Ranexa (ranolazine) for Angina "Have been taking this drug for over five years. Had a great drug plan so the $50.00 for a 90 day supply didn't bother me even though I never thought that the drug did anything. Have had two heart bypass surgeries and four stents placed in my coronary arteries in the past 20 years. Cardiologist prescribed this drug cause he ran out of options for my angina. Like I said, never did anything. Recently I lost my good drug plan and now my new Part 'D' prescription drug plan has me paying $225.00 per month for this drug........ridiculous. The manufacturer offers discounts on line which is just another 'rip'. Their own product literature says that 'we don't really understand how it works'.....well guess what; it doesn't. This drug is a scam"

Ranexa (ranolazine) for Angina "Comment to the one that is taking simvastatin with the Ranexa, I read earlier that was one of the medicines that was not to be taken with Ranexa or at least some people need to reduce the simvasatin dose. My dad takes the med for his angina and I was just looking at side effects. His could be from Ranexa but not sure."

For Angina "In July, 2017, I had a heart attack. I underwent a heart cath and stents places. I was out on Ranexa for angina. A few days after beginning the Ranexa I noted I was not having any pain from my fibromyalgia. I have had fibromyalgia for more than 20years. I discussed this with my cardiologist. He related he shared the information with the drug rep. I continue the Ranexa for angina and am loving no longer experiencing daily pain from fibromyalgia."

For Angina "I'm 60 years old with angina symptoms; however, I have had a cath angiogram and cardiac MRI, which diagnosed me with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM). Previously, I was taking bisoprolol 2.5. Even after my tests, I continued to struggle with shortness of breath, dizziness, chest pain, fatigue, and weight gain. Bisoprolol only masked my symptoms, as I still experienced continuous days of struggling. The doctor at the hospital said it was impossible for me to have angina and that my symptoms were due to HCM. I explained to my cardiologist that bisoprolol was only providing slight relief. As a result, he prescribed ranolazine 500. What a game changer it has been! Now I can walk inclines and longer distances without difficulty. I'm no longer constantly hungry and am losing weight. My energy levels have been restored, and I finally feel like I'm getting more oxygen. I continue to take bisoprolol 5mg daily in combination with ranolazine. Additionally, my acid reflux has improved, and I haven't experienced any reflux in the past week."

Ranexa (ranolazine) for Angina "Five stents and put on range a almost immediately. Very good but I still had angina. Last summer, my cardio put me on Norvasc. Absolutely terrific drug for angina. Angina pretty much disappeared. When I ran out last month, for five days, I started having attacks again. Do inquire about it. I am going to talk to her about getting off Ranexa. Super expensive, too, for a retiree, or actually anyone! $1200 a year. I am also going to call the company regarding financial help. Sometimes, they provide it. Only attacks I now have are when I walk in the cold. But spring is coming."

For Angina "I'm a 62 yr old male. I had a heart attack 11 yrs ago and since then 3 more angiograms totalling 6 stents. I recently had another angiogram after months of chest pain which also radiated to my left arm. It showed my arteries were good but further tests revealed microvascular disease. I started on Ranolazine about 3 weeks ago. After about 4 days the chest/arm pain was gone. The side effects have been constipation and fatigue . I take 1000mg twice a day."

For Angina "Before Ranolazine I was constantly out of breath and had intermittent chest pain all day. Doing the dishes caused a marked increase in the angina pain. Nitro was needed at least 4 - 5x daily. I've not taken any since I started Ranolazine. There was some brief blurred vision that rapidly resolved by itself. I have more energy to do things during the day and feel like I've gotten my life mostly back."

Ranexa (ranolazine) "Have had Afib since May 2016. Been on Multaq and Metopralol for all that time. Have been cardioverted 11 times. In May 2019 saw a general Cardiologist and added 1000 mg 2 x a day of Ranexa (now Ranolazine) in addition to the 400mg of Multaq 2x a day. Doc told me if I go into fib take an extra Ranolazine (mid regular doses) for up to 2 days and if I do not self convert call his office. I call Ranolazine my miracle drug. One extra dose has converted me every time between 3 hours and 40 hours after taking. The Ranolazine has made my PACs which I had most of the time to be now nonexistent which was an added benefit. There are articles on the internet about the use of Ranexa to treat Afib. It is mainly used for angina. Doc told me that people who had angina and Afib were found to have fewer Afib bouts after starting Ranexa. I know a patient of the Doc who uses Renexa as pill in the pocket for her Afib and it works great for her too."

For Angina "I was put on Ranolazine generic of Renaxa for Mycardial Bridging in my heart. Large Blood vessels are suppose to lay on top of the heart, mine goes through a layer of my heart. It is believed when you exert yourself, it presses on the large blood vessels diminishing blood flow. I now am getting angina. I take 500 mg. Twice daily. No constipation, coffee does the trick. I also am getting ringing in my ears from this medication. I also take baby aspirin, Metoprolol 25 mg. twice daily, Plavix 75 mg. for a stent in my left coronary artery, that is 90% blocked. My RCA is 50% blocked. They put me on Rosuvalstain a statin, but terrible leg pain, same as with Lipitor. Right now I am taking Red Yeast Rice, which acts like a statin but is not a chemical. Hoping this works. No more statins for me."

For Angina "This drug vastly increased my quality of life by eliminating the shortness of breath I suffered even though the major cardiac vessels were functioning well. The cardiopulmonary exercise testing showed that the small vessels were not fully functional. In less than a month of ranolazine therapy this issue was resolved with no side effects."

For Angina "This helped with breathing and pain from angina but the side effects to the digestive system greatly out wayed this. I experienced severe constipation, bloating and acid reflux when taking the 350 dose. This became so severe over a 2 week period that I had to stop taking the medication."

For Angina "Some months ago I developed chest pain with shortness of breath, it happened mostly on mild exertion and lasted up to half an hour. It was debilitating. After extensive investigation as an inpatient (including angiogram) I was diagnosed with Microvascular Angina. I remember exactly when I started taking Ranolazine, the day afterwards was quite remarkable. Chest pain was reduced and the following day it was reduced further. It was unbelievable, I was so relieved. I've been on this medication for a couple of months now with no side effects to date. I've had to have a period of reducing it to see how that effects me, I got increased chest pain and shortness of breath when reduced. Once back up to full dose the chest pain is controlled."

For Angina "For almost four years, I suffered with shortness of breath without chest pain, usually on exertion, and no cause was ever found. A recent heart cath and three stents later, I still have SOB, so my cardiologist thought it was angina and prescribed Ranexa. I took it for only three days and my SOB without exertion was terrible. So I stopped it right away. It took almost three weeks for the SOB to be tolerable again. I didn't experience any other side effects, but Ranexa failed at what it was supposed to do for me."

For Angina "My experience with Ranolazine was great. Within 3 days, it was like I never had angina. Heart attack in 1989, quadruple bypass, and aortic valve replacement in 2005, now a total of 6 stents, pacemaker, and 3rd aortic valve last year (TAVR). Tried this medication for 30 days, then switched to another pharmacy due to cost. Angina was back in a couple of days. Got a new script from the original pharmacy, and now it's working again. Thought all generics were made to specs, but I guess not. The one that works for me is by Ajanta."

Ranexa (ranolazine) for Angina "I am in moderate systolic heart failure and I started having angina this year. Since starting on Ranexa, I am experiencing less pressure/angina. I haven't noticed any significant side effects on my dosage of 500 twice a day. My cardio wants to increase it so I can be more active and avoid any discomfort at all, like slight pressure when walking faster or bending over/lifting. I am not sure and waiting to decide if I should double it to 1000 twice a day. I am turning 73 but was fairly active even with chronic pain. Tricky time of life. But I still have things to do!"
