For Heart Attack "After taking this medicine for over 2 years, had gout every 10 days or so even though I followed all good gout dietary advice and virtually became a vegetarian. This medicine was indicated to me as the Rolls Royce of antiplatelet medicines. Asked the cardiologist to take me off it and onto Clopidogrel. He took me off Ticagrelor Brillique and put me on 75 mg aspirin daily. That was 2 months ago. Haven't had a gout attack since. I do not like Ticagrelor. In my opinion, it should not be prescribed for gout sufferers because there are alternatives that have only marginally worse outcomes in terms of mortality, stroke, etc. International studies have shown that the effects on gout sufferers have been underestimated. Not a medicine I would want to take again. Also caused numerous bleeding marks from time to time under my skin. OK, it might have saved me from further cardio issues, but who knows that?"

Ticagrelor for Heart Attack "I had a widowmaker heart attack with a 100 percent blockage. I had a stent placed, and I was put on Brilinta and Asa. I have been on them for over a year, and I have anxiety about stopping the Brilinta. I have shortness of breath with exertion, but not at rest, so I do not really think it's from the Brilinta. I believe it has treated me well, and I am thankful for it."

Ticagrelor for Coronary Artery Disease "Had 2 stents inserted and given Plavix. On 6th day, developed a rash on the right hip, buttock, and groin - hundreds of tiny red bloody spots. Switched to Brilinta. Rash disappeared. About 10 days after the initial dose of Brilinta, had occasional spontaneous but limited bleeding on legs, arms, and back. This stopped after about 2 weeks."

For Heart Attack "I had stents after a heart attack and put on Brilinta - it is a horrible, nasty drug. I got my doctor to take me off it. The side effects are so bad, I felt like a zombie in a trance state. My skin went so bad, bruises, cuts, blisters. My mental health went worse, confused, lost my phone, bank card while on it. I feel so much better since I stopped taking it. Some medication doesn't suit everybody."

For Prevention of Atherothrombotic Events "I have been on 90 mg for a year and a half, and 8 months ago, began having diarrhea 5 x a day, so asked if I could take the 60 mg and started on that a week ago and still have diarrhea. It may be isosorbide, but I am thinking of changing to Plavix. Does anyone else have diarrhea?"

Ticagrelor for Acute Coronary Syndrome "I have 27 stents. Recently, I was put on Brilinta and feel like I could sleep all day. I have shortness of breath. I have heartburn with this terribly. I thought it was my imagination until I read the reviews, and wow, I am not crazy after all. I just hope the side effects get better as I work a job, and the fatigue is awful. I was on Plavix, but the blockages kept coming. I like Plavix better, but hopefully the side effects will lighten up."

Ticagrelor for Heart Attack "After suffering a widow-maker heart attack in October 2020, I was put on ticagrelor twice daily with dispersible aspirin. Sometimes I feel I have to gulp for air, and I cannot sleep for long periods, waking two or three times during the night. The most distressing side effects for me are the painful, heavy bruising. I checked this morning and I have a total of 15 bruises. They are all really painful, with red, swollen lumps in the center. My cardiologist has insisted that I remain on this medication to prevent another serious heart attack."

For Acute Coronary Syndrome "I am taking Brilinta along with Eliquis and aspirin after angioplasty and stent. I have no way to know how effective it is, but have not had a stroke, which I'm told is the purpose. I have difficulty with painful breathing when standing or walking, brief painful headache at the same time. For about 8 to 9 hours after taking it, I have much difficulty standing or walking. I am 77 years old, and it was suggested that my age makes me more vulnerable, but I have had no problem with bleeding. I am diabetic, but lancing for glucose testing presents no more blood than usual. I feel very lethargic but not sleepy."

For Heart Attack "I was taking ticagrelor 90 mg twice a day for a year. Horrid side effects, tiredness, bruising, nosebleeds, and every other month I couldn’t walk properly, my feet were like glass. Turns out it was gout (not in toes, in feet). Came off the ticagrelor 2 weeks ago, feel much better, breathing improved, no pain in my joints, no bleeding, and no bruising. Very nasty tablet!!!!"

For Acute Coronary Syndrome "I am 68 years old, taking Brilinta (ticagrelor) since December 2015 after having a heart attack and insertion of one stent. During the first few months, I had a problem with even minor bruises when the blood was not clotting easily. Otherwise, I have not experienced any internal bleeding or shortness of breath, even when I was walking at a moderate speed of 4.5 to 5 km per hour for 30-45 mins. I have also had a problem of acute pancreatitis, for which my food is low in fat for the last few years. I only have to watch after the completion of one year."

For Heart Attack "Had a heart attack 3 months ago - one stent. Put on ticagrelor, aspirin, etc. Had breathing difficulties, bad upper back pain, which gradually moved to the heart area. Caused 2 emergency hospital visits for nothing because it was caused by the ticagrelor, even though my cardiologist vehemently denied this. Fortunately, the hospital staff suggested Plavix and my GP complied. Beginning to feel like myself at last."

For Acute Coronary Syndrome "Two years ago, in April 2018, I experienced an acute burning sensation in my chest for 3 days. I ended up in the hospital and had 3 stents inserted into my heart (2 in the morning and another one in the evening) for a distal left main stenosis which extended into the LAD. Besides my usual daily b.p. medication plus 100 mg Cartia, I was also put onto Brilinta, one 90 mg tablet twice daily. I was on it for 2 years and did experience bruising and shortness of breath, but I had shortness of breath well before the stents were put in. My cardio has now reduced Brilinta to 1/2 a dose of one 90 mg tablet twice a day."

Ticagrelor for Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "This is a terrible medication in my opinion, with ramifications that go well beyond lack of energy, breathing problems, and dietary restrictions. The company even advises users not to shave with a blade. That should tell you enough. There are also a multitude of medications for which Brilinta is contraindicated. If you suffer from sciatic pain, the only medication you can use is OxyCodone or a similar narcotic with terrible chances of becoming addicted. Prescribing doctors need to do much more research prior to writing a script for this med. Even many pharmacologists warn about Brilinta."

For Myocardial Infarction, Prophylaxis "Prescribed 90 mg 2x per day for right descending ACS and stent. Early on, I had chest pain and anxiousness so much that I had additional troponin tests. Stuck with it, even with some muscle pain, and now after one year, I am back to swimming 3K meters 3x per week with my masters program. I'm just about back to normal but still have some shortness of breath."

Ticagrelor for Coronary Artery Disease "I was given a preload of Brilinta during stent placement. Awoke from the procedure struggling to breathe, feeling very scared. My fight or flight was triggered, and I wanted to remain standing despite nurses asking me to lay down and remain calm. A few hours after I was released, the paramedics were taking me back to the ER. It has been four months after taking Brilinta for one week, and I still can't breathe normally."
