Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "Within 20 hrs (2 doses), I was feeling better. My lungs still hurt when I would cough, but they didn't hurt when I would take a shallow breath. I did get a pretty bad headache that was controlled with APAP. Loose stools developed after day 3. I increased fluids and fiber (ice cold smoothie worked great to fulfill these). Day 6, I was back to normal except for the loose stool. No other complaints. I was also on pearls and codeine during this time. Side effects well worth the benefit after how bad I was hurting."

For Sinusitis "This stuff is supposed to clear up my sinus infection. It may have done that, but it also made me have severe headaches, body aches, weakness, and confusion. I felt like I was trapped in a cloud-like bubble. I'm on day 4, and I feel like quitting, it is making me feel so miserable. I can't get my body temperature right. I'm either too hot or too cold. I feel tired all the time. What is happening to me? I'm glad, not really, but happy to know that I'm not the only one this has happened to. This medicine should not be prescribed anymore. I'm on the 825 mg. Way too strong."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I was prescribed this twice a day for 7 days. I'm halfway through, and I recently developed severe headaches, decreased appetite, decreased urination, and shortness of breath. No diarrhea yet, but I did feel nauseous this morning. I hope not to get diarrhea because I'm trying to heal an anal fissure. I tested negative for some common STDs, so I don't know what I have, but my groin lymph nodes still seem to be swollen. :/"

For Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "Hope my experience helps others. In the past, I used generic Amox/Clav, price was $12 for 10 days. Had harsh side effects, never completing med, stopped after 4 days. Horrid anxiety, nervousness, jittery, bloating, headache, extreme fatigue. I spoke with pharmacist prior to next prescription about harsh side effects. This was Feb 2019, when I went to pick up med, I was told $55. I thought they made a mistake from $12. My med was changed to the original brand, I believe. Instead of the generic orange bottle, med came in a solid white bottle with company label. Med cost me $55 opposed to $12. I took the antibiotic for 10 days, and to my surprise, no side effects. I was in disbelief. I am on antibiotic right now, 4th day, same manufacturer. Thus far, no side effects. So, those of you having major side effects, ask for different pharma manufacturer or brand opposed to generic."

For Strep Throat "It took care of my sinus infection. However, it hasn't done anything, after 8 days, to lessen throat redness and pain. Though, for me, the pain is not severe. Throat feels like it's swollen, but I haven't had much trouble swallowing, but again, this medicine hasn't made it better. I would only recommend this medicine for those with sinus and ear infections. Otherwise, it does nothing for strep throat. So if strep throat is your biggest problem, try and get something else for it. Oh, and my side effect, so far, has been headaches. So I take Advil to deal with that. Whether or not it cancels out the medication, I don't really care, because I'm not living with a harsh headache if I can help it."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Urinary Tract Infection "Ok. I thought I could alleviate the absolutely horrible side effects associated with this medication by avoiding the adverse drug interactions and making sure I took each dose on a full stomach, but no. This antibiotic is awful. The debilitating side effects that I have experienced beginning on Day 4 are unrelenting nausea, headache, and body aches. I can work and function with the flu, but this is worse than the flu. This is my third time attempting to take this medicine. I’ll never try it again. Avoid at all costs!"

For Strep Throat "I took AMOX/K CLAV 875-125 MG - It is the generic for AUGMENTIN. It didn't start working until the 4th day, very slow working, but the doctor did tell me it would work slow, but it would be very effective and to make sure and take for all 10 days, 12 hours apart, so I did. I did get the headaches, but don't know if it was from lack of eating and lack of coffee. I did notice that my taste buds were affected, which had never happened in the past, so I figured it would go away. It has now been 16 days since I started the medication, and my taste buds are getting better, but things still taste like chalk. I'll wait for a couple of weeks to see if taste buds get better, but for now I eat enough not to be hungry."

Yes, I generally feel like rubbish, BUT, it is kicking out of an advanced infection, so I'll take that over settling for something that may or may not work. Suck it up."

For Sinusitis "This medicine made me horribly sick. I get sinus infections 1-2 times per year and typically am prescribed azithromycin (Z-pack), which works great. This time, a new NP prescribed me 875 mg Augmentin 2 times a day. I've never really had trouble with antibiotics, so I obliged and started taking it. I was 4 doses in and started getting diarrhea, and it continued into the next day, so I took some Imodium. I should also mention that my voice got extremely hoarse after starting the medicine, too. The Imodium seemed to help a little, but I had a mild underlying continuous stomach ache that didn't go away. By the 3rd day, I had a headache, fever, bloating, and diarrhea. I stopped taking it on the 4th day. Two days later, I am still sick with stomach pain. This is the devil!"

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I took this medicine for a tooth abscess that couldn't be drained during the root canal. Severe diarrhea, headaches, minor heartburn, and I felt as though my throat were closing (doc said minor allergic reaction). I have been taking a probiotic and eating yogurt, but it hasn't helped with the stomach upset at all. It helped with the abscess, but 8 days later it isn't completely cleared. I've been switched to Clindamycin due to the tightening in my throat. Scared to death and sick of antibiotics."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Bacterial Infection "I have 3 days left of Augmentin for a sinus infection. I have had a mild headache and stomach cramps since taking this medicine. I forgot to take a pill at dinner and instead took it before bed. I couldn't get to sleep since I became very stuffy to the point that I couldn't breathe out of my nose. I started to feel heavy in my chest, so I had to get up to get my breathing under control. I didn't realize that others have had similar side effects. I will call my doctor and see if she recommends I finish the medicine. No Augmentin for me next time."

For Sinusitis "I had this for heavy sinus, throat, nose, lungs, and ear sinusitis. 875 mg dose every 12 hours for 10 days. No stomach or headache problems. Noticed some improvement after the first pill. After 9 days, nearly all symptoms gone, doctor has given an additional option for 7 more days if I wish. Very happy with this antibiotic. Lost 7 workdays from bad sinusitis. I may have gotten sinusitis from a neti pot used for nasal hygiene that used tap water rather than boiled water."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Middle Ear Infections "Was prescribed a 10-day course of Augmentin for an ear infection and bronchitis, and by day three had diarrhea, a severe headache, and nausea. Started probiotics, and that helped a little. Now, after being off of it for one day, I have developed a yeast infection. The meds did help the infection, but I felt like I was going to die in the meantime. I will never take this med again."

For Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "I didn’t used to like this antibiotic because it gave me awful side effects - I thought I was going to jump out of my skin, anxiety, heart racing, extreme headache. I had to stop taking it. But I discovered what the problem was. Aurobindo Pharmaceuticals! This is a generic drug maker, and every time I’ve used their various antibiotics, I get a bad reaction. It must be the fillers they use. I was prescribed Augmentin for a bad cough, sore throat, ear infection that wouldn’t go away for weeks. I was hesitant but desperate. I asked for anything but Aurobindo. They gave me Sandoz. Miracle! I feel so much better within 24 hours, and I can tolerate it."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "Don't know what's worse... the cellulitis infection or side effects of Augmentin. Headache, gassiness, bloating, stomach upset from day one. Horrible vomiting on day five. Thank goodness I only have a seven-day Rx. Calling the doctor tomorrow and will beg not to take the last two days or switch to something else."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "Took this for 10 days after a cat bite got infected. Noticed hyperactivity during the course, but it was two days after I finished the course that the real fun started - fatigue, head fog, inability to do anything, weight loss (three kg in four days!), really bad insomnia (unable to sleep until 5 am), unable to stomach anything except carbs. After a week of this, the nausea started, so that I couldn't eat anything without debilitating nausea. Headaches too. Am still in it after two weeks. Treating myself with ginger tea for nausea, slippery elm, probiotics, dandelion leaf and root for liver, lemon water, vegetable juices. I will never take this again."

For Sinusitis "Wouldn’t recommend. This medication did nothing for me. I’m on day 10 and still sick. I was told to use this, Flonase, and Mucinex DM. I did everything the doctor said. Today, I’m still hacking up green slime. It feels like someone is sitting on my chest, and I’m still not better. I’ve been weak, abnormally tired, and lethargic. It gave me diarrhea, headaches, and heart palpitations. I’m not one to go to doctors. Then to have gone and paid out of pocket for all this and still feel like garbage 10 days later is disappointing. I just wasted 100 bucks. I’m still missing work and still sick. This medicine is garbage!"

For Strep Throat "I've been taking this drug for possible strep throat. Since I started taking it, I've had extreme nausea, vomiting, dizziness, heartburn, chest pains, joint pain, pounding headache, insomnia, confusion, and loss of appetite. I don't know if I'm having problems because I'm young (16), but I don't plan on ever taking this drug again."

For Sinusitis "I was prescribed this for 10 days for an ear infection. My first 2 days, I just felt nauseous, but I ate a heavy meal and noticed that did help. BUT for the past 3 days, I've been having severe headaches, and I still have 5 days to go. I think I'm going to stop the medicine, it's not worth the pain! My ear does feel better, though!"

For Sinusitis "I lasted 6 days on this. 2 pills every 12 hours. I had severe stomach cramps, but it wasn't diarrhea. Eating helped a little bit with the vomiting feeling. I drank a lot of water as I felt dehydrated. I experienced insomnia every day up until 6 am, sleeping only 5 hrs a day, maybe even 4 with an hour nap. My skin became very itchy and broke out in hives on my elbows and upper arms. My lower back and ankles also broke out in hives. The headache is just so bad... within the first dosage, I had the headache immediately. I feel better from my ear infections, throat, nose, and eyes... but the hives are still there... follow up with Dr. asap."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "I've had sinus problems for so many years - blocked sinus, headaches, temple pressures, allergic episodes. I couldn't breathe and also had a sore throat. So I decided to take action for once and got prescribed a 7-day trial of Augmentin, plus 24-hour Claritin and nasal spray 2 times in each nostril every 3 hours as needed. The first days were hell because of my body's reaction to this antibiotic. Since I believe it was due to me never using any antibiotics ever. I got chills, high fevers of 102-104, weakness, bedridden fatigue, headache. It was horrible (although this could have been symptoms of infection). I started to take Tylenol to control the fever, it was a godsend (acetaminophen 500 mg). I took 2 tablets every 6 hours, which did the trick. But the fevers ended day 4. Everything got better after."

"One dose, one pill for a dental procured infection. I thought I wasn't going to make it through the night. Extremely awful stomach cramping and uncontrollable vomiting and diarrhea. Drenched in sweat without chills from head to toe. Struggled to breathe with a pounding headache. Woke up on the bathroom floor in the morning with a mess and no energy to move. It was as if I was poisoned."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "This drug is awful. I have 3 days left, and I physically cannot handle it anymore. I'm intensely nauseous every day, but I never vomit. I just drool at the mouth and dry heave until it wears away. But by the time the nausea settles, it's time to take another pill! It makes going to work almost impossible. I also get unusual headaches and generally feel terrible. Unfortunately, it's a holiday, so I am unable to contact my doctor for something new. Considering risking it and quitting - never again."
