For High Cholesterol "After taking Crestor generic, I had trouble sitting down and standing up, my muscles in my legs and shoulders are so weak and painful I have trouble entering a car and exiting a car. I am 84 years old and don’t expect to get any better."

Rosuvastatin for High Cholesterol "2nd time on Crestor. Stopped taking the first time due to leg pain. Tried it again and had side effects of gained weight, my GERD increased, had trouble getting my legs to move, nightmares, intermittent blurred vision, increased left hip pain, so I had to curl my leg up in bed instead of leaving it straight, which caused pain. I had a hard time driving due to blurry vision. Crestor is an expensive medicine. Because the HDL cholesterol numbers are decreased, well, I don't know if we know enough about cholesterol to know how much it helps. Could not stay on it long enough to see if it helped the HDL."

For High Cholesterol "I'm 55 years old and always enjoyed doing exercise and staying in shape. Before seeing a doctor, I felt youthful, energetic, and symptom-free. My doctor prescribed rosuvastatin. What a mistake! Worst of all, pain in my shoulders was so severe that I could not sleep. I have been off the medication for 12 weeks now, and the shoulder pain still exists. I have been unable to do any shoulder exercise for 16 weeks, which really makes me angry. Last year, I was swimming 80 to 100 laps per day. Now, I can't move my arms above my head. While on the medication, my body became very stiff. I walked like an 80-year-old man. I noticed my memory was failing when I had trouble recalling people's names. Fortunately, these symptoms reversed after I discontinued the medication. Now, only the shoulders are a problem. There is no treatment for statin-induced muscle pain. In other words, there is no 'safety net' when a problem occurs. I fired my primary care doctor. I just want my life back!"

Rosuvastatin for High Cholesterol "I have been on Crestor almost 1 month now, and the past few days I have been having very bad pain in my calf and lower back, only on 2.5 mg a day. After reading all this, I’m done taking it. I have thyroid that’s not working because of a brain injury, on top of many meds, and have too many places that hurt. I don’t want more pain."

For High Cholesterol "Side effects were overall muscular pain, especially at night. Burning hands sensation. Blood glucose levels (BGL) elevated. Dizziness to the point where I remained in my home, didn’t drive, or visit anyone. This aggravated my depression. I refuse to take this medication after about 3 months. Not worth the side effects."

Rosuvastatin for High Cholesterol "Less than 7 days after beginning Crestor, I had debilitating muscle pain and weakness in my legs. 5 weeks following and treatment by a neurologist who prescribed Lyrica, I am beginning to regain strength in my legs, but I continue to have pain, especially on the right side."

For Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease "I was on another statin for a couple of years. I started to have side effects: leg pain and weakness. Couldn't lift my grandson, he was 9 months old. I stopped the meds and got better within 2 weeks. The doctor started me on Crestor 5 mg every other day at bedtime. I have been waking up with headaches (something I don't suffer with) and deep muscle pain in my arm. I'm done. I refuse to take a statin ever again."

For High Cholesterol "I went on rosuvastatin about two months ago. My pain started in the neck and spread to my hips, thighs, knees, and arms. I had not learned about the side effects of statin drugs but knew the only change that had happened in my life was beginning that medication. Once I told my doctor about the pain, she took me off the medicine. I have been off it for 2 1/2 weeks, and the pain has not changed one bit. Waking up several times during the night and getting out of bed in the morning is a joke because of the pain when I move. No over-the-counter pain relievers help. I just got a referral from my doctor to see a rheumatologist who hopefully will be able to help me with the pain and figure out why I’m not getting better. My cholesterol did lower by 100 points in the month that I took it. But I will not be touching any type of statin again."

For Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease "I am 47 years old and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, which caused my LDL (bad) cholesterol level to increase to 144. Prior to this, I had no history of cholesterol problems. My doctor prescribed me Lipitor, but after a couple of weeks of taking it, I started experiencing jaw pain, as well as upper back and shoulder pain on my left side. This was concerning, so I brought it to my doctor's attention. They switched me to Crestor, but the back and shoulder pain has persisted. Although I exercise 3-4 times a week, the muscle soreness caused by these medications is different from the soreness I normally experience after workouts. I also sometimes experience brain fog and wake up feeling unwell due to muscle pain. I plan to talk to my doctor about alternative options."

Rosuvastatin for High Cholesterol "So far, so good - had to lower dosage to 5 mg since I did get some pain in my feet and tingling in the hands. I've tried Lipitor, Vytorin, and Zocor. All gave me a problem with muscle pain, some in a few months, others after a year or more."

For High Cholesterol "Absolutely never again. Rosuvastatin absolutely crippled me. Swollen knees and ankles, atrophied muscles, complete body weakness, lower back pain. It turned me into a 90-year-old with severe arthritis. My swelling is finally down, but still can barely walk from knee pain. Good luck."

For High Cholesterol "I've been taking Rosuzet for 6 years. I wasn't feeling well for years, and I thought, well, it must be arthritis. This morning, I could hardly move as the pain in my muscles in my legs and arms was excruciating, with spasms in the muscles of my legs with every step I took. I cried, then started Google, and I found this site where people share their experience with Rosuzet. I'll stop taking it from tomorrow."

For High Cholesterol "I have been on this drug at 10 mg every day and have had muscle and joint pain along with sharp stabbing pains throughout my body at different times of the day/night. I contacted my cardiologist, and she said to take one pill every other day. Have been doing so for the last several months and have had no relief from the reduced dosage. Have blood work coming up in a couple of weeks and a follow-up visit with the doctor and will see what the results are and make a decision on what to do next. It did take care of my high LDL problem within a matter of a couple of weeks, but the pain and weakness in the body are getting to be intolerable. The pains are affecting my ability to work."

For High Cholesterol "I'm 32. I've had high cholesterol for over 10 years. Besides being barely overweight (like ten lbs), I'm in good health. I promised my dad I'd stick it out for two months, hoping the side effects would go away, but they got worse. It started with knee, shoulder, and elbow pain. I like to sew. I could no longer use scissors from pain in my hand and the heavy scissors. I couldn't open jelly jars without feeling pain in my hands for two days straight. It finally ramped up to not being able to move my thumb and first two fingers on each hand. My 92-year-old grandma moves her hands better than me. Doc took me off and moved me to a fibrate. If I can't handle that, I might be having a heart attack at 50. I won't take this med again."

For Atherosclerosis "Rosuvastatin has a lot of side effects that are serious. Doctors will have to balance ordering this medication based upon what the sales reps tell them and what the studies show as to the effects on their patients. It may be a tough decision. Rosuvastatin worked well for some, but it has significant side effects that appear to be dangerous, could cause accidents while driving with blurred vision. Patients, if they are having indigestion or angina, it is concerning. Hearing too many side effects here and a lot of money for a not-so-safe drug? Maybe any money is too much money for a not-so-safe drug? Rosuvastatin side effects are difficulty in moving, leg pain, indigestion (heartburn) mimicking angina, blurred vision (also while driving on the highway!), pounding heartbeat, fast heartbeat, trouble breathing, joint pain."

For High Cholesterol "I'm a 54-year-old male ex-professional powerlifter and started taking it without any problems. Then, maybe 4 months later, leg pain that I couldn't explain along with very sore joints to the point of having x-rays and ultrasounds on my legs. I've already had both knees reconstructed and hip replacements, so I put it down to just getting old and my days of heavy lifting, but this pain was way stronger than ever before. So here I am today, googled this statin. I'm on 5 mg and found what could be the answer. Not only legs but elbows and very itchy at times. Also, not myself, unwell and feeling very tired, like I could just fall asleep. Then on the other hand, I'm not sleeping well and my mood is up and down. It's the legs that concern me, terrible pain."

For Hypertriglyceridemia "A cardiologist put me on 40 mg. LSS. I have something called inflammatory ankylosing spondylitis. Where the tendons meet the bone becomes inflamed. After being on this drug (needlessly, I must say), I was almost crippled! The tendons in my back and my legs were so painful. My muscles were strong as I walk for exercise, but it became so painful I had trouble walking. Forget about getting out of a chair or the car. If I knelt down on the floor, it was so painful I couldn’t get up without help. I was miserable! I stopped taking the drug, and within about 7-10 days later I started feeling better. All statins are on my do not take list. P.S. Hubby had the same problem-different health problems but same results. He went back to 10 mg and his symptoms improved."

For High Cholesterol "I was prescribed 5 mg of Crestor 18 months ago for high cholesterol. My story is much like everyone else’s on this site. I was 68 years old when I started this medication, in good health, active, exercising regularly, and at a normal body weight. Gradually, I began noticing back pain, hip, and leg pain. At first, I thought it was just due to the aging process, but the pain continually increased, where I could hardly stand up from a sitting position. I was laying on a heating pad each night to try to soothe the discomfort. It was hard to lay in one position very long. I went to an orthopedist, thinking my hips must be severely arthritic. I was eating Motrin like candy. He said my hips were fine. Each time I went walking 2 miles, the pain increased, so I stopped exercising. My neck became stiff, and the range of motion turning my head was impaired. It was hard to drive looking behind me. I was having frequent dizziness. I stopped the Crestor, 7 days later, I was better."

For High Cholesterol "I have been taking Rosuvastatin for two years. It has lowered my cholesterol effectively. I have to urinate 3 to 5 times per night and 5 times per day. My knees are becoming progressively stiff and weaker. It has become very slow and difficult to stand. I walk slowly due to the pain in my knees. Passing motorists have stopped and offered me a ride because of my shuffling gait. I will keep taking it since I want to keep on living after two heart attacks. There is no choice, slog ahead and suck up the pain."
