For Insomnia "Just prescribed trazodone for severe insomnia. First night took 75 mg, immediate and deep sleep till morning, but what I would call a hangover effect for the rest of the day. Woke up with a severe cramp in the calf muscle. Headache, eyeballs hurt oddly enough, tired throughout the day, etc. Last night took perhaps 30 mg, which took longer for sleep, but it still worked for the insomnia, but again a heavy sense of hangover and fatigue throughout the day. Crampy calves. The doctor says these side effects should subside within a week, but I'm not sure. So my take on it is that it works really well for insomnia, but the side effects during the day, if they continue, are totally not worth it. Basic waste of an entire day. There's enough variety in the comments I have read that I may keep giving it a try for a time. I find a variety of responses to it kind of strange and interesting."

For Insomnia "I’ve been on this med since around October 2020. It has its good and bad sides. Really bad dry mouth is like a default you need to agree to. It doesn’t get better, lol. However, it’s the only thing that has helped me achieve a natural-like sleep that doesn’t induce heavy sedation. You might feel groggy or tired throughout the day at first, but it gets better. Other than dry mouth and some tiredness, it’s pretty decent."

For Insomnia "I was put on 50 mg trazodone for insomnia, but it was not working well, so my doctor put it up to 100 mg. It really makes me sleep, but sometimes (most times) I wake up with a splitting headache and lethargic for the day. So I am going to stop using it and really concentrate on a routine to help me get to sleep."

For Insomnia "After a bad accident, I have been having awful insomnia. My doctor recommended trazodone for my insomnia. He also insisted that it may help me with my severe depression. So I was prescribed trazodone 50 mg. Despite positive reviews on this sleep aid, I had a horrible experience on trazodone. I only took trazodone for one night and stopped altogether with trazodone. I don't personally recommend this. It was literally the worst trip ever. I felt like I was in a horror film with Freddy Krueger. I could not sleep. My head was spinning out of control. I am so surprised I did not shit in my pants. I was so exhausted and paranoid that night. I felt worse the next day, my heart and head were racing, and I was irritable. I switched over to melatonin."

For Insomnia "I have been taking this medication for the last 3-4 days for my ongoing sleeping problems. I was taking various other sleeping medications in the past, and I recently saw my psych doctor, and he wanted me to try trazodone out again. I started off at 300 mg, and that was way too much, so they cut the dose down to 150 milligrams at bedtime, and usually after 30-45 minutes after taking it, I am so tired I have to go to bed."

For Anxiety "I took this yesterday afternoon for extreme anxiety and restlessness. After 20 minutes, it kicked in and I felt extremely irritable and annoyed, so sleepy I couldn’t keep my eyes open. I had this constant feeling of needing to move, but I was freaking EXHAUSTED at the same time! I took 9 naps yesterday evening, including sleep, and I also dozed off while trying to make coffee. It’s been 13 hours, and I still feel insanely tired. I won’t take trazodone ever AGAIN!!! 2/10 for calming my anxiety down somewhat."

"I have been taking trazodone for 2 days now for my nightmares. So far, I get great sleep with no nightmares. I feel tired for most of the day, but we'll see what tomorrow will be like. Other than that, it works great and helps with my anxiety."

For Insomnia "Here’s the thing: I tried trazodone after taking temazepam for severe insomnia, and it just cannot compare. This drug makes you sedated in a “I can’t move” kind of way and not at all sedated in a “I’m so sleepy” kind of way. Additionally, while it mildly helped me sleep (not as well as temazepam), I was much more tired the day after taking it than the night of, leaving me wanting to nap anywhere and everywhere during the day... overall, it does make you sedated, but not the way I needed."

Trazodone "I suffered very severe anxiety after COVID-19, and still have long COVID symptoms. My doctor prescribed trazodone 100 mg. In the first night, I couldn't sleep and felt restless, but surprisingly in the morning I felt no anxiety, like it killed it. Much better than Xanax, but the side effects were bad: sleepy, tiredness."

For Headache "I had a horrible headache the entire next day. Also felt tired and out of it. I’d rather deal with being tired from no sleep than the way this drug made me feel the next day."

For Depression "I'm 17, female, and am on 400 mg of trazodone now. I used to take 100 mg in the morning for my anxiety, but it made me more tired in the mornings. That's the only side effect I have had. I'm now on 350 mg at night to help with my insomnia and 50 mg in the morning to help with anxieties. It helps with sleep and anxieties but not with my depression, unfortunately."
