For Urinary Tract Infection "I just wanted to share my experience to put some people's minds at ease about taking this medication. Before I started, I read all the reviews, which completely freaked me out, and I was terrified to take them, but had no choice in the end as my UTI was progressing and getting worse after a week with bad kidney pain. I started them last night with absolutely no side effects yet and am already feeling better. I slept all night last night without the need to go to the toilet, as previously. Please try to read the really bad reviews with a pinch of salt. I have been taking them with a meal, which I think has helped, and also probiotics to protect my gut. Just wanted to share a positive experience of this drug."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Ok. Let me start off by saying this medication has been great. I was prescribed 875 mg 2x daily for 5 days. I was first prescribed Macrobid, but that made me sick on the first dose, so my doctor switched to Augmentin. Some of these reviews are unfortunate, BUT REMEMBER. Antibiotics work differently for everyone. Drugs like Flagyl and Macrobid make me violently ill, but Augmentin/Amoxicillin drugs have been incredibly helpful. I did have a headache and on-and-off nausea throughout the week, but it is very tolerable. Take it with food, plenty of water, and a daily probiotic. Also, try to avoid coffee, as it intensified my nausea. There is no way to know how your body will react unless you try it, so don't be scared like I was. If you do get sick, there are always other options. I should also mention that it cleared up my UTI symptoms after about 48 hours."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Bacterial Infection "Prescribed Augmentin fairly frequently for diverticulitis (as I suffer from autoimmune neutropenia too, I am on a lower threshold for treatment as the risk of life-threatening infection is high). I always feel better after two days, but that's when the gates of hell open and the side effects knock me out completely. If I don't take in enough fluids, my kidneys feel like they'll explode, I feel so incredibly weak and lifeless, it gives me a constant headache for the duration of treatment, nausea, no appetite, diarrhea, intestinal pain worse than what it's supposed to treat, and it causes my emotional state to deteriorate severely - I can't stop crying and feel so very stressed, agitated, and anxious."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Strep Throat "On day 1, no change in the symptoms. Day 2: I got diarrhea. Day 3: no more fever and pain relief, diarrhea reduces as well. Day 4: No fever, no diarrhea, and a little headache. Days 5 to 7: I forgot I was sick, had to put reminders on the phone in order to remember to follow the 7-day prescription. Worked for me."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I had to take this medicine a lot as a child and never had any problems. I was prescribed it for a UTI, and since becoming an adult, I’ve developed a phobia for medication due to previous bad experiences. I will say I’ve had panic attacks after taking it, as well as horrible palpitations, but I feel that is my anxiety rather than the medication itself. Cleared up my infection within 3 days. I had no side effects other than the ones mentioned above. I ate before taking it, drank plenty of water, and also ate yogurt with live cultures. If you’re nervous about taking it, I was too, but everything ended up being fine. Luckily that is the case for the majority of people."

Have used this for 30 years for my annual weather change-induced inner ear infection with no side effects. Works better than a Z-Pak."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Strep Throat "My doctor told me to drink it down with water and then eat yogurt or a probiotic an hour after each dose, and I never got sick. She said if you don't drink enough water, you will get diarrhea, so I drank tons and never got it. I am so happy! I had been suffering for two months."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "I was prescribed this by my doctor for sinusitis. I’ve been on all types of antibiotics in my life, and this stuff is horrible. Went on my lunch break, and I was convinced I was dying. Anxiety, panic attacks, tarry stool (gastric bleeding?), chest and back pain, side pain, chest tightness, abdominal cramping (felt like something was tearing into my stomach), sweating, terrible diarrhea, pale, dizziness, huge headache, etc. Only took one dose, stopped dosage, and called my ENT doctor for an appointment."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "I took Augmentin starting last week for a sinus infection. The first few days were fine, and I felt relief from the pressure of the infection. However, by day 5, my stomach hurt so badly, and around my body to the back. I could not eat. My stomach was rock hard, and I felt so bloated. I could only suffer through day 8. I had to stop. I cannot tolerate this medication and will never take it again."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Bronchitis "This is the best antibiotic for the treatment of sinusitis and bronchitis. ALL antibiotics can give you diarrhea because they also can destroy the 'good' bacteria in your gut. You can alleviate this by taking a probiotic in small doses, or just have some yogurt for breakfast."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Middle Ear Infections "This is the only medication that works for my chronic ear infections. I get 5-6 ear infections per year, I’m 23, so not a common problem at my age. The last two infections, I ruptured my eardrum, which is extremely painful, but within 1 day of taking Augmentin, the drainage has stopped, and after 3 days, the pain is completely gone. I usually notice some GI issues, but I can deal with it for how well this medication clears the infection."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "Had the worst sinus infection of my life and couldn't sleep for 2 days. My sinuses felt like concrete. After 2 days on Augmentin, I finally felt relief. For Sinusitis "Do not take this amoxicillin/clavulanate if you suffer from panic attacks or anxiety. I have been feeling like I’m losing my mind and constantly crying and having the worst thoughts. I didn’t know where it was coming from, but it all makes sense now after reading other reviews. Don’t do it."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Bacterial Infection "Took Augmentin for a bad sinus infection. After day two, symptoms decreased a lot. I could smell things I haven't smelled in months. Day 3, vaginal itching, day 4, worse vaginal itching and headache. Decided to treat for a yeast infection. Day 5, feeling better. Taking probiotics with it daily. Have had some diarrhea, but I have IBS, so nothing more abnormal than usual. Even though the side effects aren't pleasant, it worked better than any antibiotic I've been given this year for this everlasting sinus infection."

For Bacterial Infection "Omg, so I'm on amoxicillin/clavulanate for a tooth issue. I'm going through my 4th pair of bottoms today! 1 pair of shorts, 3 pajama bottoms! I have had to hand wash diarrhea out of my shorts 4 times now! It's 2 am and my stomach is still gurgling. I'm afraid to go back to sleep because I woke up this last time to pooping in my shorts and on my bed! The other times I was awake at least. I have an abscessed tooth root that spread to my face. It's Friday night, looks like I'm stuck till Mon. I might have to do a telehealth appointment with Urgent Care to get just plain penicillin tomorrow. Only good thing is my facial swelling went down a little."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Bacterial Infection "This medication got rid of an infection in a cat scratch, but my God, have I suffered. By day 5, I was constantly on the edge of puking and had loose stool. I toughed it out, took double the probiotics I normally would, and was super excited to be done with it. Unfortunately, 10 days later, I'm still queasy on and off and have random loose stools. I feel like it destroyed my gut, not enough to be concerned about C. diff, just enough to make me feel like garbage and worry about going anywhere."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "Was prescribed Augmentin for sinus and upper respiratory infection, and within 48 hrs, I felt remarkably better. Before taking any meds, I felt as bad as I have ever felt with any type of cold-related illness. I will now request this med next time I have any similar illness. I did not experience any side effects, except maybe a little thirsty. If so, it was minor enough that I wasn't 100% sure that it was even a side effect."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "This is my second time using Augmentin. Before this, it was used for an ear infection, and now for sinusitis. Symptoms cleared up almost exactly when my doctor said they would-about 2 days in each time. Symptoms have been minimal, with only minor stomach upset. Taken with probiotics several hours apart from it regularly, I managed to avoid a yeast infection."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "Possibly the greatest thing ever invented. No side effects for me, and it knocks out my long-running sinus infections. Z-packs and other antibiotics are almost useless for me. 875 mg Augmentin twice per day for 10 days gets rid of the infection completely. Everything else helps for a week or two, and then I'm back to the doctor."

For Middle Ear Infections "I see a lot of reviews here regarding GI upset with amoxicillin and clavulanate. My way of avoiding GI upset is to simply take a complete digestive enzyme before each meal and only take my antibiotics on a full stomach, not before or in the middle of my meal. I also take a probiotic between doses of antibiotics. Hope this helps someone out there."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Starting in February 2017, I started to develop pain in the scrotum and testicle area. The pain has gone on until mid-April. I have only been able to have sex a couple of times because the pain is very severe. I was ruled out for STDs, and sonograms seemed normal. Apparently, because of weightlifting while having the bladder full, I had chemical backflow, which caused epididymitis (infection of the tubes connecting testicles to the urethra) and orchitis (infection of the testicles). I went through doxycycline for 14 days, and nothing. I started Cipro, but the side effects were devastating, it is poison (read it on your own online). I started Amoxicillin and Clavulanate Potassium 875 mg 3 days ago, and I am starting to feel better for the first time in ages."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "Had such a bad sinus infection that my right eye and face were swelling. Got 875 Augmentin twice daily. On day 2, the swelling stopped, and I can see out of my eye. Sore throat and nose running because my sinuses are now draining! No GI or side effects. Love it so far."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Pneumonia "Diagnosed with bronchial pneumonia two days ago. Had a fever of 102 at that point. Within two days, I don't have a fever. I am beginning to cough up the infection where I struggled before. I have to be open and add that I was also given prednisone to take. Between the two, at the end of the second day, I am beginning to feel better. Still a ways off, but I feel a difference."
