Durolane (sodium hyaluronate) "Day three after my first Durolane shots in both knees. Right knee, no problem. Left knee, pain with some swelling for two days. Now feeling great! I am excited to see how the next few months go. Word of advice...ice, elevate and Aleve. Rest for 48 hours...it’s worth it! Good luck"

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) "Using euflexxa about 10 years and has extremely helped my my bone-on-bone pain. In the beginning it lasted up to 2 years w/o pain. I get them every 6 months now or longer if I have no pain. Better than steroids. Never had side affects"

Durolane (sodium hyaluronate) "I had both knees injected on Feb 7. I have had synvisc injections 3X's over the past 5 years. The doctor suggested durolane. She said, it would be one injection instead of 3 like the synvisc. The synvisc had worked great for me. Since she said it would work the same, I agreed to do it. The pain was unbearable!!!!!! When I left the office, I could barely walk. I had to keep my hand on the wall to maintain my balance. When I got home, it was very difficult to walk up and down the stairs. I can't believe they allow this injection to be used. It's been almost 5 months and I'm still having difficulty walking. I have a tingling feeling above the knee and in my foot. I'm sure there is going to be some lawsuits over durolane. This should never be used on anybody!!!!"

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) "I am a 36 year old male police officer and avid outdoor enthusiast. I had my 2nd ACL surgery in 2012. I am very active and having constant knee pain was not an option. My doctor decided to try Orthovist injections to help with the arthritis. The Orthovist worked great. Unfortunately my insurance required my doctor to switch to Euflexxa. After my first injection I was in incredible pain. The second shot my knee swelled and the pain was unbearable. The third shot was even worse. I ran a fever, had nausea, headaches; basic flu like symptoms. I have read a lot of the reviews on this website. It seems like patients either have good results or results like mine. I want future patients to be aware of the potential risks."

Durolane (sodium hyaluronate) "This stuff is awesome! The awful side effects that people have mentioned sound like what happened to me with a cortisone shot. It's NOT the injection or the medicine. Your doctor/PA/MA injected the needle into your nerve. I had the exact same thing happen to me. It took one month for the inflammation and pain to go away. The nerve pain was unbearable. I couldn't sleep, walk, sit, or stand up properly. Then, I went to a different PA who injected the Durolane above my knee, not into the nerves on the side. What a difference it made! It didn't hurt at all, not even the lidocaine. I experienced no side effects, just a little pain from the injection. But applying ice for 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off took care of that during the first 24 hours. I can't emphasize enough to most of you that Durolane is NOT the problem! You're suffering from intolerable nerve pain. This stuff really works and has made a huge difference in my quality of life!"

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) "I am a 62 yr old male who has played soccer up to the age of 44 when my knees stopped me. I have endured the pain from bone to bone osteoarthritis for over 16 yrs. The pain would be moderate sometimes and debilitating at other times. After my first shot of Euflexxa in both knees, 4 weeks ago I was amazed at how pain free I was walking around. I have just completed my 3rd shot and am still amazed. I am hoping to stave off TKR for as long as possible. Thanks to Euflexxa this will be a reality."

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) "I'd read several reviews about how bad the injection was, etc, and to be honest, they scared me to death. Today I just had my first injection. It was zero pain, and maybe it's in my head, but my knee already feels better. Typically on these sites you only hear from people who've had a bad experience. So far, for me - (fingers crossed) - it's been good."

Durolane (sodium hyaluronate) "Upon reading all of the negative reviews, I chose not to have the injection. The following day I thought.... this is my only chance at having a better life! Well thank GOD I manned up!! I just had the shot a couple hours ago. The injection was OK 2/3 through but at the final 1/3 it did get a little uncomfortable but I knew things could only get better after this ! I say GO FOR IT! Better off giving it a shot Lol. Than to wonder if it would have...."

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) "Have had knee pain for going on 10 years. Got to the point I couldn't take it any more and went to an ortho doc. He said right knee total bone on bone osteoarthritis and left knee is following but not completely bone on bone yet. He suggested Euflexxa shots, saying only other treatment would be a partial knee replacement. I figured it wouldn't hurt. I had the shots in December, 2012. First shot, no difference. Second shot, seemed to feel better, 3rd shot no change. About a month after getting them my knees still hurt. Figured it didn't work. But now two months later, I can actually go up and down stairs with minimal pain. I can go shopping and as long as it isn't all day affair, I do fine. Didn't take pain away completely, but is better"

Gelsyn-3 (sodium hyaluronate) "I received Gelsyn 3 injections in both knees, my doctor changed my medicine from Supartz to the Gelsyn 3 without consulting with me about the medicine change. I had extreme pain in both knees and dizziness upon leaving the doctor's office which only became worse along with injection site pain and excessive kneecap area swelling. Terrible bone and muscle pain all the way along my femur bones . Also hives around injection site. After each shot I had a terrible trouble walking and had to be on bed rest for 3 to 5 days after each injection. Rest assured I will never have these injections again, and as of today I still haven't had any relief and I'm still in pain everyday. The injections actually made my knees worse. I have problems from these injections and pain that I didn't even have prior to this terrible drug. I reportedly side effects to my doctor and the drug company but nobody seems concerned. I have never regretted anything more."

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) "I'm 61. Late last year, I began having very painful osteoarthritis in both knees. Dr. said I'm nowhere near bone on bone, but I could hardly move. I got cortisone shots which helped, but I still had pain and could hardly walk. I felt 100 years old. I just completed a series of Euflexxa and I am walking normally again! I have over 40 stairs in my house and I am so far back to normal! This has been a lifesaver. I thought I was permanently disabled but I'm walking with no pain."

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) "I am over a week out from my 3rd shot of Euflexxa in my knee. Pain in knee continues to worsen each day to the point that I can barely walk. I know this is not normal, but doctor won't listen to my complaints about this drug. Wish I never did the shots. P.S. My doctor recommended Monovisc, but my stupid insurance company would only approve Euflexxa. Not sure where to go from here...hope this disaster isn't permanent."

Durolane (sodium hyaluronate) "I had one injection in each knee. The first 48 hrs I rested and limited movements. No pain nor swelling from injections. My left knee had been really painful 5-6months before treatment. Both knees are bone on bone. The pain from the stress on the left knee is subsiding daily now. I'm having to learn to walk normal again but I am so happy I had the injections. I will be having knee replacements sometime next year but this will give me time to loose weight and get my legs back in shape."

Gelsyn-3 (sodium hyaluronate) "I was seriously considering knee replacements, but at the age of 59, my doctor suggested getting these injections to get some more years out of my knees. I'm so happy I did it. I used to power-walk for 4 miles quite frequently, but with the arthritis I could just walk slowly for about a quarter mile. After the injections, I'm doing great and I'm back to power-walking. As of now, it has been two months since my injection."

Gelsyn-3 (sodium hyaluronate) "I had bad knees and had to hang on to the railing and felt a lot of pain going up the stairs. I had 3 injections of Gelsyn-3 around July of this year. I had wanted knee replacement but my doctor my doctor said that should be the last option. I had babied my knees because of the pain. Then the nurse told me that before I am given knee replacement they would like to see my knees get stronger. So I started exercising my knees which felt a little better after the injections. Now I can go up the stairs without pain and can sometimes try to scamper up the stairs. I will continue my exercises and after 6 months see if another round of shots is required."

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) "This was my first Euflexxa injection out of a series of three. I see a lot of people saying their injections were painful, I'm just wondering that their doctor use an ultrasound machine and watch through a sonogram while injecting? Because my injection was painless completely I didn't even feel the needle, he used the machine to watch on the screen first the injected lidocaine, kept the needle in the joint unscrew the barrel and then put the new barrel with euflexxa on so I didn't have to be poked twice very gentle. But I'm a little concerned now hearing about all of these stories of pain after the injections I don't feel any after my first one .. I'm hoping that this works for me because the clicking and popping from the patella femur arthritis syndrome so bad and the stiffness and pain is unbearable..."

Supartz (sodium hyaluronate) "I was taking Vicodin during the day and Oxycodone to sleep at night because of the severe pain I was in with osteoarthritis. After a series of 5 shots in each knee, I have experienced complete relief for 2 years. Just recently I have started feeling the beginnings of some joint pain and am scheduled to begin the series of shots today. I'm hoping this round is as successful as the last."

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) "I used Euflexxa for the first time in April 2019. Prior to that I always used Hyalgan which is the original form for this treatment and had very good results. I question my doctor on why he would want to change but he said it was a better treatment. Well, that was not the case. It was the worst thing I have ever done to my body. Within three weeks of my final injection my body went into systemic inflammatory response, I had an allergic reaction and developed something that is called poly myalgia. There is no question if Euflexxa caused the situation. Two months prior to getting the injections I had my blood work done and I was very healthy. One month after using Euflexxa, my inflammatory markers went through the roof. I was in bed for over two months. I have now been on steroids since July 2 and I'm getting better. I would stay away from that stuff."

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) "60 year old women with bone on bone and need TKR, however my doctor suggested Euflexxa saying I was too young for surgery. I am one and a half months out from my third injection. After the first injection I was able to sleep through the night without my knees locking, which was a huge improvement. My doctor said to take it easy for 48 hours after each injection and to ice four times a day. Right knee responded much better than the left, but I do have some pain relief in both knees. I started Physical Therapy 4 weeks prior to the injections and the doctor advised to continue as long as my insurance will pay. My doctor advised I will be at my optimum 3 months out from the third injection."

Euflexxa (sodium hyaluronate) "I am 41 years old and have osteoarthritis in both knees. I have tried everything from steroid injections, medications, and physical therapy without any long term relief. The steroid injections were really painful and didn't last, so I was very hesitant to try the Euflexxa. My Orthopedic Dr. gave me two choices (lubrication injections or arthroscopy). I knew that I didn't want the arthroscopy so I went for the Euflexxa. I was terrified but needed some relief. My first injection hurt a little and my knees were sore for a few hours. My second injection hurt a little more and was sore a little longer than the first time. I will have my third injection in 2 days and can't wait. I am so glad that I did it! My knee pain is very minimal."

Gelsyn-3 (sodium hyaluronate) "I just finished the third injection of Gelsyn. I went to the Ortho because my kees hurt at night. I was able to walk, work on my vegetable garden, and my flower bed before the injections. Now, I am not able to do anything, my knees hurt all the time and every time that I walk there is so much pain in my knees and run through my legs. Every morning when I get up, the pain is so excruciated I that have to used a walker all the time now. I sent a message to my doctor and he responded that if I am on blood thinner or have kidney problems, they can't do anything. I responded that I am not either one. He didn't tell me about the side effects. I trusted him and now I am a cripple. The nurse that administer the shots, said that it will take 6 weeks to feel better. I will see if it is true. 5/11/21"

Durolane (sodium hyaluronate) "I got a durolane injection on Tuesday. Just in left knee. So glad I decided against getting both knees done. First day was ok. I had some soreness but my pain continues to get worst each day. It is extremely difficult to get a good nights rest. I have difficulty walking. I was doing so much better prior to the injection. I did the one thing I tell everyone else. Don't put your faith in the doctor because they don't know everything. I so wished I had done my research then I would not be in this excruciating pain. No more of any kind injections for me. I can deal with my normal discomfort. But this pain is almost unbearable. Do your research!!"
