"I had this prescribed to me by my dentist following dental extractions and implants. I'll be finishing the 10-day treatment tomorrow; it has been horribly painful in many ways. a) The severe diarrhea was finally dealt with by taking 50 billion probiotics capsules with real plain bacterial-cultured yogurt at each meal. b) For the mind-blowing headaches, I'm still cycling between aspirin, acetaminophen, and ibuprofen, 3 tablets every 6 hours; none work well continuously. c) Other side effects such as dry mouth, itchy nose, and slight burning sensation while urinating are merely a slight distraction compared to the diarrhea and headaches. I wish I had started with another antibiotic. Good luck!"

For Bacterial Infection "It seemed like a high dose to give a short little person like me for diverticulitis, 825/125 every 12 hours for 7 days. Headaches day and night from the beginning. Confusion set in like I've never had! Eyes unfocused. A few nights later, uncontrollable shaking in lower back, then knees, then all over. I was scared, it was the worst night of my life. I had no control over my body. I went back to the ER 8 days later. Bloodwork good, no high white count, and a CAT scan showed nothing unusual. I was dismissed. It's now 2 days later, and I still have pain in left AND right sides of the abdomen and very little appetite. Taking yogurt and fruits, lots of water. Feel a little better tonight. But I will make it a point to never take this drug again, it seems lethal. My mind went out of control for a while, along with my body, and that scared me. I can't rate it right now. I can't say if the infection will stay gone. By the way, it was a HUGE pill."

For Sinusitis "Day one of this medication, I started getting stomach pain. However, by day two, it was gone. Thought I'd gotten lucky. How wrong I was. I managed four days of a seven-day course on this drug. The headache? Man, let me tell you, it was like no other headache I've ever had in my 38 years of life. It felt like a band wrapped around my head, getting tighter and tighter to a point it was making me dizzy and nauseated. I feel more unwell now than I did before starting these antibiotics. I will never ever take them again. If you're prescribed these, all I can say is good luck. You're gonna need it."

For Middle Ear Infections "In a home of 6, 5 of us were prescribed this medication, me and the kids (16, 6 & 4) together and the hubby 4 days earlier, so we pretty much knew what we were getting: headache, sinus pressure, stiff neck, diarrhea and vomiting, exhaustion, stuffed nose, stomach ache, and cramps. Both my daughter and I got our periods early too. I was the one who made it out with the worst pains ever. (Female 46) Still taking it, but will never take it again! Nor will I put my kids through this pain."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Strep Throat "Tried this medication many times in the past, and I have not tolerated it well. Typically, doctors have given it to me for mycoplasma, but this time I was diagnosed with strep throat. Since I did not already have a headache due to the strep throat, I opted to go with Augmentin as recommended by the ENT. I was sure to share my past episodes with the medication, but the ENT assured me headaches were not a side effect. Well, 1 dose into it, my head feels like it weighs 50 lbs, and I am achy all over and feel totally worse. After the second dose, my full-blown headache, where I can't move, is back in full force. And I also can't sleep on it. Never again on this medication!!!"

For Skin and Structure Infection "I was prescribed Augmentin (but was given an MFG Aurobindo substitute Amox/Clav from the pharmacy) for a diagnosis of bacterial infection on the back of my neck. Out of 14 pills, I've taken the third one, and that will be my last one ever! After my first pill, I noticed the extreme headache but thought nothing about it being the side effects from the medicine. It lasted as long as it could last until I finally gave in after 3 hours and went looking for Advil for migraines that I luckily bought that day. The Advil helped lessen and control the headache after 30 minutes. After what I've gone through the week before (depression, the 'infection,' headaches, and cold sores), this medicine was only making my life worse with the extreme throbbing headache (kind of like having someone bang on a sensitive area on the top left of my head). Noticed no other side effects yet, besides the unbearable headache since I'm stopping after my 3rd pill. Will put this name on 'medicines I can't take.'"

For Bacterial Infection "I was prescribed this Amoxicillin with Clavulanate 875 mg for tonsillitis, and on the third day, I woke up and couldn't breathe. I thought my airway was completely cut off. I also had a feeling like something was crawling in my throat. I also couldn't stop coughing, which had me having severe headaches, and I was peeing on myself all day. I had to go to the emergency room, which wasn't any help, I was told my throat looked good. My symptoms lasted two months until a doctor prescribed me prednisone, which helped me stop coughing all day and night and peeing on myself."

For Sinusitis "After getting a sinus infection, I was prescribed this medication. Ate before I took it, and within an hour and a half, had a severe headache, complete nausea with stomach cramping. I was in a horrible mood, fell asleep for an hour with a pillow pulled into my stomach, woke up feeling better. I regret having to use it again, strong medication, major side effects. Here, it works great, so I'll try and get through this. Pray for me."

For Sinusitis "I took this medication for 3 days and stopped immediately. After the 3rd day, I didn’t feel any facial tenderness or pain in my forehead anymore. But the side effects felt deadly to me, I don’t think it was worth going on medication when you can clear up your sinuses on your own. It’s been 5 days after taking the medication, and the pressure in my face and headache came back again. This time I’ll try using my home remedies. It’s not worth it. Terrible experience (maybe because I didn’t take it with a lot of food), but still lol."

For Bacterial Infection "I was given Amox-Clav 875-125 mg for a dog bite. The very next day after intercourse, I had swelling in the labia and was extremely sore and sensitive. Unlike normal swelling from intercourse, these symptoms lasted a week and were followed by white discharge that I had to keep cleaning out of my creases. There was also dead skin shedding on the toilet paper after wiping. Also, a frequency to urinate. At this point, I had not read about possible side effects of taking this medication. After 10 days and taking the entire script, I went back to see the doctor to have the staples removed from the bite, and the doctor prescribed me another week. In this week, I started experiencing new symptoms. It started hurting on the upper part of my injured leg really badly, but not at the bite location, and my legs were swelling. My head started to hurt and didn't stop for three days straight, and my mouth was extremely dry all the time, and I couldn't taste. Still have vaginal itching, swelling, soreness, and frequency to urinate."
