Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "Seem to work very well. I have had a sinus infection for over a week and was feeling miserable. I started taking Augmentin yesterday, and today I already feel 90% better! Yay! I think it is very important to take a high-potency good bacteria pill (forgetting right now what they are called)! Very pleased with this prescription."

For Sinusitis "I don't know why so many people hate this drug. It has cured me so many times. I never had that diarrhea at all, maybe it is smoother, lol, but all good. I know everyone is different, but with me, two thumbs up works every time!"

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Strep Throat "On Tamiflu for the flu, Z-pack for strep throat, and Motrin for pain and fever. Day 2: me begging, please give me penicillin, please. My throat began to swell and was covered with infection. I went to urgent care and was given a prednisone shot along with a Rocephin shot, followed by a prescription for prednisone, Augmentin, and Diflucan. Immediately, the Augmentin kicked the hell out of the strep throat. I began spitting out the infection, the flu symptoms subsided, and all is right in the world. I had the runs, upset stomach, and a yeast infection, all of those pale in comparison to strep throat and the flu."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Bacterial Infection "Took it via IV for five days in the hospital for diverticulitis infection, temperature dropped in a day and inflammation decreased. But had to take two more courses after being discharged to fully clear the infection I found the sickness and nausea very harsh and felt very weak when on it, surprisingly it didn't upset my stomach. Side effects cleared very quickly a few days after stopping it, I would rather take this than the dangerous alternative, Cipro. So would probably take again even though the side effects were difficult."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Kidney Infections "Was prescribed this Augmentin (875/125) 2 doses a day for 7 days after being misdiagnosed with a UTI and on Keflex for a week before that did nothing for my fever or pain or infection. When I was finally diagnosed with a kidney infection, I started taking Augmentin. I’m on day 3 and feeling so much better without my fever and kidney pain. However, I am having mild side effects. I get a decent headache within hours of taking each dose, and there is some diarrhea. However, taking it with food lessens those side effects, and the main thing I know is helping is taking good probiotics daily as well that has helped keep my flora balanced and prevent the thrush a lot of people experience after this medication. Very effective, just be sure to replenish the good bacteria in your system as you are taking it."

For Middle Ear Infections "I'm on my third day at 875 mg twice a day and experiencing zero side effects. I thought it would affect my stomach as I have an acidic stomach, and it hasn't. Not sure if it's working on the ear infection yet, will post after I finish the 7-day course. Please note: If I'd read the experiences people post here, I'd never have taken it, so I hope this helps someone if they've been prescribed this medication."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "I was recently prescribed Augmentin 875 mg two times a day for 10 days for a very severe upper respiratory/sinus infection. On day one, I had pain in my head, some sweating/chills, lethargy, and stomach upset. Day two, I had bad diarrhea, anxiety, nervousness/agitation, sweating/chills, and some tiredness. Day three, I had all of the above, as well as developing one hive on my right arm after my evening dose. The medication helps my sinus infection, but the side effects are troubling. I do not feel good for at least two or three hours after taking this medication."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Bacterial Infection "This is one of the worst experiences in my entire life. After taking Augmentin, I had diarrhea for a week, a yeast infection, dry red rashes on the palms of my hands and inner thighs, hemorrhoids, exhaustion, blurry vision, and an increased heart rate, which caused me to not be able to sleep. I WILL NEVER take Augmentin again, worst meds in the world."

For Sinusitis "Was given a 10-day supply of amoxicillin/clavulanate for my sinusitis and felt better from the first dose, but was farting up a storm, causing my pug to stare at me, lol. I’ll take that against feeling like garbage any day! “Better the shame than the pain,” an ex used to say, lmao! Make sure you eat something and drink plenty of fluids like water, tea, and low-sugar Gatorade. A probiotic is a good idea in general while taking an antibiotic. FINISH the FULL prescription! Some of these comments are wild, lol...(don’t let them scare you if you haven’t taken the meds yet)."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Strep Throat "My worst nightmare started with uncontrollable sneezing in the evening, which later developed into severe throat pain and musculoskeletal pain, with temperatures shooting up to 103. The physician (whom I consulted in the absence of my family physician) prescribed cefixime and Azithromycin (200, 500) combination twice a day, but the progress was very slow, with the temp remaining high at 103. Fortunately, my physician returned, and I consulted again and was prescribed Augmentin 625 twice a day for 3 days. Within a day, I found excellent improvement, and the second day, the strep pharyngitis completely subsided."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "AVOID, AVOID. I was prescribed this for what was diagnosed as a bacterial upper respiratory infection. Have never had issues with antibiotics before. Yes, it improved my symptoms from the infection....but every day, I had a POUNDING heartbeat in the mornings...and it was causing profound fatigue and weakness every day. Didn't figure it out until after I took it the morning of day 5 and did some research. I STOPPED THAT TOXIC MEDICINE then and there. It's now 48 hours after I stopped it and I still have easy fatigue and palpitations. AVOID!!!!"

For Urinary Tract Infection "Amoxicillin with clavulanate has been the best treatment for my recurring UTI! I get about 6 a year, and this is by far the best medication to treat it. Fast results, and not left with horrible side effects like other antibiotics."

For Sinusitis "This is a strong and multi-purpose antibiotic. Yes, you will get stomach pain, yes, you will get loose stools, and yes, you get some other form of discomfort. But if you want to rid your upper respiratory infection quickly and for good, then this is the drug. No pain, no gain. This drug almost guarantees that the original infection will not return. When it comes to sinuses, you need to destroy all of the bad bacteria for good. Just reducing the bacteria with a mild antibiotic that agrees with you is certain to allow the same bacteria to grow and make you sick again a month or two in the future. Tough it up, buttercup, and destroy that bad bacteria for good."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Strep Throat "After failing to complete the 10-day cycle of penicillin initially prescribed and a 3-day delay in getting back to the doctor, the strep came back 500x worse than the first time (including sinus and ear infections). Augmentin was prescribed along with Lidocaine Viscous (to gargle), Sudafed, Flonase, Ibuprofen, and Saline Rinse. After 1 day, I can tell that I am on the mend... fever gone; throat, ears, and sinuses getting better... I have had no adverse digestive effects (am eating yogurt consistently as it's the only thing that I have been able to get down). I am thankful that the Nurse Practitioner at CVS Minute Clinic went all out instead of sending me to the ER. This time I will finish the complete cycle!"

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Skin or Soft Tissue Infection "I had a stye that turned into cellulitis with extreme swelling, redness, and pain. If you Google the most extreme pics of periorbital cellulitis, I looked worse than those. My lower eyelid was so swollen that it was projected so far out that when I closed my eye, my inside tissue, the mucous membrane was completely exposed. It felt like my skin was ripping apart. I was prescribed 1000 mg Augmentin, and after the first tablet, I was about 25% better. After the second tablet, all pain was gone and it went down to looking like a normal stye again. This was in just 24 hours. By the end of day 3, you'd never know it happened. I've also been prescribed Augmentin for bronchitis and respiratory infections, and it's quick and works great for those as well."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "Ok, so I started with pneumonia, and then it kinda came back as a sinus infection/bronchitis (I have no idea). So they gave me this antibiotic for resistance issues. The first dose had my tummy rumbling, but I ate and took a probiotic! I had loose stools (and still have them), but I am slightly afraid of antibiotics just because they upset my stomach (previously the doxy for my lungs). But the probiotic helps SO MUCH! As long as you eat with it and take a probiotic if you want to, then you should be fine. I really like the way it’s working! I’m almost clear even though I’m on it for a week, and I’m only two days in. Be safe!"

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "I loved the antibiotic. If you take probiotics and eat yogurt, you'll be fine. If you're sensitive to antibiotics and get yeast infections easily, I recommend asking your GP for Diflucan. Take 2 pills 2 or 3 days into the antibiotic course, then on day 6 or 7."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "I would NEVER recommend this drug to ANYONE! Took 1 pill about 3 hours before bed. Finally got to bed at 3 am and lay there for an hour with such nausea I had to get up. Tried to take some Pepto-Bismol for it, and no sooner than I took it, I got violently ill! I was vomiting the rest of the night until around 6 am. I have no problem at all with taking regular Amoxicillin, so whatever else is in here, my body rejects it strongly! One minute I'd be sweating like it was 120 degrees, the next I'd have the chills so bad it felt like I was outside with shorts and a tank top on in the middle of winter (like now). NEVER AGAIN! Stay as far away from this drug as possible!"

For Kidney Infections "I was really worried about taking this antibiotic after reading all of the negative reviews! However, I had to do it. I ate a PBJ and banana before taking every morning and have had ZERO side effects so far. In the afternoon, I just take it after dinner. Everyone can react differently to any medication, but don't get too caught up in all the negative reviews. People who have negative experiences are much more likely to submit a review (for anything) than positive experiences. The antibiotic worked as expected. I am so glad I was able to take this over cipro."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Sinusitis "Positives: - Sore throat and eye infection gone. Negatives: - Woke up to spine, neck, chest, left arm pain to the point I thought I was having a heart attack. - Numb limbs, ears, and eye pressure. - Nightmares, such as birds attacking and pecking my brain. - Non-stop migraines that affected my vision, and I thought I had a brain tumor or aneurysm. - Brain fog and fatigue that I can barely hold a conversation. - Acid reflux. - Heart palpitations that wake me up in my sleep. - Food and water taste bitter with an aftertaste. - Dry eyes and photophobia. - Wake up in the mornings feeling hungover and disoriented. You can see the cost/benefit of this medication."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Bacterial Infection "This is NOT a good choice if you're allergic to any penicillin-type antibiotics or prone to vaginal yeast infection. AVOID. Talk about severe vaginal itching! It's the kind of itching without odor or discharge; just full-fledged random itching. The short-term remedy is Benadryl. I didn't know I was allergic until I was prescribed this for a sinus infection. So, it's been 6/10 days on Augmentin and I'm calling it quits. To be fair: the sinus infection is all clear, so it does work. Apparently, this reaction happens to 1 out of 15 patients."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I have been put on Augmentin 875 mg-125 mg twice a day for a urinary tract/kidney infection (E. coli strain). I have taken this medication before, and so I wasn't concerned about any serious side effects. This medication works well for me, which says a lot considering I do have serious side effects to many things (Compazine, droperidol, erythromycin). I felt better within 1 day of taking my dose, and the only problem I am experiencing is a strange rattle/'percolating' feeling in my chest when I breathe. It's annoying but not preventing me from breathing, walking around, or even going to work. I have taken a daily probiotic pill (Nature's Way Primadophilus refrigerated) for years, and I believe this is what prevents any upset stomach or yeast issues."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Bronchitis "Excellent antibiotic for bronchitis! I haven't been sick in over 1 year since full-time retirement as a nurse manager; spring hit early in Rhode Island, with its fluctuating temperatures and abounding viruses/bacteria, and wham! Sickness with a nagging cough and productive sputum came with it. Augmentin for 7 days was prescribed by the NP. On day 4, feeling much better."

Amoxicillin / clavulanate for Upper Respiratory Tract Infection "Used it for a 2-year-old for bronchitis and was very effective. Difference seen in 2 days. I used Orelox before that, and it did not help at all. With any chest, sinus-related infection, Augmentin is the way to go."

For Bacterial Infection "Wow... I guess I got lucky. I took this amoxicillin/clavulanate 2x per day for 10 days (500 mg amox/250 mg clav per pill) and had no issues at all. No stomach issues, no headache, nothing. Also worked really well in clearing up my infections."
