Alprazolam for Panic Disorder "Been on Xanax for 4 years, 1mg a day for intense panic attacks in the evening/night. Would wake up sweaty, heart palpitating, impending doom, and vomiting nonstop. Also have CVS. Xanax worked great, also helped my TMJ. Never had to increase my dose in the 4 years I've been on it & never took more than the one pill a day I was prescribed. So tell me why now, all of a sudden my doctor has taken me off of it?! After 3 days of not taking it, I was twitching, vomiting, couldn't hold down water, TMJ pain, intense migraine, and tinnitus. Called doctor & told him I have a 5-year-old child, cannot be bedridden all day! He called in a script but only 15 pills, half my normal dose & said he couldn't give me anymore. His reasoning: 'You've been on it too long and you shouldn't need it anymore.' Xanax helps my panic attacks, TMJ, CVS, insomnia. Had given me my life back. No quality of life now. Guessing this is because of people who abuse them, they want to take people off who legit need it & don't abuse it."

Alprazolam for Anxiety "I have taken Xanax for about 25 years but only as needed. There are many years I never took any & there are years I took it for a few weeks to help with my anxiety, stress of having a child with a deadly disease & the depression that ensues. I usually take the 0.5mg & cut it in half and only use it 1-2 times a day, occasionally 3 halves a day. It soothes me & helps my constantly chattering, negative mind take a break. I have tried SSRIs & have symptoms of being allergic to them, so can't take them, i.e. muscle twitching, rash & itching. So, Xanax is my only recourse. I know it can be addictive so am very careful to take it only as needed, short courses, & usually about half the amount the doctor prescribes. It has helped me greatly."

Alprazolam for Anxiety "I get intense panic attacks. Xanax is very effective at working quickly to stop a panic attack. It saved my life, until after a few months I tried to stop taking it and got horrible withdrawals. I felt like I was dying, my anxiety was worse than it had ever been in my life, high blood pressure (and mine is naturally low), tachycardia, hallucinations, tremors. I hope anyone considering taking Xanax takes it at a low dose and not daily. If daily, do not quit cold turkey."

Alprazolam for Panic Disorder "I used to live with severe panic attacks and overall was always full of anxiety. This medication works so well that I feel very normal again. The nightmares, shaking, nausea, panicking, sweaty and restless feeling, and anxiety all stopped. I highly recommend this medication for people who genuinely need a benzodiazepine to regulate the central nervous system. Make sure you don't abruptly stop taking them though, as you will feel extremely ill! Do keep your doctor informed of any side effects. They are pretty mild, however, they can cause weight gain and lower sex drive."

Alprazolam for Anxiety "It's been 3 months now off Xanax (was taking up to 4 mg a day for 2 years after my brother killed himself) and I'm just now starting to feel like myself again. Coming off the Xanax was the hardest thing I've ever done. I had to force myself to work and keep my job. I had good days and bad days (more bad than good). My symptoms were crazy. No sleep, headaches, shakes, twitching, pain everywhere, memory problems. If I knew how hard it is to come off benzos, I never would have touched it. Short-term use = okay. Stressful event = okay. If this helps one person, then yay. Please be careful! Don't end up detoxing off of a benzo and going through hell for weeks or months. Research this med. Not fun!"

Alprazolam for Panic Disorder "I call it Xanax, it has been the med that has helped me to not suicide. I have severe panic attacks. I cannot be around people. I never could go to my family gatherings because I would be shaking and never could go out and enjoy dinner or lunch at a restaurant with my children. I stuttered and could not talk, I had racing horrible thoughts and could not sleep. But Xanax has helped my panic disorder so much. It does work for me, it’s a miracle pill."

Alprazolam for Panic Disorder "I've been taking Xanax for 7 years. Been taking Xanax XR for the past 2 years. It's great. Before I started taking the XR, I was taking 2 mg bars 2 or 3 times a day and would start to have panic attacks after taking one in about 5 hours and would always wake up around 4:30-5:00 am in severe panic, heart pounding, shaking uncontrollably, vision distorted, sweating, and totally paranoid. After taking the 3 mg Xanax XR once in the morning, all that stopped."

Alprazolam for Anxiety "Truly a miracle pill! Starting to have severe anxiety attacks out of nowhere (heart palpitations, numbness in arms and legs, dizziness, tremors), and within 15 to 20 minutes, I feel normal again! I would advise only taking it when desperately needed because I can see how they can become addictive! I take 0.5 mg but will start to cut that in half, a lower dosage is always better if it works. I have only been taking it for one week, so far so good, and no side effects to report."

Alprazolam for Anxiety "Xanax worked wonders for my anxiety. Next thing I know, I only ate one meal every four days and lost 15 pounds in two weeks. Withdrawal is the worst. I vomited for seven weeks straight and at least twice a day. I've been clean for two months, I still don't sleep until five or six in the morning. I have slight muscle tremors. Prescriptions must be monitored extremely carefully."

Alprazolam for Anxiety "I recently realized I have had anxiety practically my whole life. Being thirty years old now, I really wish I had been prescribed this a long time ago. It has reduced my shaking and anxiety effects so much that I feel like a real person. I never knew what it was like to feel calm until now. I am very thankful for this medicine."

Alprazolam for Anxiety "I started on Xanax after the birth of my second child for postpartum anxiety. I used Ativan after my first baby, but my new doctor wanted me to try Xanax. I thought it worked great at first. .25 mg, four times a day. Most days, I only took two or three. My baby developed colic issues, and my husband was working 60-70 hours a week, so I had no help and was going crazy from no sleep and endless hours of non-stop crying, so they upped my dose to .5 mg three times a day. Things calmed down around three months, so I tried to cut back down but ended up with severe panic attacks and shaking, etc. Even when I take my regular dose on time, I am still struggling with increased heart rate, shakiness, irritability, etc. Hoping to switch meds or something at my next appointment."

Alprazolam for Anxiety "The medicine itself I didn't have an issue with, although I still prefer Klonopin, but it was the withdrawal I couldn't handle. I was on this medication for two months, and since, like I previously mentioned, I decided to go back on Klonopin. I stopped taking the Xanax XR. When I did, I felt like a bus ran over me. I felt shaky, drowsy, and like I'd been out drinking the night before (which I haven't done in 10 years). It really wasn't worth the withdrawal."

For Panic Disorder "I'm 21, a male, and I can't tell you how much Xanax has given me my life back. I was so consumed with panic attacks and, when I'd have one, I'd suffer the most terrifying symptoms (severe vertigo, shakiness all over my body, high blood pressure, racing thoughts, faintness, tunnel vision, and an overall feeling of doom). I thought I was going to die. The anxiety, social anxiety, and panic attacks controlled my life. But now it's the other way around! Taking one 0.5 mg tablet immediately stops a panic attack in its tracks. Not only does Xanax take away my anxiety, but it 'cleanses' my mind, body, and puts me back on track. It's changed my life so positively. No side effects or addiction. I can finally LIVE now!"

Alprazolam for Anxiety "I was prescribed 2 mg Xanax retard daily for hypertension 15 years ago. I have severe anxiety and panic attacks, which started about the same time. At the moment, my panic attacks and anxiety have worsened. I now have 1 mg Xanax retard, and if desperate, take another 1 mg normal Xanax. I feel guilty that I take them, but I am sick of feeling tired, frightened, and shaky. After reading the comments, I felt a lot better about taking Xanax. I need to feel better, and as someone said, hypertension meds are necessary every day, but no one says stop taking them."

For Anxiety "I'm currently on alprazolam - 1 mg a day. I've been diagnosed with severe anxiety and panic disorder, afraid of dying; through my experience because of my symptoms, which are rapid heartbeat, trouble breathing, sweaty feet or clammy hands, nausea, trembling, trouble sleeping, going out to do anything became an issue too, socializing, and even faint, dizzy, pure fear of death. This has conflicted with my wife, children, jobs, and my entire life, period. Xanax has given me my life back in full, and I am currently regaining my life back."

For Panic Disorder "I would like to know if those posting are taking this specific generic form of alprazolam. I also have cervical dystonia. For many years, I was prescribed a different brand. This one pictured makes both my panic and tremors worse, and it must be cheaper because it seems to be the pharmacy's choice. Has anyone else had this experience?"

Alprazolam for Anxiety "I have lived with anxiety for five years, and it has been a living nightmare. I struggle with trying to relax and calm after a long day's work. I am a mother, full-time employee, and a recent college graduate (full-time, too). I have lived so long being stretched, and now that I don't need to stretch that far, I have issues with trying to relax and take it easy. I am on Celexa and had to add Xanax to my regimen a year ago after having my first panic attack. I take 0.25 mg as needed and sometimes before bed to help me sleep. Xanax has helped me calm my nerves and relax. Usually, within the first half hour, I feel like I can chill out. It takes away the physical effects (shakiness and fast heartbeat) and cools the mind and thought process."

Alprazolam for Anxiety "I've been on quite a few different kinds of medications for anxiety and depression, but I've never had a reaction quite like I did with this one. Within hours of taking it for the first time, I began to feel nauseous, drowsy, uncoordinated, shaky; my vision was blurry and I couldn't drive a car. These symptoms persisted until I stopped the medication. I tried it once or twice after stopping the first time, and the horrible symptoms came right back. I couldn't even do my work. If you have any sensitivities to this medication, I would not recommend it. I'm no doctor, but even I know when a pill isn't worth the risk."

For Panic Disorder "These do not work. Have been on alprazolam for years. Always had ones made by ACT. The ones made by Greenstone, generic of alprazolam, are horrible. Not only do they not work, they have so many side effects: extreme heartburn, cause shakiness, crying, dropping things, constipation, and some others. Never, ever had these issues prior to the pharmacy changing brands."

Alprazolam for Anxiety "I have been taking Xanax off and on for about 3 years now. It is great for anxiety. I spent thousands of dollars going to the ER thinking I was having a heart attack before it was brought to my attention that it was actually anxiety. I take 0.5 mg as needed now. I noticed that when I stopped taking it, I could not sleep for days, and I became shaky at times, and the anxiety returns immediately. The other thing that I notice is that after a while you become immune to the dosage. If you only take it with the onset of an anxiety or panic attack, it shouldn't be a problem."

Alprazolam for Anxiety "It's sad. Ever since I was a child, I've had anxiety problems, and it only seems to get worse with age. I've used Xanax for years to help control it when it feels like I'm going to have a heart attack (racing heart) or I start shaking so bad I can't even think straight. Xanax worked wonders for me. Now my MD wants to stop it. I'm on Cymbalta, and unfortunately, I find it a very poor substitute, as I find it doesn't do 'the great job Xanax did.'"

For Anxiety "I truly believe that Xanax has been the ONLY medication that has worked for my anxiety and depression. Any other anxiety/depression prescription that I have been on never really worked. I would be shaky a lot, tired all the time, and I never just felt sane or content. I have been prescribed Zoloft, Paxil, and even Abilify, but none of those worked! Xanax is what worked for me, and it calms me down every time I need it, and that is a lot because I am easily upset and can easily become stressed out. This is a miracle medicine, it really is!"
