Rosuvastatin for High Cholesterol "After being on Crestor, it initially brought down my levels significantly within a month. However, after 3 months, I began to feel somewhat depressed, have joint aches, feel unmotivated, experience fatigue, and overall muscle weakness. Grabbing a case of water at the market was beginning to make me feel like an old lady. I stopped taking the medication and within a week I started to feel better. I could tell that my overall health was compromised. I would not take this again."

Rosuvastatin for High Cholesterol "Had high cholesterol started on Crestor. Since then, my life has been a nightmare. Leg cramps, joint pain, swelling, memory loss, extreme fatigue, and now they have diagnosed me with an unknown issue. All since Crestor. I am stopping... never been sick a day in my life... these medications will make us sicker."

Rosuvastatin for High Cholesterol "Been on Crestor for about a year. Cholesterol about 260 and I’m 55 years old, but all my life I’ve been fit and lean, and my cholesterol has always been around 220 since I’m 18 years old! My good cholesterol (HDL) is on the high side, but of course, the bad one (LDL) seems to be creeping up! My issue is my elbows started hurting with pain pricks and sharp knife-like pain, so I went to the doctor. She told me to stop taking the medicine for a couple of weeks to see if the pain would go away. The pain didn’t go away, so I went back on it, only 5mg. I’m feeling fatigued, muscles seem to feel weak, and I’m not sure if it’s from the medicine or just my age. I also gained a little bit of weight. If anyone has any comments, please let me know. Thank you! Also, my triglycerides used to be very low, and since taking this medicine, they went up at least by 50."

Rosuvastatin for High Cholesterol "I’ve been taking generic Crestor for about a year. It’s the first time I’ve lasted that long on any statin. I have familial high cholesterol. In the last couple of weeks, I’ve started having extreme fatigue, dizziness, and depression/confused brain. Don’t really know how to describe it. I’m due for blood tests this week, but don’t know if I can take even one more dose. Will call the doctor tomorrow and see if I can come then for blood tests. I take 5mg every other day."

For High Cholesterol "I started this medicine six months ago at a dose of 5 mg a day. I started having several side effects, including low energy, fatigue, muscle and joint pain, stomach pain, and insomnia. I talked to my doctor, and he reduced the dose to 5 mg every other day. Then I noticed losing weight and hair shedding, I'm unsure if it's related to this medication. Does anyone else experience weight loss and hair shedding? Thank you."

For High Cholesterol "I’ve been taking 20 mg rosuvastatin for high cholesterol. It's been high (250) since I was 20 years old, and I’m 60 now. But my good to bad ratio of HDL and LDL was always good, so my cardiologist said I didn’t need it. Now the ratio of good to bad is off, and my triglycerides are elevated. So I started rosuvastatin 8 months ago. It worked on my cholesterol, but I have felt like death warmed over for months now. Constant fatigue, napping every day, brain fog, etc. I realized all this started about the same time as I started this medicine. I’m going to go off it for a few weeks, and I bet my chronic fatigue will disappear."

For High Cholesterol "Started taking Crestor (rosuvastatin) 5 mg per day about a year and a half ago. All I can say is I feel horrible now. I’m starting to get calf muscle cramps, fatigue, and a kind of dizziness (unsteady while walking). This has been going on for about two months. I’m going to stop taking this drug, I just can’t handle it anymore. Not for me! No benefits as far as quality of life, even if it lowers cholesterol. Learning now, as we age, cholesterol goes up, which is not necessarily a bad thing as long as you have low triglycerides and your HDL is good and within normal range. Going back to my doctor."

Rosuvastatin for High Cholesterol "CNP switched me from 10 mg Zetia to 40 mg Crestor. It did bring my cholesterol numbers in a good range, but I had serious side effects. Mainly higher glucose, foamy urine (protein and blood in urinalysis), muscle and joint pain, fatigue. I was told to stop taking it to see if things got better. After 1 week off this drug, my urine looks normal again. I'm hoping the rest of these side effects will disappear soon! Not going back on Crestor, I will work on diet and exercise for healthy cholesterol levels."

Rosuvastatin for Hyperlipoproteinemia "I have been on Crestor on and off for a couple of months. I was put on 10 mg per day, but the side effects were horrendous: severe muscle and joint pain, fatigue, and general misery. Dosage was reduced to 10 mg twice a week and still have pain, but not as severe. It has reduced cholesterol from 9.4 to 5.8, but haven't had it checked again since the reduction. The cardiologist said it will probably have gone up a bit, and if able to tolerate a higher dose, to try."

For High Cholesterol "I'm 59, female. Dr. put me on 10 mg of Rosuvastatin. He said it may cause muscle aches. Took it the first night. Next morning, my feet and back of calves hurt. I decided to take the next dose in the morning (had to skip a day to do that). Day 2. Went shopping (I love to shop). I could hardly stand in the store. I had pain from the bottom of my feet up to the back of my knees. It was horrible. Stopped at the pharmacy. The pharmacist said it may cause fatigue and muscle aches. I was in so much pain, just trying to shop! I felt like I needed a cane. I finally went home in agony. Several hours later, my left arm, right shoulder, and right side of my neck joined in the pain party. I was almost in tears. Keep in mind, I have a high pain tolerance. I had my gallbladder out and never took a Tylenol. I looked at that tiny pill and wondered how it could cause so much widespread pain. I never took another pill. My Dr. said to stop, and we will reevaluate in 6 months. I'm a nurse as well. Never again."

For Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease "My doctor prescribed rosuvastatin, which I took for a year and a half. As a result, I suffered from low energy, memory loss, stiffness, and worst of all, severe muscle pain in both shoulders. I could not raise my arms without intense pain. The pain would flare up at night. I did not have a full night's sleep for 6 months. Pain medication did not work. It has been 1 year since I've stopped taking the statin medication. Most of the pain is gone, and my energy is back. It was a long, painful year that I will not repeat. I quit taking statins and quit seeing the doctor that prescribed them."

For High Cholesterol "Took 10 mg, 20 mg, now 40 mg Crestor from age 38 to now 52. Had good cholesterol reading till the last 6 months when had to change to generic. My LDL and total cholesterol have gone up 100 points. My MD questioned if I was even taking it. Whole scheme of statins is questionable. I am having unbearable muscle pains. Feels bruised, tight, and sore. I need to be checked for fibromyalgia. I am fatigued with no energy. Waiting a few more months before going back to check my readings to determine for sure the generic is not working."

For High Cholesterol "I was on this medication off and on for a year. I finally took myself off due to horrible side effects. My Dr. told me I had no choice but to go back on it, so I took her advice and restarted the med. It lasted for TWO DAYS before I realized why I went off of it the 1st time. The muscle aches/pain and fatigue were HORRIBLE. My quality of life took a nosedive in only 48 hrs. I have come to realize that doctors aren't always right, and most are there to push legal poison (medication) without looking at healthy alternatives. I have adopted a new way of eating (Mediterranean diet) and started to exercise more often. I also do intermittent fasting for 16-20 hrs. My numbers aren't great, but they're a lot better than they used to be, plus I have quality of life. I'm going to find a new Dr. and continue to educate myself on healthy alternatives to some medications. I realize some are absolutely necessary, but I will say... be proactive with YOUR life and do your research."

For High Cholesterol "I started this medication while recovering from COVID. What followed was six weeks of misery and a trip to the ER, which I attributed to a COVID-related setback. Things weren't improving, so in desperation I stopped taking rosuvastatin and felt normal within two days. So I am horrified, to say the least. My symptoms were increased fatigue, stomachache, awake every night from 2 am for at least 3 to 4 hours, loss of appetite, anxiety, trouble thinking, breathing problems, heart palpitations, chest tightness and burning, unsteady, and hopelessness."

For High Cholesterol "My lab work is now flagged because LDL and total cholesterol are below normal. Took Crestor 5 mg daily for 3 months. I always ate a healthy diet with 25 mg to 30 mg of fiber (from food) daily. Excessive fatigue. Had to hire a cleaning crew to do my house. 2 naps per day. Unable to exercise. I have felt “unwell” the last few months, assorted muscle pain and abdominal pain."
