Vilazodone for Depression "About 3 weeks now, I feel a little better, but I almost feel like I'm on speed. It increased my anxiety and heartbeat so much, I could not be comfortable. And I couldn't sleep that well. Not working for me!"

Vilazodone "I have tried every med out there, and none of them worked. So my doctor did a Genesight test on me, and the report came back and the top medication recommended was Viibryd. I was 100% doubtful, but I took it anyway. Life was so unmanageable with all of my symptoms. I couldn't work and was in the process of filing for disability. My symptoms were not benign, as my crisis gave me seriously high blood pressure, stressed my heart out, and my troponin levels were very high. Day 5 on this medication, I fell asleep, and much to my surprise, I woke up in the morning. I usually had insomnia or nocturnal panic attacks, but not this night. As the days went by, I began feeling really good. My anxiety attacks dropped easily 90%, and my depression melted away. My blood pressure was even controlled, and I had no CPTSD events. It's been 2 months now, and I am still processing the shock I am in. I finally feel calm now, controlled, and at peace. That's my experience. I'm loving life again."

Vilazodone for Major Depressive Disorder "Have been on SSRIs since 1992. Then switched to SNRI Pristiq for 7 years, but it 'pooped out.' Tried Trintellix, Cymbalta for 6 months and was always falling asleep at my desk and absolutely knocked out all libido. Did a cross-switch to Viibryd, which is the best med so far. It's an SSRI, but it uses a different pathway, and I feel like myself again. Since there's no generic, it is expensive, but worth every penny. Libido is back! No more ED or need for Viagra at 65 years old. That certainly helps to feel 'whole' again. Did the cross-switch from Cymbalta to Viibryd, and it wasn't very difficult by slowly decreasing Cymbalta and gradually increasing Viibryd. Went from 10-20-30 with no problem. Just started 40mg, which is the recommended dose. Also, 25mg of Strattera was added for concentration (ADHD). Feeling great - results excellent."

Vilazodone for Depression "It has been a good 12 months since I have been taking the 40mg. I can say that I feel better when I am on this and also the important thing, after about the 8th month or so all the side effects are pretty much nonexistent."

Vilazodone "First, I am a registered nurse. I want to clarify that I am not promoting the drug. However, I wanted to share my personal experience and how much it helped me, which I didn't realize until I tried to go off the medication. A few years ago, I was prescribed this medication for generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) with panic attacks/panic disorder. I decided to discontinue the medication six months ago, but I followed a very slow two-year tapering process because I believed I could manage my condition on my own. I tried various approaches such as focusing on gut health, using essential oils, practicing deep breathing, undergoing eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and trying other methods. While these approaches provided some relief, they were nowhere near as effective as Viibryd. It turns out Viibryd was actually doing its job! However, after six months of tapering, I experienced the worst panic attack of my entire life, completely out of the blue. The racing thoughts and constant feeling that 'something is wrong' (which had been absent for years) returned one week before my panic attack. This experience made me realize that Viibryd was truly beneficial for me. I also want to mention that I have a genetic test from Genomind, which is an incredible tool. I want to emphasize that there is no shame in seeking help through medication. Please reach out for assistance if you are struggling. I will keep everyone in my prayers."

Vilazodone for Depression "I have depression and generalized anxiety disorder. Had both positive and negative effects. First the negative (Gastrointestinal (diarrhea that goes away in time), numbness down arms and hands at night, insomnia, tingling in forehead in initial stages, swelling of face, hands, stomach, ankles, initial anxiety that subsided, up a few lbs but cannot say it is the medication yet, closely watching diet to see but do seem to get very hungry in evenings). The positive is I feel better, not as negative or anxious, dealing with my mother's Alzheimer's disease better."

Vilazodone for Major Depressive Disorder "I am a 28-year-old male. I was diagnosed with High Functioning Autism (Asperger's) when I was 19 and a couple of years later with Treatment-Resistant Unipolar Major Depressive Disorder. I've lost several jobs and did poorly in school due to severe social anxiety and poor attendance. I always wanted to be alone and just sit in my room. I had a couple of suicide attempts when I was younger. After trying many antidepressants, my psychiatrist tried me on Viibryd. I began feeling better at the beginning of the 3rd week of treatment, and soon my depression was almost nonexistent. I do have several odd side effects: Diarrhea, Dilated Pupils, Brain Zaps, twitching/talking in sleep, etc. But I am still better off than before."

Vilazodone for Major Depressive Disorder "I have been on numerous antidepressants for 12 years, including combinations of Zoloft and Wellbutrin, Cymbalta, Lexapro, Prozac, and many others. I also suffer from severe anxiety and have panic attacks. I used to have to take at least 2 antidepressants to keep my depression at bay, and it seemed they would only work for about 18-24 months before the combination stopped working. I began Viibryd right after it came on the market because I needed my sex life back. Both my psychiatrist and I were skeptical, but I have been on 20 mg Viibryd for 3 years now and have never felt better, happier, or more optimistic. I can have orgasms now, too! It has changed my life."

Vilazodone for Depression "I’ve been on several medications for anxiety/depression. I get severe anxiety with occasional depression. When I first started Viibryd, I was extremely irritable and constantly crying. I stuck it out for a while (at the time, I was too depressed to go to the doctor to fix it), and it ended up getting a lot better. The side effects went away, and I was okay. I’ve been on Viibryd for about 2 years now, and I would say the worst side effect is the sleep issues. I work third shift, and I generally take it in the morning (around 7:30 am) when I get home from work. If I don’t take it around that time on my days off, I feel like I’m in a coma and can’t get up. I’m like sleeping but aware. And I feel like I’m constantly trying to drag myself out of bed, and it takes several tries before I feel that my mind is strong enough. Then when I get up and take it, I have a headache almost all day. If I take it at the exact time daily, it’s a pretty good drug. I hope all this makes sense!"

For Anxiety "For me, Viibryd is by far the best medication for my MDD. I found that I felt the effects of this medication if I take it at night while I'm asleep. I would wake up feeling 20 times better than I did before trying to work through getting the right medication to fight my MDD. My suggestion to anyone who is taking this med would be to take it at night with a light sleep aid. Waking up well-rested and energized. When I first started taking it, I would take it during the day while I was awake, and it seems like I would feel brain zaps, dizziness, foggy head, and upset stomach. One day I had forgotten to take my pill, and it wasn't until I was getting ready for bed that I realized this. I was already on a sleep aid, so I decided to just go ahead and take it then. When I tell you I woke up a new person, that's no lie. And from that day on, that is how I would take my pill, and it has been great."

Vilazodone for Depression "I was put on this medication one month after its FDA approval for Major Depressive Disorder. I was told it would probably take up to 3 weeks for a noticeable difference in my mood and behavior, but I noticed a difference on day 2. I felt like I was able to have emotions and feelings again. I was not as irritable or angry, and I felt like I had more energy and confidence. When I stepped up the doses, I had the GI side effects, but those have been resolved when my body adapted. I still get restless legs occasionally at night, and when I forget to take my medicine, I get really itchy, irritable, and hazy. But the good outweighs the bad. I feel great! Try it!"

Vilazodone for Depression "I've been on Viibryd for a year now. It's completely changed my life. When I went to the doctor, I knew it was time to get help. I still have a bad day now and then, but who doesn't? No more crying, staying in bed for days, and hating life. I know medication works differently for everyone, but this is what worked for me. No matter what, don't give up, get help!"

Vilazodone for Depression "My new doctor put me on Viibryd to help with my severe depression and anxiety 4 months ago. My previous doctor had tried many medications such as Lexapro, Celexa, and Cymbalta...and to be quite frank, every one of them was horrible! I gained 60 lbs between them over a year, which only deepened my depression. I felt like I was insane with those medications and hated myself and everyone around me even more and began to feel like people were 'out to get me'. All the while on those medications, I had to take Ativan and Valium for my severe anxiety. Since I've been on Viibryd, I feel like a new person! I did not gain any weight, and Viibryd helps control my anxiety without the need for other medications! It's expensive but worth every penny!"

Vilazodone for Major Depressive Disorder "Viibryd has been life-changing for me! I am 54, menopause, severe depression most of my life that couldn't be controlled, sleeping all the time, several failed meds, very low energy levels. After just two weeks on Viibryd, my energy level is fantastic, my mood swings much better, and I am up at 7:00 AM most mornings and can go all day! I love it!"

Vilazodone for Depression "I am a 45-year-old male who has been diagnosed with GAD that has been bad for about three years. I have tried Paxil, Prozac, Effexor, and one or two other drugs that I could not tolerate. The side effects were worse than the anxiety I was trying to help. Seven weeks ago, my P doc suggested trying Viibryd. I reluctantly started it. I am highly sensitive to medicines of any type, so my doc started me at 5 mg and moved me up to 10 mg at 4 weeks. The first two weeks were great with marked improvement, and then my anxiety spiked up pretty bad. My doc encouraged me to continue and that this can be normal. I had a rough time until week 5 when things started to level off. I'm now into week seven, and I feel great. Stick it out!"

Vilazodone for Depression "I have been on 10mg of Viibryd for about a month. I have a low drug tolerance, and I couldn't get past the side effects of the other drugs I've tried. Viibryd had very minimal side effects that are now gone (vivid dreams and brain zaps). My anxiety has significantly lessened, and I'm out of that depression fog. What a relief to be out of that negative state and constant worry! It just goes to show that different drugs work differently for everyone. Viibryd isn't well reviewed, but the ones that are highly scored didn't work for me at all. Don't give up or be afraid to find your perfect fit."

For Anxiety "I have been on antidepressants and benzos for over 30 years, the benzos still work the best, but this is by far the best antidepressant I have ever come across for reducing my anxiety and calming me down. Have been on Tofranil, Effexor, Paxil, Zoloft over the years, and Viibryd is head and shoulders above the other antidepressants!"

Vilazodone for Depression "I've been on Viibryd for 7 days and it's been great. I'm only on 10mg right now and will be moving to 20mg in the next couple of days. I only had soft stools once, but other than that, no other stomach issues. Some of the side effects I am having are weird vivid dreams, super increased libido, and out of 6 of the 7 days I've taken Viibryd, I've awakened out of my sleep to very intense orgasms. Other than that, I feel much better. The real test will be when my PDD occurs. If it can control my lows during my period, then we have a winner."

Vilazodone for Depression "I did the gene testing, and this was on my 'good' list. I have been on Celexa, 60 mg for 15 or so years. Have been struggling with depression and anxiety since I was a child. Thought I would try a new antidepressant and was feeling optimistic about Viibryd. Started out on 20 mg. Within the first 2 weeks, I started feeling very irritable and felt like I would cry over nothing. My doc said to increase to the 40 mg. I feel like I am losing it. My brain won't shut off. I spend 99% of the time on the verge of tears. I have been having really crazy dreams. I haven't felt this off mentally since I was in my early 20s. I am seeing my doc again in a few days, and I can't wait. I seriously have considered going to the ER and checking myself into the psych ward. I have not had any issues with digestive upset. I am sure that this med is good for some. As for me, I will not be trying anything new again."

Vilazodone for Depression "Lexapro worked really well for 10 years, then stopped helping. After that, I'd been on what seemed like every antidepressant out there, I just couldn't beat my depression. Then my doctor put me on Viibryd after a gene test. Within 2 weeks, I started feeling better. I have been on Viibryd for about a year and am still doing a lot better. I'm not 100%, but it's the best I've felt in a long time."

Vilazodone for Depression "I have had depression from age 12 and am now 40. I have used all SSRI's, Wellbutrin, Effexor, etc., but would have to quit each one due to various side effects. Buspar & Xanax helped but weren't strong enough. I was fed up! So I quit all depression medicines for 3 years (not advisable!). I became more depressed than I had ever been in my life. I went back to a doctor and he put me on Viibryd. I was skeptical! But he explained how it was different. So I tried it. I used the gradual dose increase and I had bad nausea but it did eventually pass as long as I took it with a high-protein breakfast. That was my only side effect. I have been on it for over a year and have never felt this well! I do get withdrawal symptoms if I miss a dose but to me it's still worth it!"

Vilazodone for Depression "I had depressive episodes even as a teenager. They seemed to get worse every third month. I'd been on every known medicine for twenty years without any help. I took Valium for panic attacks several times a day every day for twenty years. I've been on Viibryd for five weeks and finally found help. The only side effects have been diarrhea only in the morning the first few days and dry mouth. I wake up feeling very good each day. Thank you."

Vilazodone for Depression "Been on this Viibryd almost a month. Was on Zoloft, but it really didn’t do much for me. I started the starter pack, and my Dr. raised me to 40 mg. I took it in the afternoon, around 2:00, and it makes me so tired by 5:00 pm, all I can do is lay down. Last night, I took it at 12:00 pm, and by 3:00 pm today, I can’t keep my eyes open. Has anyone ever had this overwhelming feeling you need to go lay down and sleep? I don’t think this drug is for me!"

Vilazodone for Depression "I took Viibryd (vilazodone) for a year at 40 mg and started experiencing memory loss and other dementia symptoms. I had a scary experience twice where I felt confused, got lost, and had tingling and numbness on the right side of my body, as well as slurred speech. I went to the ER on November 17, 2022, where I was suspected of having a stroke, but after getting several tests, the neurologist concluded that it was due to the medication. After stopping Viibryd, the memory loss side effects improved over time."

Vilazodone for Major Depressive Disorder "Viibryd has saved my life! I’ve tried every SSRI and SNRI antidepressant that’s out there since 1996, and NOTHING has ever helped me like Viibryd. I feel like myself before the feelings of depression ever started (1996), and it feels so darn good to feel like me again! I feel free as a bird and not trapped in a “brain fog” that controlled my feelings of GREAT sadness for absolutely no reason and robbed me of my joy. I have my energy back, and I love life again to where I look forward to getting out of bed every day. It’s so nice not feeling like you’re a prisoner to your bed. I used to pray so hard and wish I had just enough of what it takes to get out of the bed, take a shower, etc. To some people, it was pure laziness, but I know otherwise, and only those that have experienced what I’ve been through understand, and that’s okay! Some people judge what they don’t understand, and that’s human nature. I aspire to NOT be that kind of person every day, because no one is perfect."
