tooth began to subside (i.e., decreased inflammation, pain relief). Prior to that, I couldn't sleep without Orajel, 800 mg of ibuprofen, and 50 mg of diphenhydramine. I experienced minor digestive side effects (e.g., minor abdominal pain and 2-3 episodes of loose stool) after a few days on the medication; however, the medication was well tolerated overall, and the relief was much appreciated."

For Bacterial Infection "I just wanted to point out that it's important to take as prescribed by the doctor. The common cold is caused by a virus, so that is why your doctor doesn't want to give you antibiotics unless it progresses into a bacterial infection. You don't want to take antibiotics unless you have to. And you don't want to take them continually for more than 7-10 days or for too short of a time. Bacteria become immune to antibiotics and can become stronger, where your body can't fight them in the future. They are needed in bacterial infections quite often, but don't just take any antibiotics for the hell of it or without a lot of research, as they aren't good for you overall."

For Dental Abscess "I was prescribed Amoxil for a severe tooth infection. 1000 mg one in the morning and one in the evening. My jaw, cheek, and gum were still swollen in the first 3 days, as well as it was really painful. Then on the 4th day, the swelling had subsided, but the gum was still swollen. My dentist did a root canal on the 5th day with a swollen gum, then I continued taking this med for another 4 days. It got rid of the tooth infection completely, but it is very slow. If you have a tooth infection, this med usually works slowly on it, and you have to hit high doses to help fight the infection. And yes, it left a very bad yeast infection at the end, which grew to be a 'candida overgrowth symptom'-too much yeast in your gut, and I am still trying to get rid of it with antifungals, a low sugar and carb diet, and probiotics. I don't know why I got that yeast since I ate tons of probiotic yogurts while on prescription and immediately started probiotics after the treatment and still continue to take."

For Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "It's great for sore throats. I get a throat infection (severe infection to a point I can't swallow) every time I get a fever, and this medicine is great because it clears my severe throat infection in 3 days or less."

For Chlamydia Infection "I had read online that the US CDC recommends this as an alternative antibiotic for Chlymidia Infection. two 500mg every 8 hours or 3x day for 7 days. Yes, you will probably get some diarrhea like I did, but if you don't treat it the alternative is damage to reproductive system and women becoming infertile. So when you forgot to use protection and your partner gives you a gift, you need to take your medicine."

Amoxil (amoxicillin) for Pneumonia "I have bacterial pneumonia with 2 spots on my lungs after the flu. Not much nasal involvement. Bad headache, body ache, fever, and chills. Deep dry cough. Started Levaquin by IV at the ER, but within an hour I got hives on my mouth and neck and felt slightly itchy all over, then 3 bouts of projectile vomiting. Then tried Clindamycin but developed hives after 2 days. Both meds helped me feel better, and my headache and fever went away. Now on Amoxicillin-Clav 875, twice a day. Symptoms are very slowly improving. Only a bit of loose stool. Probiotics and a bland diet help."

For Dental Abscess "Amoxicillan has been a life save for tooth infections for me personally. Though it needs to be paired with some type of pain reliever to mitigate the pain since you cannot drink alcohol ( which besides pain meds is the only thing that lessens a tooth ache) and for a tooth ache advil doesnt cut it you need Vicaden, Norco or Percaset ..sadly so many drug addicts have made being prescribed any of the above listed pain meds a rare occurrence."

For Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis "I was prescribed amoxicillin 1000 mg tablets to be taken twice daily after meals for acute pharyngitis in my throat. The infection started out on my tonsils and I was initially prescribed a betadine spray. Used the spray every four hours for two weeks with no real effect. Went back to the ENT and was told the infection had moved further down my throat. I’m on my fifth day of a ten day dose of amoxicillin and it’s feeling better finally. I should also mention that I had 35 radiation doses and two chemo infusions a few months ago for base of tongue cancer. The cancer is in remission but my throat is still damaged but slowly healing from the radiation. The ENT doc mentioned that I was more susceptible to infections due to the radiation treatment. I get my throat scoped by an ENT doc every 30 days to monitor healing and make sure the cancer isn’t returning."

For Bacterial Infection "I started taking Amoxicillin for an inner ear infection. It knocked the pain and tenderness out pretty quickly, but after just a couple of days of taking it, I started having trouble breathing. No matter how many times I yawn or try to take a deep breath, it doesn't work. It's like I can't get enough oxygen. It's been frustrating feeling like I can't catch my breath and has made it difficult to get to sleep. But at least my ear infection is better!"

For Dental Abscess "My teeth have cracked roots, which is a very painful condition. The tooth literally starts to 'die,' and wow, is it painful. And can make you very sick. Months before you even know you have a cracked root tooth! I had to have two teeth pulled due to this problem. The roots broke off in the 'pulls,' so oral surgery was necessary. I have been on amoxicillin for 2 weeks now. Because I was taking only 2 pills at 500 mg a day, it wasn't working. It wasn't until I doubled the dosage that the antibiotic started to work. It's hard on your stomach, but it does work."

For Middle Ear Infections "I had ears infection and fever twice in Dec. I took amoxicillin two times antibiotics. I think my ear infection did not clear up. I started to have lots of imbalance pressure in my ears. I felt fluid in my middle ears for more than two weeks, which is very annoying. I have been taking Amoxicillin for the fourth days. I still feel the fluid inside my middle ears. My hearing is back no more pain but I sometimes feel itchy inside my ears. I am so worry, how can I get rid the fluid... help!"
