For Osteoarthritis "Bone on bone, both knees, advanced arthritis, terrified of the replacement surgery. Durolane, 8 days ago, I feel great. I have varying degrees of pain after the injection that lasted a few days, back using a cane for a couple of them, so there was some discomfort. I couldn't sit down and ice them for the recommended time, though. I think this is the miracle drug, folks, own a farm and can get around for the first time in a couple years. Walking on stairs, up and down hills, gravel and fields again."

For Osteoarthritis "I had Durolane injections in both knees one week, 5 days ago. The injection in my right knee was very painful. The injection in my left knee was not quite as bad. I was able to drive myself home, but by that evening, I couldn't put any weight on my knees, and we had to pull out the crutches I had relied on for foot surgery. The next day was no better. Getting in and out of a chair was excruciating, and I had to have help. Same situation with getting up and down the stairs. I couldn't do it without butt climbing. Fortunately, my husband was here to help. I slowly improved, but one week after the injections, I still couldn't drive safely. It was very painful to lift my foot on and off the gas and brakes. At this point, I am better, but I'm going to try and find a new orthopedic doctor who can see me this week. I want to know what went wrong! I broke down into tears several times in the past week and a half, and the physician who gave me the injections has been avoiding me."

For Osteoarthritis "I have had injections of 1 mg in each big toe joint over the last 2 years for severe OA. The total is 4 sessions. The first time I had relief within 5 hours. I had no side effects, and I had success in pain relief and mobility. Second injections were 9 months later, and again, no side effects. I was told they don’t usually last a full year, and I was lucky the injections lasted for that time period. Cost was $420 for both feet and covered by my insurance. The third time was a year ago, and it was a success. I had recent injections this week, and the experience was different. I have had a reaction in both feet of swelling and pain around the joints. Hope it goes away soon. I can’t get my shoes on. I have tried icing and pain relievers, but nothing helps so far."

For Osteoarthritis "I developed pain in early May and basically have had to wear a brace on my knee most of the summer. I got my injection on October 8, 2019. I was concerned by the number of negative comments on this site. Thankful my experience was positive. Yes, it hurt a lot during and for the next 24-48 hours. I was very cautious and applied ice frequently, as well as used Advil. Uncomfortable, but a week later I am very happy with the results. I have some discomfort, but have better mobility and less pain, for sure."

For Osteoarthritis "Hyalgan is much better. I've been taking a round of 5 Hyalgan shots every 6 months for 10 years. Well, lo and behold, it isn't the 'preferred product' for my insurance. They made me try Durolane before they would approve Hyalgan. It has been 7 days, and I am in excruciating pain. The Hyalgan shots only hurt for a couple of days, and the pain was more mild. This has been 7 days of barely being able to make it through the workday, my pain is so bad. I took my temperature tonight, and I have a low-grade fever (no other symptoms other than pain). I am calling my doctor tomorrow. This is horrible."

For Osteoarthritis "It is very painful at first. My doctor gave me one injection in the right knee and waited one week for the second injection in the left knee. I started to feel the benefits about a month after I had the injections. The pain that you feel in the first two weeks is bearable compared to the therapeutic effect. I was able to walk without a walker, the pain went away. This is my second set of injections, and I just got my first injection yesterday. I'm in a lot of pain right now. The second injection is going to be administered next week, and I am more than eager to get it because of the therapeutic effect. I had Synvisc injections before, and they didn't last as long as Durolane. Every case is different, but in my case, Durolane is better than Synvisc. I give it a 10. I have a lot of resilience when it comes to pain, I had 2 babies that weighed over 10 pounds each. I feel like a cavewoman, the delivery was normal, no cesarean."

For Osteoarthritis "I have right knee bone on bone. I'm 63; my ortho said I had the most impressive OA she'd seen in someone my age in a while. I got a Durolane injection two weeks ago tomorrow. Hurt like the dickens going in. Pain has been constant since I got the injection. It waxes and wanes but is ALWAYS there. 600 mg Ibuprofen, ice, pillow between knees when I sleep, hip hurting and ankle hurting. Will this pain EVER get better? At this point, I wouldn't recommend or do this again. Had had three cortisone injections, but they seemed to mess with my heart. That's why I tried the Durolane. I'd rather go back to cortisone and take my chances. This is just my experience. Will call about more physical therapy tomorrow, too. Good luck, everyone!"

For Osteoarthritis "Had Durolane injection June 13, 2019, in hips. Came out of the doctor's worse than when I went in. Extreme pain and discomfort. Taking Naproxen regularly with no relief. Can barely walk and has worsened my quality of life. I would not do it again and would not recommend it. Very expensive as well, not covered by insurance."

For Osteoarthritis "Got my Durolane in my left knee 18 days ago. I would say it’s twice as bad as before the injection. I’m just trying to push through the pain and continue on. It’s better if I just ice it and do nothing, but how can you live like that? Doesn’t seem to make it worse if I just push through the pain and continue exercising and walking. So that’s what I’m doing. It was much better before the shot."

For Osteoarthritis "Had my right knee injected yesterday morning (10:30 a.m.), it is now 4 a.m. the next day, and the pain is unreal, worst that I have experienced. Walking is almost impossible, it hurts so much. Now it is a waiting game to see how long it takes to settle down and give me some relief from the bone-on-bone experience. DVA paid for the drug and its injection."

For Osteoarthritis "I let my doctor talk me into the Durolane injection, one in each knee. I have had many injections in both knees over many years, but this injection was excruciatingly painful while the medication was being injected. My left knee injection was okay when finished, but after my right knee was injected, the pain was almost unbearable, I could not even get off the table in the doctor's office. The doctor told me to move my leg back and forth, I couldn’t, the pain was so bad. The doctor said it was because the shot was so thick and three shots in one, and he left the room. My husband had to get me off the table and practically carry me to our car. The pain was terrible for days, and when it finally started to stop hurting from the Durolane, my original knee pain was worse than before. I will NEVER get a Durolane injection again! I would rate it a -10 and should be taken off the market!!"

For Osteoarthritis "I had been taking various anti-inflammatory medications since injuring my knee over 10 years ago. I started getting Durolane injections during the last 5 years and have experienced both good results and bad reactions, the first few years and my most recent one being good. I had two last year that started to get extremely painful within a week, which lasted for many weeks before finally settling down. I have found I have less downtime by having it early in the day as the knee is less inflamed, trying to avoid twisting and standing activity as much as possible during the first few weeks, and by having it done every 6 months. I have not been able to return to my pre-injury life, however, I am grateful that it has removed some of the daily discomfort. I previously tried Synvisc One, which did not provide any relief."

For Osteoarthritis "This is day 6 post-Durolane injection. Pain from the injection has been terrible. As it was going in, the injection was off-the-charts painful. I could barely walk out after sitting for 30 minutes. I have had Synvisc and never had a problem. This drug is pure agony. DO NOT recommend it. Like someone else said, unless you enjoy out-of-your-mind pain 24/7. After reading these reviews: 1. Have a doctor do it, not a PA. 2. Several who had ultrasound-guided injection had good results. Mine was not done that way. 3. Do your homework, as I took the doctor's word for it. BIG mistake on me. 4. Don’t believe them when they say you may be sore for a couple of hours. I am on day 6. Day six is not as bad as day 1 and 2, but still using a walker or cane and limited mobility. I am so angry that I accepted this injection as I thought it would be like Synvisc. This is a BAD drug. Do not do it. Even if I wind up with some relief at some point, it will not be worth the pain I have gone through."

For Osteoarthritis "Had Durolane in 2019, both knees was excellent. Wish I did it again in 2020, but thought would be ok, but my knees just got worse because of work, repetitive work, and my knees are now bone on bone. Spoke to my doctor, and he said I would need a knee replacement in a year or so, so I decided to get another Durolane knee injection. I had it last Friday, 4/23/2021, and needed to rest for 3 days, which I did. It's been very good, just need to take it easy. Pain and swelling come and go, at least I can sleep at night. I did some research, and they say that it takes a week or so for the best results, so far not bad. I just need to really take it easy. I am going to do the left knee too soon and will post for updates. I think you just have to wait, say, 2 weeks for the best results to kick in."

For Osteoarthritis "I love this stuff! I have been on so many drugs, and none of them worked. I first tried it on my right knee, as I had a huge deductible on my insurance. After two weeks, I could not believe how much more range of motion I had because my pain was so much less. I pretty much went from not being able to sleep because of pain to being able to sleep without even noticing my knee. As soon as I switched insurances, I decided to get both knees done. It is fantastic. I have read some of the bad reviews, and no one says how the injection was done. My doctor does an ultrasound-guided injection, and with three injections so far, I have had no problems. I have had a different doctor basically cause my knee horrible pain from giving me a steroid in my knee. He just stuck it in... I have no idea what he hit, but he messed up my knee really good. If you do not have a doctor that did the injection with ultrasound guide, it is possible the damage and pain others mention is from that and not the drug itself!"

For Osteoarthritis "Worst drug on the market! I went in expecting Synvisc, which is what I had requested. I did not know I was getting Durolane, so I had not researched this. I had the injection in both knees and have been in terrible pain since. The pain keeps me awake at night, and I can hardly walk—which is now causing hip pain! My doctor says there is nothing he can do! Please do not allow your doctor to use this drug!"

For Osteoarthritis "I got the injection October 20, 2021. Worst pain in my life. Couldn’t walk for three days after. Missed a week of work. Couldn’t stand on my left leg for more than 5 minutes and still in a lot of pain. Wouldn’t take it again or recommend it to anyone."

For Osteoarthritis "I have osteoarthritis. I'm 64 years old, and have always been physically active (running, kickboxing, yoga) up until I was about 55 years old. My joint pain in my knees had become unbearable as of the last 2 years to the point where I had to do something, as much as I hated to admit. The pain was intolerable in my right knee. So I went to a sports medicine orthopedist. After x-rays and an MRI, he gave me a cortisone injection, only because it was required by insurance, and 2 weeks later I got a Durolane gel injection. Well, for the day of that injection and the following 2 days, I was in horrible pain, a lot of pressure. I cursed myself for agreeing to get it, as well as the whole medical system! But after that, I had no pain at all in that knee! They said it would probably last about 6 months, give or take, and some people even up to a year. Well, it is 1 year and 1 month later, and still no pain! I no longer run, but now I swim 30 laps or more 4 times a week, and it's great. Highly recommend this."

For Osteoarthritis "I have previously had a Synvisc injection, and it was no problem. The doctor had injected lidocaine before, no pain after. It worked great. Fast forward-new doc, nurse practitioner actually, both knees now. Durolane injection time. I'm expecting the anesthesia, only got a cold blast of a spray. Then excruciating injection, times two. 'It's a lot of pressure,' she said. I was assisted from the exam table, told to swing my legs a bit before I left. No instructions on aftercare. Twelve hours later, the pain level has not decreased. Going to be a long night. Will update."

For Osteoarthritis "The last part of the injection was painful, but over quickly. I am 2 weeks in. A waste of money, really. The pain in my knee has changed. There is some relief in the early AM, but when the pain hits, it is worse than before the injection. $1000 wasted. (I had not met my deductible yet.) I would not have gone through with it had I read these reviews. I had to research myself. Next step is knee replacement as I am quite compromised physically and 'only' 68 years old, otherwise in good health."

For Osteoarthritis "I had injections in both knees on 7/29/22. After reading the reviews, I was scared and tried to cancel the appt. The nurse persuaded me to come in for the appointment, and we could discuss my concerns. I am glad she did. I was always in pain but continued to work. (Roofing contractor). I was almost convinced that I had only two options, either live with the pain or get knee replacements. After almost three weeks, my pain has decreased to discomfort. I am up and down ladders and walk on roofs daily at 64. We will see how long this lasts. At this point, I am cautiously optimistic."

For Osteoarthritis "Had my injections in Oct of 2021 in both knees. Almost fainted and thought I was going to throw up. Had to hobble to the car, the pain was so bad. Could not go to work for two days. Fast forward to now (April 2022), and I am still experiencing very bad leg cramps. The doctors can't explain why this is happening. The cramps radiate up both legs to my hips and down my legs to my ankles. I am currently going to PT three times a week to try to get some relief. Some nights I have to sleep on my recliner, and I still don't get any relief or sleep. It's been 6 months, and I'm in so much pain, I don't know if it will ever get better... DO NOT GET THESE SHOTS. It has ruined my life."

For Osteoarthritis "This is 19 days since I had a Durolane injection, one dose to my left ankle. The terrible pain started and never left. I have been icing it and taking Tylenol every 4 hours, up to four times a day. I am totally crippled for the last 19 days, and God knows how long more. I just hope this is not a permanent disability :( If I could rate it negative, I would rate it negative. Please don't let anyone inject you with Durolane!"

For Osteoarthritis "My experience has been profoundly negative. I am now 7 days after injection and in extreme pain in the knee joint. I cannot walk without severe, debilitating pain, whereas prior to injection, the arthritis was stubborn but managed with acetaminophen. Now the pain is omnipresent and much more severe, even with copious amounts of acetaminophen and diclofenac compound."

For Osteoarthritis "I’m 29 years old and was active. I have knee pain that’s been diagnosed with osteoarthritis and floating debris with Hoffa fat pad impingement. I was given Durolane on 5 April 2023, it’s now the 25th of April, and I have been in constant pain with sharp, random shooting pains at rest. Before the injection, I was able to carry out my physio program, now I’m having to rest and ice it as it’s constantly in pain with slight swelling. My doctor has slapped me on endone and is telling me it’s all in my head. I'm beyond frustrated and emotional. I'm now waiting to see an orthopedic surgeon."
