For Osteoarthritis "Don’t bother with Zilretta. I have been getting conventional cortisone knee injections for several years - tried Zilretta in an attempt to reduce the frequency of injections. Three weeks out and minimal relief compared to conventional cortisone. Now I have to wait several months before I can get regular cortisone again."

For Dermatological Disorders "Epidermal cyst: I thought it was a pimple near the side of my chin. I attempted to burst it, but it only got bigger. The problem had been there a while, I tried ignoring it! My dermatologist said it was a cyst (epidermal). She gave me the steroid injection and told me that in 2-3 days I should have results but to allow 6 weeks for full results. I just received the shot this morning, and I already see positive results."

For Osteoarthritis "First shot worked great. Second shot, I had severe pain and a burning sensation on the side of my knee that faces the other knee. This pain lasted 4 days and about drove me out of my mind. I kept thinking he injected into a nerve or something that shouldn't have been stabbed. It was horribly painful, and I'm really good at handling pain, but I was ready to have this leg amputated on day 3. Finally, on day 5, it let up. The injection spot stayed red and swollen for two weeks. Now the shot is helping. I'm scheduled to get a third injection in December. If it reacts like the second one, I'll know I'm allergic. However, it seems weird I had no reaction to the first shot, then 7 months later, the second shot nearly drove me insane. Made my whole body hurt, especially my back. Never could get my doctor's office back on the phone. Now 3 weeks later, and calling twice a week and leaving messages, they don't return phone calls."

For Bursitis "I have crow's feet tendonitis, and this med was bad. It didn’t help with my condition at all. I suddenly have hot flashes, insomnia, heart palpitations, chest pain, and dizziness. I also had hallucinations that I had fleas and scratched myself in the days after. It has affected my vision and speech."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I had a shoulder injection for chronic pain. The next day, I went into horrible AFib, which lasted 10 days. Two days after the injection, I developed severe headaches with pain behind my left eye. Then, I got so fatigued and could not do anything. I'm still feeling bad 11 days after the injection. My doctor said these are all side effects of Kenalog. I would have refused the injection if I had known of these side effects. I have had other injections for lower back, etc., and never had this reaction."

For Lupus "I have used Kenalog for my lupus. It has helped tremendously without all the side effects. My flares are less frequent and pain is minimal. I can function again. My only problem was I was getting them in my arms, and it caused a loss of muscle. I switched injection sites between my butt and arms, so I'm not getting them in the same location all the time."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I get an intramuscular injection of Kenalog 40 in my right shoulder to relieve psoriatic arthritis. The medication works within 2-4 days. It reduces pain from 8/10 to 3/10. The medication seems to be distributed by my bloodstream. The rest of my entire body feels the results of the medication also."

For Osteoarthritis "I fell at work more than 2 years ago, broke my patella. After 3 surgeries, the last one seemed to have worked well, my pain level was down to a 2-3. My doctor suggested getting this injection to get me lasting pain relief going forward. I wish now I hadn't. My pain level increased to at least a 5 within a week, sometimes it hurts as much as a 6-7. I have pain where I didn't have pain before. Calling my doctor this week. My surgery was at the end of April, the injection was done at 4 weeks. I am now 3 weeks past the injection date, and it has only worsened my knee pain. I am so over this knee pain."

For Osteoarthritis "The second injection in the shoulder had completely different results. No shoulder pain, but it increases intercostal muscle pain, back pain, abdomen pain, and leg spasticity from multiple sclerosis. The doctor was unaware of these documented potential side effects and offered no help. Bad doctor, worse drug."

For Osteoarthritis "Had injection to right thumb on 3/1/17 for stiffness. As an adverse reaction, I've already lost 75% of my hair! If it ever stops falling, it will take years to restore! This medication is poison and should be taken off the market. I contacted Bristol-Myers Squibb, and they have no comment to offer regarding my complaint. I am looking for an attorney!"

For Lupus "Wonderful. Lupus flare. My joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons were hurting tired, achy, and so on. Doctor gave me a Kenalog shot in my hip. Within 24 hours, a bit better. Within 4 days, so much better. Reduced inflammatory issues and pain. Even my sciatica pain was greatly reduced. Much better and easier than increasing my maintenance Prednisone by mouth and then having to take weeks to cut down 1/2 mg a week... takes forever. Great idea to use the Kenalog shot to break the flare.!!!"

For Inflammatory Conditions "I've been getting injections in my bilateral SI's (low back) due to nerve pain from herniated discs in my lower back. For at least 3 years, every 6 weeks. They have been tremendously helpful, or so I thought. I'm currently having to treat with a specialist (endocrinologist) for focus on my extremely low cortisol and ACTH levels. I had no idea that this was even a possibility. Not sure how to even move forward at this point. I have no idea what other options I have. Very scared."

For Osteoarthritis "I got the injection into my knee 10 days ago. Initially, I had significant burning pain and pressure in my knee for 3 days. This has resolved, and now I have severe hamstring tendinitis with difficulty doing stairs and walking up hills. I’m sorry I even got this injection, my discomfort is so much worse than I was at baseline."

For Keloids "It worked for me for the moment. I got injected for over a year, and the keloids got red and came back bigger. I got a big one on my chest and three on my back. And now, when I get a pimple or a small scratch, they turned to keloids after years later with no injections. I guess since it's in my body, the scars turned red and now are getting bigger, and these two new ones were never injected. It sucks I'm 36 and they don't stop growing."

For Osteoarthritis "Received drug Zilretta about 15 days ago. It was fabulous these last 12 days! Climbed steps, played with 8 yr old grandson in yard, just generally moved beautifully! Gradually, the pain has returned. Don’t know why, don’t know if I did something wrong, but those first 12-14 days were awesome! Glad it helps others."

For Osteoarthritis "PLEASE, PLEASE do some research before getting this injection. I just had it today, 7/28/21, and it was a nightmare. It was a really painful injection, then, when I got off the exam table, I could barely walk. I told the nurse that I couldn't walk to my car, and she said to sit in the waiting area for a few minutes. Within 2 to 3 minutes, I started feeling really ill, so I called them for help. I broke out in a dripping sweat, hyperventilated, vomited a lot, and had diarrhea all over myself. They said they didn't think it was an allergic reaction but suggested that I might want to go to the ER and get checked out. I did not want to go to the ER due to the COVID numbers being up, and I would sit there for hours. It's been several hours now, and I still feel dizzy and queasy. I will call 911 if I have to. This is the last Zilretta injection that I will ever take. I am taking Augmentin but had not had one this morning. I told them this before the injection."

For Sarcoidosis "For the last three years, I have had lower back pain that went down into both right and left buttocks and into my right hip. I was finally referred to the radiology department, and they gave me an injection into both SI joints. After three days, the constant pain and spasms went away that were in my lower back and that went down into my buttocks and into my hip. It was absolutely wonderful to be able to sleep, walk without limping and hurting, and my attitude and energy level became more positive. To be rid of the constant chronic pain that never went away, day and night, was a blessing! The injection has lasted 1 1/2 months, and now I am starting to hurt again. I would recommend an injection for pain."

For Osteoarthritis "I have been suffering from severe ITB pain following a hip revision 6 months ago. My doctor ordered an MRI, which revealed mild arthritis and a partial meniscus tear in my knee on the same leg. I had no knee pain whatsoever, only IT band. He suggested Zilretta. My ITB is so irritated I can barely walk. It's also affected my back, hamstrings, and tendons. It's been 6 weeks of misery on top of what was already bad. Big mistake."

For Allergic Reactions "I have used it for almost 8 years. I take one almost every month for treating a chronic skin disease, but it is unfortunate that recently I have been experiencing frequent urination at night, loss of weight. Yet the skin rash keeps on coming on a monthly interval after administration. I have observed unstable blood sugar. I can say that it works effectively for just a month interval."

For Osteoarthritis "If this steroid didn’t exist, I’d be completely messed up. My basal joint is swollen and feels like ground glass until I get my next shot... after that, it’s calm and I can grip again. Don't even get me started on what it does for trochanteric bursitis and facet joints. If it wasn't for Kenalog... I'd have no purpose and no use for this world."

For Osteoarthritis "Pain relief was substantial following an injection in each knee in July 2022 and lasted approximately 4 weeks. Unfortunately, I had very noticeable mood side effects - which has occurred previously when taking steroids. Pain returned, and 2 months post-injections, my knee pain is significantly worse than before, as well as more clicking/popping in my knees. I can barely ascend/descend stairs much of the time. Did not work and was a huge mistake for me."
