For Bacterial Skin Infection "So many negative reviews on this Bactrim that it surprised me because it worked great for me, and I didn’t notice any adverse conditions whatsoever. Maybe only negative people write reviews, and all the positive ones are out playing and don’t have time to write. Thanks, Doc. Good call on my meds."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I never had an allergic reaction until I took this medication. Now I learned the hard way I'm allergic to sulfa drugs. After one dose, I had a lot of serious side effects: high fever, intense stomach pain, insomnia, hallucinations, anxiety, non-stop chills/shaking, vomiting, and rash. Needless to say, I ended up in the hospital for 3 days. I think that you need to be careful when taking the drug and be aware of all the serious side effects."

For Bacterial Skin Infection "I began getting serious boils in the worst places a man could ever get them. A nurse friend of mine, knowing I was diabetic, said that many diabetics get boils in the genital area and suggested I take Bactrim. This drug cleared them up quickly, leaving me to be one happy man."

For Urinary Tract Infection "This drug is terrible! Run if the doctor prescribes this. Day 1, I had a headache and aches to my kidneys. Like I could literally feel the pain in my kidneys! I felt bloated, vomiting, fever of 101, pain in my kidneys, jittery, and chills. Please, please don't take it. The ratio of the ones that had no symptoms to the ones who did is a big difference! I took it for 2 days, then threw the rest down the toilet. The ONLY good thing was I took 1 dose, and the next day felt relief... but still... eff this stuff!"

For Bacterial Skin Infection "I took Bactrim for a bacterial infection under my skin, on my face, that resulted in many cystic-like bumps. They were so painful. After taking the medicine for just a few days, the swelling and pain went away, and the bumps cleared up. I would take this medicine again."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was prescribed Bactrim DS for a UTI. I drank a full glass of water with every dose and continued to drink large amounts of water throughout the day. I also made sure to take this on a full stomach. I’m a healthy 26-year-old female and this is my first UTI. After taking Bactrim for 24 hours, I experienced severe side effects. I had debilitating kidney pain and lower back pain, severe gas, foamy explosive diarrhea, bloating, racing heart rate, severe anxiety (almost to the point of paranoia), and brain fog. I could not even hold a simple conversation. I felt like I was dying. After reading many reviews online, I discovered these same side effects have affected so many others while taking Bactrim. Once the drug was out of my system and I discontinued use, these side effects subsided. This antibiotic may work for some, but be aware of the possible severe side effects when you are assessing the risk of taking Bactrim."

For Urinary Tract Infection "This is definitely my favorite medicine to treat urinary tract infections. I have a longstanding history with UTIs, one even sent me to the ER. The best part about this medicine is that it works quickly, and I feel relief within the first dose, which is great. I tried nitrofurantoin once and absolutely hated it because of the side effects and will stick with this. Luckily I've never experienced any negative side effects, and I've taken it with and without food. No nausea, nothing! It's definitely a hefty-sized pill, though."

For Bacterial Infection "This drug was almost the end of me. I had taken it several times before with no issues. However, this time I took three pills and ended up in the hospital with Stevens-Johnson syndrome, which is a serious severe reaction. It started with blisters covering the inside of my mouth. And then it spread all over my face and chest. I felt like I was literally ON FIRE!!! After very large doses of steroids and antihistamines, we were able to save my face. No scarring, thank God. But 2 months later, and I’m still struggling with the feeling of my face and chest getting really hot."

For Acne "I am 52 with hormonal acne. My cysts were terrible. It did a number on my confidence. I have been on Bactrim for over a year for the cysts, and finally, something is working. I tried every other medicine with no results. I'm not sure how long I can be on this, but I never want to stop. I'm afraid if I stop, the cysts will return."

For Bacterial Skin Infection "I was prescribed Bactrim for a 10-day course to treat a Staph infection in my skin. I had no issues other than fatigue for the first 6 days, but by day 7, I woke up feeling dizzy and so tired. I kept pushing on, taking the tablets because it was working to clear boils. By days 8-9, I had a rash over my body. I felt so lightheaded. Even lying down, my body ached as if I had the flu."

For Urinary Tract Infection "My anxiety and mental health were under control until I got a mild UTI and was prescribed Bactrim. My heart rate skyrocketed for days, it induced panic attacks. I had no idea what was happening to me until I looked up the reviews and realized I was reacting to the Bactrim. My heart rate reached 130 bpm at one point, and I went to the doctor to have my heart checked. I took 4 doses and will never take this again. It ruined my life. Two weeks later, I’m still recovering from the anxiety it caused. I am angry this medication was prescribed to me."

For Acne "I have been on Bactrim Rx for about three weeks now, and I already see a dramatic improvement in my skin. All my cystic bumps are gone, haven’t had any active breakouts since the day I started it. My skin feels smooth and looks alive and glowing. My only problem was that it made me very nauseous (as most antibiotics do for me), so I would have to take it after a full meal. But I highly recommend talking to your dermatologist about this medication if you are tired of suffering and being depressed about your skin. It’ll be 100% worth it!"

For Bacterial Skin Infection "I was first prescribed Augmentin for an infection from a puncture wound near the nail bed of my thumb. It made me feel like I was suffering from morning sickness and did not work. Next, I got Flagyl and Bactrim. The culture showed the Staph was sensitive to Bactrim, and the wound is so much better! Yes, there are some side effects (for me, insomnia, but I don't know if that is Flagyl or Bactrim), but it is so much better than losing my finger! I also took Florastor with the medication to reduce intestinal upset and experienced none."

For Bacterial Skin Infection "I have just recently got out of a living environment with a bunch of roommates. I found a small pimple under my arm and thought nothing of it. After a week, it was so swollen and hot to touch that I went to the ER. The doctor didn't want to cut the 'pimple' open, but I begged him to because of the pain-and he was glad he did. The amount of bacteria that came out was astonishing! He put me on Bactrim, and even though I had some side effects, it went away. But then I got another abscess on my head about 2 months later. I took Bactrim, and it went away. Then, 2 months after that, I got another abscess on my finger. I took Bactrim, and it went away. Now I once again have 3 abscesses under my armpit and am currently on Bactrim again! 4 months later!"

For Bacterial Skin Infection "I have severe medical anxiety thanks to terrible reactions to medications that started after a surgery. I’ve been on too many that made me feel absolutely crazy and had terrible side effects. I made the mistake of reading these reviews before starting Bactrim and was absolutely terrified. I took the first pill and immediately knew I was going to die and had terrible anxiety about this reaction I was going to have. But, guess what? I was fine! I just took my last dose of a 7-day course, and the only issue I had was making the mistake of going in the sun. I ended up burning a lot quicker than normal (there’s a warning for that). In fact, it had a pro to it… turns out it also helped my never-ending stomach issues. Don’t let the other reviews scare you. As someone else said, most people only take the time to write reviews after a negative experience. That’s why I decided to start reviewing my positive ones."

For Bacterial Infection "This was not right for me. I had a severe reaction while taking this and had to go to the emergency room. Racing/irregular heartbeat, nausea, shaky legs felt weird, red blotches, slurring speech, red eyes, feverish, and generally felt very unwell."

For Bacterial Infection "I am 30. I recently had a vasectomy, which caused an infection while healing. Doctor prescribed Bactrim. I noticed after my nightly dosage, I would constantly wake up like I previously would when having an anxiety attack. I thought it was just due to outside stress, but after reading this page, I see it may have been increased by this medication. I wish I would have known sooner. Bactrim helped with my ailments but also made me use the last of my emergency Xanax in the process."

For Acne "If you just started this medicine, I know you're probably feeling bad about your acne. BUT LISTEN, Bactrim works from the inside out, and if you break out in the first few weeks, that's fine. Stick with it because soon your skin will be clear, and Bactrim will help stop breakouts from ever happening in the first place soon! Cleared my hormonal acne. I rarely get a pimple, and I had moderate to severe acne, and it was a lifesaver! Your acne will be cleared in just a few months. I suggest using a topical gel as well. Hang in there, it helped me during a rough time. In just 3 1/2 months, I had a clear face, just a few acne marks on my cheeks. The only thing that stinks is I'm scared to go off the antibiotic and have a relapse of acne. But I suggest this!"

For Acne "I hope this helps for anyone who is wanting to take Bactrim. I got prescribed this by my dermatologist about a year and a half ago, and it’s worked wonders! Everyone’s bodies react differently to medications, but from my experience, I can honestly say that it’s cleared up my acne completely, and I had no side effects whatsoever."

For Sinusitis "After three days of prescribed use of the generic Bactrim, my headaches and nasal discharge have decreased dramatically. Side effects: insomnia (reason I am writing this review), pain in jaw and throat if not taken with ample water."

For Kidney Infections "I was a bit of a moron and let a UTI go for too long. I had pain on and off for a few months in my back. Pee was cloudy, frequent urination... all that good stuff, but two days ago, I woke up and felt absolutely terrible. I was so nauseous, couldn’t eat anything, awful headache, chills, and the worst back pain I had ever felt. I went to the doctor, and she wrote this for me. I took two pills yesterday, and already today I feel a hundred times better. I don’t believe it is for everyone, obviously, due to the mixed reviews, and my mother had taken it before, and it had awful effects on her as well, but I do believe it’s worth trying because for me, it’s been wonderful. I couldn’t even bend over yesterday, and today all I have is slight dull pain in my back. Worked perfectly."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was prescribed Bactrim and felt worse right away. After reading the side effects, I told myself that what I was feeling was normal. I took the prescribed dosage (2 per day) for 5 days, feeling even worse on the 5th day - shaky, diarrhea, headache, nervousness, unable to sleep. Then, after some research, I discovered that there also were interaction side effects with my blood pressure medications."

For Bacterial Infection "My daughter was contaminated with stenotrophomonas maltophilia bacteria during a pleural drainage procedure a year ago, and for a year, the bacteria has been treated with sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim (TMPX). The bacteria became MDR after nine months of continuous treatment, and my daughter developed acute renal failure after the overuse of this antibiotic."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I used to get UTIs every month or two until I finally started my daily dose of raw organic apple cider vinegar with “mother” mixed with honey water. It has been the only thing that has helped. I am now on my 8th month of no UTIs! It really surprised me as I’m not big into homeopathic remedies."

For Acne "I’ve been on Bactrim DS for 7 years. I’ll always stay on it, and I’ve had zero side effects. Just 75-95% clearer skin depending upon the time of month. My blood work is perfect, I’m extremely fit, so there’s no reason you can’t stay on it for extended periods if it is a serious problem for you and you tolerate it well. I’d rather lose 5 years of life than go back to how I was. I get a special long-term prescription, and my life has been handed back to me after 15 years of Accutane, tetracyclines, and mycins. Nothing works like this. I’m not on birth control. It gives me the worst acne. This is what’s right for me. 10/10"
