"Be careful when deciding to take this medication. I advise you to speak first with your doctor, and if you could find another way to lose weight, you should decide to go with something else. The side effects for some people are almost unbearable. I was 100% healthy before taking this. Now my blood sugar levels are low, I cannot wait for this to leave my system. It’s hard to work out, I feel awful. Ever since I stopped taking it, since my sugar levels are low, I have to eat more sugar, and it’s hard to eat. I feel nauseous, and it’s so hard to start the day feeling like this. Please beware, I know of people that are not even eating while taking this because they lost their appetite, and they have to blend their food because it won’t go down. The side effects at the beginning for many people are really awful. If you have to work and be productive, don’t take this medicine, you will regret it."

"I don’t have diabetes. I may have insulin resistance. I’m taking this for weight loss. BMI 48. Took the first dose, a sample dose, five days ago. I didn’t even feel the needle. Within a day of the injection, I started having pain in my low back, in the tailbone area, squeezing muscle pain when standing or walking. The pain goes away after a few minutes of sitting or lying down. (I had similar pain when taking Belviq. I don’t normally have back pain.) I also have some intermittent mild itching at wrists, ankles. I still think about food all the time, but I’m not actually interested in eating it. Someone brought me a quarter-pounder sandwich for supper. I had to cut it in half, and then I shared my half with the cat. There’s cake in the refrigerator, and I haven’t touched it. I’m hungriest in the mid-morning now and today had 1 low carb tortilla, one link turkey sausage, a slice of cheese, cilantro, and a bowl of watermelon."

"I was started on Trulicity in Nov. 2018. Because of manufacturing difficulties, it was discontinued for Rybelsus in 2023, but switched to Mounjaro in late 2023, which has been very easy to take and manage. My A1c went from over 10 points to now 6.1. I have also lost a total of 40 lbs. I wish GLP-1s were available years ago, but am thrilled with my overall results. I am 72 years old and will probably be on Mounjaro the rest of my life. Thank you for this medication regimen."

"I have type 2 diabetes, along with lupus SLE, rheumatoid arthritis, degenerative joint and disc disease. I was morbidly obese, and my diabetes was out of control. I was on two types of insulin, steadily gaining weight. My doctor mentioned Mounjaro 5 mg 2 years ago, and I started. In about 8 months, I had lost maybe 60 lb, but my blood sugar was still in the sevens. He moved me up to 7.5, it became hard to find, so we went on up to 10 mg. Over the course of 18 months, I have lost 145 lb! My blood sugar ranges from 5 to 5.7. It has come to the point now that my doctor is dropping me back down on the dose because I have lost so much weight. I have not had one single side effect or problem. I know medicines don't work for everyone, but this worked fantastically for me! I am no longer on any type of insulin or diabetes medication except 7.5 mg Mounjaro once a week. I am 5 ft 10 in and started at 295 lb. Two years later, I am 148 lb and feel so much better!"

"Started at the 2.5 level and lost some weight (15 lbs.). Sugars are down as well. Greasy foods are not recommended. Went to the 5.0 level and everything dairy went bad... sours on the stomach badly and quickly. Ate too much one night and got very ill, vomiting and diarrhea all night along with serious gas from both ends! I don't like that I can't have my dairy, even tried Lactaid to no avail. Also, there seems to be a metallic taste in my mouth most of the time."

"My endo doctor asked me to try the shot. At first, I said no. But she convinced me that we could get my A1C down. It was just under 9 at that time. I started the shot the 2nd week of October 2024. The first 2 months, it was just feeling nauseous. That was 2.5 mg. Here it is March 2025, I've lost 46 lbs. That to me is great. I had no idea about the weight loss when I started! Latest blood work, A1C is 6.4!! I now don't have to take Januvia or glipizide. Another plus! I am now on 7.5 mg. The only thing I've noticed, well, 2 things: I've developed eczema, bad. Currently waiting for my dermatology appointment. The other problem is depression. At least that is my thought, I've not had any ambition or 'get up and go,' which could be from the increase to 7.5 mg. I'm going to stick with it though. I'll stay at my current dose for a couple of months. I'm very happy with my morning finger pokes, I've been 92 to 103 every morning. Very pleased with the medication!"

"I began my journey 08/23/22. As of 01/17/23, I am down 55 lbs. I have had no issues. I truly have little to no desire to eat. I have to force myself to eat. My blood sugar is now normal to the low end. I really hope that insurance will kick in before the coupon is no longer effective. I am stunned by how well this has worked. I have tried other meds, and nothing has come close. I am 11 lbs from my goal weight. I think I am going to have to readjust my goal. Yay!"

"I know this med doesn't work for everyone, and some people have some pretty horrific side effects. Luckily, I am one of those people who it DOES work for. In 4 months, went from A1C of 7.5 to 5.0. All of my other regular labs are in normal range. Going off atorvastatin (10 mg for cholesterol) and lisinopril (10 mg for high blood pressure) soon. Also, lost 45 lbs. The only side effect worth mentioning is constipation, but I think I finally have a handle on that (with magnesium supplement). Started on 2.5 mg for 8 shots, 5.0 mg the rest of the time. My biggest problem is supply issues. I have a prescription for 7.5 mg but haven't been able to find any yet. Shortage is supposedly ending, so hopefully that will be resolved soon."

"I have been taking Mounjaro for 4 months. It works! I have lost over 30 lbs, and my A1C is coming down and is close to 7, down from over 8. I wish the doctors prescribing this medication were better trained so they could advise their patients what they can expect. For 3 months, I frequently got nauseous, but that’s the medicine working. I lost weight because of 2 actions from taking this medicine: it suppressed my appetite, I wasn’t hungry at all, and being nauseous further reduced my desire to eat. It worked for me when everything else failed, but you have to be able to cope with the side effects and stick with it."

"I started out on the 5mg and was deathly ill from it for about a week, with severe diarrhea and belching that was so awful it made me want to vomit. I lost 9 pounds, and my sugars are going down and staying where they are supposed to be. I called my doctor, and she switched me down to the 2.5mg, better just one day of illness. Started back on the 5mg, and I still feel horrible for 24 hours after day 2 of the shot. But sugars are awesome, and I'm hoping this too will pass."

"My doctor recommended Mounjaro. I objected because of previous experience with side effects from Byetta, Victoza, and Trulicity. He said the side effects were mild. I agreed to try 2.5, that was a horrible decision! My heart rate elevated, pulse and blood pressure increased, couldn’t eat, diarrhea, vomiting, loss of sense of balance. Went to the doctor 2 days later, and I was so dehydrated I required 2 1/2 bags of IV solution to help me drive home. I can’t remember ever being so sick. I will never take it again or recommend it to anyone!"

"Maxed out on three oral DM2 meds and three BP meds, 5'4", weighing a miserable 237 lbs, wearing size 18-20, unable to muster energy to exercise. Began the Mounjaro journey in March 2024. Increased Mounjaro dosage each time I reached a plateau with 2-4 lbs stagnant weight loss over 4 weeks. No side effects beyond mild constipation, relieved with prunes and occasional stool softener. Today, on the 2nd month of Mounjaro 15 mg. Current weight 153 (84 lbs gone!), with a goal weight of 140 lbs. Currently wearing size 10, no oral DM2 meds, 2 BP meds at half of initial doses, A1C 5.0. 66 years young today, now mowing and weed-whacking the yard, walking, running up and down stairs, boundless energy. Can't stop smiling. This has been a life-altering experience. Got a new driver's license when I realized I was virtually unrecognizable in the old photo."

"Male, 70 years old, 6.0 feet tall, start weight 308 lb, A1c 10.4. Dose: 1 month 2.5 mg, 3 month 5 mg, and 2 month 7.5 mg. Now 238 lb, A1c after 3 months, 7.1, after 6 months 5.2. Unlike many others, I have had no negative reaction to Mounjaro. Mounjaro appears to control what I eat, less food and just thoughts of eating high glycemic foods, junk food, or any fried foods make me feel nauseous, so I just eat fresh fruit and veggies, good quality meat and fish. Mounjaro has worked well for me. I see people have had a bad reaction to the drug and given it a very low rating and are telling others not to take it. Before I started, my doctor told me everyone reacts differently to the drug, ranging from no problems to severe reactions to finding it intolerable. If you and your doctor believe it could aid you, then you should at least try it and see if it works for you, if not, just stop taking it. So my diet has improved. I also exercise five days a week at the YMCA: swim, walk, and core body weights."

"To start with, I am 66 years old. Two years ago, I cried ugly tears in my doctor's office and told my doctor I felt like I would be dead in 5 years if something did not change. She recommended and I started Mounjaro with a 2.5 pen. I now take 7.5. I have never taken more than the 10 dosage. My A1C is now consistently between 4 and 5. I got serious about my overall health but especially diabetes. For the last 18 months, I have eaten a healthier diet and exercised at least 5 days a week. I have lost 115 pounds. I feel better than I have in 40 years. Mounjaro gives me the will to keep up the healthier diet and exercise, to say no to most of the sweets I have an opportunity to eat. I was one of the lucky ones who experienced little if any side effects. It is a decision I will never regret. Mounjaro saved my life."

"For the most part, I’ve had no problems with Mounjaro. There is one traction, however, that presents itself. If I’m eating a meal and consume more food than I realize, I get pain right below my rib cage. It feels like a real upset stomach. From now on, I’m going to be very careful about the amount of food I consume!"

"I was prescribed the 2.5 dosage as a trial by my endocrinologist for pre-diabetic and weight loss on 9/15/22. I felt fine the first day, shot was given in the morning, but the next day I actually forgot to eat lunch. That is not normal for me. I wasn’t hungry. The third and fourth day I had horrible sulfur burps, nausea, fatigue. On the fourth day, I took two naps, which is not normal for me. I thought my symptoms were getting worse, but then the fifth and sixth day I felt great. I am fearful to take the next injection this week as I don’t want a repeat of the less than desirable side effects. It really wrecked my weekend. On the upside, I lost a couple of pounds the first week. That’s exciting, but at what cost?"

"This medication has been life-changing. Started with 2.5 mg and now at 5 mg. A bit of constipation and nausea, but nothing major. I started at 288 lbs and now at 236 lbs. I am a male, 5’11”. I hope I can get to my goal of 190 lbs in a few months. Working out, walking, and avoiding carbs is key. No fried foods or heavy carb meals, or you will pay a price. Lots of protein, lean meats, and veggies/berries. Good luck, everyone."

"I am a Type-2 diabetic. I have been on Mounjaro for several months. It is controlling my blood sugar great, and I have lost some weight. My biggest problem with the Mounjaro is the fact that I cannot get it because of unavailability. I don't understand how people who want to lose weight take priority over people with a medical condition. The people with diabetes need this medication and are not able to get their prescriptions filled because the people who want to lose weight are hoarding this medication. I also want to lose weight, however, the control of my blood sugars is a priority to me. I cannot control my blood sugars without my medication. Something needs to be done so that diabetics can control the disease. Obesity is not a disease, but diabetes is. Mounjaro is a great medication for type-2 diabetics for controlling their blood sugar. Availability for diabetics should be a priority."

"I've been taking it for about 9 months. I spent about 6 months on 2.5, then 3 months on 5.0 and am currently on a 7.5 dose as of 3 weeks ago. I have lost 75 lbs. My A1C is down to 5.4 from 7.5 and I no longer need metformin. Only recently have I experienced any side effects. I am having heartburn or a feeling like something is stuck in my throat, just below the neck/collar area. I'm hoping this will stop soon."

"I started Mounjaro 7 weeks ago. The first shot made me so nauseous and have such bad abdominal pain that lasted for 12 hours. I almost went to the ER. I told my doctor about my experience, and she gave me Zofran and told me to continue dieting. Fast forward to this weekend - took my shot on Friday morning, then spent all day Saturday and Sunday projectile vomiting (it literally ended up about 7 feet from where I was standing), uncontrollable diarrhea, disgusting sulfur burps, horrible heartburn, and dizziness. Finally, I decided to go to the ER and got treated for dehydration. They told me to follow up with my primary doctor to talk about the best way to continue the medication. After this experience, I am NEVER taking this drug again. While I've lost 25 lbs in the past 7 weeks, I believe it's mostly because I've been afraid to eat anything. I will continue to eat healthy and cut carbs and sugars, but I won't be taking Mounjaro again."

"As of today, 9/5/2022, I have been on Mounjaro for 5 weeks. I have experienced upset stomach, nausea, weakness, and tiredness. I am on 2.5 mg. Hoping symptoms start to disappear. I am a Type 2 diabetic, and the pills didn't seem to help. I am in my 60s, so was wondering if that mattered. I'm not sure. I would like to continue the Mounjaro, but if side effects persist, I may have to try other options."

"It’s been 2 years. Yes, there were challenges. Some nausea. Lot’s of constipation. Some fatigue. And mostly good aversion. I understand fully the phrase eat to live. This medication was/is a game changer for long-time diabetes sufferers. I lost 50 pounds. Got off of insulin shots. Cholesterol meds. BP meds. I am over 60 years old and feel better than I did at 40. I would rate my experience on Mounjaro on a scale from 1-10, a solid 10. Everyone’s journey is unique, based on many different factors. I would rate my journey as successful."

"I have been on Mounjaro for 9 weeks. I had to jump from 5 to 10 mg last week due to shortage issues. I am having several problems with severe bloating, constipation, headache, and stomach pain. I have severe gas that keeps me up most of the night and can be a sign of impending intermittent diarrhea at times. I am always full and started pushing myself to eat as I can go all day with nothing. Now I have small welts and itching at injection sites. Total weight loss: “0.” My blood sugar is higher, especially in the morning. This drug is horrible, and I won’t put my body through it anymore. I can lose weight easier and healthier than this since it ruined my Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve. I was so excited to try it and had hope. I’m thankful for all those who are benefiting from it. Good luck to all. It just wasn’t for me."

"I started at 373 pounds, type 2 diabetic. My blood sugar was under control, I was taking metformin for about a year. My A1c was around a 6. In 2 months' time, I've lost 65 pounds. I started with the 2.5 mg, no side effects, moved to a 5 mg, had the suffer burps that folks are alluding to, but nothing else. I went to the 7.5 mg, then moved to the 10 mg. From about 5 mg on, I had to make myself eat, and like others, I started eating right. My energy levels are up. No vomiting or liver failure, thank God. I'm now currently on the 12.5 mg. Other than no appetite, I seemed to have dodged the side effects. I'd recommend this to anyone, it has done wonders for me."

"I started Mounjaro on Sunday, the 24th of August 2025. It immediately brought my blood sugar down and did have a decreased appetite. 1st day, I was very, very tired and slept a lot. After that, I was tired but okay. The only problem I had was no bathroom for 6 days. Problem being resolved. It is a great medicine, but the cost is almost too high for me. I am 75 and on social security. Bonus: lost over 5 pounds."
