For Bipolar Disorder "I was prescribed this for sleep, and my doctor told me it has multiple uses and can be used for bipolar as well. Unfortunately, this medication causes auditory hallucinations. I am a 24-year-old male, and I will have to have a talk with my doctor about this."

For Depression "I have been taking 150 mg x 2 along with 10 mg of Lexapro to help with chronic depression. Due to divorce this summer, I told my doctor I was feeling more depressed, and he raised my dose of Seroquel to 200 x 2 at bedtime. I am a teacher, and the last 2 days I have not been able to get up. I start to get dressed and wake up hours later standing at the mirror with a toothbrush in my hand. Lucky for me, we don't have students yet, but I am terrified I will continue oversleeping and miss my classes. Also, I am having muscle spasms in my right hand, dropping things I am holding, throwing eggs across the room. The only change in my routine is the bump up in dose, so the problem has got to be that."

For Insomnia "I was hospitalized and couldn't sleep due to intense anxiety in the hospital. I was given 50 mg Seroquel. I felt the effects within 20 minutes, but then they kept getting stronger for well over an hour until my perceptions of time and space were very distorted. I couldn't even sit in a chair without feeling I was going to fall out of it. Next, I started getting paranoid until 16 hours later I took Klonopin, and everything went back to normal. If I was at home or work and took Seroquel for the first time, it would have been a disaster. I did sleep for a few hours while I was on it, though."

For Bipolar Disorder "I've had bad reactions to every mood stabilizer I've tried, but this was truly the scariest. I had to withdraw from college because I was sleeping constantly, crying for 8 hours at a time, and hallucinating. I eventually became suicidal and landed myself in the hospital for 2 weeks. I know that everyone reacts differently, and finding the bipolar cocktail is a painful trial-and-error process, but if you have this experience, I wanted you to know you are not alone."

For Generalized Anxiety Disorder "My personal reaction to Seroquel was essentially, 'The lights are on, but no one is home.' I was so despondent I could handle no more than two weeks of the medication."

For Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "This drug did not work for me. The sedating effects were almost more than I could handle, and I constantly had the feeling of being 'underwater' as I tried to talk and communicate with those around me. It worked on my symptoms a little bit, but not enough to make up for the weirdness I felt from the side effects. I was on a dose of 300 mg 4x a day, so I don't know if that would produce worse side effects or not."

For Bipolar Disorder "This medication almost killed me. Developed a prolonged QT interval and almost went into cardiac arrest and feel lucky to be alive. I had been on the medication for 3 months before this happened. As far as psychiatric benefits go, it was extremely helpful, but not worth dying. I also gained several pounds while on the medication. There are safer treatments for bipolar, so I will be avoiding it from now on."

For Generalized Anxiety Disorder "I just started taking Seroquel 25 mg for generalized anxiety disorder, OCD, and panic attacks, which have been going on for nearly 25 years, and now I'm 65 years old. On the first night, I broke the tablets up in quarters and took 6.25 mg at about 7 pm, waited 2 hours, and took another 6.25 mg, so this will gradually enter my system because I do not get along with antidepressants at all. If all goes well, then I will bump it up another 12.5 mg the second week. I'm to revisit my nurse practitioner on Mar 20 to give her the lowdown. In the meantime, all I take for anxiety is clonazepam 0.5 mg daily as needed. This will work well with Seroquel because if I start feeling panicky, then I'll take clonazepam to hopefully offset it. I will put up another review in 4 weeks on my progress with this medication."

For Bipolar Disorder "I was prescribed Seroquel for my bipolar. My doctor prescribed me an antidepressant (Mirtazapine) at first because he thought I was simply depressed, but that sent me right into a manic episode. After that, I was prescribed Seroquel. It did end my manic episode, but the side effects were bad. I had really bad and vivid nightmares every night. I struggled with that before, but Seroquel made it so much worse. I used to wake in the middle of the night, scared, and my whole room spinning around me and cold sweat. The worst part is that I felt even more depressed than I did at the beginning. It helped for mania but didn't help at all against my depression. I feel like it made it worse because I was tired 24/7. I wasn't as anxious as I was before, though. I had to get off it because I had to go to the doctor because I literally couldn't pee anymore. That's a not so common side effect of antipsychotics. All in all, it did not work for me personally, but everyone reacts differently to it!"

For Bipolar Disorder "I have been taking Seroquel again for about a month. Last go with this drug was about 1 year prior, so I thought I knew how it affected me. This time was much different. I’m terrified to take it every single night because I think (I know this is irrational) I won’t wake up. I have a “mini” panic attack when I take it, and around the time I’ve talked myself out of that one, I become sleepy… that starts my “real” panic attack, and I feel I need to fight it. I didn't used to dream much, but I have been having vivid BAD dreams; 1/2 the nights. My anxiety and anger are at an all-time high. I used to be a cutter, and now still unable to deal with daily life, it would seem I have converted to biting my forearm. Also, waking up the next day and going to work-people thought I was on drugs because I couldn’t process anything for the first hour, along with weird shaky vision. At first, this drug did wonders for me but has since taken a nasty turn. Risk > benefit ratio for me."

"I'm prescribed Seroquel along with Keppra to help my seizures (been 10 years), and it is awful. I'm always forced to go back to Seroquel every time I get a seizure, and the side effects are terrible. Here is my review: and please read carefully. Disadvantages: 1. Knocks you out within minutes. 2. You wake up feeling like a zombie. Swollen eyes because you will feel tired and unmotivated for the whole entire day. (NEVER TAKE IT IN THE MORNING) 3. Unable to control your mood within the first few weeks of usage (you feel emotionless, unmotivated, no motivation to respond to people or get up from bed). 4. MAJOR WEIGHT GAIN. 10 kg within months. 5. Dependency - can't sleep without Seroquel. And it's so hard to get off it. 6. Weird dreams. Advantages: 1. Helps prevent seizures. 2. Helps sleep. 3. Improves mood over time (after 1-2 months of usage. First few weeks will be hard for you). 4. Controls heart rate. 5. Helps prevent daily anxiety and panic attacks."

For Bipolar Disorder "I have affective bipolar disorder and took Seroquel for 12 years. I started at 100mg, and for the last 8 years, I was on 300mg at night. I had psychotic suicidal depression. Yes, it made me sleep well, except towards the end there were restless legs. However, it never stopped the depressions from recurring, and I couldn't sleep with it during the bouts. A year ago, a psychiatrist abruptly stopped it, either cold turkey or over 5 days. Immediately, I developed tardive dyskinesia (TD), a debilitating progressive neurological condition. It was very uncomfortable, painful, and no, I would not recommend it. I am 63 years old, starting a new life, homebound, super self-conscious of my face, and avoid meeting people."

"On this, I just seemed like I was drunk and was craving to drink (alcohol) and eat (milk and high phosphorus food such as cereal) more. When I started spacing out on the couch, my mother explained to my 13-year-old brother that I was drunk. They prescribed this to me for agitation and insomnia. I decided that my mother was not pleased with Seroquel either."

For Bipolar Disorder "Only reason I gave this medication Seroquel 3 stars is because, if you have trouble sleeping, this pill will knock you out! Other than that, it makes you extremely hungry, causing weight gain, may feel sluggish and irritated in the morning, and also I noticed vivid dreams and sometimes nightmares. Sidenote: I experience post-nasal drip that suddenly got better over time. Seroquel makes my allergies worsen, causing extreme post-nasal drip!"

For Bipolar Disorder "I've been on Seroquel 400 mg for a lot of years. (It was a lot higher dose.) I am bipolar type 2, diagnosed in 2010, and if I take any more, I cannot get good sleep. I am amazed to read the comments/post how people are sleeping so well and are groggy on a 100-200 mg tablet! Wish I could! Lol. I'm on a 400 mg dose, and I can't sleep well at all. Should my dose be increased? Or should another medication be added? I fall asleep, but I'm not sleeping a load of hours, I get like 5-6 hours of sleep no matter what time I take the dose."

For Bipolar Disorder "Diagnosed bipolar II early 2017, age 29. A combination of 100 mgs of lamotrigine + 20 mgs Lexapro worked better to stabilize my moods/reduce my anxiety than anything ever had before, I was happy. Partner and I decided I was in a good place to start planning for a baby, however, my psych warned of the possible risks of conceiving on lamotrigine, so I began a 12 mth period of transitioning to Seroquel, which is considered lower risk during pregnancy than lamotrigine. Transitioning between drugs was going to be destabilizing - I was prepared for that. What I wasn’t prepared for was getting to a point where I should have “stabilized” on my 200 mgs of Seroquel, and to be more depressed, more tired, more overweight, less motivated, more aggressive/irritable than I had been in a very long time. I gained 10 kgs in a year, my appetite was HUGE, and I could barely function due to heavy sedation. Back on lamotrigine now and feeling much more like my happy self again."

For Schizoaffective Disorder "All began well, and I was on a small dose for a while. Then I had a relapse, and we upped the dosage. Then I started awful side effects every night after taking it! Then my mum came to stay and said, 'It's the medication.' So I called my shrink and asked to go off it, and he said, 'OK - no more side effects!'"

For Bipolar Disorder "It does help with sleeping, and my brain was so calm, but I was only on 25 mg, and I gained 15 pounds in 3 months. I was constantly hungry, but even if I only ate salad, it would just keep me at the same weight. It was the gross, cellulite, chunky fat! My metabolism and thyroid were changed. I went off Seroquel to stop my body from changing so much."

For Bipolar Disorder "A word of caution. I've noticed how positive these reviews tend to be. You should look up the withdrawal effects when coming off this drug. I've been on and off medication for the last 20 years. When I came off Effexor 15 years ago, I couldn't walk for three days. But that was nothing compared to Seroquel. And it takes 90 days for the withdrawal effects to begin to wear off. Seriously, before taking this drug, you need to do some research. I would strongly advise you to find another drug."

For Bipolar Disorder "I have started to take 200 mg in July 2015. I have gained too much weight, nearly 20 kg. I have taken 100 mg in December 2015, and now I have been taking 50 mg. I want to quit Seroquel because I feel like a zombie. I sleep very well, but I can't get up early, and I often go to work too late. During the day, I feel tired and sleepy. For my mind and brain, it is good, but the damage of Seroquel is more than the benefits, I think. It does cause addiction. I want to quit it, or I want to take 25 mg anymore."

For Bipolar Disorder "Weight gain, lethargic 300 dosage at bedtime, any more you'll have heads turning in public. Reclusion is a major problem due to zombie effects, messed up part is my roommates had to tell me because I didn't even notice. I have not been able to get a job. I tried college, and it didn't work. My short-term memory is short, can't even remember what I ate for dinner three days ago. I do sleep, though. All you can do is push on and forget."

For Bipolar Disorder "I was on Seroquel for a year. I was fat, no energy, restless leg syndrome, and elevated glucose. Seroquel has too many serious side effects."
