For Type 2 Diabetes "I've been on Mounjaro for about 6 months now. I'm taking it for type 2 diabetes, and I needed to lose some weight also. At first, I had no side effects at all. However, in the past month, I've started going through quite a few. I'm currently on 7.5mg, and this is where my effects started. My appetite has gone from healthy to almost nonexistent, I'm always nauseous and now have low blood pressure. The good thing about it is that my A1c has drastically dropped from 11.9 to 6.5, which is really great. I'm getting blood glucose readings under 110, and before I started this medicine, I couldn't get my glucose under 280 on a good day. I'm currently seeing an endocrinologist and also a nutritionist who is awesome. My doctor says 7.5mg might be where I need to stay for a while, especially until my stomach adjusts to it. I wish it would hurry because I believe that Mounjaro is the best thing that was ever prescribed for me. I was previously on Bydurion (B-cise) for over 2 years, and it didn't help."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I had my three doses in three weeks, 5 mg each dose. I lost around 4-5 kg already. I never felt any nausea as I did with Ozempic or Saxenda. I had Ozempic and Saxenda for more than two years, and I didn't have any weight loss. With Mounjaro, I have already lost weight without any change in diet and activity (I had a good diet and activity before as well when I was taking Ozempic/Saxenda, but I didn’t have any weight loss). I feel very good, so I will continue the treatment."

"I’m on 5 mg, and the good news is I am not hungry at all, as a matter of fact, the thought of food makes me sick. The bad news is get ready to feel sick all day, like nausea, upset stomach, dizziness, and extreme fatigue. Getting up in the morning, even after 8 hours of sleep, is a task."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I just finished my first month of Mounjaro 2.5 mg. I did experience some side effects on the first day: nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, but the second day was better. After eating a small meal, I experienced bad sulfur-like burps throughout the day. So I took Pepto Bismol, and that worked like a charm! So before each one of my injections, I take a dose of it the first half hour before with no problems now."

For Type 2 Diabetes "My A1C went from 7.4 on insulin to 6.1 on just Mounjaro. I have used it for almost a year now. Nausea the day after I take the injection is bad sometimes, but mostly I tolerate it well. I lost 22 lbs on it alone and went off it recently because of the cost of Medicare. It is a great drug and has worked well for me. I am 75 and still working full-time. I lost a total of 42 lbs but need to lose more."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Mounjaro has helped me bring down my A1C. I'm only on a relatively low dose, but I am experiencing troubling side effects: stomach pain, indigestion, nausea, fatigue. I have the side effects mostly a day or two after the injection. I noticed a slight weight loss at first, but I think I gained the weight back somehow."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Started Nov 12 and am down 27 pounds. I have been on 5 mg for 16 weeks due to a shortage of 7.5 mg, so weight loss has slowed down considerably, but I am not gaining! Very sick the first week with nausea and one night of vomiting and diarrhea, but after that, only indigestion at night and occasionally like the next day after the injection! Pleased with the outcome so far! Disappointed with not moving up due to a shortage of 7.5 mg."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started using Mounjaro in March 2023, with a 2.5 mg dose, for weight loss. I shifted to 5 mg after 2 weeks; I stayed with each dose for around 2-3 months. I lost 10 kg by August (6 mo.). I had a freeze in weight loss for 5 weeks, then I lost 1.8 kg in 2 weeks when I took 10 mg. In terms of side effects, I experienced them during the first weeks of every upgrade in dose; like nausea and sometimes vomiting, headache, stomach pain, constipation and diarrhea, laziness, body ache, mood change; the worst was with 10 mg. As I have urticaria, I experienced an allergy at the needle site after week 10, which resolved in 3 days every time. This week I have pelvic, vaginal, and lower abdominal pain similar to period pain, although I have been menopausal for 4 years! I am happy about the results with minimal side effects."

"I have been taking Mounjaro for 7 weeks. 4 weeks of that I was on the 2.5 mg dose and lost 15 lbs by the 4th week. The last 3 weeks I've been on the 5 mg and I've lost ZERO lbs. Seems kind of useless to take when you have all the side effects (constipation, diarrhea, bloating, gas, nausea, headache, severe fatigue) for 3 weeks straight with no weight loss. I am considering going off this medication, I think it was all just hype. I've also stopped having periods. 40 years old, SW 199, CW 185, GW 140. Also following website food/calories recommendations. I have no other disease, just obesity."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "My experience with Mounjaro has been incredible. I started with 2.5 ml = 4/wk., 5 ml = 4/wk, 7.5 ml 4/wk (nausea with higher doses, no side effects). It's given me my life back. I have lost 15 kilos; I was 85 kilos, high cholesterol. I lost my appetite completely, eating only pears for breakfast, black coffee, steamed green veggies, and chicken. I have no dairy, takeout, or alcohol. Drinking a lot of water is essential, at least 3 liters or more per day. My body took four weeks to show any results; my body measurements changed first. I noticed in the 5th week, after a weekend, I had dropped 6 kg. My face became thinner, and someone said, 'You're shrinking.' I found it easier to drink fluids than eat food; it completely shut off my hunger. I had to make myself eat a savory biscuit. It was expensive! (No concession) Remember, everyone is different. I do have PHI, although they are ending the benefit due to the expense not being sustainable. I am strength training to gain muscle."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been using Mounjaro for weight loss for 9 months. I have lost 90 pounds and have had very minimal side effects. Some nausea occasionally and constipation. I am so grateful to have been prescribed the Mounjaro, as I no longer have heartburn and have alleviated having to take omeprazole daily. My sleep apnea has improved, I no longer snore like I used to and no longer need a sleep mask. The aches and pains have decreased substantially, and I have more energy than I have had in years. I was pre-diabetic, and all of my labs have improved. I am hopeful to be able to continue with the prescription, however, I would be unable to afford the current copay. I fear if I have to stop, I will be back to my same obese status as I was a year ago. The medication not only curbs the appetite but also stops the 'food noise.' If you have this issue, this will totally make sense. If not, I envy you."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Started on 2.5 mg in December and have titrated up every 4 weeks to 12.5 mg currently. So far I have been losing 2-3 lbs a week and have lost 34 lb, and up until now I haven't really noted any serious side effects other than occasional constipation and slight nausea if I don't eat something small every few hours, or if I eat something really fatty. The last two titrations I have noticed some extreme fatigue and being cold on the first day after my shot, but then it usually starts to go away on the 2nd day and I feel better. I have also noticed that if I try to push through the tiredness and try exercising, I usually feel better. I have tried to stick to a 1200-1500 calorie diet and do eat a lot more fruits and veggies, and I feel better than I have in a long time. Overall, it’s been a good experience and I’m super excited to see how much more weight I can lose."

For Type 2 Diabetes "My A1C and glucose levels are great. I am not on insulin. Side effects are rotten. Nausea, GERD, constipation/diarrhea, headache, stomach pain, decreased appetite every shot lessens over the week. Had this with Ozempic and Trulicity too, but not as severe. I have seen no weight loss benefit despite a decent diet and moderate exercise 3-5 times per week. Other side effects I’m not sure are related: feeling of lump in throat, slight face rash, occasional blurred vision, tingling in hands."

For Type 2 Diabetes "This has been a miracle drug for me. I am a type 2 diabetic for over 20 years. I have diabetic neuropathy, so I struggle being on my feet. I was taking 100 units of insulin a day. I am 65, 5'11" and 219 lbs when I started taking Mounjaro. I started at 2.5 mg, I had zero side effects and no desire to eat. I went up to 5 mg, and I was severely nauseous for 3 days. The side effects went away and never came back. I am on 12.5 mg. I have been on Mounjaro for 5 months. I am 180 lbs, my A1C is 5.8. It has never been below 7 in 25 years. My cholesterol is perfect: 70 good, 70 bad. I take about 5 to 10 units of insulin daily. You cannot eat fatty foods, it makes you only reach for healthy foods. A couple of bites, and you’re full. I put zero effort to lose weight. I lost 39 lbs without trying. It was never about losing weight for me, it was being healthy. I now have normal blood pressure. This drug is a miracle for me."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Mounjaro has been a wonderful drug intervention for me. Since January 2025, I am down over 50 lbs., my A1C is 5.7, and my cholesterol is 105. I no longer take medication for diabetes, and I am a lot healthier and feeling so much better. My only slight side effects are: nausea, dizziness, and low appetite at times. These symptoms are intermittent and not all the time."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "It was a lot easier on me than Ozempic, from an indigestion and nausea perspective. Seemed to help me build muscle better than Ozempic while losing the fat. Still only lost about 8-10 lbs with about 20 to go. Super, super expensive compared to Ozempic."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I went vegan in 1/23. I previously removed or reduced sugar, gluten, and carbs. Over 9 months, my glucose level fell slightly, and I lost 20 lbs. I had no progress for 4 months. In Jan. of 24, I started Mounjaro. Today, my A1c is 5.1, and I lost another 44 lbs. I've had minor nausea as I started 10 and get a headache for a day or two after I inject. I've experienced a great deal of hair loss even though I try to maintain 90 mg protein daily. Contraindications say a small percentage of users have this side effect and usually not to such a high degree. I believe everyone prescribed this drug could decrease many side effects with minimal nutritional counseling. I'm happy that I've gotten my A1c in line, and additional weight loss was a great side effect for me. I'm concerned about what happens when I stop using it because the effect of not feeling hungry and food not tasting great seems to be the biggest help for me. I feel great and have more energy. I eat very thoughtfully. Wish I could have done this years ago."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started Mounjaro in July '22 after losing 50 pounds (243 to 193, 5'2") on Trulicity. I am now closing in on losing 50 pounds on Mounjaro (approaching 143 lbs) and can honestly say that it has changed my life. My cravings for sugar are nearly gone. I drink 2 protein shakes each day and have found eating healthy and eating smaller portion sizes easy. I am a person who had horrible hyperemesis gravidarum during pregnancy, so I knew I would have the side effect of being nauseous. And I do become quite nauseous for the 2 days after the injection. However, I am able to manage this pretty easily as it passes quickly. Going from 12.5 mg to 15 mg was too much for me. I do best on the 10 mg. I do get minor constipation and occasional tiredness, but overall I feel 100 times better than I did 100 pounds heavier and I am no longer in the diabetic range."

For Type 2 Diabetes "It does cause nausea. Immediate stomach full, stomach ache, too full feeling, vision changes, I had loss of hair, procrastination-feeling stuck, memory zaps. But I did lose 35 lbs. And it did take a while. 1 year. Very easy to inject."

"I initially took Mounjaro for a short while until my insurance refused to cover it. I had typical symptoms of nausea and reflux. I was switched to Ozempic, lost weight, and hit a plateau. Still felt nauseous on occasion. For the past month, I have been back on Mounjaro with no negative side effects. My appetite is less and I have lost a few pounds. I feel nauseous only slightly on occasion. The injection is sharp and hurts but is tolerable. I am grateful for it. My husband has been taking Mounjaro for several months, has been experiencing mild side effects, and continues to lose weight. He pays about $1,000/month out of pocket because insurance doesn't cover it."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Type II diabetic and was on Ozempic but was having multiple issues getting it from the pharmacy. The doctor changed to Mounjaro. Had to start with the 10 mg dose as they were out of 7.5. A tiny bit of nausea in the beginning and had the runs but that subsided after about two weeks. Appetite suppression is great and I eat smaller portions and am satisfied. Lost 22 lbs in 4 months. 231 lbs - 209 lbs. 48 y/o female. I had a terrible time losing weight prior as I also have Hashimoto's, despite working out 4/5 days a week of strength training. Mounjaro finally got me over the hump."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started on 12-2-22. It’s 1-7-23. I’m now on 5 mg. My gallbladder was removed 10 years ago and I would have horrible gas, nausea, and diarrhea since surgery—until now! I was actually afraid to take this medication due to worsening my gallbladder tummy. All of those symptoms are gone. I just don’t eat much. I’m losing weight, probably 10 lbs so far. What I like about this med is that it’s a lifelong change. The injection is painless. I had 2 c-sections and I don’t feel the area around my stomach, so I put the injection there."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Aug 20, I began Mounjaro 2.5. I am type 2 diabetic. I started at 251 pounds. I have lost 54 pounds so far. I increased every 4 weeks, moving to 5 mg and 7.5 mg. I am on 10 mg now. I am not tolerating that dosage well at all. The nausea and excessive belching are almost debilitating the next day after the injection. The pharmacist told me almost no one is able to tolerate 10 or higher. I want to be reduced to a lower dosage. So far, there is such a shortage there isn’t any available."
