Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Skin and Structure Infection "My neighbor's cat scratched and bit me. At first, I thought I sprained my wrist doing something, but when my wrist was red like a lobster, swelling in pain and pus draining from the bite, I knew it was due to the cat bite. Went to the ER, they said I had cellulitis. They gave me an IV of this, then prescribed it for ten days. Started to work immediately. I had mild diarrhea for the first three days, felt nauseous and very groggy, trouble thinking clearly. I still have dark urine, but my wrist is just about completely healed. I'm on day six, four more days to go. Then I'm done. Regular amoxicillin made me feel weird but didn't give me much side effects, however, I was prescribed amoxicillin for abscessed teeth."

For Bacterial Infection "I've taken amoxicillin with clavulanate twice and love this drug, it's stronger than plain amoxicillin, so the first pill always comes on a bit strong. I've used this for jaw infections from bad teeth, for an ear infection that I got from strep throat. Also, in the past, I had taken an awful drug called Cipro, I was crippled for months, couldn't walk, lost my job, etc. If you're okay with penicillin, this drug is a godsend. I eat yogurt and a full stomach when I take it, and I never have any problems other than getting thirsty often and I don't exercise on it, it makes me nauseous, and I have no problems working while taking it even though my job is physical labor. I'm a 29-year-old male, by the way."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "Monday morning, I went to my doctor, and she diagnosed me with sinusitis and prescribed me Augmentin. I took my first dose at around 11 a.m. Four hours later, I was feeling terribly nauseous with awful cramps. Though the medication had helped subside the pain in my head, there was a newfound pain in my stomach. I stopped taking the medication on Wednesday because the stomach pains were unbearable. In my experience, this medication helped get rid of my sinus infection, but now I am suffering through daily nausea and cramps, and I have been off the antibiotics for two days."

For Middle Ear Infections "I took Augmentin 875 mg twice a day for a really bad ear infection. It worked very quickly to resolve the inner ear pain from the infection after 24 hours or 3 doses. Yes, it made me very nauseous because I forgot to eat food with it, but once I took some Zofran-ODT 8 mg along with some food, I felt no more nausea. Also, highly recommend taking a probiotic to prevent intestinal issues (read: diarrhea and gas). I have taken Augmentin in the past for a sinus infection, and it worked very well then too. I am sorry that some people did not gain relief from Augmentin, but I hope these individuals were able to see their physicians to get a different antibiotic for their infection that worked better for them."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Bacterial Infection "ER doctor prescribed this 2x/day for 10 days for colitis, believed to be caused by a bacteria. The only side effects I've experienced are nausea, with the first two doses. Otherwise, no other issues. Three days down, seven more to go..."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "Took one dose of Augmentin 875 mg for a sinus infection. Stomach pain, nausea, sweats, insomnia, dizziness just from one dose. This was taken over 12 hours ago and still feeling bad. Will not take again. Contacted doctor for a new prescription."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Bacterial Infection "I started Augmentin on Thursday morning because I had typhoid. My doctor insisted it would clear it and make me feel better. Since Thursday, I have experienced extreme diarrhea, nausea, and body pains. I wake up 8-10 times during the night to vomit and stool. Both happen simultaneously, and as of this morning, on the fourth day, I feel like I might never get better. I am going to stop it. I have no more strength to even puke or sit up. I can't lie on my belly or back either, and my two sides are aching seriously due to the constant support."

For Sinusitis "Pro: Got relief from a bad sinus infection within one day. Cons: Supremely hard on my stomach and energy level. If I was not nauseous, I had severe stomach pains and chest dagger-like pangs. Also had the sweats. And yes, all this even after taking probiotics and with food."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Kidney Infections "So... I was so scared to take these tablets after reading the reviews. I have Crohn's disease and a very sensitive stomach, but I had a water infection for 3 weeks, which then traveled to my kidneys and made my pancreas swell, so I was prescribed these. First day I took them, I started to feel nausea. I am now on day 5 of these, and the side effects aren't as bad as what I thought. I have a bit of a fuzzy head and feeling nausea and just extremely tired. I have had no sickness or diarrhea. I think the key to this is I eat before I take the tablets, and I make sure to eat some yogurt about an hour after taking them, and I've had no problem, and that's coming from a girl who has a very sensitive stomach normally."

For Strep Throat "Personal favorite antibiotic. Taken it many times over the last 8 years. I've never had any harsh side effects, but I always take this medication with a light meal, usually high in carbs. Usually, within 3 to 5 days, all symptoms are gone and you can return to a light version of your routine, but you must finish the medication, otherwise, your symptoms will return far worse. If you are having trouble with nausea from this, Zofran has worked for other medications I've taken in the past, so I'd recommend asking your doctor about it before counting this medication out. I have lupus, so I'm usually on this medication 10 times a year for things like strep throat, tonsillitis, UTIs, upper respiratory infections, and all the other fun winter brings."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Strep Throat "This cleared my throat infection within 2 days and made me feel so much better pretty quickly as far as temperature and discomfort were concerned. However, I did vomit with it and felt nauseous for about an hour and a half after taking it. The diarrhea is still with me on day 4."

For Sinusitis "I have my 5th sinus infection of the year (2017), which caused my eardrum to rupture. My doc prescribed me a 500 mg dose, twice a day. Antibiotics in general upset my stomach and should be taken with food, so I made sure to take it with a large meal. The one time I didn't was in a rush to get on the road for a trip, and I was nauseous the entire ride, but Tums helped a lot. The infection has cleared up quickly, and my ear is draining a lot less fluid out. This has been able to do what four other antibiotics haven't. Take with a full meal, and you will be feeling much better soon!"

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "I was prescribed this to treat my sinus infection. It's been almost two days now, and while I feel slightly better, the nausea and upset stomach are too much for me. I have eaten both yogurt and rice before taking it, and I still get very sick. It is also making everything I eat seem extremely salty. Even when I breathe, I taste salt. I've called my doctor, and they're changing my antibiotic to something else. Apparently, this one is making my potassium levels rise too high."

For Bacterial Infection "This is the 3rd antibiotic I was prescribed, with the one before this being an in-hospital I.V. drip. And so far it’s working, so I couldn’t be any happier. I had a severe infection in my mouth that spread to my jaw and then my neck. I have been getting a couple of the more common, less serious side effects like nauseousness and diarrhea, but I’d rather have side effects than this infection spreading to my bloodstream, which is what I was up against. So for those people looking at the negative comments, just remember that most people will only leave a comment if it is negative, so stay strong and I hope everything works out for you guys!!!"

For Sinusitis "This medication is terrible. It causes me to have very bad headaches while I feel like I'm having migraines, but it's caused by this medicine. I get terrible diarrhea, nausea, and I throw up. I just feel like garbage. I was told this will clear me up and make me feel better, but I feel way worse now. I have been on it for 3 days, and I have now decided to stop. Hopefully, I will feel better when this medicine is out of my system. Much love to all using it."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "I was diagnosed 7 days ago with a sinus and ear infection. I had vertigo, terrible throat pain, exhausted. After about two days of Augmentin, the pain went away, and I started feeling better. I’m no longer dizzy, having throat and sinus pain or draining in my ear. However, I decided to stop 4 days short of my 10-day course because I’m having AWFUL side effects. Worst abdominal pain ever, constipation, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, back, hip, and leg pain. This doesn’t seem normal. Hoping my sinuses and ear are healed enough, or I’ll be back to the doctor for a different medication."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Middle Ear Infections "The side effects of this drug were so awful I now fear antibiotics. It gave me severe headaches, extreme fatigue accompanied by an inability to sleep, nausea, itchy skin. It also affected my mental health. I felt sad and sat crying my eyes out for no obvious reason. Truly horrible experience."

For Bacterial Infection "I have taken this for four days. On day two, I noticed I was extremely agitated. I suspected the antibiotic but didn't look into it. Day three was worse. I began to have thoughts of suicide and hateful thoughts I had never thought before. Today, I stopped taking it after Googling the side effects. Interestingly enough, I didn't have diarrhea or cramping but did have nausea."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "As a sufferer of many sinus and ear infections, I knew with this 90-degree heat in ACs with poor air quality that I was going to get sick. Got sick last Wednesday with sinus issues, got worse, so went to the primary. The doctor said she didn't think I had a sinus or ear infection, so she told me to continue on neti pots and Sudafed 24. She did give me a prescription if I wasn't feeling better by Monday (today). After a weekend of still feeling miserable, I got the prescription. Usually, I get amoxicillin, and when I looked at the script, it had amoxicillin clav, so I didn't think anything of it. I pick up the script. Take the pill on the way to work. Sick within an hour. Googled and found I was given the generic of Augmentin. Never again! Threw up for an hour straight - not worth it!"

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "I was given this by an ER doctor for sinusitis. I took the first dose at the ER then didn't get a chance to fill the prescription for a week. Was still feeling a little bit of ear congestion from sinusitis, so I grabbed it. The first pharmacy dose gave me nonstop diarrhea and severe nausea, like my stomach was going to explode. So now, I drink probiotic yogurt with a full meal. Took it 2 more times, not as bad but constant anxiety. Had to stop, as I felt worse when taking it. Head congestion is pretty much gone, though I just decided to take Mucinex, and I feel like that has helped even though I'm still dealing with it a bit. Never taking it again."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I started this 6 days ago for an infection from a knife cut on my thumb knuckle. It seemed to work, and swelling is down, however, I was advised to stop using it due to the side effects. Severe nausea upon waking, chills, agitation, unable to keep still yet tired, lightheaded and fatigued. The panic attacks and constant catastrophic thinking really made me need to stop this med. I hope it killed the infection because I think I may need a medicated coma for my next round."

For Sinusitis "I started taking Amox-Clav 875 mg for a mild sinus infection that was causing lots of pain in my sinus cavity by my right ear. I'm on day 4, and this is awful on my stomach. Nausea, bad taste in the back of my throat. I'm almost ready to stop taking it, don't know if I can take six more days of this, but the pain by my ear is FINALLY gone."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Strep Throat "This medication did clear up my strep throat within the first couple of days being on it. However, the side effects were horrible. I had watery diarrhea for like 3 days, I always felt nausea after taking it even with food, and I had strong stomach pains. Also, by the 4th day on it, I had a yeast infection."

For Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "Some of these reviews had me worried because I hate side effects, but the throat was so painful I had to try it. Glad I did, I'm now on day 9 of two times daily, and the infection is gone, no pain. No side effects at all. No nausea, no diarrhea, no headaches. Worked well."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "Colds turn into sinus infections pretty easily on me. Yes, I wait a while before I go to the doctor for antibiotics, as most sinus infections are viral. By the time I went to the doc with this one, I was MISERABLE. Hurting down into my jaw even. Within a few hours of taking the first pill, there was relief. I never knew I could have so much disgusting stuff come out of my nose. I always take probiotics (especially while on antibiotics) to decrease GI side effects. TAKE PROBIOTICS. Nausea and diarrhea are possible with any antibiotic."
