Roflumilast for COPD "I've been on Daliresp for five days. Sick to my tummy and diarrhea is really bad. Tremors and headache. But going to give it a month or two and see if side effects go away. I take Imodium for poops and a nausea pill. It helps."

Roflumilast for COPD "I started Daliresp 6 weeks ago when I had my first bronchitis inflammation. Still have the wheezing but am breathing better, using the nebulizer less often, still on 5 mg prednisone. Bowel issues are my main concern, chug Pepto Bismol to no avail and did vomit once. This drug is supposed to reduce bronchial flare-ups, so I'll stick with it. Do not wish to stay in the hospital again."

Roflumilast for COPD "I started taking Daliresp in July 2016. I have to quit taking it. I’ve lost 30 lbs. in 1 1/2 years. Also, I haven’t noticed any change in my breathing. Daliresp just didn’t work for me. Now that I quit taking it, my appetite is back and I’m sleeping better. I wish I had quit it sooner."

Roflumilast for COPD "I have been using Daliresp for 1 week now. It appears to have improved my breathing, but I have several of the side effects. Now I'm having problems with diarrhea, anxiety, and trouble sleeping. I've got a call into my doctor now to see if the side effects will go away. If they don't, I'll have to go back to Advair."

Roflumilast for COPD, Maintenance "Started taking Daliresp 3 months ago. Noticed improvement in breathing in 1st week. Then started having nausea and loss of appetite. I also started having other reactions, insomnia, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, bad thoughts about death. Over the last 2 months, it's gotten worse. I didn't know it could be the Daliresp. This morning I woke up at 1 am, couldn't go back to sleep because of thoughts of dying. It's 2 pm, I'm still awake (I can't sleep during the day). Got so bad I went to the ER today. The doctor told me to stop the Daliresp. OK! I never had mental health issues before. I don't have any clue how long it will take to recover from the mental health issues I'm having."

For COPD "I started taking roflumilast in August of 2022 after experiencing several severe bouts of exacerbations and bronchitis, one of which required hospitalization. I also use Flovent and albuterol inhalers occasionally, as well as Anoro on a daily basis. I have been using roflumilast for almost a year. I am in my early seventies, retired from being a steelworker, and am a smoker. Pros: roflumilast has practically eliminated my constant bronchitis and reduced the frequency of catching colds and the flu. I have been able to return to nearly normal activities. Cons: I experienced loose bowel movements for the first month, but they eventually subsided. I also lost around twenty pounds. Roflumilast affects my muscle aches, pains, and strength. I sometimes experience occasional severe muscle spasms and cramping. Additionally, I have occasional sleep problems and insomnia, as well as a loss of appetite. There is also some mild depression, which may be related to both age and the medication. These side effects come and go, with good and bad days that can sometimes last for a week. Roflumilast is expensive without insurance. Despite these side effects, the benefits of roflumilast outweigh them. However, there are days when I feel like discontinuing its use. I hope this information helps you make a decision."

Roflumilast for COPD, Maintenance "Same as previous comment. Made me sick to my stomach, serious diarrhea. Only took for 4 days and felt terrible, like I had the flu. It did help the breathing, but not enough to put up with the side effects."

Roflumilast for COPD, Maintenance "Love what this does to improve my breathing, but the diarrhea just won't go away, and that is the worst side effect for me. I tried taking it in the morning and got headaches and felt nauseous, as well as having the diarrhea, so I took it at night, but the diarrhea has persisted. If I can't take something to counter this side effect, I will stop taking it, as I can't go anywhere with the diarrhea."

Roflumilast for COPD "I've been on Daliresp for 2 weeks now. I've had back-to-back flare-ups for the last year. The last one put me in bed for 16 days. My pulmonologist retired and I went to a new pulmonologist for the first time. He described Daliresp as a miracle drug for COPD. He started me on it. I've seen improvement in 14 days. The only side effect I've had is nausea and a slight headache in the morning. I started taking it at bedtime and the nausea stopped. A couple of Tylenol stops the headache in the morning. I can already see improvement in my breathing. God sent me a miracle! I really thought during this last flare-up I was going to die. I could stand to lose some weight. I am 30 lbs overweight starting out, so I don't foresee being a problem. I go to 500 mg after the first 30 days. I am thrilled about Daliresp."

Roflumilast for COPD "Been on Daliresp 500 mcg for about a week. I have to agree with the majority of reviews - this med will give you stomach pain, but if it keeps me from having an exacerbation of COPD, I'll continue it! For stomach pain, I tried soda crackers and ginger ale, but the only thing that helped is 'Gin Gins,' which are a ginger 'candy' that is great for stomach pain/upset."

Roflumilast for COPD "Reading reviews of people starting with 500 mg and getting really sick should talk to their doctor. Mine started me with half the dose of 250 mg for a week, then up to 250 mg for 3 weeks before I went to the 500 mg maintenance dose. Just a few side effects like diarrhea that really isn’t that bad. Just an idea."

Roflumilast for COPD, Maintenance "I just started taking Daliresp again 10-23-16. The only problem that I have is I can't sleep. I can't go to sleep or stay asleep. And when I do go to sleep, it's only for a few hours. Then I am awake again. I take it before and stop taking it because I could sleep. I really don't know at this time if it works or not. Haven't been on it long enough to know. That's one of the side effects. So what can you do to stay asleep?"

Roflumilast for COPD, Maintenance "I have COPD with mild bronchitis. I got the flu pretty bad this past flu season with lots of congestion and wheezing. Once the flu was gone, my doctor suggested Daliresp 500 mcg to prevent future flare-ups. That was on a Monday, 5 days ago. I took my 1st dose on Monday night. Tuesday morning, I woke up feeling very tired. I took the 2nd dose Tuesday night. Woke up Wednesday feeling worse... a flu-ish feeling with exhaustion, body aches, and diarrhea. For some reason, I gave it another chance Wednesday night, and when I woke up Thursday morning, forget it. I was so sick -- almost felt like I was poisoned. Could barely get up. No strength, no appetite, body aches, lightheaded. So I did not take it Thursday night. It is now Friday night (48 hours since my last dose), and I still feel very sick. I read that it can take around 4 days for Daliresp to leave your body. I'm hoping for a quick recovery. Needless to say, Daliresp is not for me."

For COPD "Roflumilast had completely turned my life around. From being on oxygen therapy and having frequent exacerbations, my breathing has improved so much that I no longer need oxygen or inhalers and haven't had to take steroids or antibiotics for over a year now. I feel sorry for anyone that experiences side effects that makes them stop taking it. In my opinion, it is a lifesaver, and the quality of my life has improved greatly, luckily with no side effects. Everything is good. If you can, persevere with it. The side effects will lessen as your body adapts."

For COPD "When I first started using roflumilast, I suffered from brain fog, anxiety, nausea, and a rise in heart rate. I wasn't having a problem with breathing, but I did have frequent flare-ups. I took 250 mg for 8 days, was told by my doctor to stop it, but continued to day 13. I had no flare-ups, but the side effects finally beat me down, so I stopped. However, I started again 4 days later, but the side effects came even harder, though I had no flare-ups. It's great in controlling flare-ups, but the side effects just get to be nagging."

Roflumilast for COPD, Maintenance "It hasn't helped my severe COPD and acute exacerbations. My doctor gave me samples to try, but so far, nothing. I will continue to take until all is gone, then I have to call the doctor about the results. I have extreme sweating and was sick to my stomach the first week, but now it's just every so often."

For COPD "Daliresp has been a game changer for me. My COPD symptoms have been substantially reduced as I became quite winded after a short walk of 100-125 feet. Now, after about four months on this medicine, my shortness of breath has been reduced and is sometimes non-existent. During the four months, I had to deal with severe bouts of insomnia. This was solved by taking 1/2 pill per day. I notice no difference in symptoms between one or 1/2 pill."

Roflumilast for COPD, Maintenance "Use Daliresp and have no difference in breathing. I do have side effects of insomnia, severe stomach pain, and having bowel movements every time I go to the bathroom, whether that's what I went in there for or not. Been on it a couple of weeks and took my last dose this morning. It's bad."

Roflumilast for COPD "I've been on Daliresp 500 mcg for 3 days. My breathing was clear and good until I took my first dose of this medication. My breathing went plum out and had to put oxygen on. Inhalers and nebulizer treatments weren't helping. Ended up in the ER. The ER doctor ran lots of tests because of my COPD, and he told me to stop the Daliresp. I was having an allergic reaction to it and to see my lung doctor ASAP."

For COPD "The first couple of weeks, I had no problem, but it’s made my chronic insomnia worse to wear. I’m typing this at 1:06 AM, and I can’t sleep before that. I was sleeping 3 to 4 hours before taking this medication. I was sleeping through the night, so it’s affecting me, so my doctor’s taking me off of it, 'cause I cannot sleep, but it does work on the lungs."

For COPD "I started roflumilast a month ago, and for the first few days, I was thrilled at how much better my breathing was (I have COPD). I was started on half a tablet daily, to increase after a week to taking 1/2 a tablet twice a day to minimize the side effects I had read about. I’ve lost 6 kg in a month and have frequent mild headaches. I have been a bit breathless the last few weeks, but possibly because my usual inhalers were not prescribed. I suspect this drug works better for patients with severe COPD rather than mild COPD. I hope with my inhalers being re-prescribed, I will be able to rate this drug as a 10."

For COPD, Maintenance "I've been on this med for six weeks, 250 mg for 30 days, increased to 500 mg. I've had no positive effect on my breathing. In fact, it seems worse. Trouble sleeping only the first couple of days. Nausea when taken in the AM so switched to PM. I also use Breztri inhaler and take Montelukast. Nothing has gotten me off oxygen 24/7 since being hospitalized with pneumonia in January (5 months ago). I'm wondering if this is as good as it gets."
