For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I wish I had read these reviews before trying Monistat 1. Like everyone, I normally use the 3-day or 7-day treatment, but thought I'd step up into more modern medicine. Within 20 minutes of insertion, I was itching and burning. It's too much medicine and causes a very bad reaction. Itching, burning, swelling, inflammation. The side effects are worse than the yeast infection itself. I'm on day 2 and still feel the reaction. The burning has subsided, but I still have some itching and inflammation. What's worse is: I don't know if I still have a YI because the medicine's effects are so bad! I will never use this medicine again, and I'm passing this information on to every woman I know!"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I'm almost 40 and have only had a handful of YIs, all due to antibiotics. I was put on a very strong antibiotic a week ago and got a severe YI. I used Monistat 1 at 10 pm, here it is 2 am and I'm dying. Looking at other comments, it appears that 4 hours after you've used it is when the 's' hits the fan. It feels swollen, the burning is insane, and it's so thick you can't just wipe it off with wipes. I feel like this is going to be a long night! I definitely don't recommend using this if you have a severe YI. Use the three-day or Diflucan. I feel like I've been to hell and back."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "This was my first YI and first time using this medication (even after reading the horrible reviews). I decided I was going to risk the 'pain' of Day 1 in order for the YI to be cured faster. I prepared for the absolute worst - extreme burning, swelling, itching, etc. I took it before bed, Advil, and iced the area BEFORE the pain began. By taking these precautions, I faced absolutely no pain the night of or the next morning."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "Ok, so I see all these reviews about burning and itching and swelling, mostly from the ovule. Well, I used the ointment about an hour ago, and I'm fine. No itch, no burn, just a little moist. Don't know how good it works, but will definitely be back for an update."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG. I had a mild yeast infection: some discharge, itching, swelling, and I wanted to treat it quickly, so I picked Monistat one day without doing any research prior. I put the dinosaur egg in me before bed and slept through the night, but when I woke up for class, I started to experience the worst pain I have ever felt. The burning was so much worse than the actual infection, and it's been 6 hours since it started burning, and it's still continuing. There is also blood coming out of me. I've been told that the 7- or 3-day Monistat is a similar experience, but not as bad. This drug is also not even guaranteed to work, so I experienced this excruciating pain for nothing and have to go on the prescribed pill."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I rated the effectiveness as a 1... I'm honestly not sure how effective it is, seeing as I only used the applicator several hours ago. I inserted the medicine at bedtime. I just got up in the middle of the night to use the restroom, and it burns so badly! The outside of my vagina is swollen and puffy. Not good!!"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "So I developed a yeast infection from antibiotics and grabbed the Monistat 1 so I could quickly be rid of my lady business problems. However, I took that on Monday, severe itching occurred the entire time, which I did not have before I used this product. After speaking with my mother about it, she gave me her last capsule from her Monistat 3 kit, and I used it thinking the burning was caused by the yeast infection. At this point, I could barely even walk. My vagina was so inflamed and stinging, burning, feeling like it was ripping off. However you want to put it. So, my mother went and got me some more Monistat 7, since I was literally bedridden, which is very unlike me. Listen to me, ladies, DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT. Especially not the 1-day use. It’s been literally a week since I took it, and I feel like I just had surgery on my hoohah with no anesthesia. If someone knows how to make this feeling go away, please let me know."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I woke up two hours after using and had the worst swelling and burning sensation. I was also super dizzy (allergic reaction?) and almost passed out (I fell over instead). I’ve used 7-day and been fine. Absolutely do not use this, it is not worth it. The discomfort you feel from your YI is much better than hitting your head at 2 a.m. because you’re too dizzy to walk."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I am currently taking antibiotics and started having symptoms of a yeast infection a few days ago. Tomorrow morning is my last dose of antibiotics. I decided to wait until tonight to try the Monistat 1 Day pre-filled applicator since I’m almost done with my antibiotics. I felt fine for the first five minutes, and then came the fire. My vagina feels like the fiery lava got unleashed on it. I have also tried the Monistat Egg (which should definitely be illegal). I ended up going to urgent care because I was in so much pain and I was so swollen. I am sitting on my floor, ice pack in between my legs, in a puddle of my own tears. Please don’t use either of these products, I should’ve just waited until the morning to get an antifungal pill from my gynecologist."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I’m literally in tears! The burning and swelling is insane! Within an hour, I am finding myself in tears! This is just horrendous. I am lucky my doctor has a same-day appointment. My lady parts are throbbing, on fire, and swelling. How is this stuff sold? I birthed two kids, and nothing compares to this. I even had a small tear, and it hurt, but this is constant. I BEG YOU LADIES TO NOT USE THIS. YOU GUYS WON'T BE ONE THAT DOESN'T HAVE ANY REACTIONS. I just douched to get stuff out, and we shall see what my doc says. :-("

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "Well, it started off with me taking some kind of meds, and now I got a YI. I have been in pain for like 4-6 days before. I just thought it was from having sex, but then I asked my mom, and she recommended the one-day preloaded syringe thing, so I got that. I injected it last night about 9 pm, and so far it's still painful and swollen, but it's not burning or itching too bad. So, it's now 9 am, and I'm hoping it works and clears up. In the next couple of days, I'll repost anything else, but so far so good. It was super easy to inject. I'd suggest a panty liner or thin pad just for leakage, the crew is very thick and oily."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "This medication is a painful experience. I took it last night to care for a mild yeast infection. After waking, I found that my symptoms intensified and new ones occurred. The medication caused me to experience vaginal discharge that irritated my vagina even more. I became swollen and red, and it started to burn when I urinate. I made a doc appointment and received oral medication to help the infection. My doc informed me that the reason Monistat 1 is so painful for so many women is due to the high levels of medicine within the 1 dose. The medication also irritates the skin so much that it causes the swelling, redness, and burn. She said that the 5 or 7 is much better...or paying a visit with the doc for some med."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "Holy hell!! This stuff burns. Similar experience to the other ladies. Do not use. Just go to urgent care to get oral meds prescribed! Yesterday was the day from hell. My vagina felt like it was on fire for 12 hours, and nothing helped! Had to just take Benadryl and some wine to fall asleep. I woke up this morning feeling better, though. Swelling has gone down a bit, vagina still warm but not burning. Never using this product again!"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "If I could give this a negative rating, I would. To not waste your time, just suck it up, go to the doctor and get the oral capsule. I have a high pain tolerance, and this was a HORRIFYING experience. I inserted the egg thing, and nothing happened yet, because it's just chilling in the canal of your vagina. Then I used the lotion for the burning and itching. If you enjoy the idea of setting fire to your vagina and it swelling a crazy amount, then try the lotion. If you want relief, then put NOTHING that has anything to do with Monistat on your body or in it. Trust me. Good luck."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I put the capsule in right before bed last night, only to be awakened a few hours later with a burning and itching that literally made me cry. I cannot even explain the level of pain I'm in. My vagina and labia are bright red, swollen, and throbbing with pain. The burning sensation is non-stop, and the itching comes whenever some of the cream seeps out. I would NEVER recommend this product to anyone!!"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "Can’t get any sleep! Inserted around midnight, and by 2 a.m. was burning so badly I was in tears. The burning finally subsided, but then I had to pee. Bad move. After wiping, the burning came back, and now it is combined with severe swelling. I am now praying myself to sleep and trying to ignore how swollen I feel down there. If I only would have visited this site yesterday."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I felt the early symptoms of a yeast infection coming on and decided to take care of it right away. I have used the egg version in the past without any issues. But my local Target didn't have it in the store yesterday. I used this before bed as suggested. Within half an hour, my vagina was burning and swollen. It looked like it did after giving birth! It was unbearable. I jumped in the shower and attempted to wash out whatever was left in my vagina. I lathered it in coconut oil. The burning stopped, but 9 hours later, after sleeping with an ice pack between my legs and taking a Benadryl, my poor vagina is still so swollen I can barely walk! After reading other reviews, this seems like a common occurrence. How can you sell something that causes such awful reactions?! When will the swelling go away?"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "I inserted the maximum strength Monistat 1 last night, say 9:30. Slept fine. Had minor burning after my morning urination, but it went away 10-20 mins later. I was already swollen before using and aching, not much burning or itching. It's going on 6 am, and it seems to be doing what it is supposed to for me. And if you use the wet wipes to kind of keep the discharge/medication leakage wiped up as much as possible from the outside of your vag, it’d help. I think letting it pool and sit is what may be causing a lot of the irritation. There was a good bit of wet wipes in my kit along with some cream for the outside area."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "So I felt this stupid YI coming on, but I wasn't sure if it was that, the pregnancy, or too much sex, so I waited a day or two. Finally, I couldn't take it anymore, so hubby graciously got me the 1-day treatment. I normally get the 3-day, but I figured what the hell. I inserted this two days ago, and I still have this icky white stuff coming out, and it's not the YI. The itching is 10 times worse than before I inserted it. I tried taking a shower, and more just keeps coming out. My nani is all swollen and itchy and irritated, and I'm just done with it all. Everyone is different, but my recommendation is to just go to your doc."

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "Unfortunately, I am prone to YI, and I don't know why it occurs often, but I usually get Diflucan scripts from my doctor. Apparently, oral meds aren't for me because my YI never clears. I was scared to try this because of so many bad reviews, but after I showered, I used this around midnight, and when I woke up the following morning, I felt 10x better. Still, little swelling, but no pain, burning, or itching. I went to urinate, and there was a lot of discharge/meds exiting my body, so I would recommend wearing a pad after using this applicator. Hopefully, this clears up for good within the next few days. Good luck, ladies!"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "Just inserted the medicine yesterday afternoon for what I believe was a very mild yeast infection. I did not have any type of itching, burning, or odor. I just had an unusual discharge-white in color and tiny chunks. I read it could be thrush and decided to try over-the-counter medicine as I thought this YI was due to a new BC (Seasonique) + a lot of weekly stress, so I felt that’s what had brought it on. I came on this forum to see other side effects? And I’m just hoping mine will go away. The swelling and burning came on at night, couldn’t even touch there. Now, today lots of discharge-“cottage cheese.” Sorry about the graphics, hoping this goes away! Had to give BF excuses because it’s embarrassing. How long does your body take to rid body of the med/discharge?"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "DO NOT BE SCARED OF THIS MED! I've used everything under the sun for recurrent YIs, and honestly, Monistat keeps it away the longest. I'm pretty sensitive down there, and I've tried Monistat 1 & 3, and I've never experienced this burning and pain other women talk about. I will say that it makes the itching worse at first, and your lady bits will be swollen for a few days while the infection clears up, but nothing crazy! I know everyone is different, but come on, ladies, YIs suck, but don't blame the med! (Giving 9 stars because it doesn't completely stop me from having YIs every other month or so, but that's a lost cause at this point LOL)"

For Vaginal Yeast Infection "Holy moly, it's on fire. Oh my goodness! I had a very mild itch, so I figured it was a yeast infection. I bought the Monistat-1 because who wants to do that for more than one day. After I inserted it and put the cream on, the burning and itching began. Uncontrollable itching inside and out. Swollen, red, hot, burning, itching!!!! I think bleeding a little too! NEVER AGAIN!!! I just poured cold water on the area to try and calm the situation down. It’s been 3 hours of pain and burning so far!"
