For Sinusitis "Last Saturday (Jan 30, 2017), I started taking this medicine. First dose was at 12 p.m., and then at 8 p.m. By Sunday morning, I was feeling nauseous. I took my three doses that day because the sick feeling was just on and off, so I attributed the sickness to one of the meals. By 10 p.m. Sunday, I was so nauseous I went to sleep. It was the worst night ever. I threw up so much and so many times, it felt like even my soul almost went down the toilet. Next day (Monday 1/1/18), I was convinced it was the medicine, so I didn't take it. I was nauseous all day, sipping on water hoping it wouldn't come up. By Tuesday morning, I felt better and was able to start eating again. I will never in my life take this medicine again."

For Bacterial Infection "Well, I was given a steroid shot, and this prescription: it made everything worse! I had dizziness, back, neck, and shoulder pain, slight nausea, diarrhea, red cheeks, made my face feel sore, barely slept through the night, and I stopped after 3 days. This is one medicine I cannot take again!"

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Urinary Tract Infection "Ok. I thought I could alleviate the absolutely horrible side effects associated with this medication by avoiding the adverse drug interactions and making sure I took each dose on a full stomach, but no. This antibiotic is awful. The debilitating side effects that I have experienced beginning on Day 4 are unrelenting nausea, headache, and body aches. I can work and function with the flu, but this is worse than the flu. This is my third time attempting to take this medicine. I’ll never try it again. Avoid at all costs!"

For Strep Throat "Dr. thought I had strep just by looking at my throat and felt like I was swallowing glass, so I got 500 mg amoxicillin 3x/day. Within 24 hrs, I could swallow again and fever went away. However, I am now on day 5 of this medication and have pretty bad nausea, a raging yeast infection, and frequent loose stools, and the abdominal cramps are pretty bad. If you're on this, start taking a probiotic or yogurt immediately! I'm not playing around!"

For Bacterial Infection "Chest cold with post-nasal drip for 3 weeks. Been on meds for 4 out of 10 days, 875 mg horse pills. Pros: no sinus pressure, cough lessened, voice back, no chest rattling, and can sleep through the night. Cons: HUGE pill, slow to resolve coughing. Side effects: gas cramps followed by diarrhea in the beginning (but tolerable, like various foods or excess protein does), makes me feel even more drained, frequent urination, mild lower cramps. Method: one mid-morning after a meal but with food and water. No dairy. One late evening after supper with bread and water. I think the key for me is a solid meal prior with no dairy, and bread helps. I think if it dissolves before the food, then that's where the gastric issues and nausea come from."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Bacterial Infection "Within a few hours of taking my first dose, I felt like garbage. I was extremely nauseous and out of it, almost dizzy. I have a deadly fear of puking, so I stopped taking it right after the first dose. I would never take this again because of the awful side effects. If you deal with nausea and diarrhea well, then you should stick to it, but personally, I could not put myself through it any longer."

For Sinusitis "I have 1-2 chronic sinus infections a year, and this time I was given Augmentin the first time, and let me tell ya. I'm on the 2nd day, and after the 2nd dose, I woke up with my sinus headache basically gone, and it was so bad the day before. Only have clogged ears right now. No side effects besides a little bit of stomach pain, but so tolerable, no nauseousness at all."

For Bacterial Infection "This medicine was given to me for a bacterial infection that I had from an abscess on my butt. It did help rid the infection, but I had almost every possible side effect that comes with this medicine. I had a loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting whenever I would try to eat or right after and whenever I would attempt to take another pill. I also had crazy thoughts or hallucinations, not sure what was going on. I couldn't sleep, couldn't stand for longer than a few seconds without getting dizzy. I almost passed out in the shower every day. I had really bad fevers that would go back and forth all day. I could go on, but I'll be here all day. I was told to stop taking it once I developed a bad diaper rash. It works, but it may not be worth all the side effects."

For Strep Throat "Worst experience I have ever had with any medicine. I was prescribed this for strep throat. On the first day I was fine, but by the second day I was so extremely nauseous that I couldn't even stand up. Had some, but not a lot of diarrhea. I continued to take it because I thought it was just from where I was sick. Today is the fourth day, I woke up and felt not myself. I explained to my husband it felt like I had taken some hard drugs and was having a bad high. I was feeling so sick and lightheaded, I vomited multiple times today and had diarrhea. I have decided to quit taking this medicine. It's Christmas Eve, and I can't feel like this in the morning. Hope I don't, anyways! Never taking this again, especially after reading similar stories!"

For Sinusitis "I’m on day 3 of 5 Amox Clav 875 125. I have a terrible sinus infection. Day one, my stomach felt a little nauseous. The next day, I had diarrhea, it lasted the day. I ate some bananas and drank a yogurt smoothie, and it seemed to help. I think the stomach upset and diarrhea was just my body adjusting to the antibiotics. Today is day 3, and my stomach is calm, but I do feel really tired and low energy. My sinuses are not so clogged, I can breathe a lot better, so the medication seems to be working. I would recommend it for sinus infection because I know how stuffy and miserable I felt, and I would definitely deal with the side effects to be better. I’m going to continue to take my 5-day course."

For Sinusitis "It seems to help, but I had a side effect that was unexpected, and before I say this, I am being totally for real about it. I had the normal side effect of nausea, but then a strange one. I became aroused and turned on very easily. This is not a normal thing for me either. Not that I am complaining, just think it's weird. Anyone else have this happen?"

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Middle Ear Infections "So far, it's slowly working for my ear infection. The pain has lessened but I still have mild pain. I'm on my 4th day. Hopefully, in 6 days, the ear will be completely healed. There are some minor side effects I have noticed, particularly some joint pain, but it is not bad and mild. Maybe a little nausea in my stomach too, but very mild. I'm just happy my pain has lessened in the ears. I took the Augmentin generic for Amoxicillin/Clavulanic acid 875 mg twice daily for 10 days."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "I am writing this so anyone going through the same thing is prepared. Started with a cough 03/25. Turned into a sinus infection on 04/06. Started Augmentin (Amox/clav) on 04/07. Felt nausea/dizzy. Didn’t drink enough water, so felt sick - drink 8 glasses or more, no joke, eat a full meal and snack on crackers, etc., thought out the day 4/8 hours after taking. 04/08: Diarrhea, dizzy, foggy brain. Coughing up phlegm for hours after taking, and just horrible dizzy, mentally tough, felt like a heart attack but started to improve after drinking lots of water/crackers and fruits. 04/09: Started kefir/yogurt for breakfast and one shot of kefir mid-day. Helped diarrhea and made tummy better. All night up coughing phlegm and draining nose. Be prepared to be up all night clearing phlegm - SVT attack heart rate 180/230 rubbed neck in a circular motion - coughed-held breath and broke SVT attack. Don’t do decongestion meds, will cause attack with amox/clav 04/10. 04/12: Working just fuzzy brain and anxious, almost better."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "I suffer from fibromyalgia and arthritis, so am already on a regimen of meds. I developed a severe sinus problem after oral surgery, which opened into my sinus cavities. Nothing, including sinus surgery and carefully chosen antibiotics, kicked it. I lost my sense of smell and taste. My doctor and I decided to try with Augmentin 875-2x/day. I was warned. I take a super probiotic between doses and eat yogurt. I am also eating a good amount of mild, healthy food. Nausea-yes, but no vomiting. Rough diarrhea that is less urgent after 8 days. Much fatigue, but I am used to that. I am halfway through a 21-day prescription and can now taste and smell (that began with a strange tinge that has gone away) and feel less drained from infection. No yeast issues, but being vigilant just the same. I still have 10 days to go and, although used to feeling lousy anyway, I can feel the absence of the rampant sinus issues. No more throat glop or constant heavy nose-blowing."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Middle Ear Infections "Was prescribed a 10-day course of Augmentin for an ear infection and bronchitis, and by day three had diarrhea, a severe headache, and nausea. Started probiotics, and that helped a little. Now, after being off of it for one day, I have developed a yeast infection. The meds did help the infection, but I felt like I was going to die in the meantime. I will never take this med again."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "Took this for 10 days after a cat bite got infected. Noticed hyperactivity during the course, but it was two days after I finished the course that the real fun started - fatigue, head fog, inability to do anything, weight loss (three kg in four days!), really bad insomnia (unable to sleep until 5 am), unable to stomach anything except carbs. After a week of this, the nausea started, so that I couldn't eat anything without debilitating nausea. Headaches too. Am still in it after two weeks. Treating myself with ginger tea for nausea, slippery elm, probiotics, dandelion leaf and root for liver, lemon water, vegetable juices. I will never take this again."

For Bacterial Infection "I took the medication for a sinusitis infection twice a day as directed by my doctor. On the morning of the fourth day, I woke up to vomiting and diarrhea. Over the next day and a half, I continued to vomit and run to the bathroom for diarrhea about once every hour or two... Pure hell. The worst part about it was the nausea... kind of like a bad trip where I was constantly very, very stressed out. It has now been six days, and the nausea has not completely gone away. It is very scary how antibiotics can affect us physically and mentally. My doctor did prescribe a medication for the nausea that I take every eight hours, and that does help a lot."

For Strep Throat "I've been taking this drug for possible strep throat. Since I started taking it, I've had extreme nausea, vomiting, dizziness, heartburn, chest pains, joint pain, pounding headache, insomnia, confusion, and loss of appetite. I don't know if I'm having problems because I'm young (16), but I don't plan on ever taking this drug again."

For Bacterial Infection "The absolute worst! After taking the first dose, within 30 min I had terrible diarrhea and stomach rumbling. Two hours later, I was vomiting and have had the worst nausea ever since. It also gave me the worst anxiety and insomnia. Needless to say, I did not bother to take the second dose."

For Sinusitis "I took this medicine after being prescribed for a persistent infection. After a quick nap, I became hot, sweaty, and jittery and began to vomit endlessly. I vomited so hard that I saw blood and had to go to the hospital. I was diagnosed with food poisoning and popped blood vessels in my stomach (even though they knew I was on the meds), given an IV and anti-nausea meds. It took me days to get back to normal, and since my infection is still persistent, I thought it was a good time to try taking the pills again. Big mistake. Woke up 2 hours later vomiting, like a nightmare. Luckily, I had some anti-nausea medicine leftover and could keep it down enough to not make a hospital visit at midnight. Horrible, horrible experience."

For Sinusitis "Within 24 hrs of starting this medication, I felt like I had the flu. I was pukey, and my entire body ached so bad. I stopped it immediately. I much rather deal with the sinus pain. I am now waiting to get it out of my system. Hopefully, my body aches stop soon. Be careful before starting this medication."

For Strep Throat "Had a fever about 38 degrees Celsius, really painful sore throat with excruciating joint and muscle pain for two days, was only on paracetamol, two tablets six hourly because I could not even swallow my saliva or walk to the bathroom. Private GP started me on it, and on day two, I could already eat and move around the house. I only had mild stomach pain and increased bowel movement instead of once daily, it is three times, plus slight nausea. Today I am on the third day and am feeling much better."

For Bacterial Infection "I took one amoxicillin with clavulanate pill, and my stomach started having severe pain, severe nausea, and my skin felt very hot. It also upped my anxiety to a whole extreme. My doctor is just putting me on plain old amoxicillin. Thank goodness. 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND."

For Sinusitis "I was prescribed this for 10 days for an ear infection. My first 2 days, I just felt nauseous, but I ate a heavy meal and noticed that did help. BUT for the past 3 days, I've been having severe headaches, and I still have 5 days to go. I think I'm going to stop the medicine, it's not worth the pain! My ear does feel better, though!"

For Sinusitis "I had a severe sinus infection. And although I needed an antibiotic to get rid of the infection, this is the worst antibiotic I have ever taken! I was prescribed 20 tablets - 10 days, 2 a day. On about day 7, I started having horrible stomach pains, both upper and lower, and felt absolutely nauseated, with little strength due to the nausea. I had never seen a mixture of amoxicillin and potassium together. Something seems terribly wrong with this script. I was always good with just plain antibiotic 'amoxicillin'. What's going on here? Drug companies trying to poison us? Because that is what it feels like. I'm glad I'm done with the prescription and will know better next time. BTW, a friend went through the same thing. Coincidence? Nahhh!"
