"This medication was absolutely awful. They weaned me off of Risperdal and put me on this medicine, and it made my symptoms worse. Overall, I had very bad anger and temper issues. I had trouble eating food because I always felt nauseous, and the food I used to love now tasted nasty to me. They were treating the WRONG thing, thought to have bipolar, but I was misdiagnosed. So overall, my experience with this medication was terrible. 0/0 do not recommend for autistic individuals."

For Bipolar Disorder "Warning: may trigger suicidal thoughts. History: I was prescribed Seroquel after multiple medications weren’t helping to improve my depression. Quickly, my depression got markedly worse to the point of me not being able to get out of bed and not bathing because it felt too exhausting. I also had my suicidal ideation and thoughts get overwhelmingly worse. My psychiatrist increased my dosage and it just got worse. I had to change psychiatrists (unrelated to this), and my new psychiatrist immediately had me taper down my dosage with the goal of getting off the Seroquel completely. Once I got off of it completely, I felt like a new person - no depression or suicidal thoughts since. I know this medication has helped a lot of people, and I am so happy it has. I don’t think many other people have had this experience, but I wanted to put it out there that it wasn’t good for me, and if anyone is having similar experiences, please speak with the person who prescribed it and know that it can get better."

"I have been on Seroquel for 3 months, started out on 150 mg for anxiety and panic attacks, which it isn't listed for. Within that 3 months, my cholesterol, which is already high, raised over 24 more points. I gained 20 pounds within the 2 months. My arthritis, which is already bad, has gotten even worse. Most of the weight gain was water retention and bloating. It has not helped with my anxiety at all. It does help me sleep for a few hours, but not the whole night. I reduced the dosage to 50 mg myself because of the side effects and have since lost some of the weight. I am sleeping better. Maybe I was on too high of a dose. But all of the side effects that I have are side effects that this drug causes. It may work for some people, but not for me. And for me, the side effects are just too much. I don't think that this medication should be prescribed to people who have certain conditions. As soon as I can get my PCP to prescribe something that will help me sleep better, I'm done with this poison."

"Let me just say, I hate Seroquel! I was prescribed it for sleep 8 years ago. For the first couple of years, I was on about 300-400 mg a day, and I would feel like I was literally dying when it kicked in. My heart would race, I felt like I couldn’t breathe, and then I’d just black out. It made me feel so sluggish the next day. Also, I gained so much weight on this! It makes you have an insatiable hunger, and it’s terrible. I would walk down the halls and knock into them like I was drunk, my vision was so blurry, and I couldn’t think. It was the worst sensation ever! I’m now down to 50 mg of the XR and trying to wean off, but I’m scared. Last time the doctor tried, I blacked out and my blood pressure dropped, and the hospital said I couldn’t wean off it. Now, a year later, I’m trying again, and it’s terrible. I can’t sleep, restless legs, can’t get comfortable, and feel tired all day. I don't recommend this to anybody!!!"

For Bipolar Disorder "Literally garbage. Did not help moods. Slept 12 hours at night and still needed 2-6+ hours of naps in the day. No control over when to sleep. Lots of weight gain."

For Schizophrenia "I took one pill, 50 mg. I was in such a deep sleep my children could not wake me up. Even the next morning, I felt like I was drugged. I slept the entire day away. You can forget about driving on this stuff. Two days later, I still felt the effects of the drug."

For Bipolar Disorder "Seroquel is total hell. It gives you the impression that your brain is burnt by it in a very conscious way. All your person seems possessed by it... It's like a chemical weapon... It's such an unpleasant sensation that I now react so badly when a professional is talking to me about it. I've suffered so much because of this. How can such a small pill do so much harm? The sensation can't even be described. It literally just erased my mind when I take it at times. Don't try this!"

For Bipolar Disorder "I was put on this med years ago and taken off. I asked him why I stopped taking it because of weight gain, I don't feel that was the only reason. I have had problems with anxiety and depression for a long time, but it got extremely worse. The anxiety was so bad that I couldn't eat, gave me worse flashbacks from my PTSD, which was caused by trauma throughout my life (domestic abuse and rape). I got headaches, eye pain, palpitations, my hypothyroidism was all off, stomach pain, worse depression to the point I lost weight, which I am already thin. I could go on, but the Dr didn't take into consideration that I suffer from epilepsy, got vertigo, seizures increased. I ended up yesterday in a crisis center because I couldn't stop crying and had racing thoughts, which I forgot to mention. And the flashbacks of my life were one after another. Just was not a good choice of medication for me, especially with physical issues."

For Schizophrenia "I've been taking Seroquel for a long time. It destroyed my life. It's addictive because when you stop taking it, you'll never be able to sleep again. There's no getting off of it. I sleep in till 2 to 5 pm every day. I'm sluggish all day. It never helped with any of my symptoms of schizophrenia. It makes me crave sugar immensely. This drug is very dangerous. You have to be very careful when taking it. Don't drive or be around people you don't know or trust. Let's just say I could sleep through anything. This drug should be illegal even if it does help some people with their mental illness. There are other things people can take. Risperdal, for example, does wonders for me. I'm working with my doctor on getting off of Seroquel. I didn't do it sooner because I'm so sick I can barely accomplish anything really. I just want to say to all schizophrenics I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry that NOBODY has any idea of what's happening to you."

For Bipolar Disorder "I'm surprised to see so many positive reviews for Seroquel for depression and panic/anxiety. That is why I was prescribed it 2x a day, and I didn't take it very long. Everyone is different, I'm glad it works for others. For me, I was extremely tired 24/7, had to force myself to get up and stay up and do anything. I felt like I was out of it, like it wasn't even to help me mentally and emotionally, but like I took a street drug. I was so tired and forcing myself to stay up. I couldn't do anything, luckily, I didn't have a job at the time. This drug did not help me. Everyone's different though, I'm sure it has helped others. To me, it's like Seroquel = sleep."

For Bipolar Disorder "This stuff is terrible! I have been on it for a very long time and had a lot of side effects like weight gain, but the worst one was dry mouth. I would drink 4 bottles of water every night, eat hard candy, and spend most of my time in the bathroom. I also wanted to eat everything in sight. My doctor finally took me off this stuff, and I'm on another drug like it but without all the side effects. I'm also feeling a lot better mentally."

For Schizophrenia "This medication was given to me free at my first visit to my psychiatrist. He assured me that he hasn't heard of any adverse side effects. Well, this stuff put my entire body into extreme shock. I did not drink alcohol, I don't do drugs, don't smoke, and took the proper dosage as prescribed. I was rushed to the hospital on this stuff, first dose. It was like my entire body on the inside was constantly being shocked with electricity, and outside I literally could not move or even sit up. My body was shaking, felt freezing, and had the feeling of being bruised. Took about 6 to 8 hours to wear off. Did not take again."

For Bipolar Disorder "Ambfly made me gain 100 lbs in 8 mos. I got off of it and started to lose 5 lbs a night. My bad episodes got worse. I wish I had the right information about this drug. If I had known about the drug beforehand, I would never have taken it."

For Bipolar Disorder "Only lasted 2 weeks at the lowest dose, stopped because the side effects were so intolerable. Took in the evening, but still had trouble staying awake during the day and felt like a total zombie when I did. May have given this a couple more weeks to see if it would have worn off had I not gained 15 lbs as well (with no appetite change - I wasn't awake long enough to eat more!). I was already 35 lbs overweight from meds as it was, and when I med chunks me up, it doesn't stop. Only reason it gets 2 stars is that it kicked my chronic insomnia's butt."

For Schizophrenia "The drug made me gain weight and become depressed, which I was never before using the drug. I now have an addiction that I can't beat. I would probably sue them for not warning me about the drug's addictive properties. I think this drug may help some people. However, people have a right to be informed about what they are getting into."

For Bipolar Disorder "I took this medication on top of my regular antidepressants to help with my mood as well as insomnia. This was the worst medication I could have possibly used. I have a history of anorexia and binge eating disorder, and Seroquel caused me to gain 10 pounds in a month, which sent me into a total depressive episode."

For Bipolar Disorder "My doctor told me basically nothing else has worked, so what do you want him to do? The Seroquel seemed to help at first, but I gained weight quickly, and people are always asking if I'm expecting because I look maybe 5 months pregnant. I have paranoia problems as well with anxiety. I have suicidal thoughts throughout the day, but I don't share that with my doctor because I don't want to get put in a hospital, so I keep that to myself. I'm extremely depressed, and it doesn't help me sleep. I can't sleep because of the thoughts going crazy in my head, so I have to take Ambien. I'm sick of all these medications. I also take Wellbutrin for depression and Xanax for anxiety. The Xanax helps, but when I try to pull back from using it, my body jerks. I know I need help."

For Bipolar Disorder "Caused excessive weight gain (60+ lbs) very quickly (despite me eating LESS), caused a weird decrease in cognitive ability, higher blood pressure (I already have hypertension, thanks), elevated blood sugar levels, and probably other things I'm forgetting. I've been put on this against my will repeatedly because it's a Medicaid-favored drug in my state, but it DOES NOT WORK FOR ME. I still have Medicaid but go to a private pay shrink because he listens."

For Bipolar Disorder "I have been on this medication for about a week now. I am a type 1 diabetic. My sugars are extremely on the high side. It was like overnight it raised my sugars terribly. It has the complete opposite effect, my mind races. I pace, no sleep for me. So I think I need to be done with this. The not taking it versus the side effects. And I don't need this. So diabetics, beware."

For Schizophrenia "I was prescribed Seroquel for PTSD. Never again. 25 mg, I had the worst panic attack of my life, I could barely walk, but I was so scared I kept trying to run around. It was horrible. I went absolutely crazy, then passed out hard. Not my kind of medication. My mother-in-law takes 250 mg a day for schizophrenia, she has for six months now. So far, it is not helping her delusions, hallucinations, or paranoia. She was told to take it at suppertime and seemed drunk and sedated all evening. She now takes it at bedtime, but it is not helping her. :("

For Schizophrenia "I've been prescribed Seroquel now for roughly a year, and the side effects are so nasty I wouldn't recommend it at all. The main thing that attacks me relentlessly is the tickles under the skin in the legs, and I'm probably keeping the neighbors awake because I've got to keep stretching my legs and wriggling in bed to calm down the relentless torment that comes back maybe every 5 to 10 seconds for roughly 5 to 8 hours most nights. I've also got to the point where it feels like I'm going to swallow my tongue for hours on end, and I wonder if I'm going to be alive the next day as well. I get to the point where I'm nearly asleep and self-resuscitate with a jolt of adrenaline in my heart and a deep breath, like I nearly drowned and nearly have a heart attack. It's nasty."
