Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "I started taking Mounjaro 2.5 mg in March of this year (2024). Every month, my doctor increased my dose to the next level. I was put on the medication to help with my A1C because it would go up and down but not at a normal number. After 3 months, it went from a 7 to 4.5. I was so happy with the result. I am currently on 15 mg and I am down 50 lbs (over 6 months) and A1C is staying at 4.5. My original goal was 30 lbs by September and 60 by next March. I am so excited that I am already close to my year weight goal loss. The only side effects that I have had were the sulfur burps, which I figured out how to control and prevent and stop. And occasional constipation, which I just increased fiber intake to help. Everyone's experience is different. I went into taking it and researching all the side effects and being careful. I am thankful to my doctor for helping me, and I am happy with the results so far."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "I am just getting back on after having to quit for hip joint replacement surgery. I am up to 7 mg now. My daily glucose level is going down. I’ve had some weight loss. But the side effects are discouraging. Excessive gas, burping, bloating, diarrhea, and fluttering inside my chest. These symptoms last 2 or 3 days after injection. I am going to continue injections in the hope the side effects get better."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started Zepbound for my first time 6 days ago and will be giving my 2nd injection tomorrow. So far, I lost 7 lbs in 6 days. I was fine the first day, the next few days I had nasty burping for a few days. I don't feel as hungry as I used to. I also eat less. I do go to the gym or try to walk at least 30 mins a day as I have young children. So far, I'm loving it. I'm at 2.5 mg and will be calling my provider when I do my 3rd injection to up my dose."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have had zero issues with the drug when I do right. If I overeat, I have diarrhea and sulfur burps for sure. When I start my day with protein and coffee, and drink lots of water, I have zero issues. But if I mess up like I did this week (ate breakfast, lunch, happy hour, snacked), I was up all night in a world of hurt, and I still haven't fully recovered. I haven't noticed a significant weight loss in 5 weeks (10 pounds), but it’s been steady. Just DO NOT OVEREAT and drink plenty of water."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "I have been a type 2 diabetic for about 15 years. Worked hard to bring my A1c down with carb reduction and exercise. I track my 24-hour average glucose twice a day when I take my medications and track that number in a spreadsheet. I use a CGM. With the very first injection, I was able to detect a noticeable drop in my glucose numbers within 5 hours of the first injection. My 24-hour average glucose reading has dropped from 140 mg/dL to 110 mg/dL partway through the 2nd injection. I have not seen my glucose readings this good in years. My current tracking spreadsheet goes back to May of 2024. The doctor suggested this drug to see if weight loss induction might occur and help me become strictly diet controlled. During the first 2 weeks, I have been able to eliminate extended-release metformin from my medications. Some mild stomach pain and belching were initially present, but those have passed."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "I started Mounjaro in March 2024 at 193 pounds and an A1C of 12.3. For almost 11 years as a type 1 diabetic. By July 2024, I was down to 153 pounds and an A1C of 7.75. I started off with the two, then went to the five, then to the seven, then to the 10. But after being on a 10, I started back developing an appetite, however, I exercised at least two hours per day faithfully in the gym. When I was on the number five, I had diarrhea a lot. When I made it to the 10, I just had a lot of belching, burping, saying that the 10 wasn’t doing much, I was still at like 150. I was bumped up to the number 12, and Lord have mercy on my soul. It almost took me out of here! I lost weight too fast. I got down to 116 pounds. I couldn’t. I didn’t have any desire to eat. I didn’t have any desire to drink. I would forget that I hadn’t been drinking anything. I would forget that I didn’t eat anything, and I’m still going to the gym every single day. It was until I dehydrated twice that I..."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "Type 2 - I had been on Ozempic. It made me vomit/diarrhea, had Charley horses and hand tremors, and I was belching acid. After 3 months, my Endo switched me to Mounjaro, stating it was stronger, but many people tolerate it better. Week one, I was sick six days. All the same symptoms I had on Ozempic, only more severe. Heart rate 15 beats higher per minute. Week two, I was sick five days. Week three, within 12 hours, all the same symptoms began, and more. The vomiting was severe (mouth and nose). The belching was rank smelling/tasting. Diarrhea. My appetite was definitely curbed. My belly sounded like a flood of water flowing through my innermost pipes but felt numb. Eyes were so dry. My watch alerted me that at night my respiration rate was dipping to 7.5. (Did not even know my watch tracked that!) My heart rate dipped to 45. My blood sugar went to 43. Felt like I was not going to breathe or control peeing. And more! Day five, I ended up in the hospital in AFIB with a high heart rate. ICU."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "I was on the 2.5 mg dose initially. I had redness at the injection site, which went down after a couple of months, although it didn’t go away entirely. When they upped my dose to 5 mgs, I had sulfur burps for about a week. I was on it for four months, and I lost 23 pounds without exercising. It took about a month to see any change in weight. It brought my A1C down to pre-diabetes levels. I am going back on it again, but once I hit my goal weight of 128, I’ll probably stop it. My only negative besides the side effects is the injection tip mechanism gets stuck, and then you can’t put it back to save and try again, then all of a sudden, it decides to release and squirts all over."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "There are pros and cons to every medication that you take. Zepbound does help with weight loss. Your appetite decreases, but you can and will have GI side effects: constipation, gas, abdominal pain with overeating, belching, and nausea. Cutting back on carbonated beverages, eating small meals, and increasing protein and fiber is key. Adding nausea medication and Gas-X helps."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on Mounjaro to help lose weight for 8 weeks, 4 at 2.5 mg & 4 at 5 mg and have not lost weight, no appetite suppression at all. I can't tell I'm taking anything at all other than burping, acid reflux, and stomach pain through the night after eating."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am 45 years old and female. I have been on Zepbound for eight months. I started at 275 lbs and am now at 235 lbs. The day after I first took it, my stomach was so full it hurt, just from my normal portion sizes. Over time, the dosage has increased to 7.5. I am a little more tired than usual, but that's a small price to pay. The vast majority of side effects occur when I overeat. There's no way to know which of these I will have then: pain in my stomach, egg burps, loud flatulence, and/or diarrhea. I have been sick a lot more than usual, along with swollen lymph nodes and hoarseness, but there's no way to know if they're related or not."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been on Mounjaro for almost a year. Started at 194 lbs, now averaging 145-150 lbs. In the beginning, I had the usual gastro effects - upset stomach, diarrhea, and no appetite even for water. Despite eating low calories, I lost slowly, about 1 lb a week. I had no energy to work out. If I tried staying on lower doses to minimize side effects, then the appetite would come back. After a few months, the gastro effects mostly went away, and I am left with sulfur burps, fatigue, irritability, and a general meh attitude about everything. I am someone who I would say has an addictive personality, and addiction runs in my family, and this drug works on your reward systems as well, so I’m not surprised it takes away my motivation. Despite the bad, it’s the only thing that has worked for me for weight loss. Currently, I take the injection every 14 days to minimize side effects and also to keep it affordable. Doing this keeps me at the weight I’m at, which I would like to be about 10 pounds less."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I’ve been on Zepbound since 8/1/24 (305 lbs, 5’6). So far, I lost 65 lbs, I’m 45 lbs away from my goal. My current dose is 10 mg. I experience side effects within 24 hours of injection administration, ranging from nausea, vomiting, belching, diarrhea, abdominal pain, fatigue, and dizziness. The side effects last about 24-36 hours. The medication definitely decreases my appetite and cravings. My doctor stopped my BP medication as I continue losing weight and my BP readings are good. My husband has noticed that I stopped snoring, lol. My plan is to reach my weight goal and stop the medication. I have changed my relationship with food. I look at food more as fuel for my body instead of indulging and overeating. I also introduced portion control and exercise, mostly walking and swimming. My insurance covers the medication."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "My doctor put me on Mounjaro to help control my newly diagnosed type two diabetes and A1c levels. I am overweight starting around 280 pounds when I began taking the medication. I’ve only been on the medication for two weeks and not due for my first round of blood tests for another month. Already in the short amount of time, I have lost 6 pounds. With the starting dose, I am having several of the side effects most commonly associated with this medication, to include belching, reflux, extreme feeling of fullness, flatulence, and the total lack of appetite. From what I read, the side effects should subside, and I’m glad I did research prior to going on this medication to fully understand how my body may react. I would not consider discontinuing the medication even though the early side effects are annoying, but I’m hoping that as time goes on, it will get better. I am most pleasantly surprised by the rapid weight loss."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "I experienced some nausea, had severe stomach pains at times, vomiting, indigestion, and terrible sulfur burps. The appetite suppression is amazing, as I felt like a normal person not feeling hungry all the time. After my 2nd shot and even worse side effects, I told my doctor I noticed my eyes had jaundice, so he told me to stop taking it. It did lower my blood sugar levels, and I'm so disappointed my body couldn't tolerate this medication, as it would have helped me lose weight."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I’ve lost about a pound per week, starting with the smallest dose and leveling up every month. I started at 187 pounds and am down to 172. Side effects: constipation, belching, and fatigue (probably due to not eating enough). I like the pens and got over my fear of the needle. Sometimes it leaves a red welt in my tummy, but not usually. The worst part about it is the cost. My insurance doesn’t cover it, even though I was obese, had pre-diabetes, and sleep apnea (which I didn’t have when I was thinner). Imagine how many health issues could be solved if people could use this to lose weight."

Tirzepatide for Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started taking Mounjaro on September 1, 2022. My starting weight was 192 lbs, I'm 38 years old and 5'3". By February 2023, I weighed in at 135 lbs. I experience severe nausea, sour stomach, sulfur burps, and constipation on every dose I was on. I was only able to go to 5 mg, as 7.5 mg about done me in. I went back to the 5 mg. I've always been active, worked out, etc., but after a few life events, I struggled to lose 10 lbs! This was a game changer for me. It quieted the food noise, the cravings, etc. I was able to eat just a few bites of whatever meal and then done. I didn't want to eat! My nighttime snacking is gone. I didn't even like the smell of McDonald's french fries. Now, my mom tried it also, but she never had any of the horrible symptoms, and the food noise quieted a little bit. She got up to 7.5 mg but couldn't get anything in stock for the 10 mg. She didn't lose the significant weight that I did and has now switched to Ozempic due to stock issues."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "Mounjaro worked well in the beginning. My BGL was lower, and I lost weight. After about 18 months, the control of my BGL was not as consistent. I experienced nausea and loss of appetite from the beginning, but that lessened over time. Recently, I have begun to experience severe diarrhea and belching for several days after taking a shot."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am a doctor and was hoping I could use this Mounjaro for my patients - thought I would try it first. Began with 2.5 mg for four weeks. Very bothersome reflux and was popping Rolaids. I lost 7 lbs in the first month. My doc increased me to 5 mg, and I did OK for the first two shots. On the third injection, I developed sulfur burps and diarrhea. After the fourth shot - I developed gastroparesis (stomach not emptying at all), profound nausea, dehydration, and I am very gassy. I have not been able to function for 5 days. Praying I am better tomorrow as I have a shift in the ED. Not sure about prescribing this based on my own experience."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Male, 81 years old. 6'2'. Ended first 28 days of Zepbound 2.5 today. Starting weight 268.4 lbs. Today, 254.4 lbs. (-14 lbs.) Works as advertised. Much reduced appetite, minimal side effects. Primarily constipation, easily fatigued, burps. All manageable. Will start Zepbound 5.0 today. Downside is cost. Since I don't have other contributing medical conditions, insurance won't cover it. A grand a month is tough, but at my age, I figure my health and well-being is more important than my bank account. Will see how month two goes, then decide on future usage."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started the 2.5 Mounjaro injection prescribed by my doctor a week ago to help lose weight. I was happy that the injection was super easy and didn’t hurt at all. The first 2 days I felt great! I had zero appetite, even on the first day, and had to force myself to eat. By the 3rd day… it was a nightmare! I had nonstop diarrhea, the kind you get with colonoscopy prep stuff! I also experienced horrible, sulfur-like belching, especially when getting up in the morning, and had extreme pain in my lower back. Then, last night, I had extremely forceful vomiting, which is crazy because I don’t really have anything in my system! I still have the horrible diarrhea 7 days later, also pretty extreme fatigue, slight heartburn, and a nauseated feeling. I am just praying this stuff gets out of my system ASAP! I just wish someone could tell me how long before I feel better! I will not be using the rest of my Mounjaro injections after the experience I’ve had this first week."

The sulfur burps lasted a few months and were disgusting. No nausea or vomiting. Moved to 5.0 mg for two months and lost 5 lbs. Sulfur burps a problem for the first month. Second month of tirzepatide, no side effects, but no weight loss. I plan on asking for an increased dosage. Good drug and helps food not seem attractive."

Tirzepatide for Type 2 Diabetes "I was started on Mounjaro at the end of Jan 2023. My A1C was 10, and I am 41, about 5 ft 9 in. I weighed about 350 lbs. I had no energy, had sleep apnea, hurt all the time, and could not even walk without running out of breath. I was miserable. Finally, I talked to my doctor, and she decided to try me on this. After a little struggle getting insurance to cover it and get the med in stock at my pharmacy, I got going on this new journey. About 2 months in, I started having major diarrhea and vomiting. Had to take a break for a week and then started doing my injections in my thighs instead of my belly, and that has made it a lot more bearable. I do still get diarrhea and sulfur burps for 3, sometimes 4 days after my shot, but nothing major. Now my A1C is 6, my blood glucose averages 75, and I am weighing in at 270 lbs. I can walk now without running out of breath and without being in major pain. I have made other changes, such as watching what I eat, stopping drinking soda, and started trying to walk."
