For Type 2 Diabetes "I started on the 2.5 dose in October, my doctor felt that the weight loss would help with my joint pain and lower my A1C. From day 1, I was extremely nauseous, had no desire to eat, had sulfur burps, and had constipation. I spoke with my doctor, who encouraged me to ride it out. On week four, I was stepped up to the 5 mg dosage. The doctor called in Zofran for stomach issues. On week six, I called her and said I could no longer function. During this time, I was so fatigued and was having heart palpitations and was barely able to walk 20 feet without being totally exhausted. I chalked it up to being so nauseous and not eating. Then my legs started to burn like I had walked up a steep hill and felt so sore and bruised I could barely sit. That week, I had my follow-up appointment with my doctor. I told her about my symptoms, and she said that rhabdomyolysis is not a side effect of Mounjaro. I was never dehydrated, but my CK levels were still 440 two weeks off the medication! Eight weeks later, and no improvement!"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have used Ozempic, Saxenda, and Wegovy and changed due to shortages, nausea, or not getting results. Been on Mounjaro for 1 month at 2.5. I have lost 2.8 kilos. No nausea and no desire to eat or pig out. My IBS/bloating has significantly reduced too. However, I eat small, healthy meals of protein, salads, and some fruit. I am very conscious of eating nutritious food and drinking lots of water. Mounjaro is expensive (in Australia), but it so far is the best product for me."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I’m struggling to get below 154 lbs, and being 5’, that’s a lot of weight to carry, which induces back pain. Lost 20 lbs on Ozempic from the beginning of the year till June, have managed to gain back 5 lbs, which isn’t awful but still not at my goal weight. I just left the ER from getting a bolus of saline due to dehydration. I’m battling hypoglycemia. I took my first shot on Tuesday. Wednesday felt decent, but malaise was setting in. Thursday, I didn’t even realize I had not eaten all day and all night at work. Friday night, I tried to eat half of a sandwich and was completely nauseous. Tonight at work, after eating half a sandwich and a few green beans, I had terrible diarrhea and became so dizzy and nauseated I was forced to leave work, having someone else take over my patients. Just a word of advice: if you’re a busy person, this med may not be for you. I had side effects of fever, chills, nausea, diarrhea, fatigue, and muscle pain, and I was negative for flu, COVID, and strep. The doctor said to go back to Ozempic :( but I’ve lost 6 lbs already!"

"For me, this is a miracle drug! I am perimenopausal and have gained belly fat and weight over the last two years. I started the Mounjaro 2.5 mg dose the first month and lost almost 3 pounds a week. I am sleeping better too, without the extra weight. The only side effects I have are small bouts of nausea here and there the first two days after my dose. Everyone I know taking the medication for weight loss who has had side effects has told me they are not eating properly or exercising. The recommendation was low sugar and no fried foods, so that is how I am eating. I have limited alcohol intake as well. I am now in my 6th week of the shots and was moved up to 5 mg on week five. I have the same side effects, a little bit of nausea here and there the first two days after the shot. I am now down 16 pounds. I only wanted to lose 20, so I am almost at my goal weight. My exercise consists of walking 2 miles around my neighborhood, yoga, and some pickleball. Eat well! Mounjaro is a miracle!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "I'm only on my second week, but I've lost 7 pounds so far. It forces me to eat because if I don't, I feel sick, but when I eat, I get full super fast. So it's like it's forcing me to do good and not starve myself. I really like that. The first week I had slight nausea here and there and a couple of headaches. Also, a little indigestion. I do feel pretty tired. I've been eating a low-carb diet. I'm going to incorporate exercise at the end of this week. I can only imagine how much I have the potential to lose once I start exercising if I've lost 7 just by eating better. Overall, I am satisfied with this drug. I'm on the low dose right now."

For Type 2 Diabetes "The meds did exactly what I expected. Lowered A1C, and I lost weight. The bad part is I was so sick on days 3-5 that it was awful. I couldn’t do my usual activities. No swimming for fear of losing control of bowels, and severe nausea. It worked great, but the side effects were extremely uncomfortable, I lost sleep from GERD. Disappointing for me."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Rx for weight loss, extreme fatigue for the first 3 days after injection (I stayed in bed). I thought it was good for controlling binge eating. However, I eventually started to get so dizzy after standing up that I had to hold the counters and walls to get around for the first few minutes after standing. I also started to notice a thickness or knot in my throat after the first 2 months. I had to stop taking it because no amount of weight loss is worse than being a cancer patient or bedbound. The weight loss was extremely slow for me too. I went from being on no meds to relying daily on heartburn medicine, Miralax, Tylenol, and ginger chews for nausea. And the price was ridiculous. I would have rather bought some cosmetic surgery. I was on it 5 months: 2.5, then 0.5, finally 7.5 mg."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I’m a 68-year-old female and have lost 50 lbs from January to June 2025. Started with 5 mg injections and now am getting 15 mg injections once per week. Minimal side effects unless I eat too much or eat unhealthy foods - and then I will have nausea and/or diarrhea. The biggest benefit has been that my blood pressure went from approximately 140/90 or so to a very consistent 110/60 or slightly above that, but hasn’t been anywhere near 140/90 since a couple of weeks after I began the injections. The cost has been a bit prohibitive, and I’m hoping that I’ll be able to transition off after I reach my goal weight loss of 75 lbs (without too much weight gain) OR that there will be a generic available and covered by Medicare. I can also breathe much better after climbing stairs and feel so much healthier and am able to play with my grandkids much more! Thanks so much!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "My dose at 2.5 mg was tolerable. Minimal side effects. 5 mg more side effects with nausea, sour stomach, gas. 7.5 mg has been a disaster. Heartburn. Headaches, lethargy, tiredness, no appetite, and need to force food on myself. Low blood sugar on CGM Libre2. I can't eat enough to get myself back to 90. I keep pegging 70 because I can't eat and am sick to my stomach all the time. My sleep is interrupted, and I must lie down constantly. I feel like I want to sleep all the time. Weight has dropped from 250 to 233 lbs, but if I can't get out of bed, what's the point? I will talk to my doc about going back to 2.5 mg for the A1C control, but this drug needs work."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have only lost 5 pounds in 2 months. It has severely decreased my appetite and occasionally caused nausea and stomach pain. I expected to lose more and more quickly than I have. Could not tolerate the severe nausea from Ozempic, so I switched to Mounjaro."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have been on Mounjaro for 7 weeks. The first 4 weeks the dosage was 2.5, and the last 3 weeks it was 5. I love Mounjaro! It takes away my food obsessions and sugar cravings. It lets me focus on life rather than on food. I did get a few minor incidents of diarrhea and an occasional minor feeling of nausea, but they were nothing serious. Mounjaro has helped me lose 15 pounds in 7 weeks and brought my blood sugar from 220 to 120. I wish it were cheaper, but it has been worth it for me."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started Mounjaro 8 weeks ago. I’m 69 years old with T2D and weighing 234 lbs. I now weigh 214. I start on 7.5 this weekend. I have had light nausea and light constipation, and the lovely burps, but other than that, all is good. I eat better, no hunger 24/7, and I feel so much better. No more metformin. Yay!!!!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "A little bit of back story for the full benefit of transparency… I am a type 2 diabetic on an insulin pump, taking 2 Synjardy every morning in addition to my once-a-week injection. I was completely insulin resistant. Since starting the Mounjaro in September 2022 on the lowest dose, I have worked my way up to 10 mg. Now, a supply shortage kept me from getting my one-month supply twice in the last 7 months. When starting again, it did give me nausea and headaches, my doctor prescribed Zofran, and I took ibuprofen. When I started, I weighed 330 pounds and am currently down to 289 as of yesterday. The biggest benefit to me is that my pump has had to work less because the Mounjaro keeps my blood sugar steady at about 90. I am hoping as I continue to lose weight, I need less and less insulin, that is the doctor's goal. So while yes, there are side effects initially, they did not hang around for me, and if you can push through them, they do subside. I am 48 years old and have been diabetic since I was 23."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "21, F, 5’3”. 8-24 weighed 230 lbs, have had a history of overeating due to never feeling full. Unknown medical/family history due to being adopted. As of 5/25, I weigh 185 lbs (loss of 45 lbs). Initial dose for the first month was 2.5 mg, each month increased to my current dose of 7.5 mg. Most likely will keep it at my current dose, as I’m already only able to eat one meal a day. Make sure to eat proteins, nutrients, micros, and macros for the meals you can eat, drink lots of water, and work out when able. For the past 4 months I’ve had to decrease my normal workout routine from high-impact to low-impact with mild cardio (biking, swimming). While I’ve lost weight, I can also tell I’ve been losing a lot of my muscle density—my current plan is to increase my weight-bearing exercises. The only side effects I’ve experienced are very slight nausea (mainly from the sound of the injection) and slight lightheadedness if I haven’t eaten around the time of injection."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Side effect I’d say I’ve had is a little bit of diarrhea and nausea. I’ve been on it for over a year now. I’ve lost over 140 pounds, still have a lot more to go, but it also helps control my type two diabetes, brought my A1c down from 10.8 to 4.6. Very happy with that, but I just had to have my appendix out right away because it was just about to rupture. Never had a problem with it until recently, so a coincidence or is it the medicine? Who knows, but I do know that this medicine has been a godsend for me. I do have gastroparesis along with IBS, and I tried to take Ozempic before this, and it about killed me, so an ambulance had to come and get me on the Ozempic. I do know I’m able to handle Mounjaro a lot easier on my system. If it wasn’t for Mounjaro, I don’t know where I’d be with my health right now, trying to raise three kids under the age of 14. So thank you."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started on Mounjaro last May 2024, weighing 303 lbs. By December 2024, I lost down to 190 lbs. with my A1C at 6, and my glucose is 100, down from 286 in May 2024! Mounjaro is wonderful for me! I had nausea at first, but dosage of 15, no nausea whatsoever. I’ve had to buy all new clothes, and I love it!"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Started Mounjaro in November 2024 and did not have any side effects, only when I was increased to 5 mg, and the nausea was bad, and I was sick a few times when I ate anything with a high/medium fat content. But I managed to get anti-sickness tablets from my GP, and I have lost 3.5 stone since starting this. I was 17 stone, and I can now go up 3 flights of stairs and not stop for breath, as before, I had to stop on the first flight. I have started to drink more water, as before I hated it. I was a fizzy drink person. I have also added more supplements to my daily intake, as before I never took supplements. The only issue I have now is sulfur burps and still nausea with the occasional trapped wind."

For Type 2 Diabetes "What a game changer this medicine is for weight loss... unfortunately, at $500/month after coupon, it is just cost prohibitive. The first month my insurance did cover, and what I noticed were immediate impacts on appetite, no urge to snack, no anxiety eating, and no hunger pangs. I have about 60 pounds to lose, and lost 5.5 pounds that first month. I did not have any side effects, except once I ate something sweet, I had a little nausea. Lesson: don't eat sweets :) I really wish my insurance would cover this, because I've never experienced anything like it."

No longer thinking about food all the time. Junk food and sugar hold no appeal. Sleeping better. Only side effect is slight nausea day after the injection."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I was recommended weight loss pre-knee surgery and decided to try Mounjaro. I am a 55-year-old female, at least 12 kilos overweight. I have been using it for 3 weeks now (2.5 mg) and have lost 2 kg. There was no nausea, and I manage slight constipation with poached pears and yogurt or a prebiotic. I realized very quickly that I needed to eat smaller amounts more regularly as opposed to my previous habit of waiting until I was really hungry - I didn’t eat badly before, but my food portions were larger, and I regularly consumed alcohol. I tried a sip of champagne after 2 weeks of Mounjaro, and it tasted horrible. The combination of eating less, feeling satisfied, sleeping better, and weight loss has already changed my life for the better."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Happy holidays, everyone. This medication is making it impossible for me to do anything. Dr. prescribed it. Day 1 felt fine. Day 2, near the end of the day, I had no desire for food-nothing. Today is Day 3, and I’ve been nauseous all day, and near the end of the day, I started to get diarrhea. The nausea has been pretty bad, though I did work out (it made it worse, and I had to skip some of it). Also, today, because of nausea, I have not wanted anything to eat. I forced myself to have half of an English muffin with peanut butter, and then this evening, a Campbell's soup to go since I was feeling so sick. I will not be taking the second dose this coming week when it is due because I feel miserable. It has a 5-day half-life, which is why I didn’t want to take it to begin with in case of side effects. It seems a lot of people get these side effects, and what I’ve learned is I always seem to get the side effects of medication. Be cautious. It needs a reversal pronto!"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "When I first started taking Mounjaro, I would get very nauseated, even throw up sometimes. Then my body got used to it, and I actually lost around 25 lbs. I asked my Dr if we could up the dosage because I stopped losing weight. I went up to Mounjaro 5.0. After my first shot, I was fine, just nauseated. After my second shot of 5.0, I broke out in hives all over my body. I continued taking my shot, and on the third week, the hives got worse. I was miserable, itching with large red spots all over. The Dr then lowered my dose back to 1.5, and finally, the hives went away, but I am not losing any more weight."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I’ve been taking 2.5 ml for 4 weeks and had few side effects apart from zero appetite, a little nausea, and a migraine (think the migraine was due to not eating). Now, week 5, increased to 5 ml and a different story: quite a lot of nausea, diarrhea, headache, and tiredness. Also again, total lack of appetite. Fortunately, these side effects more or less calmed down 2 or 3 days after taking the dose. I’m hoping it’s a temporary thing when you take a new dose - I can live with that."
