"I have had fibromyalgia since childhood, and it has been a real battle trying to find a medication that works for the pain. If I only take one tramadol, the pain goes down quite a bit to where I'm comfortable. When I have an increase in pain, then I need two and usually have to take a nap as my fatigue gets the better of me. The tramadol works great."

"I have always known there was something wrong with my muscles, all my life as far back as I can remember. There were (and still are but not as often) days that I awoke and felt like I had run a marathon or been beaten up. I moved like an 80-year-old with bad joints. I came across tramadol by accident for a knee injury. After a few days on it, I realized that I had been sleeping wonderfully and woken up refreshed and feeling good. I spoke with my MD, and he stated that tramadol is the original Fibromyalgia medicine. After an assessment, he kept me on it to see what would happen. Luckily, I only have to take it once a day (at night) or every other day. Wonderful little pill!"

"I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia a year ago. I was happy to have found the problem for all my symptoms and slightly relieved that it wasn't all in my head! Explaining to family, friends, and my partner has been difficult, some are still ignoring it, and others are Googling it, trying to be supportive, which is nice. I was taking the usual codeine since I was 19 (now 22), but the pain became worse, partly due to my full-time job, personal stresses, etc. So, of course, I went back and was prescribed tramadol. I instantly panicked, thinking this is a couple of steps away from morphine, but I decided to try two 50 mg tablets. Well, I felt weird and hyper, like I wanted to clean the house from top to bottom! Despite still having slight pain, I felt better about it anyway. I now take one each morning to get up!"

"I started taking tramadol for chronic back pain 4 years ago. I noticed it helped my fibromyalgia right away. Many doctors have told me that it doesn't work with fibromyalgia, but my new PCP has me on 100 mg ER 24 hour for my fibromyalgia, and it's working fine along with my gabapentin. Without the tramadol, I can barely move, it is my wonder drug. Withdrawals from it are intense."

"Couldn't live without it. I find it very helpful for fibro pain and also for fatigue. I can still work part-time thanks to tramadol. On the other hand, I am so hooked on it, no idea how my brain chemistry will do without it. And not willing to find out. My only worry is that one day it won't be marketed or prescribed. Best wishes to you all!!"

"I am a male, diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia. I was prescribed a number of medications, some of which were Cymbalta, Naproxen, and Tramadol, of which only Tramadol seems to take the edge off some of the overall body pain I have. Tramadol makes me very drowsy, but I rarely get a good night's sleep. I'm at my wit's end from this experience and don't know what else to do. I try to exercise when I have the energy and feel okay when I do. But I have to rest, sometimes spending a whole day in bed, trying to recuperate. It's very hard to keep positive, but I try my best."

"I've tried gabapentin, Cymbalta (not bad & not good), clonazepam for sleeping and relaxing, and many other drugs. None of them was helping me. Now I take tramadol 50 mg every day. It just helps me to keep my normal life. With a higher dose, the pain completely goes away, but I have other side effects. If you decide to use this drug, keep the low dose. I hoped I could find a better way because when I take my pill, I can't have dairy because it takes the effect of the drugs down. I hope you all get better soon with no pain and no drugs."

"I have had chronic joint pain for as long as I can remember and used to eat OTC meds like aspirin/Tylenol like candy to reduce the pain, but it just gradually worsened over time. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and the start of osteoarthritis in most of my joints. I also suffer from restless leg syndrome. To my surprise, when I went into the hospital to have a heart valve replacement and bypass surgery, I was given tramadol for the pain during my recovery, and I noted that about 95% of my pain from the above-mentioned fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis was relieved as well, along with the restless leg syndrome, which disappeared completely. I continue to take one tablet daily at about 6 pm, and I now feel much better and sleep like a baby at night."

Tramadol "My rheumatologist started me on Ultram a few weeks ago. I also take Zoloft. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia approximately 10 years ago and have tried several medicines. My rheumatologist was concerned about my long-term use of Tylenol and Advil on my kidneys and liver and said this would be easier on my body. It has helped a lot. I have much more energy and much reduced pain. It helps me go to work regularly and have a life with my family, but if I miss a dose, I am really moody and weepy, so everyone knows when I haven't had it. I like it so far."

"I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia during my junior year of high school when I was 16 years old. I am now 20. Since then, I have been on every medication imaginable, seriously no joke. The one medicine that never failed me and always helped with managing my pain was tramadol. I live by it, especially during the winter months. I have been on Lyrica, and it worked, but on doses above 100 mg, you gain an extreme amount of weight very quickly, I went from 160 to 210 lbs due to it. However, I recommend gabapentin if you need another pain medicine that is a nerve relaxant and that helped a bit with the pain."

"Tramadol has been a lifesaver for my pain. I do have some unpleasant side effects, but overall it has helped with my fibromyalgia pain and other issues regarding the spine, back, and leg. I have taken it for a long time, but I had to switch doctors, and she would not renew the script. My pain increased so much I was in tears, any replacement did not work. My pain management doctor just recently prescribed it for me again. He is awesome. I had to sign an opioid contract and take a pee test. Doctors are hesitant to prescribe opioids because so many people become addicted or abuse pain medication. I could write a book about all the pain issues I have, I have a high sensitivity to all medications, but I just want you to know that my experience with tramadol has been positive."

"I have had fibro for about 6 years and have been prescribed a variety of different meds to try. None of them helped. Then, after phoning the doctor in tears with pain, I was prescribed Tramadol 50 mg. I was nervous to take it, as the doctor said it can be addictive, but I decided to try, and it is the best medication I've tried for fibro. I do not take it every day, I only take it when I am having a really bad day with pain, and it really helps the pain. Sometimes I go days or weeks without taking it. I don't feel remotely addicted."

"I have been suffering from extreme back pain, neck pain, and my legs and buttocks become numb after lying down for too long. The pain spread to my spine and my arms for two years. They finally diagnosed me with fibromyalgia. I have tried so many medications: Percocet, morphine, Butrans patch, but none of these worked very well. I had to stop working because the pain is so bad. Some days I struggle to get out of bed. I find that tramadol works very well. It doesn't take all my pain away but makes it tolerable. I recently was put on Zytram ER, which is the long-acting tramadol, but I have to find the right dose. But I am optimistic because I have had good results with tramadol."

"For me, Ultram (Tramadol), combined with Neurontin (Gabapentin) and Elavil (Amitriptyline), works wonders for my fibromyalgia. Take away any one of these, and my quality of life plummets downward. I have a multitude of symptoms. These are lifesaving drugs for me. Without them, I have so much more acute and widespread lingering pain, numbness, creepy crawlies, itching, fatigue, and depression that I need mobility assistance (arm cuff crutches) and get little sleep from my symptoms keeping me awake. Unfortunately, the individuals who have abused these lifesaving drugs, along with the government blanketing all with the potential abuse of these drugs, have caused so many to suffer at great cost. My insurance company has recently decided that I do not have enough diagnostic criteria to warrant paying for Tramadol. It is not an expensive drug, so I am able to pay for it out of pocket...at least for now, anyway."

"I have had fibromyalgia and many other health issues for the last 13 years. Being passed off from Dr. to Dr., none of them knowing how to treat my pain. I have been on tramadol for about 1 year now and called the Dr. today, and the RN says she is not going to refill it anymore for me, and she will not do any more back injections for me. I had 34 in the past 13 years, and she wants me to go to pain management for ketamine infusions. I am very upset, I spent well over 2 years and over 2 grand with this NP with zero help. If your MD is going to have you see an NP for a serious pain problem, PLEASE DO NOT waste time with an NP. Go to a real pain management Dr. right off the bat. I am very disappointed in all the Dr.s I have now seen with zero relief. I don't know what is ahead of me, and I am very scared. I suffered for 13 years. May God bless and heal all of you reading this. It is a horrible way to live your life, suffering in pain every second of your life."

"I've not been able to take any of the newer fibro meds. The side effects and reactions were terrible. My doctor is very good to try old-school for me whenever I ask her. First, we tried amitriptyline with no help at all and increased my brain fog. After reading great reviews on here concerning tramadol, we tried that. I had almost immediate results. I've been on it about 2-3 months now and doing very well. It doesn't totally remove the pain, but does take the edge off to help quite a bit. It has also been a great sleep aid if taken about two hours before bedtime. As others have said, I did wake with a headache for the first 3-5 days, but then they stopped. I have zero bad side effects and love being able to take this great old-school med :)"

"Helped me for 20 years, low dosage, fibromyalgia. Withdrawals if you try to stop, like flu and restless legs. So much pain before this treatment. Other meds did nothing and made things worse. Too bad it’s being abused by people and hard to get."

"Tramadol gave me moderate pain relief, however, it was excellent for my depression/anxiety. Lost 2 kilos in 2 weeks, which is great too, because I was a little overweight due to amitriptyline, and extra pounds are always bad when we are talking about pain. Stopped working after 2 months."

"My doctor prescribed Tramadol for my fibromyalgia, which I have had for 20 years, about 8 months ago. Over the years, the symptoms have lessened, but some days it is just hard to get up: pain, achy, foggy-headed. I tried the Tramadol, and it killed the pain almost immediately, plus it had an unexpected extra bonus. I have had a lot of foot pain for many years and sometimes could barely hobble around, the pain was gone. I could actually put on shoes and not be in misery. I'm going to London in a few weeks and now don't worry about the tours and being in pain. This medicine is my lifesaver. I have had two bad experiences with it, though both drug interactions with allergy medications: sweating, headache, and vomiting. Take it alone."

Tramadol "I have been using Ultram (tramadol) for over 8 years for my fibromyalgia pain. I started on it for a shoulder and neck injury, and it worked so great that I have been able to stay on it. In those 8 years, I have actually lowered my dose by less than half and get through a day on 75 mg. It keeps me working. I cannot take it late in the day or it keeps me from sleeping well. If you are in pain, on moderate to bad days, I suggest you try it in moderate levels. It will not help for headaches for me. Stopping taking it will produce withdrawal symptoms after some time. Be prepared to go through a miserable, cranky day. Good luck, and feel well."

"I have to say so far this has really helped my fibromyalgia and unexpectedly seems to be helping my treatment-resistant depression. For the last 5 years, I've also been suffering from PTSD after my fiancé died. I've been diagnosed also with lupus and diverticulosis. Most days before starting on tramadol, I felt like one day just passed in misery between constant pain, burning nerves, cramped muscles, and bad sleep. At first, when taking it once a day for 4 days, I felt agitated, weepy, etc. However, I'd taken it before (dentist appointment) and was fine. So, I checked the brand (Actavis) and sure enough, the following month I made sure to get a different brand and NOW I'm much better, happier, like a normal person!!! Thank God! I hope it continues!"

"I was prescribed tramadol as a pain relief option for fibromyalgia. Works nicely for mild to moderate pain, but noticed it had many other benefits. Tramadol is the only thing I have found that helps my chronic fatigue somewhat, as well as anxiety and depression. Additionally, I am calmer and more focused, so it helps with ADD, and there is more. I am more creative on this medication, and while taking it for pain when I had a head cold, I noticed that it literally alleviates all cold symptoms! If you take this while you have a cold, when it is in your system you feel completely fine, better than any over-the-counter decongestant I have tried in my life. And all this is on a very low dose, most days I take 75 mg total."

Tramadol "I was previously diagnosed with lupus after a few miscarriages. Now, for the past 16 years, I have been treated for fibromyalgia. I've been on Ultram for 15 years. I take 1 to 1 and 1/2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours, 3 times a day. It has enabled me to stay working full-time outside the home with very few side effects. I can always tell if I forget to take them, as I start feeling the joint pain really badly and have no energy. It has been an absolute lifesaver for me."

"I've been taking tramadol 50 mg once daily for a week now; I suffer from chronic pain from fibromyalgia and a few injuries. My pain was becoming a hindering problem in my life; I also suffer from depression, anxiety, and debilitating symptoms at times! I was willing to try anything; I thought I had tried everything! I always didn't feel right, side effects, etc.! But my fibro MD asked me if I wanted to try tramadol; I can say overall in the first few hours of taking it, I felt a sense of relief and happiness. I also suffer from PTSD and MDD, so it seems to help with that as well. I sometimes pop a couple of Motrin to just take the edge off, but not nearly as much, thank God! I think I'm slowly getting my life back!"

"This tramadol has been a godsend for my fibro. My doc originally prescribed this to me for bursitis in my hip. To my surprise, it helped more for my fibro symptoms. I'm 40 and have had symptoms since my late teens. My doc was surprised when I told her it's helping more than anything ever has. She said it usually makes fibro worse. As I read some of the positive comments, I can totally relate. It makes me not think about the pain and gives me energy and also helps with my depression sometimes. The only thing I don't like that I have noticed is around 6 hours after taking it, it makes me very drowsy and fuzzy. There are times, though, it keeps me awake too. Some days I only take half. Also, I found that if I have to clean or work on a project, I take it before I start, because I know my body and I will be hurting if I don't."
