"I was prescribed Tramadol 100 mg ER for osteoarthritis of the spine, after 3 rear-end collisions and being kicked in the gut by a PT with combat boots. It did take the pain away for me, and I do believe now that it changes your mood for the better! I was taken off of it because I was to have surgery per pain management. I had a second opinion for back surgery to make sure I was doing the right thing. Back pain definitely became unbearable without Tramadol! The pain doctor allowed me to have some, then for 2 months, I didn't get medication! The second doctor opinion said I had 'soft bones' and to have my doctor put me back on Tramadol because the surgery wouldn't take! I canceled my surgery and told my pain doctor that I was told to go back on them because I can't have surgery! After restarting Tramadol, they weren't working for my pain. The pain doctor was decreasing the percentage of Tramadol, I believe because I was getting itchy skin and had this before due to fillers in drugs! So, I still want to get surgery but need pain relief until then!"

"The first 3 days I took Tramadol Hcl tablets, 1/2 tablet in the morning and the other half at night, as per my doctor's orders. They were 50 mg tablets. Had a slight adverse reaction the second time they were prescribed for me, so had to go slow. Most of the pain disappeared for those 3 days. On the fourth day, I took my usual dose-1/2 of a 50 mg tablet with a full glass of water, as usual. Within a few hours, I began to experience some of the side effects listed: nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, headaches, itchiness, upset stomach, and lightheadedness. I also had a few extra side effects: constant belching, acid reflux, and shortness of breath. These events lasted for several hours."

"I was prescribed Tramadol 50 mg but found it not very effective and only for a short duration. Doctor switched me to 100 mg ER, which is supposed to be effective for up to 24 hours, but it starts to wear off after about 4 hours and seems ineffective after 8 hours. I supplement it with Tylenol Arthritis Strength ER, as the doctor suggested. I can't use NSAIDs as I'm taking Eliquis or I'd use Advil, which provided better pain relief than Tylenol."

"Works well for low-grade back pain. For sciatica, you need something stronger plus an anti-inflammatory like Motrin or Celebrex."

"I’m a college student. I have severe scoliosis in my back and need surgery kind of soon :( My doctor prescribed me Tramadol recently due to chronic back pain. I currently take 50 mg three times a day for moderate pain. Sometimes more. My pain still exists slightly, but my depression is killed by the Tramadol :) I feel energetic and motivated compared to before. I don’t seem to mind the back pain even though it’s still noticeable. Tramadol is the ultimate pain relief combo for me. However, I experienced withdrawal symptoms, which included vomiting, restless leg syndrome, tiredness, chills, and profuse sweating. Felt like a fever! Tramadol is great when you’re on it, but really hard when you stop. The only other side effect I hated was severe constipation. No joke, worst of my life. In conclusion, Tramadol helped me a lot for my chronic pain, but surprisingly useful for elevating my mood. I would have highly recommended Tramadol if getting off this drug was easier!"
