"I have been on Mounjaro since March 2023, it is now February 2024. When my doctor suggested Mounjaro to me, I was at a point in my life where I didn't think it could get much worse. My A1C was off the charts, I was severely obese at 280 pounds, and I was scheduling my 6th surgery in 7 months! Now, almost a year later, my diabetes is gone! I am 100 pounds down to 180 and no more surgeries in my foreseeable future! Game changer!"

"Tracked daily side effects weekly for several weeks. Had the injection on Sunday. The cycle was repeated each week. If taken in the morning, I was unable to sleep that night. Changed to 2 hours before bed and slept, but woke up feeling exhausted. Developed headache/migraine and mind fog by mid-morning, with neck pain and stiffness. Fatigue, neck pain, mind fog, and migraine came in waves and lasted until late Wednesday. I began to feel better by Thursday and back to 'normal' by Friday. Only small impact on blood sugar numbers. Frequently hungry and craved carbs. No weight loss."

"Type 2 - I had been on Ozempic. It made me vomit/diarrhea, had Charley horses and hand tremors, and I was belching acid. After 3 months, my Endo switched me to Mounjaro, stating it was stronger, but many people tolerate it better. Week one, I was sick six days. All the same symptoms I had on Ozempic, only more severe. Heart rate 15 beats higher per minute. Week two, I was sick five days. Week three, within 12 hours, all the same symptoms began, and more. The vomiting was severe (mouth and nose). The belching was rank smelling/tasting. Diarrhea. My appetite was definitely curbed. My belly sounded like a flood of water flowing through my innermost pipes but felt numb. Eyes were so dry. My watch alerted me that at night my respiration rate was dipping to 7.5. (Did not even know my watch tracked that!) My heart rate dipped to 45. My blood sugar went to 43. Felt like I was not going to breathe or control peeing. And more! Day five, I ended up in the hospital in AFIB with a high heart rate. ICU."

"Rx for weight loss, extreme fatigue for the first 3 days after injection (I stayed in bed). I thought it was good for controlling binge eating. However, I eventually started to get so dizzy after standing up that I had to hold the counters and walls to get around for the first few minutes after standing. I also started to notice a thickness or knot in my throat after the first 2 months. I had to stop taking it because no amount of weight loss is worse than being a cancer patient or bedbound. The weight loss was extremely slow for me too. I went from being on no meds to relying daily on heartburn medicine, Miralax, Tylenol, and ginger chews for nausea. And the price was ridiculous. I would have rather bought some cosmetic surgery. I was on it 5 months: 2.5, then 0.5, finally 7.5 mg."

"I have just started the smallest dosage of Mounjaro 2.5mg/5ml and just took my 3rd injection (so I am 17 days in). I have noticed a marked decrease in appetite and have dropped 6.5 lbs (which is pretty good since I started on December 17th, right before the holiday meals and treats). The only negatives have been minor stomach distress (but I had that issue prior to starting Mounjaro), and on day 16, I have had indigestion and hiccups, which I am still trying to calm down. The hiccups stopped, but the indigestion is lingering. The injections are easy and not painful. My daily finger prick to monitor my blood sugar is more noticeable, so don’t let the injections scare you away. So far, it seems to be working very well."

"In the beginning, I didn't even feel different, and then I stepped on the scale and was down 15 lbs after week 3. I noticed my clothes were getting bigger and bigger, and now I am down 80 lbs and on a 7.5 dose. I have had a lifelong journey with uncontrollable appetite issues, and this medication greatly curbs them. It did not happen overnight though, so be patient. If you eat a lot of cruciferous veggies, you are going to be extremely gassy. If you eat too much or eat things that are hard to digest, it is going to be harder to tolerate this medication. I have not been under 200 lbs in 20+ years, so this has been a blessing. My blood sugars are in check, and I have more energy. It is at times difficult to navigate what to eat that will not upset your stomach. Just watch what you eat and figure out what feels good to your tummy. Your body will do better with it if you do eat some proteins every now and then instead of a lot of carbs."

"I was put on Mounjaro 4 weeks ago (for type 2 diabetes), and the 3rd week, the once-a-week injection pen didn't work. The internal mechanics seized up, and I didn't get any medicine. I called Mounjaro support and spoke with Belinda and went through a series of questions and gave her my pharmacy information, was on hold and also speaking with Belinda for over one hour and 15 minutes. It is 3 days later, and my pharmacy still did not receive a call for a replacement from Belinda. This is a horrible product and even worse customer service."

"I started the medication in November of last year. I started with 5 mg and incrementally increased the dosage up to 15 mg. The small hypodermic needle made it easy to inject. At 10 mg, I reached a plateau with the weight loss. I eventually went up to 15 mg and stayed on that dose for 2 months. The primary reason for taking it was for type 2 diabetes, and I benefited from weight loss as I was also overweight. As of today, I have lost 35 lbs but stopped the Mounjaro about a month ago. My appetite seemed to slowly get back to normal, which is not a good thing. I also did intermittent fasting, so that helped a lot with the cravings, etc. I also get some bouts of constipation, but my diet made up for that. My urine smelled different. I pray there were no effects on my kidneys. My blood sugars are normal. My A1C is 5.2, so I chose to stop the medication and continue the weight loss journey naturally."

"In the two doses, my blood sugar has been lower, my appetite has diminished, and I had no side effects. At the end of the second week (Saturday), I woke up during the night with stomach pain, diarrhea, and belching. After 6 hours, I finally vomited up undigested food that had been in my stomach for over 12 hours. It looked like I had just eaten. I avoided all food until Sunday morning, eating 1/2 of a plain English muffin. I had Lipton chicken soup, a piece of Bavarian pretzel, and a few french fries (picking from my wife’s meal). Monday, I finally felt hungry and had a Whopper Jr. (not a good choice I know), and Tuesday I woke up with food sitting in my stomach and one diarrhea BM. NOTE: I have not taken dose #3, nor do I plan to. This is slowing my digestion down too much. I have never had digestive issues, and I’m not going to start now."

"My dose at 2.5 mg was tolerable. Minimal side effects. 5 mg more side effects with nausea, sour stomach, gas. 7.5 mg has been a disaster. Heartburn. Headaches, lethargy, tiredness, no appetite, and need to force food on myself. Low blood sugar on CGM Libre2. I can't eat enough to get myself back to 90. I keep pegging 70 because I can't eat and am sick to my stomach all the time. My sleep is interrupted, and I must lie down constantly. I feel like I want to sleep all the time. Weight has dropped from 250 to 233 lbs, but if I can't get out of bed, what's the point? I will talk to my doc about going back to 2.5 mg for the A1C control, but this drug needs work."

"If anything, I would call Mounjaro a wonder drug. In Jan 2023, I weighed just over 300 pounds and my A1C was hovering around 7 with Ozempic and Metformin. My Dr. prescribed Mounjaro and within a few weeks, I started seeing a marked change. Now, 9 months later, I have lost 108 pounds and my last A1C was 5.0. I have had no noticeable side effects and it couldn't be easier to use. The only problem has been getting it. More than once, I've had to wait a few days for it to come back in stock at the pharmacy. I'm sleeping better, have more energy and overall, feeling healthier. My Dr. has even reduced the dosages on several of my other medications and may be able to take me off some of them soon."

"My question is if a medication such as Mounjaro helps and works and allows a patient to live an almost normal life but cannot afford to pay for it, how come Eli Lilly is so adamant about helping a senior on Medicare to pay for this medication. How about offering a reasonable discount so that I can continue buying it so I do not face hypo no hyperglycemia? Is my health not worth it vs. the CEO and the rest of the top management to get their big bonuses? Really! Patients need help, please. Medicare patients are not allowed to use savings cards, only commercial medical insurance. Please think about this issue and help us to live a better and decent life. I am not obese, nor do I need it for weight loss. I need it to maintain my health. Thank you in advance should you find it in your heart to help me with my costs. I was diagnosed with CKD, and after I started using Mounjaro, my kidneys numbers went up significantly so did my diabetes being more manageable. Thank you again."

"I have type 2 diabetes and need this medication, so my doctor prescribed it. However, my insurance company denied me. If I want to take it, it is $1,300.00 for a one-month supply. How sad this world has become that instead of the pharmaceutical companies helping us to get better, they prefer to keep us sick. I am so disappointed."

"56-year-old male here, 5'10". Started Mounjaro on 10/28/23, weighing 291 pounds. Started at 2.5mg for 4 weeks, will be on 5.0mg for another 5 weeks before upping to 7.5mg. The only real side effect has been constipation. I just had my yearly physical yesterday. Lost 40 pounds in 6.5 weeks. Blood work came back amazing. A1C was finally under 7.0. Discontinuing metformin, reducing Lipitor. Mounjaro is life-saving."

"I started at a very heavy weight, 260. I am now 188. The one thing I hate is the hair loss! That wasn’t a side effect. I still inject it, but I wish Lilly would explain how to not lose my hair. I’ve taken it for about two years, and I may take a break soon to see what happens. My A1C is great."

"I have been on Mounjaro for 7 weeks. The first 4 weeks the dosage was 2.5, and the last 3 weeks it was 5. I love Mounjaro! It takes away my food obsessions and sugar cravings. It lets me focus on life rather than on food. I did get a few minor incidents of diarrhea and an occasional minor feeling of nausea, but they were nothing serious. Mounjaro has helped me lose 15 pounds in 7 weeks and brought my blood sugar from 220 to 120. I wish it were cheaper, but it has been worth it for me."

"I lost over 40 lbs and leveled off at an ideal weight. Best of all, my A1c dropped to a non-diabetic level. My ophthalmologist has said there is now no sign of diabetes in my eyes. I have been able to reduce the meds I was taking. I am much more active because I weigh so much less and feel better. I followed the advice in the enclosure for the drug and ate small meals several times a day rather than large meals. I have not had trouble with side effects. I hope that the cost is reduced so that more people can afford it. Its biggest downside is the expense."

"I started Mounjaro 8 weeks ago. I’m 69 years old with T2D and weighing 234 lbs. I now weigh 214. I start on 7.5 this weekend. I have had light nausea and light constipation, and the lovely burps, but other than that, all is good. I eat better, no hunger 24/7, and I feel so much better. No more metformin. Yay!!!!"

"I started taking Mounjaro 2.5 mg in March of this year (2024). Every month, my doctor increased my dose to the next level. I was put on the medication to help with my A1C because it would go up and down but not at a normal number. After 3 months, it went from a 7 to 4.5. I was so happy with the result. I am currently on 15 mg and I am down 50 lbs (over 6 months) and A1C is staying at 4.5. My original goal was 30 lbs by September and 60 by next March. I am so excited that I am already close to my year weight goal loss. The only side effects that I have had were the sulfur burps, which I figured out how to control and prevent and stop. And occasional constipation, which I just increased fiber intake to help. Everyone's experience is different. I went into taking it and researching all the side effects and being careful. I am thankful to my doctor for helping me, and I am happy with the results so far."

"I am starting week three. As others have stated, it changed my relationship with food. I no longer focus or have cravings for salty and sweet, carbs, beginning day 3. No urge for late-night snacking. I can't eat carbs like potatoes or bread, or I get a stomach ache. A big improvement – I was so fatigued before, I could barely make it through the day, and now I have the energy to go into the pool and do some gentle exercising. I just don't get hungry. I was able to drop pop completely for water. I don't know what is in this medicine, but it really has made a profound impact on my life. I've lost 6 pounds so far, but it feels like I've lost a couple of inches in my clothes. Highly recommend."

"A little bit of back story for the full benefit of transparency… I am a type 2 diabetic on an insulin pump, taking 2 Synjardy every morning in addition to my once-a-week injection. I was completely insulin resistant. Since starting the Mounjaro in September 2022 on the lowest dose, I have worked my way up to 10 mg. Now, a supply shortage kept me from getting my one-month supply twice in the last 7 months. When starting again, it did give me nausea and headaches, my doctor prescribed Zofran, and I took ibuprofen. When I started, I weighed 330 pounds and am currently down to 289 as of yesterday. The biggest benefit to me is that my pump has had to work less because the Mounjaro keeps my blood sugar steady at about 90. I am hoping as I continue to lose weight, I need less and less insulin, that is the doctor's goal. So while yes, there are side effects initially, they did not hang around for me, and if you can push through them, they do subside. I am 48 years old and have been diabetic since I was 23."

"Great. After one shot, I lost a little weight, and my ‘sugar’ monitor finally went under 100. Spikes of 127 to 145 in the morning stopped. By my third shot, my glucose readings were averaging high 80s! And I lost 15 pounds. Still watching my diet, no sugar, low carbs."

"I loved this medication. Easy to use once a week. My A1C went to normal, weight went down to no longer be obese, and I could afford the $179/month. It did not upset my stomach. No side effects. I wish I could still use it, but the cost is way too high. Even with insurance, it is $750/month. So many online sites claim to sell it at a reduced cost, but I can't trust them."

"Absolutely love this medication. I was expecting to be a lot more nauseated than I am. Not losing weight, really 6 pounds in three weeks, but I’m sure it was water weight. I do, however, experience palpitations, although my heart is in normal rhythm. The first three days of taking it, I do experience the palpitations. I also get blurred vision. Both of those are very mild, but I am also on a very low dose, 2.5. My numbers were hitting 500 after I eat, sometimes 550, even when I was eating healthy. Since starting Mounjaro, within days my numbers after eating are 190. It’s the best drug ever!"

"I started with 2 1/2, went up to five, and then now I am at 10. I lost a few pounds a week, although my appetite is much less than usual. The side effects have been very minimal, mostly headache, sore throat, and hoarseness seems to linger, never really goes. Constipation can be an issue at times, that only for myself, but other people I know on the same drug. My PA is working very closely with her and paying attention to absolutely everything closely. I feel that it’s a safe drug so far if you have a doctor or PA that is on board with you and to a full degree of attention. My hope is that once my A1c is in order, I will be able to discontinue the drug completely, although some studies recommend that not to be probable, again, working closely with my doctor and care team. Thank you for your time."
